Mike and Rico wonder what effect a win or loss vs. the Eagles would have on the Lions' odds to win the NFC North and clinch the #1 seed in the NFC.
Campbell Takes the Wheel, Offense Floors It The Detroit Lions put their stamp on Week 10. They routed the Commanders by 22. They hung 44 and rolled up more than 550 yards. The record moved to 6-3. First place in the NFC North followed after the Eagles beat the Packers. The headline was simple. Dan Campbell took over the offense, and the Detroit Lions looked like themselves again. This was the most dynamic snap-to-whistle showing of the season. The calls came out fast. The ball came out faster. The NFL is a rhythm league, and Detroit lived in rhythm. Jared Goff hit receivers in stride and let speed do the rest. Crossing routes stacked yards after catch. Tendencies softened. The heavy 12 personnel looks did not announce run and stall drives. The Detroit Lions added layers, kept Washington off balance, and strung answers together all afternoon. Rhythm Over Hero Ball The Detroit Lions Podcast broke down one sequence that captured the shift. Pony personnel out of the gun. Two backs on the field. Jahmyr Gibbs flared to the flat as the hot answer. David Montgomery inserted and stoned a free rusher. Goff hit the outlet and the sticks moved. Simple. Clean. Smart. That is what this offense can be when the first answer is built in. Concepts stacked nicely. Shallow crossers for Jameson Williams to run. A dig when leverage opened. Amon-Ra St. Brown on the slant. St. Brown on the touchdown off levels. The throws were on time. The spacing was sharp. The result was chunk gains without forcing low-percentage hero shots. Protection looked steadier because the plan cut the defense's teeth. Get it out. Make them tackle. Most of all, the approach felt unpredictable. Motions and formations did not telegraph intent. The Detroit Lions leaned into what their roster does best. Gibbs in space. Montgomery in pass protection and as a hammer. Goff as a point guard. The unit played connected football, and Washington never found the answers. Locker Room Temperature and What Comes Next There was also an undercurrent here. The previous play-caller's public criticism of the offensive line lingered. That kind of commentary belongs in the building. Not in front of microphones. The change arrived like a soft firing or a mutual reset. Either way, Campbell's voice carried, and the offense responded. Trust matters. Fourth-and-two calls tell a team everything. Campbell's aggression and clarity fueled confidence. Players know when the head coach believes in them. They played like it. Detroit sits at 6-3 after the statement win. The next test is heavy. The Eagles await on Sunday night in Week 11. That stage will demand the same tempo, the same answers-first sequencing, and the same discipline that beat Washington. Keep the ball moving. Keep Goff in rhythm. Keep Gibbs and Montgomery involved. If the Detroit Lions keep this identity, they will look like one of the most balanced units in the NFL when the lights come on again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRb8rTxJSiI #DanCampbelltookovertheoffense #JaredGoff #JahmyrGibbs #DavidMontgomery #JamesonWilliams #Amon-RaStBrown #Ponypersonnel #12personnellooks #yardsaftercatch #fourthandtwocalls Learn more about your ad choices. Should Matt LaFleur be fired—or does Green Bay need smarter decisions and better alignment? Ben breaks down the week's headline: questionable personnel usage (McManus over Havrisik, Bo Melton snaps over Savion/Heath), early-down run bias, shotgun overuse, and how public call-outs can lose a locker room. Then it's on to a must-win in New York: how to defend Jameis (two-high shells, disguise, selective Cooper blitzes), why man looks match up vs. the Giants WRs, and the trench test of Dexter Lawrence/Burns/Carter versus a reshuffled Packers interior with Sean Rhyan at center.Offensively, Ben lays out the fixes: more under-center, play-action on 1st/2nd & long, run on true short yardage, and 6-OL packages to slow the rush. Health updates, expected returns, and the NFC North stakes if Bears/Lions stumble. Can LaFleur steady the ship—and the offense—this week?

Andy and Brendan! are joined by "The Boys" for this Wednesday episode in honor of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Andy is especially jazzed after a big Packers loss on national TV moving the Bears into a tie for first place in the NFC North. He attempts to once again besmirch Aaron Rodgers but quickly is moved to golf talk with a loaded schedule of events to discuss. Brendan attempts to deem the Butterfield as the "Event of the Week" but is shamed into giving it to the Schwab Cup Finals by Andy as a nod to PJ's continued Champions Tour coverage. Andy, Brendan, and Joseph LaMagna run through the field in Bermuda and Brendan shares his investigation into how some amateurs found their way into the event. The DP World Tour finals are next up on the "Schedule of the Week," with Rory McIlroy poised to secure yet another Race to Dubai win. The DPWT announced the new "Rory McIlroy Award" on Tuesday, now given to the European with the best performance across a year's four majors. To Brendan and PJ's surprise, Joseph reveals that Rory is ineligible for this award, leading to questions about why this even exists. The ANNIKA Driven by Gainbridge at the Pelican has made plenty of headlines due to a Kai Trump sponsor exemption and Caitlin Clark's Pro-Am round having extended coverage on Golf Channel. Finally, PJ previews the Charles Schwab Cup Championship as the 2025 Champions Tour season comes to a close. Andy makes plans for next year's swan song at Phoenix Country Club that involves PJ running a 5K race to raise money for colon cancer research. There's a brief discussion of some news surrounding the now-announced teams for the "Golf Channel Games," but Joseph isn't sure what to make of this made-for-TV spectacle. "The Boys" are then put on the hot seat by Andy and Brendan as they're quizzed about the future of "Lunch with The Boys," the Indianapolis Colts, and more.
