sent $$$ this week to Mixed Reality Festival & Holosuites with Ratskin Records.gofundme.com/f/mixedrealityfestival“Ratskin Records Holosuites is an immersive VR venue for de-colonial artists that is a refuge from the daily oppression of our lives. This project, by Oakland-based label Ratskin Records, will feature current and upcoming artists that push the boundaries of music, experimentation, healing, and self-expression in 2021 and beyond. Through years of arts-based organizing, we have found that our communities are in crisis around physical, emotional, and financial access to physical art spaces and COVID-19 has only exacerbated this crisis. As queer and trans disabled artists of color, we are often overlooked as leaders that have, in many ways, defined the cultural output of the Bay Area. We archive underrepresented experiences and create social relevance through our own narratives. We share a value of collective liberation that gives us the integrity, passion, and inside knowledge needed to develop a platform that responds to the needs of our communities. Our goal is to pay and provide material resources for artists whose work lies on the margins of mainstream consumption. Our creative communities are made up of many marginalized identities who are attempting to navigate a myriad of obstacles centered around access. Some of those obstacles include: spread of COVID-19 for immunocompromised folks, inaccessible venue entrances for wheelchair users, gender-based harassment for Trans and non-binary folks, race-based violence specifically targeted towards Black and Indigenous people, and other forms of identity-based oppression that not only affect participants lives but their ability to enjoy music events. Ratskin is curation centered in this practice and provides resources for artists to create self-determined spaces. Our work is multifaceted as we utilize multiple avenues to address issues and focalize accountability around racism, transphobia, classism, ableism and other systems that affect access. Ratskin Records Holosuites addresses the problem of inaccessible venues by offering an interactive, digital alternative to gathering in physical spaces. The need for access solutions is even more pressing as we collectively navigate a global pandemic. We aim to increase accessibility to art and music through creating a digital realm that helps our community stay connected despite the confines of shelter-in-place. By allowing participants to engage on their own terms, Ratskin Records Holosuites lowers the barriers to arts participation by creating a curated, immersive space where both the audience and the artist are able to control their participation from their chosen locations.”DOWNLOAD RECORDINGsubscribe to the podcast here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/5432fun(intro by omar)Child’s Pose “Caroline” S/TThe Saxophones “Alone Again” Songs of The SaxophonesThe Spires “To Complicate Matters” To Complicate MattersWives “Eclipse” DoomsdayKississippi “Cut Yr Teeth” Sunset BlushSILVER DAPPLE “Intuables” Moody BootsClimax Landers “Freedom Property Contradiction Man” Early AutumnMia Friedman “Like the Moon” Little DevilsQualcomm Stadium “Q&R” Tank EPLaura Veirs “Everybody Needs You” The LookoutLunar Vacation “Blue Honey” SwellDear Nora “White Fur” Skulls ExamplePre Nup “The Grudge” Oh WellLike a Villain “Coal” Mussel EPFollies “Pride” Still LifeTrash Knife “Locked Out” Split w/ Dumb VisionWimps “Giant Brain” Garbage PeopleThe Misty Mountain Pony Club “Hello Trouble” just me & the moonDominic Angelella “Emotional Businessman” Goodnight, Doggies.Jenny Hval “The Dreamer Is Everyone in Her Dream” The Long Sleep EP

He sounds rugged, but behind the mic he's just another guy drinking Sunset Blush on a weeknight. Join Erin and Mel in episode 11 where they interview their fellow NDSU alum, Cody Midthun! They discuss his career as an inspector for the state of Minnesota, their college memories, and everything else on his table.
Alli Logout is a Texas-raised, NOLA-based punk musician (Special Interest, Lassie) and radical filmmaker (Lucid Noon, Sunset Blush). Alli works to increase the representation of their community in media, in addition to making the tools to create that media more accessible. Simply, Alli is creating their own world with the people they love. But we all know it isn't that simple. In episode one, we interviewed the promoter of the punk festival This Is Austin Not That Great. We conducted this interview for episode two during that fest, on the roof of a parking garage in downtown Austin, right after Alli's band Lassie played. We spoke about creating community/family and the happiness (and lack thereof) that can come with that, DIY filmmaking, privilege at a punk festival, marketing and tokenizing of black and queer bodies, presenting your message on your own terms, and the pressures of being visible and loud with your art. **CW brief discussion of suicide in the episode** --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/protest-and-survive/support

