What happens to a believer the moment they die, and what exactly do we receive when we get to heaven? In this powerful message Pastor Robby Dobbs from CityRise Bellaire unpacks 2 Corinthians 5:1-8 to show us how the certainty of heaven should completely change the way we live today. Pastor Robby compares our earthly, physical bodies to temporary "tents" that wear out, fade, and face suffering. But as Christians, we have a promise from God: an eternal, permanent building waiting for us in glory—a new resurrection body completely free from pain, disease, aging, and sin. Discover how the Holy Spirit acts as God's secure down payment on your future, giving you a daily confidence to walk by faith, not by sight, no matter how uncertain your current circumstances might feel. Death isn't the end for a believer; it is a beautiful homecoming into the arms of Jesus.
Pastor Robby Strock: God's love is how we are to love. A love that brings hope, peace, and joy.
You cannot sit on the fence! Put away your old self and clothe yourselves with a new Christly self. One who is made in the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
This week, Pastor Robby reminds us that yesterday is not today. The things that defined us yesterday don’t have to define us today, and the things that were bad yesterday can be used for good today. In Lamentations 3:22-23, we read that God’s mercies begin afresh each morning. One second is all it takes for the clock to flip from 11:59:59 p.m. to 12:00:00 a.m. and for our lives to change forever. This encouraging word uses two different healings from the New Testament — the blind man in John 9 and the lame man in John 5 — to point us back to the source of these changes: Jesus. Encountering “That Man” is what causes the clock to flip, and it’s not just a one-time occurrence. He will meet us over and over, showing up when we need Him most and revealing different aspects of His character.

In December 2023, Pastor Robby unexpectedly lost his only child, Kylie. Despite being raised in church and having a great relationship with God, nothing could prepare him for the tragedy, and in the aftermath of her passing, he has faced countless questions and a lot of searching. Even now, he still can’t fully process the grief and cope with the new world in which he and his wife are living. This week, Robby opens up about his experience and the many “God moments” that have led him back to the pulpit. Amid all the things he still doesn’t know or understand, he has discovered that there is one thing he has needed more than anything: hope. Together, we will discover that hope has a name, and it’s Jesus. In fact, the name of Jesus contains everything we could ever want or need.

Pastor Robby shows that Jesus's question, "What do you want me to do for you?" is an introspective one, asking us to examine our own hearts as we answer. Consider this question yourself, as you listen to Pastor Robby teach on the healing of the blind Bartimaeus.
