Text: Romans 12:1-2 The Mercies of God is the Basis For the Challenge of Total Commitment GRACE, is when we get what we don't deserve. MERCY, is when we don't get what we DO deserve. Total Commitment Means Being Totally Transformed. The word we get transformed is where we get the word metamorphosis. It's continual and gradual. We should allow the Holy Spirit to help. (2 Corinthians 3:18) In order to know the will of God, we must surrender to that will.

Overview: This week invites a deep turning inward. The New Moon in Libra opens a portal for recalibrating relationships and restoring inner balance after months of disruption. As Neptune re-enters Pisces, we begin the final chapter of a 14-year collective dream cycle—time to dissolve what's illusion and harvest what's true from our spiritual and creative evolution since 2011. The Sun's move into Scorpio and a cascade of aspects between Jupiter, Chiron, and Pluto intensify the alchemical work—shadow integration, emotional honesty, and soulful truth-telling. By the weekend, Mercury trines Saturn, grounding the revelations of the week into practical wisdom.Tuesday, October 21 – New Moon in Libra This New Moon at 28° Libra invites you to seed new relational patterns founded on authentic harmony, not people-pleasing. Libra's evolutionary task is to balance the dance between self and other—how to stay centered in your truth while staying connected. After recent Pluto-Venus shifts, this lunation renews your capacity for grace under transformation. Reflection: What new relational agreement—inner or outer—wants to be born from truth, not habit?Wednesday, October 22 – Neptune re-enters Pisces; Sun enters ScorpioNeptune's return to Pisces (through January 2026) completes the vast oceanic cycle that began in 2011. This is the closing dream—time to discern which visions still hold soul truth and which dissolve into mist. The Sun's shift into Scorpio deepens this inquiry, illuminating what must be released for renewal. The veils thin, inviting compassionate surrender and courageous descent.Reflection: What illusions are ready to dissolve so your truer vision can emerge?Thursday, October 23 – Jupiter in Cancer square Chiron in Aries Expanding beyond old emotional defenses, this tension invites healing around belonging and self-protection. Jupiter amplifies the need for emotional security, while Chiron exposes the wounds that prevent full self-trust. Growth arises from vulnerability—learning to nurture without over-giving.Reflection: Where does your growth now require tenderness instead of toughness? Friday, October 24 – Sun in Scorpio square Pluto in AquariusThis potent square exposes the power dynamics in your relationships and your psyche. Transformation accelerates when you face control, fear, or resistance with honesty. Pluto in Aquarius asks for collective evolution; the Sun in Scorpio demands emotional integrity. Together, they burn away falseness so something new can be born from the ashes.Reflection: What truth wants to surface, no matter how uncomfortable, to set you free?Saturday, October 25 – Mercury in Scorpio trine Saturn in PiscesAfter an intense week, this trine grounds insights into words and form. Deep communication and intuitive clarity become available. Saturn helps you translate the ineffable into structure—journaling, ritual, or commitments that honor your truth.Reflection: What truth or insight is ready to be named and anchored into practice? Great Is Thy Faithfulness: Morning by Morning, New Mercies #RTTBROS #Nightlight"It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." — Lamentations 3:22-23Some of the most beautiful songs come from the darkest places. Take the hymn "Great Is Thy Faithfulness." You'd think it was written during some mountaintop experience, some season of overwhelming blessing. But the scripture it's based on, Lamentations 3, was written by Jeremiah while watching Jerusalem burn.Let me paint you the picture: Jeremiah had spent forty years warning God's people to turn from their sin. Nobody listened. Now he's sitting in the rubble of his destroyed city, everything he'd known and loved reduced to ashes. And in the middle of that absolute devastation, he writes these words about God's faithfulness.Thomas Chisholm, who wrote the hymn in 1923, understood something of life's difficulties. He struggled with poor health most of his life and wasn't writing from a place of prosperity or ease. He was writing from lived experience, from having watched God prove faithful morning after morning, year after year, even when circumstances were hard. Here's what I love about this hymn: it's not about dramatic miracles or huge interventions. Look at the words: "Morning by morning new mercies I see." Not once in a lifetime. Not occasionally when things get really bad. Morning by morning. Every single day. It's the faithfulness of God in the ordinary moments, the daily provision, the steady presence that never wavers.I think sometimes we're looking for God to show up in the earthquake, the fire, the mighty wind, and we miss Him in the still small voice. We're waiting for the Red Sea to part when God's already providing manna for today."All I have needed Thy hand hath provided." That's a testimony to God's faithful provision of exactly what we need, when we need it. Not always what we want. Not always what we ask for. But what we need.I'm reminded of God's promise to the Israelites in the wilderness. He gave them manna every morning, enough for that day. God was teaching them to trust Him day by day, morning by morning. That's hard for us, isn't it? We want next week figured out, next month secured, next year planned. But God says, "Trust Me for today."Jeremiah was right when he wrote those words in Lamentations, and Chisholm was right when he turned them into this hymn, and it's still true today. God's faithfulness hasn't diminished one bit. His mercies are still new every morning. His compassions still don't fail. And great, truly great, is His faithfulness. So whatever you're facing today, remember: you don't need strength for next week's trial. You just need what God has for you this morning. And guess what? It's already there, fresh and new, waiting for you like manna on the ground.Prayer:Father, thank You that Your faithfulness never wavers, never fails. Help us to see Your mercies new every morning, to recognize Your provision in the ordinary moments, and to trust Your faithfulness even when circumstances are hard. Give us eyes to see all You've already given, and hearts that rest in Your unchanging nature. In Jesus' name, Amen.Be sure to Like, Share, Follow and subscribe it helps get the word out.https://linktr.ee/rttbros
In this episode of The GoodKind Podcast, hosts Clayton Greene, Amy Kavanaugh, and Chris Pappalardo talk about something every family faces — getting sick. From sniffles to stomach bugs, they explore how illness disrupts routines, work, and family rhythms — and what it reveals about rest, responsibility, and our human limits. The conversation moves from hilarious sick-day stories to deeper reflections on how the Bible talks about illness, what it means to truly rest, and how to balance care, community, and calling when someone is under the weather. They even debate whether sickness is spiritual, physical, or just part of being human. With a mix of laughter and insight, this episode reminds listeners that slowing down — even when forced to — can be a gift.TakeawaysThe “how sick is too sick” question is universal — and complicated. Our attitudes about illness often reflect how we view work, identity, and responsibility. The Bible doesn't ignore sickness — it connects physical and spiritual wholeness.True rest sometimes means letting go of control and trusting others to carry on.Parenting teaches triage — knowing what's urgent and what can wait.Caring for a sick child can become a moment of unexpected connection and grace. It's okay to actually enjoy a sick day if it helps you rest and recover.Learning to pause reminds us: we're not indispensable, and that's freeingResourcesThe Anxious Generation by Jonathan HaidtThe Hidden Genius of the Life We're Looking For by Andy CrouchChatter by Ethan KrossFranz Anton Mesmer (the origin of “mesmerize” — yes, really)

