CONTENT HEADS UP: This episode may inspire you to give the practice of “Walking-In-Your-Shoes” a go on your own. We waive all responsibility for any ensuing mishaps of cramped spaces, being near stairs or inspired bouts of wild and/or naked abandon. On a more serious note, we do discuss heavy subjects like trauma, armoring, drowning, rape and PTSD. But predominantly, we delve into the healing power and intelligence of the body invited into highly conscious motion and given free-reign and guidance to express all that it knows. Also, Walking-In-Your-Shoes can be done just as effectively from a wheelchair or with the capacities of any perambulatory disability. You just have to be a body with the desire to follow how it's guiding you to feel, see and know. This episode presents a departure from our previous episodes. As in some of our upcoming episodes, we focus here on a specific practice and its transformative techniques aimed at unlocking conscious awareness of the body's intelligence. While past episodes delved into the philosophical underpinnings of embodiment, this installment offers practical guidance on tangible methods to access your inner knowledge as an opportunity for revelation and growth.SYNOPSIS:Ali discusses a movement-based mindfulness practice called “The Walking-In-Your-Shoes” (WIYS) mind-body process with one of its co-founders, actor and director, Joseph Culp. WIYS is a process that allows the practitioner, in partnership with a facilitator, to address questions or needs through an intuitive questioning of the body-mind through movement. The applications of the questioning process are quite broad and can be applied to everything from healing trauma and managing addiction, to business development or a more organic method of acting. This is another means of “knowing” through your body. Ali and Joseph discuss the overlap between WIYS and Family Constellation Work and how both practices allow others to help take on and process trauma or healing on the behalf of another person. EXPLORATION POINTS:- Joseph & Ali discuss the intersections between the Walking-In-Your-Shoes (WIYS) body-mind process and Family Constellation Work. The episode explores how both practices facilitate the process of addressing questions or needs through intuitive questioning of and attention to the body-mind through movement.- The episode highlights Joseph Culp's personal growth as an actor through his involvement in WIYS. Culp discusses how this movement-based mindfulness practice has contributed to his development as an artist, providing insights into the transformative power of the practice.- Joseph Culp and Ali discuss the concept of "Walking for Others". The exploration involves understanding how facilitators can embody and navigate the experiences of others through movement, emphasizing the empathetic and therapeutic aspects of Walking in someone else's shoes.- Joseph and Ali explore the therapeutic potential of WIYS for individuals grappling with severe trauma or PTSD. Discussing how the intuitive questioning of the body-mind through movement, coupled with the empathetic support of a facilitator and sometimes a group, offers a unique avenue for addressing and healing deep-seated traumas. - Joseph offers insights into how Wilhelm Reich's ideas have shaped WIYS, contributing to its foundation, while also exploring how Alexander Lowen's contributions informed the practice of following the body towards liberation. This exploration provides a comprehensive understanding of the historical and theoretical roots that form the intellectual, and practical, lineage of WIYS.To subscribe now, click hereTo be an angel to the podcast, click here To read more about the podcast, click here FOR MORE ALI MEZEY:Ali - Website:Personal Geometry® and the Magic of Mat Work Course information:Transgenerational Healing Films:FOR MORE JOSEPH CULP:BIO: Joseph Culp is an actor, director and filmmaker, working in theater, film and television for over 40 years. Sometimes we think Magic is this far off thing that is left for fairytales and magical adventures, until we realize or discover the real magi lineages of our past, hidden in text and priestess traditions all over the world! In this episode, I'm sharing what it truly means to reclaim our magical human nature—the divine technologies hidden within our everyday breath, our voice, and our relationship to water. If you're curious about how to bring sacred creatorship, radical responsibility, and quantum healing into your daily life—not just your rituals—then this episode is your invitation to discover the wisdom that our priestess lineages knew all along. In this episode I cover three of the most basic and fundamental tools that the majority of people on the spiritual path are missing. Mastering the Human Element of Sales and Leadership with Shad TidlerIn a recent episode of The Thoughtful Entrepreneur Podcast, host Josh Elledge sat down with Shad Tidler, a senior consultant and coach specializing in Sales and Leadership/Management at Lushin. The conversation dived deep into the psychological barriers that often prevent talented entrepreneurs from scaling their sales organizations and leading with true impact. Shad's expertise lies in dismantling the "head trash" that complicates the sales process, helping