The greatest technical accomplishment of taking SNME on the road for over 3,000 KM was only circumvented by the technology deciding to crap out at the last minute! Fear not though, as through several acts of computer know-how, a few choice insults and the possible enlisting of Papa Shango, this week's edition of SNME Radio is here! This week, Mike McGuire and the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer talk a lot about wrestlers' salaries, the Tammy Sytch saga, Ric Flair returning to the ring at 73, Roman Reigns' reduced schedule, and if Ronda Rousey needs to let her actions do the talking as SmackDown Women's Champion. Also, you'll meet Kat Von Heez, a wrestler out of Winnipeg who has toured North America for over a decade now on the indies. She'll tell us some of her story, as well as be back on SNME Radio in the future to dive into all things wresting! Thank you for your patience on this week's episode, I think it's worth the wait! That said, this will never happen again... fingers crossed - MM

This episode is LOADED with news, notes, background history, fun anecdotes, a deep dive into the ENTIRE WWF roster leading into 87, and yes plenty of SOUNDBITES for your listening pleasure! Some of the topics discussed on this episode of the Grenade include...VINCE MCMAHON'S PILLAGING OF THE MONTREAL TERRITORY - The WWF swoops in to take the remaining top stars of the Montreal territory including the Rougeau Brothers, Rick Martel, and Dino Bravo!THE HOT FEUDS OF 1986 - We discuss at length the hottest feuds of 1986 that carry over into the new year, including PIPER VS. ADONIS, SAVAGE VS. STEAMBOAT, AND HULK HOGAN VS. "MR. WONDERFUL" PAUL ORNDORFF! Plus, Ray discusses the Orndorff heel turn, the financial success of the Hogan/Orndorff feud on the house shows, the underlying Macho Man vs. Bruno Sammartino feud that came out of the Steamboat injury, Adrian Adoni's "firing" and rehiring in the midst of his feud with the Hot Rod, and so much more!HEEL REFEREE DANNY DAVIS - We document many of the concerning issues inside the ring with questionable referee Danny Davis throughout the fall and early winter of 1986. Jack Tunney would have to be blind not to see the shenanigans caused by Davis, and the worst is yet to come!ANDRE THE GIANT MAKES HIS TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO THE WWF! - We look at Andre's acromegaly, his "suspension" from the WWF, his stint in New Japan following WrestleMania 2, his return to the WWF as THE GIANT MACHINE, his time away to film The Princess Bride, and Andre's return to the company following a questionable hearing in which Andre wasn't a part of... but Bobby Heenan was!!! HmmmmmTHE HONKY TONK MAN TURNS HEEL - We discuss one of the shortest babyface runs in WWF history as the Honky Tonk Man arrives with support from the likes of WWF Champion Hulk Hogan, but the fans just aren't buying it. Lou Albano and Big John Studd!NEWCOMERS IN 1986 - We run down the list of many of the talents who arrived on the scene in 1986 and discuss what they've accomplished this far and where they're at, headed into 1987. Ware, the formation of the Islanders tag team, The Rougeau Brothers, Blackjack Mulligan, Tom Magee, "Outlaw" Ron Bass, Brad Rheingans, Sika the Wild Samoan, "Ugandan Headhunter" Kamala, Dr. of Style Slick along with his protege "The Natural" Butch Reed, Ken Patera released from prison, Outback Jack taking QANTAS to the States. WHO WAS NEXT IN LINE FOR "THE NATURAL" CHARACTER IF BUTCH REED HAD BACKED OUT??WHAT PROMO GOT PRO WRESTLING BANNED FROM RAY RUSSELL'S BEDROOM TV???JIM NEIDHART'S TROUBLED PAST - What started out as research for the January 1987 arrest of Jim Neidhart following an alleged assault of a flight attendant, turned into an exposé of sorts on the legal troubles of the Anvil. While uncovering the full story of what took place aboard the U.S. Air Flight in 1987, I also uncovered several stories dating back to the 1970s including one of Neidhart leaping off a 4th story balcony with a Fire Extinguisher strapped to his back and swinging from 4 bed sheets tied together like Tarzan into a lower level apartment's plate glass window. Unbelievable! From there we look at Vince McMahon fronting Neidhart the money (and the attorney) to sue the Airlines, a case that Neidhart won (over $300,000 in 1991 money) and then refused to pay McMahon back! Crack is a helluva drug!WRESTLING INJURIES - PAUL ORNDORFF & THE DYNAMITE KID - We look at the knee injury of Dan Spivey and the broken toes of Jacques Rougeau before getting to the real meat of the Injury Stories leading into 1987. First, we take a look at the nerve damage to the neck and shoulder of "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, his refusal to take time off, and all of this leading to atrophy in his right arm. From there, we move on to the case of the Dynamite Kid, another man who was working with multiple injuries before they caught up to him one December night in Toronto. We discuss the temporary paralyzing back injury of Dynamite, the surgery that followed, and the ramifications that would plague him for the remainder of his wrestling career.WRESTLEMANIA III NEWS - We look at the initial plans to have WrestleMania 3 in three different locations yet again, what caused the decision to be nixed, and some of Dave Meltzer's guesses as to the matches on the big show, involving the likes of Mr. T teaming with Roddy Piper, a babyface return of Big John Studd, and Bruno Sammartino stepping into the ring to team with VINCE MCMAHON!!!WWF ON FOX - The fledgling Fox Broadcasting Company acquires the WWF on many of their larger city FOX