On this week's episode of the Friends in Beauty podcast I welcome Avista Ortiz Bari to the Friends in Beauty guest chair. Avista is the Founder of the Glist App. Glist is empowering vetted beauty professionals (hair, makeup, nail, and spray tanning artists) with a tool to list their services easily and for clients to quickly search, find, and book any beauty experience where a vetted freelance artist comes to a client's location of choice. As a freelance Makeup Artist herself, Avista found the need to create this tool to manage all individual client contracts and remove the administrative hassle that took the joy out of being a beauty professional. As a client and mother of two young kids, she realized that finding an artist of her choice and efficiently booking any beauty service was currently impossible.  During this conversation, Avista shares the trials and tribulations that have gone into launching and running the app as well as future plans & upcoming educational collaborations. Can carbon footprint be included in future base oil specs?

F+L Webcast

Mario Majic, head of Strategic Business Development, Marketing & Corporate Governance at Avista Oil AG, says that with today's re-refining technology, base oils produced from spent lubricants can compete head on with “virgin” base oils. Speaking with F&L Asia  in Episode 31 of the F+L Webcast, Majic said re-refined base oils from Avista can achieve up to 90% CO2 emissions savings from cradle to gate compared to primary refined base oils. Historically, buyers expect a discount when they purchase re-refined base oils. However, that's starting to change, says Majic. “A couple of years ago, we were not able to achieve premium prices for our products, but the market is changing. If demand for something is rising and supply is limited, we know what is going to happen,” he says. Avista is a German re-refiner with about 300,000 tons per year of combined base oil production footprint in Germany, Denmark and the United States. The company produces Group II in the United States and is upgrading its facility in Germany to produce Group III. Majic says that “Oil can be green, oil can be clean and oil can be sustainable.” His wish list is to see carbon footprint included in future base oil specifications. In Europe, as well as the rest of the world, the industry uses the base oil classification contained in Annex E of API 1509. API 1509 describes the voluntary Engine Oil Licensing and Certification System (EOLCS) of the American Petroleum Institute (API). All base stocks are divided into five categories. Groups I to III are classified according to their saturates, sulfur and viscosity index (VI). Group IV base stocks are polyalphaolefins (PAOs) and Group V are all other base stocks that are not Groups I-IV.

Only Howie Cares For Me as a Person Carole writes Howie:     You just never cease to amaze me.  Even though I didn't sleep well, I didn't think well either.  I told Bob Solomon that I was coming to see you last night, and afterwards I called to tell him that I was undecided on what to do.  He couldn't believe that I could be on the fence about this and said he wanted to withdraw from our relationship.  This seems like a very strong reaction for a relationship that is only a week old, and feels for all the world as if I am being "played".  (Just tell someone they can't have something and they will knock themselves out to get it, whether they wanted it or not, sort of thing).   He went on and on about how I have deceived and hurt him and perhaps I am being arrogant, or am in self denial, but I don't think either is true.  Much of his appeal is in his passion and that could be all this is.  Regardless of what his next move is, I still feel confused and without direction.  This whole exercise has led me to know some of the things I don't want and has given me deeper insight into some of the qualities that are important to me in myself and others.  It has been humbling and I needed that.  Gotta be careful what you pray for.   This is just such a foreign state for me, I don't know how to deal with it.  I wish to let the dust settle around me, so that I can see clearly.  I cannot thank you enough for the way you have been.  You are so self-less and kind.  Your ability to step outside your own needs for me is truly remarkable.   Later that day to Howie:     Dear Howie,  Don't worry about my tears, or agonizing, for that matter.  I cry easily, because I am easily touched.  When I don't cry in a situation that would usually warrant it (in my book) then I step back and wonder why.  I cried with you Tuesday night.  I broke up with everyone else I was seeing Wednesday, without a single tear.  Thursday I woke up crying over you and cried for 2 and 1/2 hours while writing to you.  I cried in your arms last night.  When Bob told me I had hurt him and mislead him, I was sad that he felt that way, but I didn't cry.  I thought maybe I was just cried out.  That happens.   This morning I needed to get some of my stuff out of his car.  (No, not earrings, paperwork)  He was much more calm and reasoned that God sent him to me with a message, the message was delivered, and that I shouldn't worry about having hurt him because it has only been a week and a good one at that.  He said that he had just gotten carried away with his emotions when he thought he had found what he has been looking for, but that he didn't need me enough to share me.  While I still feel a little of that reverse psychology in the air, it still should have touched me enough to make me cry, but didn't.  Incidentally, I did not feel that you were doing that when you asked me to go the other night.  Your rejection felt sincere.  