Most government union leaders are playing a long game, and it's costing taxpayers billions. In this episode of Disunion, host David Osborne talks with Frank Ricci, a former union president and labor expert, who exposes how unions have shifted from representing workers to controlling states like Connecticut. Ricci reveals the hidden tactics they use to manipulate negotiations, evade accountability, and push policies that drain public resources. Discover the risky strategies unions deploy during contract talks, how public officials are often handcuffed, and what real leadership looks like in the fight to restore balance at the bargaining table.

Jim Norton and Matt Serra kick off the episode by breaking down UFC 325 from top to bottom, locking in their picks and debating key matchups as the promotion gears up for one of the most anticipated cards of the year. After the picks, the guys are joined by one of the most dynamic power couples in the fight game — women's strawweight Tabatha Ricci and Zuffa boxer Callum Walsh. Before diving into their careers, the conversation begins with a look at their unique farming lifestyle and how life outside the spotlight helps keep them grounded amid the chaos of combat sports.Ricci then talks about her continued evolution inside the Octagon, how she's approaching this phase of her career, and why staying active and sharpening the details remain the priority as she pushes forward on her quest for a title shot — beginning with a high-stakes bout against Virna Jandiroba in April.Walsh reacts to his main event win from last Friday's Zuffa Boxing card and outlines his plan to grow into a true 160-pound middleweight after campaigning at 154 prior to signing with Zuffa Boxing.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Setting Effective Limits: A Conversation About SLIC Solutions for ConflictBill Eddy and Megan Hunter welcome co-author Ekaterina Ricci to discuss their new book "SLIC Solutions for Conflict," exploring practical approaches to setting limits and consequences with individuals who demonstrate challenging behaviors. The episode introduces the "two and a half steps" approach: establishing clear boundaries, implementing consequences, and selectively using empathy, attention, and respect (EAR) statements. Traditional empathy-focused approaches may sometimes enable rather than resolve difficult situations, particularly with individuals who demonstrate manipulative behaviors.Bill Eddy outlines five crucial questions for establishing consequences: Is it proportional? Have positive consequences been considered? Is it safe? Are you prepared to enforce it? Do you need assistance?Questions we answer: How can empathy make conflict worse? Why is advance preparation important? How does social media impact younger generations' ability to set boundaries? When should you seek help imposing consequences?Whether managing professional relationships, navigating family dynamics, or maintaining personal boundaries, this episode provides practical tools for setting effective limits while maintaining respect and safety. Learn how preparation, practice, and proper timing can help you implement boundaries with confidence.Additional ResourcesWatch this episode on YouTube!Expert PublicationsSLIC Solutions for Conflict: Setting Limits & Imposing Consequences in 2 1/2 StepsHigh-Conflict TrainingUnderstanding & Managing High-Conflict TrainingPersonal DevelopmentConflict Influencer Group Class - starts January 21New Ways for Couples: Online Class + CoachingProfessional DevelopmentFamily Law Consultation Group with Bill Eddy - starts March 2026Connect With UsVisit High Conflict Institute: highconflictinstitute.comSubmit questions for Bill and MeganBrowse our complete collection of books and resources in our online store—available in print and e-book formatsFind these show notes and all past episode notes on our websiteImportant NoticeOur discussions focus on behavioral patterns rather than diagnoses. Southern Gothic Horrors are making a comeback in the horror community and this film in particular is centered on generational trauma, religious terror, and atmospheric dread. However, there's nothing more terrifying than a mother who uncovers her deceased father's dark secrets plus the evil behind it all threatens to finish what it started, putting everyone in danger. What an absolute honor and pleasure to sit down with the talented Italia Ricci! We spoke about her role in this twisted movie with the essence of religious and climatic horror. As the movie is being filmed, she explained the arc that her character experienced in the story along with the physical boundaries. However, there is that one line that her on-screen son says in the movie in which I believe that may have shocked the audience. You're going to have to watch the movie to know what I am writing about. We also spoke about her roles as the Silver Banshee in Super Girl and her role as a White House employee in Designated Survivor (in which that point in the interview, I was being a nerdy fanboy). How will audiences connect with this movie? If you're a single mother who would do anything in the world to protect your kid(s), then you will definitely have something to take with you after watching it. The Confession is available to rent or purchase on Apple TV Store, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home. It is also streaming on platforms like Tubi, Hoopla, and The Roku Channel.

At 8 years old, Ricci was put on diet pills.By 29, she'd spent her entire twenties feeling ashamed of her body, convinced that if she wasn't suffering…she wasn't really trying. In this interview, Ricci sits down with us to share how she went from:- Growing up with a “starve yourself” mentality and early diet trauma- ADHD, impatience, all-or-nothing thinking and constant self-criticism- The fear of never having set foot in a gym…to over 2.5 years of growing consistency, lifting regularly, fuelling her body, and becoming woman and mother she wants her kids to see.We talk about:- The moment she realised: “Nobody is coming to save me.”- How she stopped equating “progress” with misery and hunger- What actually changed when she got outside accountability and a long-term plan- Learning to give herself credit instead of moving the goalposts every time she achieved something- Why buying “temporary” clothes for her changing body became a powerful act of self-respectIf you grew up around diet culture, feel broken by years of quick fixes, or secretly wonder if you'll ever “get it together”…Ricci's story will hit hard—in the best way.
To earn her own way through theater school in Philadelphia, Tai Ricci bussed tables at one of Stephen Starr's restaurants. With her naturally outgoing personality and drive, she moved up the ranks to become a high-earning server and realized the restaurant business was her true calling. That calling took her to LA and eventually San Francisco, landing at one of Michael Mina's restaurants and meeting up with Ryan Cole and Chef Jason Halverson. Over lunch one day, the three came up with a plan to open their first restaurant. Twelve years later, the partners lead Hi Neighbor Hospitality Group in the San Francisco area and operate five diverse independent restaurants that have become neighborhood favorites.Ricci oversees events and people operations for the group, developing a vibrant team culture that fosters growth and creates a workplace where the next generation of hospitality professionals can thrive. But she also has a keen sense of what diners are seeking in restaurants today, and the group's concepts including Trestle, MAMA Oakland and The Vault Steakhouse deliver on that with their menus, ambience and service.Listen as Ricci shares how her love for hospitality has shaped Hi Neighbor's restaurants into dining destinations admired by guests and team members alike.

