Show Notes: Yvette Todd Yvette Todd's creation Stash Hub is only one year old, but it's already made bold strides in helping sewists organize their fabric, patterns, and plan sewing projects. Only sewing since 2020, Yvette grew up in Portsmouth England. She attended the University of Bath where she met her husband…a union that proved essential to the creation and success of the Stash Hub App. (1:59) Yvette shares stories of her childhood and how these experiences led to where she is today. (4:00) As Yvette began her sewing journey her projects became more frequent and more complex. There was no one in her family that actually sewed so her inspiration came from within! (5:25) Prior to founding Stash Hub…her studies focused on Biochemistry. Her husband Doug was a biochemist as well. (6:17) So, how did she come up with the idea for Stash Hub?She tells us here. (7:58) Her mission is to help sewists fall back in love with their fabric stashes. She explains why managing fabric inventory is a universal challenge. Either the technician leaves, or a doctor walks in to “take a closer look” … a million questions and thoughts and fears run through your mind. At 16 years old and after being told she could never have children, Jade Marie was shocked to learn that she was 16 weeks pregnant. At at an emergency ultrasound less than 24 hours later, she learned that the baby inside of her had one of the most severe heart defects - she was missing the entire left side of heart. In this epsidoe, we will hear Jade Marie describe what the journey with her daughter, Dawn Louise, has been like and what it is like to have a child with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. David Miller, PhD was educated at the University of New Brunswick (Canada) and the University of Portsmouth (England) where he was also a NATO Science Postdoctoral Fellow. He joined Agriculture Canada in 1982 and was head of the Fusarium mycotoxin program at the Plant Research Centre from 1988-1997. In 1997, he joined the Department of Chemistry at Carleton University where he is Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council Research Chair on fungal toxins and allergens. He is widely recognized as one of the most influential and respected fungal researchers in the world. Donald Weekes, CIH, CSP of InAir Environmental is well known to IAQ Radio fans and has been a frequent guest on the show. Mr. Weekes is the Immediate Past President of the Indoor Air Quality Association and has served or is serving on boards and committees with ASHRAE, ISIAQ and AIHA. He also still finds time to manage asbestos, lead, mould, indoor air quality and industrial hygiene projects through InAir Environmental.