leaders transition from a state of reactive management to one of proactive, high-performance coaching. For any founder feeling stuck in the "doer" role, this episode provides a masterclass in shifting perspective to unlock sustainable business growth.Bridging the Gap Between Sales Strategy and Leadership ExecutionA common struggle for growing businesses is the disconnect between the desire for higher revenue and the actual leadership behaviors required to support a sales team. Many founders are excellent at closing deals themselves but struggle to replicate that success within their team because they treat management as an administrative task rather than a coaching discipline. To bridge this gap, leaders must first achieve clarity on their own "sales DNA"—the underlying beliefs and habits that dictate how they interact with prospects and employees. By addressing these foundational elements, a leader can stop micromanaging the "what" and start influencing the "how," creating a culture where accountability is embraced rather than feared.Developing a high-performance sales culture also requires a fundamental shift in how we view the sales process itself: it is not about "convincing" people, but about qualifying them through rigorous discovery. Shad points out that many sales teams fail because they spend too much time chasing low-probability prospects due to a psychological need for approval. By implementing a structured, repeatable sales system, organizations can remove the emotional guesswork from the pipeline. This allows leadership to accurately forecast growth and identify specific skill gaps within their team. When sales becomes a predictable system rather than an emotional rollercoaster, the entire organization benefits from increased stability and focus.Ultimately, the most successful leaders are those who invest in their own development to stay ahead of the challenges that come with scaling. Leadership and sales are both skills that require continuous refinement and a willingness to confront uncomfortable truths about one's own performance. This is where external coaching becomes a vital asset; it provides the objective mirror necessary to spot the "head trash" that internal teams are often too close to see. By focusing on the intersection of mindset and methodology, entrepreneurs can build resilient teams that are equipped to thrive in competitive markets, ensuring that the mission of the business is supported by a robust, self-sustaining engine of growth.About Shad TidlerShad Tidler is a seasoned consultant and coach at Lushin, specializing in sales, management, and leadership development. With a background in helping businesses navigate complex growth phases, Shad focuses on the human side of business—addressing the beliefs, behaviors, and techniques that drive or hinder professional success. He is passionate about helping individuals and teams overcome psychological barriers to reach their full potential.About LushinLushin is a sales and leadership consulting firm dedicated to helping businesses achieve predictable, sustainable growth. By focusing on the psychology of sales and management, Lushin provides the training, coaching, and systems necessary to build high-performing organizations. By refining the "human engine" behind your sales and leadership, you create a foundation for success that can withstand the pressures of scaling.More from The Thoughtful Entrepreneur

Dr. David Treleaven is a a writer, educator, and trauma professional whose work lies at the intersection of mindfulness and trauma. At the heart of David's work is the notion that mindfulness is more powerful when combined with an understanding of trauma.Part of what's behind this is the growing realization over the years that mindfulness meditation isn't all good. There are a number of potential pitfalls that have been increasingly documented over time. One of which is that mindfulness can exacerbate symptoms of traumatic stress. As a result David has focused on offering mindfulness providers the knowledge and tools they require to meet the needs of those struggling with trauma. In this conversation (which was originally recorded during COVID and we are re releasing again) David and I will explore a few big questions:What is the relationship between increasing our capacity to be with discomfort and a meaningful and fulfilling life? How can we increase our capacity to tolerate distress and discomfort while staying regulated, and responsive in the process? When we are working at the edge of our comfort zone, or are working with the more difficult aspects of our experience how do we know when to keep going, and when to back off? This is one of my favorite conversations on the show over the years and Partly because David is such a skilled teacher, and partly because the framework we'll discuss together (called the window of tolerance) is one of the most practical I have come across for answering these big and nuanced questions about how to meet life from a more responsive and regulated place. For more on David, his book, courses and events please visit: davidtreleaven.comNote on re-releasing this episode:Every so often we will choose to re release an episode from earlier years. These conversations are often some of the best we've had on the show