In this special edition podcast, we give you our top predictions for the 2025 Canadian Election. We will breakdown the battleground ridings in New Brunswick, peel back the curtain of the people behind the parties a little, and comment on the reasons behind what is sure to be a historic Conservative defeat.
Well we are a few days late getting this podcast out, HOWEVER, it's worth the wait. We had some drama this week with 3rd party candidates mad about not coming on our show. We will talk about that, as well as break down the debate for each leader to talk about what the result may be. We've got predictions and opinions; let's get into it.
We are in week 3 of the Canadian Federal Election and we are excited to interview Karen Ludwig, Liberal Candidate for Saint John- St. Croix, New Brunswick's newest riding.
This week, we review the 2025 Liberal party budget for New Brunswick. This is the third time we have covered a budget on this podcast, and there is a lot happening around our province right now with big implications. We will discuss some comparisons between the Liberals and Progressive Conservatives, what they have in common, and where things seem to be going for our government's fiscal future.
A month-and-a-half and 11-plus-thousand miles after starting this year's North American Waterfowl Road Trip finally arrives to new territory, to the land-time-forgot (so described for reasons discussed herein) province of New Brunswick, Canada. Joining local go-getter hunters Matt Wilson and Stephen Margison, am immersed neck-deep into Maritime Canada waterfowl hunting culture where distances are described relative to time, where directions are described relative to the St. Johns River, and where daily agendas are relative to Canada geese, black ducks and mallards. It's here that was inspired to conform my chicken-fried recipe to local standard (recipe shared). "Canada duck hunting" may not have evoked thoughts of New Brunswick in the past, but you better believe it will moving forward! Bet that you'll agree, eh? Grand Manan is a Canadian island in the Bay of Fundy, about seven miles east of West Quoddy Head in Lubec, Maine. Swallowtail Lighthouse was built on a peninsula at the northeastern corner of the island in response to a number of shipwrecks. The lighthouse began service in 1860 and is one of the oldest wooden lighthouses still in operation. The light station was automated and destaffed in the 1980s. In 2012, the property was turned over to the Village of Grand Manan. A community group called the Swallowtail Keepers Society has a long-term lease to care for the light station. The interior of the lighthouse has been converted into a museum. Swallowtail Lighthouse, New Brunswick, Canada. Photo by Jeremy D'Entremont. Tracy Bell is a corporate exec turned start-up CEO. In 2016, a health scare in the family prompted Tracy and her husband to reimagine the way tea is processed in an effort to extract more antioxidants. That concept led to the creation of a new category of tea - called Fresh-Leaf TEA - and a product that is being called "the future of tea" by industry leaders. In 2017 their innovation was named Best New Product (Innovation category) at World Tea Expo. And in 2019 Millennia TEA was one of eight companies globally selected for participation in the #1 food innovation accelerator in the world, Food-X, in New York City. Before Millennia TEA, Tracy worked as PR strategist and television reporter, receiving national and international accolades for her work. Originally from Southern Ontario, Tracy has lived in Atlantic Canada for 15+ years and considers herself a full-fledged Maritimer. Tracy and her husband Rory live in New Brunswick with their two (awesome!) kids. Entrepreneurs are the backbone of Canada's economy. Tallmadge Doyle is a painter, printmaker, teacher, and public artist who's work reflects on issues of the environment related to climate change. Born in New York City now based in Eugene, Oregon. Nakula Das' semen retention lifestyle made international news during his run for office in the 2021 Canadian Federal Election. For most North Americans, this ancient practice was unheard of and elicited a wide range of reactions. While there was no correlation between his political campaign and his semen retention practice, it brought international awareness to the population's lack of sexual knowledge and current battle with porn addiction. Nakula has declared #WarOnPorn and is making sex education and semen retention mainstream. With the rise of internet pornography and the over sexualization of modern culture, Nakula is challenging the mainstream narrative and culture on its views and understanding of sex and sexuality. He is the creator of the ‘Semen Retention Army', a full training and accountability program dedicated to helping men quit porn, regulate their ejaculations, become better lovers for their partners and become more focused and disciplined. His program teaches men how to use breath-work, muscle control and meditation to develop a new relationship with their sexual energy and redirect those urges into healthy pursuits. There are some leaders who just seem to draw us out of our comfort zone and into a fresh new reality. Victor Somers is one of those guys. In 2011 Victor returned to New Brunswick Canada with a passion to make a difference in a community that had been devastated by military and industry closures. He had a dream of people's lives being transformed by the gospel, but did anyone want to hear? Victor Somers is an entrepreneur. He starts things. He is always dreaming of what comes next. So he did the unimaginable. He purchased buildings. Run down buildings. Buildings that were emblematic of a better day in the past. Buildings that connected with the community's story. People came. They listened because Victor was leading a change in their town. And the many who have listened have responded - and are now part of a change story that is subtly sweeping over the east side of Miramichi. This episode is Victor's story. By his own admission, some of what he does makes him uncomfortable, but that's what happens when you blaze a trail through a new frontier. You might disagree with some of what Victor does. My personal journey with Vic tells me that he is fine with your (or my) disagreement with him. I can promise you but one thing. If you will listen to his story, you will hear something that can change your life.