That doesn't sound like a compliment, as I read it, but it is.   Later, I read your email and cried again, but now when I go deep inside I don't feel pain.  I feel a stillness, a peacefulness.  I believe that every thing happens for a reason and that everything is unfolding as it should.  Bob said he didn't know what that message was that he was involved in delivering, but I do.  My "plan" for protecting my heart didn't work.  The temporary sensation of not feeling was not fulfilling.  I cannot distract myself enough to stop feeling.  I can be swept off my feet, but not have any real depth of emotion, which causes me to wonder what the swept-off-my-feet thing is all about.  It's that thing that causes me to jump into their lives, rescue them and bring them home.  What IS that all about?   I will be on the road alone most of the day and perhaps the significance of these revelations will become clear.   I never think that what-might-have-been would have been better than what is.  I sometimes wonder how it might have been different, but don't recall ever thinking it would have been better.  The perfect case in point was that first turning point in my life.  I was in love with a boy at Florida College who was studying to be a preacher.  I was only 14 and a virgin and he was willing to wait until I was old enough to marry to take me back to Bowling Green, KY to be a farmer/preacher's wife.  When I was raped, I felt unworthy of him and broke up with him, without ever explaining why.  I was too ashamed.  Sometimes I wonder, if I hadn't been raped, and IF you could predict a life long involvement with a person, what would my life be like.  I'd probably be some fat old lady now, sitting in a rocking chair, knitting doilies and thinking that I had never LIVED.  That's about as romantic as I get over what might have been.   I am still uncertain of what to do next, but feel relieved in the belief that whatever it is, it was meant to be.  I think you should contact the newspapers with the idea of a Dear Howie column.  Women adore men like you.  We need someone who is sensitive to the way we are and yet who has a man's perspective to draw from.  It is far more valuable advice than any woman can get from another of her own gender.  I will certainly give you a glowing recommendation.   Later that day to Howie:    Dear Howie,   Today was a good day.  I managed to deliver summons to Pasco, Pinellas and Hillsborough counties today.  That may be a record for me.  I sang in the car.  Old tunes in an ancient language about buffalo, elk and rain, but songs all the same.  I came home to Fall.  The sky was grey and darkening and the remaining leaves on the hickory trees were blazing in yellows and oranges.  The lawn is blanketed in colours from red to russet brown.  I am fortunate to have the changing of the seasons here without the hills and snow.  (My daughter just called from N.C. and is suffering from cabin fever from all the snow.  She is making a sled from her dog's carriers to get the luggage to the car at the foot of the mountain)   I am even more blessed to have good friends like you.  I pondered your insight and your advice today.  It seems you never know a person until there is a difficulty.  Anyone can be pleasant when things are going smoothly, but when their world is rocked, even slightly, you start to see what is in their heart.  I like what I see in yours.   I thought about your advice of making a secret promise to myself and wondered why I have trouble doing that.  I make promises to others, but rarely to myself.  This year was the first year I ever made a New Year's Resolution i.e. Promise to myself.  I don't know if I don't feel worthy of the promise, or if I feel incapable of keeping one that is only made to me, but that needs to change.  I can't change what I don't see, so I appreciate you pointing that out to me.   Next comes, What to promise?  I don't want to hurt anyone and I don't want to disappoint anyone, so how do I do that?  It seems logical that if I don't promise anything to anyone, then I can't disappoint them by breaking a promise.  The more I think about it, the more sound I find your concept of "good minutes".  If I can stay in-the-moment and not get ahead of it, perhaps I and the person I am with can find enough happiness in that to not worry about the future.   It seems that sex is the difference between friendship and fiasco.  I haven't had many people that I considered friends, but of the ones I have had, there doesn't seem to be the jealousy of other friends, nor the expectation of exclusivity to prove friendship.  I wonder why sex changes things?   My immediate reaction to all of this is to want to crawl back in my cave, pull the rocks in around the entrance and hide here while I lick my wounds and try to figure out how to interact with the world in a less harmful manner.  Rather than hurt anyone, that may be the kindest thing to do, but I am not built for idling long.  When you offered to continue seeing me sexually while I worked this out, I felt it was because of your attitude toward just making the most of time we do have, and not because you needed me.  I perceive that as strength and wonder if you would feel safe with me?   I wonder if you would BE safe with me?  Or am I stupid enough to hurt you twice?  All day long I have resisted the urge to call and ask you for 5 minutes of your time.  I wanted a kiss, a hug and the reassurance that you didn't hate me for being such a fool, but I resisted because that is selfish and pointless.  You would be kind, no matter what you really thought.  The real issue here is not about my happiness.  