and you'll see [Best of] in the title. This conversation was originally recorded in 2021 during COVID, yet the themes, and what David offers feel just as timely and useful today as they did years ago. What if the missing ingredient in your engagement strategy isn't better rewards—but deeper appreciation? While recognition programs spotlight desired behaviors, authentic appreciation acknowledges the whole person behind the work. It carries both intention and heart. And unlike recognition, it isn't confined to hierarchy—it can move across teams. Dr. Paul White explores how cultivating a culture of appreciation elevates motivation, strengthens relationships, and sustains meaningful performance.Working on Purpose is broadcast live Tuesdays at 6PM ET and Music on W4CY Radio (www.w4cy.com) part of Talk 4 Radio (www.talk4radio.com) on the Talk 4 Media Network (www.talk4media.com). Welcome to episode #1025 of Thinking With Mitch Joel (formerly Six Pixels of Separation). At a moment when panic travels faster than proof, few marketers are as clear-eyed… and as human… as Ann Handley. A pioneering digital marketing strategist (MarketingProfs), bestselling author (Everybody Writes and Content Rules), longtime champion of writing that actually means something and dear friend (also, if you're not susbscribed to her newsletter, Total Annarchy, you really should be), Ann has built a career reminding businesses that the point of content isn't velocity… it's connection. In her recent essay, Something Messy Is Happening: On AI, Panic, and Asking Better Questions, she pushes back against the apocalyptic certainty surrounding AI job displacement and challenges the framing that faster always wins. Responding to venture capitalist Matt Shumer's argument, Something Big Is Happening, that AI will eliminate half of white-collar work within a few years, Ann dissects the seductive panic embedded in exponential curves and racing metaphors, arguing that technological capability does not equal economic inevitability. She reminds us that adoption is human-shaped, that judgment compounds when speed becomes cheap, and that friction is often where thinking actually happens. Rather than choosing between "adapt or die," Ann advocates for a steadier path: use the tools, reject the hysteria, protect the work that builds trust, expertise and meaning over time. Grounded in curiosity rather than fear, her perspective reframes the moment not as a race to outrun machines but as an invitation to ask better questions about what we're building… and why. In this episode of Don't Miss This, Dave Butler and Grace Freeman walk through Genesis 24–33 and step into one of the greatest story arcs in all of scripture. From Isaac and Rebekah's love story to Jacob's rivalry with Esau, these chapters remind us that God writes beautiful stories through very imperfect people. What begins as a rom-com at a well slowly unfolds into betrayal, broken relationships, wilderness nights, and wrestling prayers. Yet in the middle of deception, fear, and family mess, God shows up. He meets Jacob in a no-name place, speaks promises over him at rock bottom, and reveals Himself as the God who brings ladders, angels, and grace into the most undeserving moments. This episode is a reminder that the scriptures do not hide the complicated parts of our humanity. Instead, they reveal a God who meets us there, who turns shame into altars, who gives new names, and who helps us prevail. If you have ever wondered whether your story is too messy for God to redeem, this lesson is for you. While each of us may find we have different answers, Here are a few that have been emerging for me recently:The first - remembering, in the words of one of today's guests: you don't have to do it alone. Remembering the power (and necessity) of seeking out supportive community, and friends. The second -turning to history. Gaining perspective and insight by revisiting times in the past where humans have collectively endured, and persevered in the face of tremendous adversity. The third - turning to the wisdom of elders.Seeking out the wise and caring teachers, mentors, and leaders in our communities who are further along the path and can offer guidance from where they stand. Two of these modern elders in many ways are Mark Nepo and Elizabeth Lesser.Chosen as one of OWN's SuperSoul 100, a group of inspired leaders using their gifts and voices to elevate humanity, Mark Nepo is one of the great poets and spiritual guides of our time. And bestselling author, and Co-Founder of Omega Institute, one of the world's leading conference and retreat centers, Elizabeth Lesser has had the opportunity to learn from, and collaborate with many of the greatest spiritual teachers and leaders around the world. Something she's done since Omega was first founded in 1977. I asked Elizabeth and Mark if they'd be willing to come together to engage in a rich conversation - sharing some of their own insights, practices, and ultimately what they've learned from some of their teachers about navigating troubling times. In this conversation (originally released in March 2025) we'll explore:The possibility of meeting whatever is here, including the grand challenges we are facing, with greater wisdom, balance, and love. For more on Mark please visit