We want to scroll on our phone for hours and not feel dull. But we live in God's world and that is not the way the world works.- Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold (Proverbs 3:13-14)- Wisdom is better than jewels and all that you may desire cannot compare with her (Proverbs 8:11)- Wisdom will come into your heart and understanding will guard you, delivering you from the way of evil (Proverbs 2:11-12)- Long life is in her right hand, in her left hand are riches and honor. My neighborhood is located very close to a water tower where a weather siren is mounted. I know I should be grateful and take heed every time that siren goes off, but I don't. When it first goes off, it does what it is supposed to do. It is intrusive, alarming, distracting, attention getting, and functions as a warning! After just a short while (if the tornado doesn't materialize immediately), it becomes a painful, disturbing, uncomfortable nuisance. Warnings can function and affect us that way. Wisdom can come to us and grow in us as we learn to heed warnings. Having gone through several hurricanes has probably “hardened my heart” a little! How foolish would I be to NOT at least check my phone or turn on the weather station channel to see what the siren is all about? Likewise, how foolish would I be if I didn't take Solomon's warnings about the things that will destroy my life? Unfortunately, his warning's fulfillment may not come to pass immediately either, but it is coming! Tomorrow I will be teaching from Proverbs again and I believe a couple of sirens will be going off in our hearts.

Happy Father's Day tomorrow as we begin a summer series based on the Proverbs of King Solomon. He definitely had some situations that we can glean from! There were two teenage brothers, out for summer break, and they decided they would start a business, selling eggs they got from their grandmother. They bought the eggs for a dollar a dozen, and started selling the eggs for a dollar a dozen. They caught on that they were not making any money! Their solution was, “WE GOT TO GET A BIGGER TRUCK.” Some things you just learn by your experiences. But even better is when you learn from other people's experiences. Proverbs is written with the purpose for us to learn how to practically live the abundant life on earth that Jesus promised us in John 10:10, “The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy; but, I came that you might have life, and have it abundantly!”. I look forward to the opportunity to teach from Proverbs the next few weeks. Pastor Brandon will share the teaching opportunities the first of July and Pastor Brad will be returning to teach the last part of July. I hope you will worship in person if you are in town. Let's continue to grow together.

This week Pastor Andrew reminds us that obtaining wisdom from God, should be one of our greatest goals. Job 28:12 “But where can wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?

In every pursuit, let wisdom be the foundation.

Solomon was granted an opportunity to receive anything he wanted from the Lord. He asked for wisdom. Why in the world would he do that?

God gives wisdom to those who ask Him for it and search for it.

01-11-2026 Get Wisdom Proverbs 8:1-11Do you value wisdom? 1 Kings 3:1-151. What is wisdom? It is the ability to make right moral decisions, to use skill and discernment properly. Wisdom is not knowledge. Knowledge is the possession of information. Wisdom is knowing what to do with that information.2. Why do we need wisdom?  a. To make the right decisions b. To discern the truth of Scripture c. To identify false teaching and temptations d. To help others e. To judge correctly and righteously3. Why don't we have wisdom? We don't make wisdom a priority in our lives, because we are not truly seeking God. We are arrogant and stubborn. We are impatient, always in a hurry to do everything. We're overly emotional.4. How do we get wisdom?  a. Ask God (James 1:5).  b. Humble ourselves before God and own our mistakes.  c. Spend time in God's Word.  d. Get good teaching to make correct decisions.  e. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide and teach us (John 14:26).
