Evan & Zubin met at Venture for America's second ever Training Camp and knew it was business partners at first sight. Evan spent his VFA Fellowship in Detroit as VP of Business Development at Benzinga while Zubin worked as the Manager of Business Development at IDScan in New Orleans. They always kept in touch, bouncing startup ideas off of each other in preparation to build a company. Evan had his "AHA" moment at a basketball tournament in Detroit where he realized that the best way for companies to connect with families was through youth sports games. He called Zubin with his idea and LeagueSide was born! Evan & Zubin joined the first ever VFA Accelerator at the end of their Fellowships with just an idea and finished 3 months later with real clients and a growing business. They have since hired a VFA Fellow as their first employee and continue to grow and scale at a rapid pace. Check out this week's episode of the Venture for America podcast to hear more about LeagueSide's fumbles and recoveries and their passion for lowering the cost of youth sports for kids.

You Don't Know Anything "Everything you think you know, you don't. Go out and solicit advice. If you don't understand an industry or if you question what you're doing or something within your company happens and you are unsure of. Go out and find people that can answer the question." Said Zubin Teherani. Sell It Before You Build It "Sometimes you think it's (your business) a great idea, and you want to pursue it, but the only real validation are your customers. With Leagueside before we started, we sold something we didn't have. We sold it and then our customers totally saw the value in what we were bringing to the table and then finally we realized we were onto something." Said Zubin Teherani. Never Stop Learning "Surround yourself with brilliant people. Read or listen to everything you can. Constantly have that want to get better and if you're passionate, things will fall into place." Said Zubin Teherani Zubin wants to also discuss how important Venture for America meant to him. Although, he did not speak about it in the podcast. Here is another take away from Zubin. "Another important thing about becoming an entrepreneur is surrounding yourself with other kickass people. I was fortunate enough to join Venture for America post-graduation which is a 2-year fellowship whose mission is to launch the next generation of entrepreneurs. VFA sends recent graduates to work for startups in emerging cities like Detroit and Cleveland, and really engrained this idea of social entrepreneurship in me. I spent my fellowship in New Orleans and learned a ton working for an ID scanning company down there." said Zubin Teherani #Timestamp 00:30- Introduction 01:20- Passion comes from ADD 03:45- Struggles in Starting LeagueSide 05:30- Biggest Failure 06:45- Habits Throughout Your Career 07:45- Pomodoro Technique 11:00- Life as an Entrepreneur 15:00- You Don't Know Anything, Sell It Before You Build It, and Never Stop Learning 18:00- Sushi Burrito's!
