we’re visiting our parents right now. we is me and rebs and pegs. there are five adults and three dogs in the house. my aunt and her poms are here too. i’m including myself as one of the adults. if i counted myself as one of the dogs, then we’d be more evenly matched - four on four. it’s almost a basketball game, if dogs could play basketball. oh wait, air bud. i have a hard time walking on all fours though. a generally hard time just getting up from being down on the ground. rebs said that she recommends to her clients that have a difficult time getting up from the ground, whenever we do get up we should do it twice. maybe if we just did twice everything that was hard in life we would have twice the amount of suffering. and then the world would be a better place for all. is that how it works? pet a dog.DOWNLOAD RECORDINGsubscribe to the podcast here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/5432fun00:00 (intro by omar)00:20 The Paranoyds “Freak Out” Eat Their Own03:43 Pleasure systems “Cautiously” Terraform07:37 Mal Blum “Things Still Left To Say” Pity Boy10:07 Bobby’s Oar “Life Fights Back” Knots EP13:20 The Glow “Lose” Am I14:50 Mr. Husband “Friends” …& The Husky Section18:00 Loamlands “Blue” Lez Dance21:54 SNAKESKIN “Toy Car” I Love My Room26:00 Russian Tsarlag “Bring Me Back Home” Out of Reach29:37 Thick paint “meridian response” a perennial approach to free time34:35 Slush “Keep Cup” Slush37:02 Brick Brick “Fill Me Up” Chip 4 Chip39:49 Sequoyah Murray “True Fun” Penalties of Love43:51 Konig “Eat Each Other Alive” House Of Prayer46:40 Lucy Roleff “Silver” Left Open in a Room49:51 Strangers “30 Day Free Trial” good enough52:13 Likes “New Pedal” New Pedal53:43 Spencer Owen Timeshare “(Biker With) a Deathwish” Presentation

Loamlands leader Kym Register stops by and discovers just how many hypothetical Neon Boots events we have planned for The Pinhook, the Durham bar where they are the head honcho, before we try to decipher what the hell is going on in 90s music videos. Then we discuss the process of coming out (as gay or vegetarian) in the 90s country scene along with identity politics and the importance of the queer country label. Rachel's pick: Goodbye Says It All by BlackHawk, 1993 Spencer's pick: Single White Female by Chely Wright, 1999 Kym's pick: Constant Craving by k.d. lang, 1992 Check out Kym's music and tour dates at http://www.loamlandsmusic.com

Hey everyone, Got a really nice change of pace here for you. It is definitely not the jams. Today, we're dealing with some heavier lyrical content, which is part of what took me a little longer to actually sit down and record it. Some of it is downright difficult material so I didn't have the same excitement to talk about it as I often do. That said, there's some powerful stuff here. Hope you like it.   Thanks for listening and don't forget to support the artists.   Aaron     Tracklist 1.Little River by Loamlands on Sweet High Rise 2.Meet Me in L.a. by George Stanford on Roll Away 3.Blue Ridge Mountains by Fleet Foxes on Fleet Foxes 4.Gold Dust Woman by Fleetwood Mac on Rumours 5.My Lover's Gone by Dido on No Angel 6.Hollywood Forever by FINNEAS on Hollywood Forever 7.Guilty Party by The National on Sleep Well Beast 8.Open End Resource by Andrew Bayer on In My Last Life 9.Roll Back by George FitzGerald and Lil Silva on All That Must Be 10.I Adore by Laura Misch on I Adore 11.Young by Vallis Alps on Vallis Alps 12.Midas (feat. The new duo immediately set to work constructing their debut EP Some Kind of Light due out September 24th on Trekky Records. In July, the duo set to work to record the EP with Brad Cook from Megafaun on the bass and Kyle Keegan from Lost in the Trees behind the drums. These five songs pull from a lot of the great talent surrounding them in this musical hotspot, but when put together create something entirely new. This EP is a promising glimpse at what is in store for this experienced duo. Be sure to tune into The Local Beat on September 20th for our exclusive Local Artist of the Month interview and live performance from Loamlands.