affiliates, prompting all local affiliates to go with the WWF should they want wrestling programs on their station!HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD - Acting fever is in the air, all the way back in the mid-1980s. Everyone wants to be in the pictures including Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Ricky Steamboat, Big John Studd, and Hulk Hogan... brother!HERE & THERE - Random bits of news and notes discussing Roddy Piper's refusal to work the Pacific Northwest shots due to his loyalty to promoter Don Owen. Hot Rod no showing Fresno due to a High-Speed Chase with the law. The WWF putting the screws to JCP as they create their own Bunkhouse Battle Royals. The WWF adding a THIRD HOUSE SHOW every night, and much more!AND THEN THE FUN BEGINS!! PULL UP YOUR COPY OF THE WWF ROSTER!!!We've made it available on social media, Twitter, Facebook, Patreon.com/WrestleCopiaIt's the full 1986/1987 WWF ROSTER as we analyze and dissect over SEVENTY, that's 70 SUPERSTARS!!! A LIVE full show review of WWE SmackDown, with results, a full breakdown and opinion for May 6th, 2022 with JDfromNY. WWE originally announced that Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro would be facing SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos in a title unification match at WrestleMania Backlash. Dave Meltzer is now reporting in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that “the six-man tag match was always the planned match. There was never a plan to do the unification match.” WWE is blatantly lying to dirt sheet writers, and taking their fans for granted. WWE SmackDown May 6th, 2022:
Cowboy James Storm and Steve Austin are sharing their tag team pet peeves, and the worst matches of their respective careers (at least according to Dave Meltzer). They're also talking Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart, the Superkick, the Stone Cold Stunner, cars, vegetarians, and 80s heavy metal.
This week, Mike McGuire catches up with the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer to break down the recent WWE NXT Releases. They also talk about how NXT's talent business model may be changing to more of a short-term program, and how the WWE Stadium experiment could go, as well as more in-depth conversation about AEW/NJPW's "Forbidden Door" PPV. Also, SNME Original, Dan "The Mouth" Lovranski along with All Elite Weekly co-host Joe Aguinaldo join Mike as our AEW enthusiasts to talk all about the status of AEW as a whole, what they love as fans, and the two take sides on who would be the better champion for AEW moving forward.
For the 277th edition of Wrestling With the Dawg Podcast, the Dirty Dawg Darsie dives into THE GRAVE ALIVE to discuss the Buried Alive match from WWF Rock Bottom 1998 between Steve Austin and the Undertaker! The Dawg gets into finishes the WWF was a-doing during the time frame, Attitude Era main event match stipulations, getting his philosopher hat on and questioning what angles and storylines go too far (written about by Dave Meltzer), and so much more for FlairFlop.com and for the When It Was Cool Podcast Network! This week, we talk all about AEW x NJPW's "Forbidden Door" Pay-Per-View. Could Pat McAfee be "primed" to go to Amazon? A Miro Update and more are on the way! Mike McGuire walks through some of the New Japan Roster with the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer and talk about who could be a part of what could be AEW's most ambitious Pay-Per-View offering to date! Also, the guys tackle stories this week including the continued Bret Hart/FTR alliance, and Dave joins Mike for a second segment, chronicling the career of Randy Orton who marks his 20th year working for WWE!

Kris & David are back this week with a Patreon pick, as Mike Poulin put down the $25 for us to talk about the week-plus that was April 6-13, 1986. We start off with the WWF, which of course means WrestleMania 2—which was covered unusually in-depth by mid-1980s Observer standards—as we talk about both the business end in-ring ends of the show, which, at that time, featured Dave Meltzer's pick for the worst match of all time. We then go International, talking about Hiroshi Wajima starting up his training in the All Japan dojo, rumors of Lex Luger heading to New Japan, the death of El Solitario, and more. Back in the United States, we talk about the burgeoning babyface indie scene, some great Memphis TV featuring Jos LeDuc as well as Jeff Jarrett's first TV match, Dick Slater whipping Sting's ass in the locker room (complete with Tracy Smothers' eyewitness account), the Freebirds teasing a breakup in Dallas, and, among other things, ”Baby Bull" Leon White getting an AWA World Heavyweight Title program with champion Stan Hansen. We then close with an unusually slim Jim Crockett Promotions section, but it features some great Ric Flair vs. Ricky Morton feud clips from a weekend where they dominated the TV shows. All that and much more on a WrestleMania-heavy edition of Between The Sheets!Timestamps:0:00:00 WWF1:41:52 Int'l: AJPW, NJPW, Stampede, El Solitario, EMLL, Monterrey, UWA, & WWC2:00:45 Classic Commercial Break2:05:20 Halftime2:28:47 USA East: NWF, PWUSA, CWF, CCW, & Memphis3:09:45 USA West: UWF, Houston, WCCW, TASW, Central States, AWA, & Portland4:11:12 Jim Crockett Promotions4:37:19 Patreon Preview: The WWF issues a press release bragging about WrestleMania III's record-breaking attendance…of 88,000?!?!?!?To support the show and get access to exclusive rewards like special members-only monthly themed shows, go to our Patreon page at Patreon.com/BetweenTheSheets and become an ongoing Patron.