I can find happiness in the simplest of things, like making the rounds in three counties in a day or watching the sunset as I drive home, or seeing my volunteers working well together.   I wonder what drives us to be part of a pair?   How can I be a part of your life without hurting you?  What do you need or want, that I am capable of giving without causing harm?  What can I do to repair the damage I have done to your trust?   I am going to go colour my hair.  My hairdresser is sick and my hair looks awful.  To leave you smiling, I will leave you with a pretty funny image, if not a funny story.  Mary, my "wife" used to colour my hair.  I don't have clothes that you can just toss after the messy dyes, so her teenage daughter gave me a t-shirt, about 6 sizes too small that barely covered my tits.  It said Femme Fatale on the front. Mary had way too much fun with the sticky, smelly hair colourant and had created a sculpture of my hair to rival the headdress on the statue of liberty.  It has to set 20 minutes, but my mother called in a panic saying that she wanted me to go to her house in Avista (a walled and security patrolled neighborhood) and check to be sure she had turned off the stove.   Mary and I get there and realize the only way in is if someone buzzes you through the gate, or through the garage, to which I had no opener.  She backed the car up to the wall and I scaled it.  When I came back over the wall, Mary was very flustered and trying to explain to the security guard why her car was backed up to the fence.  In my typical, I-can-handle-any-man attitude, I start trying to charm our way out of it because it was before the days of cell phones and there was no way to contact my parents.  The guy is looking at me in this Femme Fatale rag top shirt, stinky hair all sculpted out in points and mounds and is looking more horrified than enamored.  I'm wondering if I have lost my touch.   Mary takes in the scene and starts laughing so hard, I thought she would pass out.  It wasn't until then that I remembered how I looked.  Every time I colour my hair I think of that night.   I've been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views.  If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story.  The titles are the dates things happened. If you have any interest in who I really am please start at the beginning of this playlist: http://savethecats.org/   I know there will be people who take things out of context and try to use them to validate their own misconception, but you have access to the whole story.  My hope is that others will recognize themselves in my words and have the strength to do what is right for themselves and our shared planet.     You can help feed the cats at no cost to you using Amazon Smile! Sustainable Building at Heart of Collaborative Project. The South Landing project in Spokane, Washington, has been called “the five smartest city blocks in the world.” The development is said to feature “the most sustainable large building in North America.” Known as the Catalyst Building, it is intended to anchor a planned “innovation hub.” The five-story, 150,000-square-foot building features two wings around a light-filled collaborative atrium. Catalyst will host dry labs, offices, classrooms, and common study areas. The Catalyst design team reportedly emphasized sustainability as a core value. The building features cross-laminated timber (CLT)—a mass timber building material made of laminated wood panels—for major structural elements. The design reduces the buildings environmental footprint by reducing energy use and prolonging the expected lifespan of the building. The Catalyst Building connects to Spokane's growing University District by way of the Gateway Bridge, designed to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists. The South Landing project is a joint development of Avista Development and South Landing Investors LLC. Other stakeholders include Katerra (maker of the CLT), Eastern Washington University, McKinstry, and Michael Green Architecture. The sustainable features include an energy-efficient radiant heating and cooling system throughout the building, heat recovery of all exhaust air, high-performing building envelope design, LED lighting, sun shading in the lobby, and a smart building management system to maximize building operations efficiency. Heather Rosentrater, senior vice president of Energy Delivery and Shared Services with Avista Utilities, and Ash Awad, Chief Market Officer from McKinstry, were guests on The POWER Podcast. They explained why the project is important for the community and the many ways all the stakeholders collaborated to make it a success. “As a utility, we recognize that a healthy community creates a healthy utility,” Rosentrater said. “And so, that's at the core of being involved in this kind of a development is recognizing the value that it can bring to the community in terms of attracting businesses and just providing economic development in this area. So, that's a big piece of why we're involved.” “Typically, when a development is happening, the developer and the general contractor and the architect are really working from a top down perspective,” Awad said. However, the South Landing stakeholders worked together in atypical ways. He said Avista and McKinstry collaborated “to think differently about how energy moves.” The two also worked closely with Katerra to bring CLT strategies into the building. “But then, we actually worked with the community, and we thought a lot about ‘What does this southern part of the University District need?' and working quite closely with the higher ed community and the greater Spokane area to think about some of those elements,” Awad said.