marknepo.comFor more on Elizabeth check out elizabethlesser.org, and for more on Omega Institute please visit: eomega.orgI was reminded in this conversation that perhaps the most potent way we might find our way through these times, And back to each other,Is by remembering that at some level we are all made of the same stuff. Each one of us, a human being - part of a larger whole.A reminder which in Mark's words took this form:“When we come back into direct connection with life,There's a reverence for life. And when we have a reverence for life we can't do harm.”Did you find this episode inspiring? EVEN MORE about this episode! What happens when divine guidance moves through music, creativity, and the courage to trust your calling?Join Julie Ryan and Broadway star Pamela Bob as they explore spiritual channeling, divine timing, singing as sacred expression, and how play and creativity reveal why we incarnate. In this heartfelt and inspiring episode, Pamela opens up about the sacred vulnerability of singing, why performing for an intimate room can feel more terrifying than a packed theater, and how music aligns with our unique energetic vibration. From the emotional force of shows like Ragtime to a childhood moment of divine recognition—“I think this is God”—this conversation dives deep into artistry as a spiritual calling.Listeners will be captivated by Pamela's jaw-dropping story of channeling June Carter Cash during a nightly, unscripted improvisation—an experience so powerful that Julie reveals June herself chose Pamela in the audition and guided her through every performance. Pamela also shares the brutal truth behind elite performing arts training, where she was repeatedly told she couldn't sing, yet trusted her inner knowing enough to persevere when others were cut. That same guidance later led her from a lucid dream to creating the award-winning Livin' On a Prairie, as the right people and opportunities appeared at exactly the right time. This episode is ultimately a love letter to play, joy, and remembering who you were before the world told you who to be. Pamela reflects on the transformative power of creativity through stories like Encore, where adults rediscover themselves through performance, and offers a simple yet profound invitation for anyone feeling stuck: return to what you loved as a child. The conversation closes with a tear-filled reflection on why we incarnate at all—sparked by a dying woman's final words: “It was so much fun.”Guest Biography:Pamela Bob is a multifaceted actor, singer, and award-winning screenwriter whose career spans Broadway, Off-Broadway, film, television, and podcasting. There are moments in life when the ground shifts beneath us—moments that ask us to release who we have been and surrender to who we are becoming. In this conversation with Christine Eck, we explore these initiatory thresholds: the postpartum window, identity shifts, creative rebirth, and the deeply human experience of meeting ourselves in the dark.Whether it's the identity rupture of new parenthood, a dream dissolving, a relationship shifting, or a calling echoing from somewhere you can't yet see, these moments feel like freefall. The Six Pillars of Effective Leadership: In-Depth Insights from Jim CarloughIn this episode, host Josh Elledge speaks with Jim Carlough, founder of Jim Carlough, a veteran leadership coach who helps executives navigate the complex transition from management to true leadership. Their conversation explores the foundational principles of integrity, empathy, and community-building that define high-performing organizations. This post captures the most impactful insights from their discussion, offering a roadmap for leaders who want to move beyond titles and start building teams rooted in trust and accountability within The Thoughtful Entrepreneur Podcast.Mastering the Art of Impactful LeadershipTransitioning from a high-performing individual contributor to an effective leader is often one of the most difficult shifts in a professional's career. Jim explains that many organizations fail their talent by promoting them based on technical skill without providing the soft-skill roadmap necessary to manage human dynamics. True leadership requires a departure from "managing tasks" to "mentoring people," a shift that demands high levels of emotional intelligence and self-awareness. By focusing on pillars like integrity and empathy, leaders can move past the initial hurdles of imposter syndrome and the awkwardness of managing former peers, ultimately creating a culture where team members feel valued and empowered to excel.Integrity stands as the non-negotiable foundation of Jim's framework, serving as the lens through which every executive decision should be viewed. He suggests that without absolute honesty and transparency, trust evaporates, leading to the high turnover rates that plague many modern companies. Jim advocates for a daily "integrity audit"—a personal reflection to ensure that one's actions have not come at the unfair expense of others. This commitment to character does more than just boost morale; it creates a stable environment where direct communication thrives and long-term performance becomes the standard rather than the exception.Cultivating a sense of community is the final piece of