CELEBRATION SUMMER is a melodic punk band from Washington, DC that formed in late 2019 when bassist Greg Raelson set out to channel the sound and spirit of the late '80s/early '90s punk he grew up on. Joined by guitarist Dan Hauser and singer/guitarist Nate Falger, the band later solidified its lineup with powerhouse drummer Chris Ricci. With a rhythm section driven by Raelson's melodic bass lines and Ricci's dynamic drumming, layered with Hauser's urgent guitars and Falger's emotive lyrics and angular riffs, Celebration Summer crafts anthemic, thoughtful songs that reflect the struggles, tension, and hope of modern-day America.Their name pays homage to Hüsker Dü's classic song Celebrated Summer and DC's pivotal “Revolution Summer” of 1985, blending legacy and intent. After 45 years of running his Massachusetts collision shop, Tom Ricci knew it was time to start planning the next chapter, but like many long-time owners, he wasn't sure how to step back without losing himself or the business. In this episode, Matt DiFrancesco talks with Tom about the real-life journey of transitioning out of a decades-old shop, the surprising discovery that he was still needed in the business 42% of the time, and how that realization shaped his exit strategy. Tom shares how he found Matt, why he chose to sell rather than become a “missing in action” owner, and how assembling the right team gave him structure and direction throughout the process.Tom also reflects on life after the sale, the importance of building a post-business identity, and why owners should never wait until burnout to start planning. His story is a practical, candid roadmap for any shop owner thinking about their future, their lifestyle, and their legacy.Matt and Tom also talk about:(06:38) Why identifying the real results of exit planning changes your transition(07:43) How evaluating lifestyle needs and business value shapes your long-term vision(10:37) Why most owners regret selling, and how defining post-shop identity prevents it(13:49) How planning before burnout protects your leverage and your future options(16:17) Why exit planning is an ongoing journey and why having a Plan B mattersIf Tom's story resonates with listeners and they'd like to discuss their own situation, they can schedule a call with Matt at https://highliftfinancial.com/. It's the episode that will have you saying, "Get 'er done!"Follow Frank & Sense on Instagram and Bluesky! Sign up for the newsletter here!
Send us a textRaw, unfiltered, and straight from the heart—Vince Ricci's story of transformation from Bronx street survivor to creative powerhouse will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about forgiveness, resilience, and what it truly means to protect those you love. The founder and CEO of Hubble Studio doesn't just share his success story; he rips open the vault on his tumultuous upbringing where survival meant discerning friend from foe, where trust could get you killed, and where the most feared men were sometimes the most tender-hearted. His candid reflections on growing up surrounded by violence, addiction, and chaos reveal how these experiences forged his uncompromising approach to both business and family. When armed intruders threatened his home, Vince's split-second decision to engage in what became a viral 75-second gunfight wasn't just about self-preservation—it was about an absolute commitment to protecting his family at all costs. "That outcome was a million percent better than letting them in my house," he explains with chilling clarity. Yet perhaps most surprising is his matter-of-fact forgiveness toward those same attackers: "He's doing what he knows to do...what do I need to forgive him for?"This paradoxical ability to be both unflinchingly tough and remarkably compassionate defines Vince's approach to fatherhood, business relationships, and personal growth. He's built Hubble Studio into a creative juggernaut that's shot hundreds of Vogue covers and worked with countless A-list celebrities, while simultaneously honoring his mother's memory through charity work that transforms lives.Whether recounting street confrontations or explaining how he teaches his young daughter both fearlessness and security, Vince delivers hard-earned wisdom with unexpected vulnerability. "If you dwell on shit, you're going to live in that shit," he states plainly, revealing that his approach to forgiveness isn't about moral superiority—it's about freedom.Ready to challenge your own perspectives on healing, protection, and what it means to truly move forward? This episode will leave you questioning where your own capacity for forgiveness ends, and whether your past is defining your future more than you realize.Support the show#thetruthaboutaddiction#sobriety#the12steps#recovery#therapy#mentalhealth#podcasts#emotionalsobriety#soberliving#sobermindset#spirituality#spiritualgrowth#aa#soberlife#mindfulness#wellness#wellnessjourney#personalgrowth#personaldevelopment#sobermovement#recoveroutloud#sobercurious#sobermoms#soberwomen#author#soberauthor#purpose#passion#perspective

A viewer question prompts Chris and Sophie to look into scrambler therapy. A medical therapy for chronic pain with a silly name that sounds like it should be pseudoscience, but actually isn't. How is it different from Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)? How good is the evidence and how much of the benefit is actually a placebo response.