Forces the continuance of the process of moving all the nuclear waste in the United States to Yucca Mountain in Nevada. Grants the entire US government immunity for damages caused in the course of “any mining, mineral leasing, or geothermal leasing activity” conducted on the land reserved for nuclear waste disposal. Speeds up the approval process by 6 months for interim storage and basically forbids disapproval Would Increase by 57% the amount of spent fuel allowed to be held during construction - no environmental review to make sure the tanks can hold this much The Secretary of Energy does NOT need to consider alternative actions or no-action alternatives to infrastructure projects needed for Yucca mountain as far as environmental analysis are concerned. Passed the House of Representatives 340-72 Has not been voted on in the Senate                       H.R. 7: No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2017, introduced January 13, 2017, passed House January 24, 2017. Makes permanent a common funding law amendment that prevents federal money from being used to perform abortions. This bill would also prevent any government payment assistance on the health insurance exchanges for plans that cover abortion - which effectively would stop health insurance companies from offering abortion coverage in their plans since that would make them ineligible for many of us to purchase. Mike Burgess (TX) "The bill we will be voting out soon is about patients. It is about having more time with their loved ones. In the words of Vice President MIKE PENCE, ‘‘It’s about restoring hope and giving patients with life-threatening diseases a fighting chance.’’ With hundreds of thousands of Americans with a terminal illness and their families looking for us to act, I urge Members of this House, the people’s House, to support restoring hope and giving them a fighting chance at life." Hearing: House Hearing; Yucca Mountain, May 10, 2018. 32:00 Representative Greg Walden (OR): You know, the Department of Energy’s Hanford site is just up the mighty Columbia River from where I live and where I grew up. That area and those workers helped us win World War II, and the site’s nuclear program was instrumental in projecting peace through strength throughout the Cold War. While the community has been a constructive partner in support of our vital national security missions, it did not agree to serve as a perpetual storage site for the resulting nuclear waste. Fifty-six million gallons of toxic waste sitting in decades-old metal tanks at Hanford—these are those tanks that were being constructed to hold this waste. They are now buried in the ground. The only entry point is right here. The amount of waste stored at Hanford would fill this entire House Chamber 20 times over. According to a recent Government Accountability Office report, the oldest of these tanks, some of which date back to the 1940s, have single-layer walls, or shells. They were built to last 20 years. They will be almost 100 years old by the estimated end of their waste treatment. The Department of Energy has reported that 67 of these tanks are assumed or known to have leaked waste into the soil. There is an understandable sense of urgency in the Northwest behind the cleanup efforts that are under way at Hanford. H.R. 3053 will provide the pathway to clean up the contaminated Hanford site. You see, the waste from Hanford will end up in a secure permanent storage site that we believe will be Yucca Mountain. 35:15 Representative Greg Walden (OR): The legislation authorizes the Department of Energy to contract with private companies to store nuclear waste while DOE finishes the rigorous scientific analysis of the repository design and the associated Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensing process. So, an interim storage facility can bring added flexibility to DOE’s disposal program and may provide a more expeditious near-term pathway to consolidate spent nuclear fuel. 41.31 Representative Fred Upton (MI): In my district, we have two nuclear plants. Both of them have run out of room in their storage, so they have dry casks that are literally a John Shimkus baseball throw away from Lake Michigan. Every one of these 100-some sites across the country is in an environmentally sensitive area, and at some point they’re going to run out of room. In Michigan, we’ve got two other sites that also have dry casks in addition to the two in my district. 45:05 Representative Buddy Carter (GA): This legislation is important not only because of what it means to the future of clean-energy opportunities for this country, but also what this means for our communities. Nuclear energy has become a safe and effective way to generate energy, all while not producing greenhouse gas emissions. 53:29 Representative Leonard Lance (NJ): New Jersey is home to four nuclear reactors at three generating stations: Oyster Creek, Hope Creek, and Salem. Oyster Creek will be closing this October. In the congressional district I serve, these plants account for about half of the power generation and 90 percent of the carbon-free electricity. New Jersey’s nuclear plants avoid 14 million tons of carbon emissions each year. Public Service, FirstEnergy, and Exelon are doing their part in storing their station’s spent nuclear fuel on-site, but we need a permanent site. The expertise and know-how of the federal government has a responsibility to my constituents and to the American people. I want the 3,000 metric tons of nuclear waste out of New Jersey and consolidated in a national protected facility. 