the high-performance puzzle. Jim draws a compelling parallel between the camaraderie found in local live music and the collaborative spirit of a healthy workplace. When leaders roll up their sleeves and support their teams during challenging times—much like helping a band move their gear—they break down hierarchical barriers and build authentic connections. This human-centric approach transforms a group of employees into a unified community, fostering a level of dedication that traditional management tactics simply cannot replicate.About Jim CarloughJim Carlough is an award-winning Chief Sales Officer, bestselling author, and keynote speaker with decades of experience in healthcare and technology. Key Takeaways This episode of the Empowered Spirit Show focuses on the theme of self-love, urging listeners to shift their focus from external validation to internal cultivation of love and self-worth. Hosted by Terry Ann Hyman, the episode combines personal anecdotes, insightful observations, and a guided meditation to provide a comprehensive guide to embracing self-love. The Problem with Outward-Focused Love Terri Ann Heiman points out a common pattern, especially among women, of excelling at loving others—partners, children, clients—while neglecting their own needs. This outward focus often leads to a sense of being lost, as individuals give away their power and constantly seek external validation for their worth. Two Patterns of Self-Abandonment The episode identifies two primary ways people abandon themselves in the pursuit of love and wholeness: Losing Ourselves in Love: This pattern involves giving so much to others that one's own well-being is depleted. It's a form of self-abandonment that can be disguised as devotion or service. The External Search for Wholeness: This is the continuous and exhausting search for the next book, workshop, or teacher that promises to make one feel complete. This behavior stems from the belief that something essential is missing within. A Personal Journey to Self-Love Terri Ann shares a deeply personal story of transformation. She recounts how she ignored her intuition about her husband's infidelity, a painful experience that ultimately led her to a profound realization. The moment of crisis became a turning point, prompting her to question who she had been listening to and to start tuning into her own inner voice. The High Cost of Ignoring Your Inner Voice The consequences of not listening to one's inner guidance can be severe, leading to a loss of confidence, a diminished sense of self, and a breakdown of trust in oneself and others. Terry Ann describes this period as feeling disconnected and like a "shell going through the motions." The Path to Reclaiming Self-Love The episode outlines a path to rediscovering and nurturing self-love, which includes: The Power of the Pause: Taking a deliberate break from the constant outward search for answers and validation. Connecting with Inner Guidance: Learning to listen to and trust one's intuition and higher self. Embracing Spiritual Practices: The host highlights the role of practices like Reiki and a daily morning ritual of asking for inner guidance. Guided Meditation for Self-Love A significant portion of the episode is dedicated to a guided meditation. This practice is designed to help listeners connect with their inner selves and cultivate a sense of self-love through breathing exercises, visualizations, and affirmations. The Transformative Power of Self-Love By prioritizing self-love, individuals can stop seeking external validation and begin to source love from within. This shift in focus allows one to operate from a place of fullness and to trust their inner knowing, even in the face of external opposition. The episode emphasizes that you become the "frequency you've been seeking." Paramahansa Yogananda, which so beautifully encapsulates our journey today. He reminds us not to focus on our smallness, on the little wave that feels battered by life. He says, "Don't look to your little body; look within." He urges us to remember that behind every small wave is the entire vastness of the ocean. Yogananda teaches that the ultimate source of love and self-worth comes from only one place—within. From our higher Self. He says, "What you are is much greater than anything or anyone else you have ever yearned for... for within your soul lies the greatest treasure of all — God." He reminds us of our indestructible nature with these powerful words: "You are a spark of an Eternal Flame. You can hide the spark, but you can never destroy it." So, the invitation, as you go forward from this space, is to carry this truth in your heart. The next time you feel yourself seeking outside for validation, or losing yourself in the service of others, or feeling that you are not enough, pause. Remember the ocean within you. Remember the eternal spark you carry. In Yogananda's own words: "Even while striving to improve yourself, learn to stand alone, secure in your own virtues and self-worth." That is the essence of pausing to love. It is standing secure in the truth of who you are. Thank you for journeying with me today. Until next time, trust, believe, and know thyself to be LOVE. To your spirit! Terri PS... Schedule your complimentary Spiritual Upgrade Call here.
