Rideshare Rodeo Podcast (episode 432) January 28th, 2025 On June 24th, 2024 Colorado SB24-0075 was passed into law. The law takes effect on Saturday February 1st, 2025. Now Uber is suing the state of Colorado, claiming its 1st amendment rights have been violated in the new Colorado gig app driver law. Stephanie Vigil authored the bill in the house of representatives, and Kevin Priola sponsored the bill in the state senate. Just how important is complete 'driver' transparency? This week on the podcast I have an amazing lineup of guests join me to discuss why 'TRANSPARENCY' a must in the gig app space.
[R3] Rideshare Rodeo Roundtable (episode 365) Lets go through the Colorado new gig worker laws with Representative Stephanie Vigil, and their effects on Doordash & Uber drivers.
This week I have Stephanie Vigil (Colorado House of Reps) and David Pickerell (CEO Para). We discuss the current legislation in Colorado and what has transpired over the past few months. We are putting out a call to action and hope many traditional and app based gig workers/Independent Contractors will help by doing one simple task. U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert had a big night out at the theater in Denver this past weekend, complete with vaping, loud singing, and being escorted out. But is this just a case of Big Divorced Energy from the MAGA darling? Or a sign of something bigger? The story (and the surveillance tapes) exploded this week, just as Boebert was attempting to roll out a new image, so we're breaking it all down. Newly elected state representative Tim Hernández joins our state politics and green chile correspondent, Justine Sandoval, to discuss the congresswoman's night out in Denver with producer Paul Karolyi. Plus, all the other local stories that mattered this week and this week's Rocky Mountain Highs and Lows. Do you want to be a founding member of City Cast Denver? Today Erin and Melissa chat with Stephanie Vigil! After 25 years of anchoring local TV news, Stephanie Vigil grew tired of reporting negative stories. The weight of the bad news was wearing her down. That's when she decided to take a sabbatical to see for herself that there's more good, then bad, in this world. With 3 months to explore, she found herself inside the Balboa Activity Center in San Diego where her new found love of pickleball changed her perspective on life. Pickleballers, of all ages, were so friendly and welcoming, eager to teach her, and others, how to play this fast paced game. After every session she'd walked away with a sense of belonging, and that she wasn't the only one. She discovered that it's not money, nor material possessions that lead to a Very Good Life, it's the connection with others that matter the most.
We begin with a recap of yesterday's EF1 tornado in Highlands Ranch. Steffan and his son visited the area last night - see pix on our FB page. Then - the latest on the Titan submersible recovery operation. We go over emails from 2018 concerned with safety. Owner Stockton Rush (dead) blew them off and was angry and criticism. State Rep. Stephanie Vigil ponders the wealthy via Twitter and makes a total fool of herself. Our "Week In Review" audio feature. We wrap the hour with (gasp!) a critique of the endless coverage of the Casa Bonita soon-to-be opening.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week I have Ron Walter on to discuss a new gig worker bill in Colorado, almost sounds too good to be true. If passed would there be more like it that moved towards a union model for workers. Bill sponsors Sen. Robert Rodriguez of Denver, Rep. Stephanie Vigil of Colorado Springs — who is the first gig-app worker to join the Legislature — and Rep. Jennifer Bacon of Denver. (Senate Bill 23-098). Gig workers, what do you think of this legislation? Join Ron (EntreCourier) and I to discuss what is going on in Colorado that could dramatically change gig workers rights & the way they earn. ** .:: BECOME A PATREON MEMBER AND HELP SUPPORT OUR CREATIVE CONTENT ::. https://www.patreon.com/RideshareRodeo

While Colorado Springs is still dealing with the aftermath of the Club Q shooting, there's something else that's clung to the city in a negative way: its reputation as a conservative, fundamentalist Christian stronghold that espouses strong anti-LGBTQ beliefs. That stereotype has never defined it for the people who actually live there, though — and now that the world is looking at Colorado's second largest city, many in the community want to challenge what those outside the Springs think they know about this special place. Today on the show, Representative-elect Stephanie Vigil — who will be representing the district where Club Q is located — joins host Bree Davies to talk about the vibrant, creative, and diverse community that they say defines the city they know. We talked about the Ted Haggard and the New Life Church, which was rocked by scandal in the early 2000s. Stephanie Vigil is a gig worker in Colorado, and she is running to represent in the Colorado House. This would make Stephanie the first gig worker in Colorado to grab a House or Senate seat, maybe in the country? Stephanie has a bit of a unique perspective on how gig workers should be treated, she is pro what I refer to as a hybrid gig work model. Join us Monday, September 26th, at 4pm est/1pm pst in live chat and ask all your questions. This is a great opportunity to hear what is going on that will effect every gig worker differently in many states, starting in 2023.