58:54 Representative Dina Titus (NV): The first ‘‘Screw Nevada’’ bill was passed in 1982, and since that time, Nevada’s residents, elected officials, business leaders, health and environmental groups have steadfastly opposed the Yucca Mountain repository. I ask unanimous consent to enter into the record over 100 letters from those groups in opposition. 59:19 Representative Dina Titus (NV): You’ve heard that the legislation before you now, ‘‘Screw Nevada 2.0,’’ is a work of compromise, a bipartisan effort, not perfect, but a step forward. Well, that, frankly, is an opinion. It’s not the facts. Here are the facts: the legislation overrides environmental laws, allowing the EPA to move the goalposts in terms of radiation limits to ensure that nothing will ever interfere with the agenda of the nuclear industry. It sets up a consent-based process for the establishment of an interim storage facility but imposes a permanent facility at Yucca Mountain. It increases the amount of nuclear waste to be dumped in Nevada by 37 percent, 110 metric tons more that were not considered in any of the environmental or safety studies being used to justify the project. It also removes the prohibition currently in law that prohibits Nevada from being the de facto interim storage facility until a permanent one can be licensed. It was also changed after passing out of committee to address the high scoring costs—is it already three minutes? Chairman: Gentlewoman’s time has expired. Representative Paul Tonko: Mr. Speaker, we grant the gentlelady another minute. Chairman: Gentlelady’s recognized. Rep. Titus: Thank you. —to address the high scoring costs, making it less likely that we get host benefits. Also, contrary to the sponsor’s comments, the area around Yucca Mountain is not some desolate area. It has iconic wildlife, endangered species, and Native American artifacts. Also, the proposed facility sits above the water table and on an active fault and can only be reached by roads that travel through 329 of your congressional districts. 1:03:53 Representative Ruben Kihuen (NV): You know, Mr. Speaker, I find it offensive. I sit here and listen to all my colleagues, and they all want to send nuclear waste to the state of Nevada. They’re all generating this nuclear waste, and they want to send it to my backyard right in the Fourth Congressional District. You know, bottom line is this, Mr. Speaker: if you generate nuclear waste, you should keep it in your own backyard. Don’t be sending it to our backyard. 1:11:27 Representative Joe Courtney (CT): Next to me is a picture of Haddam Neck, Connecticut, which is a pristine part of the state where the Connecticut River and the Salmon River come together. Where the circle is on the photograph, there are 43 casks of spent nuclear power uranium rods that, again, today, pretty much cordon off that whole area. If you drove up in a car, you’d be met by a platoon of heavily armed security guards who, for good reason, have to patrol that area every single day because of the dangerous material that is stored there. That has been the case for over 20 years. It costs Connecticut ratepayers $10 million a year, again, for a site that should be long overdue for renovation and access to folks from all over the world because of its rich archeological and historical area. This bill provides a way out for this area, along with 120 other sites across the country, that host communities have been saddled with storage of spent nuclear fuel because of the fact that this country has been unable to come together with a coherent policy. And this bill provides a way out. 1:15:23 Representative Dana Rohrabacher (CA): This bill authorizes the construction of Yucca Mountain as a nuclear waste storage site, which would alleviate the burden of incredible risk that is now borne by communities throughout the country, such as in my district, where homes are not far located from the closed San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. That, and many other plants throughout the nation, have closed their doors in decades. Yet, Congress has yet to agree of how to safely store that waste, while—and what’s really important is we must store the waste—but while we develop new nuclear energy technologies, that we are capable of doing, that are safe and produce less of their own waste and can consume the waste of older plants—I reminded Secretary of Energy Perry of that yesterday—but, in the meantime, until that technology—by the way, it is sinful that we have not developed that technology, which we are capable of, that could eat this waste—but until we do, having safe storage at Yucca Mountain makes all the sense to me and is safe for my constituents. 