The writer Ta-Nehisi Coates was harshly critical of my response to Charlie Kirk's assassination. In an article in Vanity Fair, he suggested I was whitewashing Kirk's legacy, comparing it to the whitewashing of the Southern cause after the Civil War.So I wanted to have Coates on the show to talk out our disagreement, as well as some deeper questions that I think exist underneath it about the work of politics. What should the left do about the fact that so many Americans share Kirk's views? What kinds of disagreements should we try to bridge? When is that work moral and necessary, and when is it a betrayal? This episode contains strong language.Mentioned:“Charlie Kirk, Redeemed: A Political Class Finds Its Lost Cause” by Ta-Nehisi CoatesBetween the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates“My President Was Black” by Ta-Nehisi CoatesBook Recommendations:The Brothers by Stephen KinzerRace and Reunion by David W. The fight over redistricting is still unfolding, but its potential to reshape Congress—and the way Washington works—is already raising alarms. If the current trajectory continues, it could sideline moderates, deepen partisan divides, and make compromise on federal spending even more elusive. That could have serious implications for federal workers, especially as collective bargaining faces new threats and the possibility of a government shutdown looms. I'll unpack the stakes with WTOP Capitol Hill correspondent Mitchell Miller.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Unleashed: The Political News Hour with Chris Cordani – Governor Hochul and New York Democrats push aggressive gerrymandering under the guise of fairness, drawing national scrutiny. I expose how media outlets selectively defend this power grab while ignoring blatant hypocrisy. With partisan maps and manipulated narratives, the real threat to democracy emerges—not from redistricting alone, but from a press that distorts facts...

The US Supreme Court struggled with where to draw the appropriate lines in bread-and-butter cases involving Nvidia Corp., criminal law, and immigration deadlines. In the securities case, the court looked for what Chief Justice John Roberts called a "sweet spot" in the Nvidia investor suit alleging the chipmaker at the heart of the AI boom misled the public about its dependence on crypto-mining revenue. In the criminal case, the justices described the argument that an attempted murder-for-hire scheme isn't a crime of violence as "absurd." But they found similar irrationality in the government's argument on the other side. And finally, the justices similarly struggled over whether to give immigrants who voluntarily agree to leave the country more flexibility to appeal their deportation. Cases and Controversies hosts Kimberly Robinson and Greg Stohr breakdown the justices' concerns in the latest episode. Hosts: Kimberly Robinson and Lydia Wheeler. Producer: Mo Barrow.
