There are 2 Christmas stories that go on during this season. There's the holiday story with the fun festivities complete with Christmas trees, lights on our homes, and presents. Then there is the Biblical story of the gift of truth, which sometimes we can jumble together. In today's message, Joel Holm helps us view the Christmas story from the perspective of the Father. When we get a Christmas present from the holiday version, we enjoy what it is, but we kind of forget about it over time. But when the Heavenly Father gives us a gift, it's a gift for eternity. In the holiday story, if we are worthy, we will receive a gift. In the Christmas story, it is because we are unworthy, He has given us a gift. That gift is that the Christmas story is the start of God's heavenly family that He desires us to be a part of.
Life is hard, but God is good. When facing hardship, we have two paths that are laid out before us. One is despair, and the other is faith and hope. When we choose the path of despair, it can leave us feeling incapable and even hopeless. In today's message, Joel Holm shares that when we choose the path of faith and hope, we find that Jesus is connected to our pain and suffering. We learn that we flourish the most when we make a true declaration that God is good even in the middle of difficult seasons.