What if the mental health symptoms we face aren't the actual problem? What if they're signals that can help us see and solve the real problem? Psychiatrist, award winning professor of medicine, journalist, and leading mental health expert, Dr. Joanna Cheek invites us to lean into these questionsArguing In her timely new book: It's Not You, It's the World, A Mental Health Survival Guide for Us All, that we're not broken or doing it wrong when we're stressed or struggling. She writes:“As our world clashes and collapses around us, it's no surprise that one in two of us will be diagnosed with a mental health condition by the age of forty. It's hard to view all our mental health symptoms as disordered if so many of us are experiencing them. Perhaps it's not that something's gone wrong in our bodies and minds, but that something's gone right: These symptoms are brilliant alarms and adaptations to help us survive in a disordered world. Having sensitive protective functions that sound alarms or short-circuit when we're threatened isn't a design flaw. It's a design success.”Her words, and the deeply compassionate, expansive set of insights, tools, and practices she offers in her book, and through the powerful work she does in the world,Invite us into a space of empowerment, connection, and hope. It's the type of action-oriented hope that stems from grounded possibility. The possibility that when we care for both ourselves and our collectives, And learn to understand and befriend our alarms we can come together to solve the shared problems they're signaling,we can heal the systems that are making us all sick, And we can build a healthier future together. With over 20 years of experience in the fashion industry, she helps clients step into their power by dressing like their most unstoppable selves. Dressing as your true self and expressing who you really are changes more than how you look. The frequency of what you put in shifts your reality and helps you become your next-level self. In this episode, you will learn about: Who investing in fashion is actually for (despite what some people believe). How expressing who you really are through your wardrobe can change your life. Rev. 5:1-14 depicts a dramatic heavenly scene in which the Lamb alone is worthy and able to take and open what is referred to as a βιβλίον (biblion) with seven seals and inscribed in a particular way. The attempt to gain a more precise mental picture of this literary object and its nature as a text includes matters of word meaning and textual criticism. The Transformative Power of Travel: How Exploring the World Improves Mental Health and Broadens PerspectivesWhen most people think about travel benefits, they envision scenic photographs, exotic cuisine, and passport stamps. Yet seasoned travelers know something profound that doesn't appear in glossy brochures: the most transformative advantage of exploring the world isn't what you see, but how it reshapes your mental landscape.Travel industry veteran Michael Bennett, who has documented experiences across dozens of countries and continents, emphasizes an often-overlooked truth about wanderlust. The single most significant benefit isn't adventure or relaxation—it's comprehensive mental and physical health improvement that Americans desperately need but rarely prioritize.Americans face a unique challenge that most European nations have already solved. While European countries typically provide employees 30 days of annual vacation, workers in the United States often struggle to use even two weeks. This work-centric culture creates a mental health crisis where professionals become trapped in cycles of stress without adequate recovery time.High-pressure careers demand periods of mental decompression. Your brain requires distance from constant work demands to maintain optimal functioning. The transformation happens gradually during travel—typically requiring two to three days before your mind finally disconnects from occupational stress and begins authentic relaxation. This mental reset differs fundamentally from weekend getaways or staycations. Immersing yourself in foreign environments where you navigate unfamiliar languages, customs, and daily routines forces your consciousness to engage differently. Rather than ruminating on workplace problems, your attention shifts toward immediate cultural experiences and problem-solving in novel contexts.Childhood experiences in international settings create lasting impacts on worldview formation. Growing up as a military dependent who lived in Madrid, Spain during formative years provided Bennett with perspectives that many Americans never develop. This early international exposure cultivated crucial life skills that extend far beyond simple cultural awareness.International travel teaches tolerance and appreciation for diverse perspectives in ways that domestic experiences cannot replicate. Americans often harbor misconceptions about cultural superiority—believing the United States represents the pinnacle of civilization, technology, and social development. This mindset crumbles quickly when experiencing thriving cultures abroad. The mental health benefits of international travel extend far beyond temporary stress relief. Experiencing different cultures, navigating unfamiliar environments, building problem-solving confidence, and gaining perspective on global diversity create lasting psychological transformation.Americans particularly need this medicine—a culture that undervalues vacation time and overemphasizes work produces stressed, narrow-minded individuals lacking appreciation for life's possibilities. Breaking free from this pattern doesn't require elaborate planning or significant wealth, merely willingness to confront unfounded fears and prioritize experiential growth over material accumulation.Support the showTripCast360 --- It's all about travel, lifestyle and entertainment.Web: TripCast360.com.Twit: https://twitter.com/TripCast360FB: https://www.facebook.com/TripCast360Insta: https://www.instagram.com/tripcast360/

What if your next trip did more than entertain you—what if it changed you? We sit down with Jake Haupert, founder of the Transformational Travel Council, to unpack how intentional journeys can help you stretch, learn, and grow into new ways of being. Rather than racing through bucket lists, Jake invites us to slow down, clarify our why, and design experiences that align with values, purpose, and community. We explore a practical framework built on the hero's journey—departure, initiation, return—and show how it maps onto real travel. You'll hear how to prepare before you go by naming the call to adventure, how to engage during the trip with reflection, play, and curiosity, and how to integrate after you return so insights become habits instead of fading with the jet lag. Jake introduces the Four Houses—introspection, bridging, expansion, integration—to guide travelers and hosts alike toward deeper connection with self, others, nature, and systems. We also tackle the hard truths: modern tourism can be extractive and superficial. Jake shares how regenerative, community-led design can align destinations, hotels, guides, and attractions around shared purpose so both places and people thrive. And we look at the role of technology, pairing AI with authentic intelligence to free up more human presence, empathy, and meaning-making in hospitality. If you're a traveler craving purpose or a pro ready to build experiences that truly matter, this conversation offers tools, language, and next steps. Bring one guiding question to your next journey, and watch the map change under your feet. Enjoy the episode, and if it resonated, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a quick review to help others find it.