1:17:07 Representative Rick Allen (GA): Mr. Speaker, I have the great honor of representing Georgia’s 12th Congressional District, which is home to every nuclear reactor in our state, and we are leading the way in the new nuclear. At Plant Vogtle, in my district, there are thousands of spent fuel rods being held in spent fuel pools and dry cask storage containers, and in the next few years we’re going to double the number of nuclear reactors online at Vogtle. Hearing: House Hearing; Forests Act, November 1, 2017. 3:02:49 Representative Bruce Poliquin (MA): Now, H.R. 2936 brings federal regulations in line with this new technology and new standards of safety by allowing family-owned logging business the ability to train 16- and 17-year-olds under very close supervision of their parents. 3:23:31 Representative Greg Walden (OR): In Oregon, this bill would take away arbitrary prohibition on harvesting trees over 21 inches in diameter. It’s tied the hands of our forest managers. 3:28:00 Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA): I represent the Colville National Forest, which is about a million-acre forest. It’s really the engine of our economy in the Northwest, because what happens on the Colville National Forest determines whether or not we have Vaagen’s lumber or 49 Degrees North ski resort or the biomass facility that Avista runs, converting wood waste into electricity. This is all providing jobs, energy, recreational opportunities. Yet mills have been closed, jobs have been lost. It’s unacceptable. It’s time to pass the Resilient Federal Forests legislation. 5:32:57 Representative Jeff Denham (CA): The Resilient Federal Forests Act gives us the tools to immediately reduce the threat of catastrophic wildfires. It allows us to expedite the removal of dead trees and rapidly mitigate disease-infested areas. 5:41:58 Representative Louie Gohmert (TX): If you want to just leave it to nature, nature will destroy massive numbers of acres of land. So we have a responsibility. Even in the Garden of Eden when things were perfect, God said, tend the garden. 6:06:29 Representative Raul Grijalva (AZ): This is not the first time we have seen the bill, this piece of legislation. House Republicans sent a version to the Senate in the 113th and the 114th Congress, where it languished on the shelf because our colleagues on the other side of the Capitol found it too extreme. Rather than view that experience as an opportunity to seek compromise, this time around, today, we are considering a bill that is even more extreme and polarizing. They doubled the environmental review waivers, added language to undermine the Endangered Species Act, and scaled back protections for national monuments and roadless areas. 6:07:39 Representative Raul Grijalva (AZ): But this bill is not about forest health or wildfire mitigation; it’s about increasing the number of trees removed from our forests. 6:18:24 Representative Tom McClintock (CA): You know, there’s an old adage that excess timber comes out of the forest one way or the other—it’s either carried out or it burns out. When we carried it out, we had resilient, healthy forests and a thriving economy, as excess timber was sold and harvested before it could choke our forests to death. In the years since then, we’ve seen an 80 percent decline in timber sales from our federal lands and a concomitant increase in acreage destroyed by forest fire. I would remind my friend from Oregon that timber sales used to generate us money, not cost us money. The direct revenues and spin-off commerce generated by these sales provided a stream of revenues that we could then use to improve our national forests and share with the local communities affected. 6:22:38 Representative Jared Huffman (CA): Title I of this bill allows intensive logging projects of 10,000 to 30,000 acres each. That’s as big as the entire city of San Francisco. Projects of that size can proceed on federal public lands without any environmental review under NEPA, without any compliance with the Endangered Species Act. Title II of the bill eliminates the requirement that the Forest Service consult with the Fish and Wildlife Service; essentially, lets the Forest Service decide for itself if it wants to follow the Endangered Species Act consultation requirements regarding any of its projects on public lands. Title III further chokes judicial review by prohibiting the recovery of attorneys' fees for any challenges to forest management activity under the Equal Access to Justice Act, including meritorious successful challenges. This severely limits public review of logging projects on federal public lands. Hearing: Examining patient access to investigational drugs, Energy & Commerce, October 3, 2017. House Session: Legislative Day of January 4, 2017, Houselive.gov 4:15:30 - Rep. Darrell Issa (CA) "For the freshmen of either party, when you go to make a vote on this, re-member, we are not changing the un-derlying law. Only one regulation under the underlying law has ever been repealed, and it was bipartisan in both the House and the Senate when it was repealed. It has been 16 years, and the few that will likely be considered under this act and the underlying law will be just that, a relatively few regulations that are believed to be unnecessary and for which the House, the Senate, and the President concur.   Video: Josh Lyman Sick of Congress, YouTube, July 23, 2012.