Weirdly, amazon added the subtitle "A Detective Mystery" to Small Mercies. When one of the best things about this book is that it's NOT a detective at the center. You all know this genre isn't my usual fare, but Lehane's historical focus, together with his excellent prose, and dialogue (plus plot, duh) made this so satisfying to dive into.

This week, Pastor Robby reminds us that yesterday is not today. The things that defined us yesterday don’t have to define us today, and the things that were bad yesterday can be used for good today. In Lamentations 3:22-23, we read that God’s mercies begin afresh each morning. One second is all it takes for the clock to flip from 11:59:59 p.m. to 12:00:00 a.m. and for our lives to change forever. This encouraging word uses two different healings from the New Testament — the blind man in John 9 and the lame man in John 5 — to point us back to the source of these changes: Jesus. Encountering “That Man” is what causes the clock to flip, and it’s not just a one-time occurrence. He will meet us over and over, showing up when we need Him most and revealing different aspects of His character.

In this week's Haftarah, God promises those who come to Him for guidance the same mercies given to King David, himself. What hope do we have of meriting such things as "the man after God's own heart" received from On High? Well ... given King David's nearly bipolar history of glories and errors – it turns out, our chances are pretty good. Let's study and see.

Responsibility of Believers The message is directed towards church members, highlighting their responsibilities. Romans is full of inexhaustible treasure and truth. Beseeching Believers A call to action based on Romans 12:1-2: Present bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. This is considered a reasonable service. Do not be conformed to the world. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Prove what is good, acceptable, and the perfect will of God. Memories and Inspiration A reflection on attending a communion service at Millers Cove and remembering men of God from the past who preached the Word. These men's teachings made a significant difference. Grace and Responsibility Grace is essential for salvation, and nothing can be added to it. Salvation is by grace through faith, a gift from God, not of works. There is a call to heed what the apostle is trying to convey to believers. The Widow's Offering The story of the widow who gave all she had (two mites) is used as an example. Jesus noticed her sacrifice, while others did not. She gave from her poverty, while others gave from their abundance. This illustrates the concept of giving one's all to God daily as a living sacrifice. Living Sacrifice God needs those who are alive, committed, and sold out to Him. The apostle beseeches believers to understand the importance of this concept for their lives and to bring honor to God. These actions enable believers to experience God's work in their lives. Gifts from God Everyone receives a gift from God when they are saved. This gift can be shared with others, even if it's just a testimony. A good testimony from a heart sold out to God can lead others to salvation and hope. God has given everyone work to do. Urgency and Transformation Beseeching involves urging with conviction. Consciously making an effort to offer oneself daily will transform the heart. God can use anything if it is yielded to Him. Example: Balaam's donkey. Holiness and Consecration In the Old Testament, a lamb had to be pure and spotless for sacrifice. Believers should offer themselves to God as a living sacrifice, willing and ready for His use. Offer something holy, clean, and ready for use, not marred by pride or selfishness. Consecrate oneself to God, repent of sin, and offer something He can use. Spiritual Death and Surrender Physical blood is not required as a sacrifice now, but a spiritual death is necessary. Lay down oneself and allow God to be in control. When one relinquishes control, they can present something living, holy, and acceptable to God. Urgency in Preaching Preaching should be urgent and have conviction. The message is not worldly philosophy but transformative truths from the Word of God. Giving oneself to God daily will transform one's living. Mercies of God It is through God's mercies that believers can even be a sacrifice. God can take what individuals have if they repent and become pleasing to Him. Confessing sins leads to forgiveness and cleansing. Even if one feels they have little to offer, God can use them when they are right with Him. "Little is much when God is in it." Overcoming Hesitation Urging listeners to stop hesitating, procrastinating, and holding back from God. God has given something to do, say, or share. The time for holding back is over; start giving oneself to God. Get holy, get right with God, and be acceptable. Allow the Holy Spirit to search and help release what is hindering. Presenting Your Body Presenting one's body to God as a living sacrifice. God already owns believers, having bought them at Calvary. Believers have a free will and a mind, making them unique. Give it up and let God have it. Living Sacrifice vs. Dead Sacrifice A dead sacrifice has no choice,

If you have purity in yourself, you will see purity in all lives. If you have love in yourself, you will see love in all lives. Whatever is in your heart is what you will see in the faces of others. When you look at them, you will see only your own reflection. Whatever fault you see in them really lies within you. When vou look at others, you only see your own reflection, not what is truly there. So correct yourself, and then you will see all lives as one.