There's a proven link between physical fitness and sales performance. My guest this week, wellbeing and performance expert George Anderson, joins me to share his strategies for boosting energy, focus which I'm sure you'll agree are key ingredients for thriving in the demanding world of sales. We discuss the impact of daily habits like morning routines, and mindful "powering down" at the end of the day. You'll also be inspired by George's personal ultramarathon journey and learn practical tips for overcoming common obstacles like lack of time and burnout. If you're ready to enhance your performance from the inside out, this episode is packed with wisdom you won't want to miss. Outline of This Episode 00:00 The link between fitness and professional performance. 03:41 The power of going out for a walk. 05:01 Morning routines and their impact on productivity. 08:00 Stress, sleep, and its impact on performance. 11:45 Overcoming the all-or-nothing mindset. 17:02 Daily habits for productivity. The Transformative Power of Simple Habits Focusing only on cardiovascular fitness or gym sessions misses the bigger picture. True performance is rooted in holistic health, encompassing sleep, nutrition, hydration, recovery, and regular movement. If you've ever struggled through a rough day after poor sleep or noticed your creativity wane following unhealthy meals, you've experienced firsthand how interconnected physical health is with workplace effectiveness. As George says, physical fitness is a leverage point every high performer should bear in mind, but most underuse. Getting outside and moving, whether with a pet, a friend, or solo, creates a positive domino effect on energy, mood, and focus. Its simplicity makes it sustainable, and regularity ensures lasting benefits. Developing non-negotiable habits like morning walks or regular breaks can dramatically shift the way you tackle your sales day. Three Energy-Boosting Habits for Sales Professionals Consistency is key to managing the high demands of sales. George Anderson recommends three fitness and lifestyle habits that seamlessly boost energy and resilience: Intentional Morning Routine: Avoid starting your day by immediately reaching for your phone. Instead, take time for yourself before the flood of emails or social media notifications. Set your own agenda before reacting to others'. Transitional Rituals: Clearly separate work and home time, especially when working remotely. Use short walks or reflective pauses to shift mental gears, preventing emotional residue from spilling into your personal life. Power Down Protocol: Shut off screens and calm your mind before bed. A deliberate wind-down helps ensure quality sleep, which directly impacts your motivation, creativity, and ability to handle stress the next day. Battling Stress, Burnout, and "No Time" Syndrome Sales professionals face constant pressure, deadlines, targets, and relentless meetings. The most common barrier to wellness is time, many feel that unless their exercise session lasts an hour, it's not worth starting. George's antidote is the "plus one" principle. Instead of all-or-nothing thinking, start with what you're doing now, and add just one increment, such as a 10-minute workout or a walk around the block. Small, consistent changes not only fit into the busiest of schedules but also spark a positive chain reaction, improving other choices throughout your day. Recognizing burnout and fatigue can be tricky. Lifestyle missteps, late nights, skipped workouts, are obvious, but functional burnout often creeps in unnoticed. Tuning into your body's signals and noticing when productivity drops or motivation fades is essential. Take ownership of incremental changes, even if the workload is outside your control. Fitness Do's and Don'ts for High-Performing Salespeople George Anderson shares actionable dos and don'ts: Don'ts: Avoid reaching for your phone first thing in the morning. Don't sit down all day, take real breaks and step away from your desk. Limit relentless back-to-back virtual meetings to preserve focus. Do's: Incorporate purposeful movement every day (walks, short workouts). Be intentional with routines, morning, transitional, power-down. Reflect daily on habits and celebrate wins, while seeking improvement. Achieving Big Goals Through Better Health Physical fitness isn't just theory for George. When training for a 24-hour ultramarathon, he adapted his methods to fit his evolving life circumstances and age. He advises that whatever you want to achieve set a goal, something you can't do right now, then use creativity and commitment to overcome obstacles. Constraints may be inevitable, but resourcefulness keeps progress within reach.