In today's episode Nicky P & Lizzie examine Liberty & Justice by Agnostic Front. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ocw_s5tDNww&list=OLAK5uy_kpS6d8QgKOXsOQjbuiEarRsnzN1syLMAg This week in I Heard This Happened: djent from gay Paris & some girly Philly indie. Nicky’s album this week is Super 90 by Kadinja, This band from Paris, France has touches of VOLA, Twelve Foot Ninja, Plini, and Polyphia. They keep just enough of the metalcore roots to feel legitimately hard while washing it over in modern guitar prog. I’m not usually into the metal vocal this much but it’s surrounded by so much dissonant musicality and sing-along hooks it’s hard to look past it. Surprisingly textured for the genre, it’s still crazy techie but has nice little peepholes into genres from my youth. https://kadinja.bandcamp.com/album/super-90 Lizzie’s pick is Sunset Blush by Kississippi. This artist from Philadelphia, PA. It reminded Lizzie of Florence and the Machine with a little Death Cab and Best Coast. It’s so smooth and summery and I Love the percussion on some of these songs. https://kississippi.bandcamp.com/album/sunset-blush This week’s interview is with Howie Snowden from the boys over at Lions of Liberty. Well, here we are. You, me and an absolutely crushed box of Sunset Blush™. Bring a friend and bring more gumbo, cause it's gonebo.
Tom is recording at his location for the last time. Heron asks Tom about 3d without glasses. How about those computers? This break is brought to you by Sunset Blush. Lex Watson comes up again. What's happening with the Stone Ape Facebook group? Tom finds his ancestors are his social network. Tom explores the threat of physical violence. Eric! Tom introduces Heron to the new neighborhood. Heron is interconnected with JFK through 1983 not 1984. Tom returns to the Stonean ethic. Don't talk about net neutrality, talk about anti-trust instead. Heron's wine consumption is a running theme through the recording. Heron explores when he found his primate mind. Tom throws some ancestry into the mix.

Tom raises the Sunset Blush quotient and the Facebook group. Heron is pleased to have contributed to Steve's life. Tom would like the listeners to participate. The NRA and Heron have the same targeted demographic. Heron in Squish needs a Heron definition and it doesn't contain the stupidities. Reification, absolutism, the word the and two valued logic are too advanced for the project. Heron has been experimenting on himself again. Tom gives an overview of his Origin of Mind chapter from fear and desire, to Cynthia Breazeal's work to the narrative engine. Tom identifies the social architect as being a uniquely human thing. They digress into what the internet is for in terms of volume. Tom raises equipment and travel as being the costs for Heron in Squish. They digress into creating female comic characters of Heron and Tom clothing optional. (Editorial note: see Power Girl for the mainstream-ization of this sub genre of comics). 'The Supreme Identity: an essay on Oriental metaphysic and the Christian religion' is a prop for Heron in Squish. Tom defines the layered needs of the project and things that some of Heron's fans may actually have gone too far, already. Heron offers guilt as a topic but prefers the term shame. Tom admits a certain obsession with Snowtown (or the Snowtown Murders as it was called in the US). Heron brightens the topic by talking about a traffic accident. YouTube thinks Tom is a nut. Tom wants to give away all his books. They explore how aging changes the mind.

Heron defines his year in advance and how he's taking a year off to focus his vision. Tom raises the monkey and discusses some truck he has with Kickstarter. They talk about breaking the ceiling of poor expectations. Tom puts forward the idea that a reality show may be an uncharted vehicle versus Facebook. They explore the use of Gendo for PTSD treatment and returned service people in general. Heron likes Sunset Blush and sativa. (Editorial note: most times I cut the wine glass conversation however it is a theme of this recording so it is left in.) Heron talks about those pierced youth. They return to the topic of reality television. Tom explains how to avoid drone strikes thanks to a group in Yemen. Heron and Tom disagree about H+'s role in Tom's death. Tom asks if Heron has considered cat ownership. From cat ownership to cat houses, the conversation digresses. They cover monkey chemistry without external chemicals. Tom asks about Heron's potential retirement and the parts of the monkey that need replacing. They move on to discuss what dating means and cohabiting. Heron acknowledges Stone Ape is the sole means of getting a Stone fix through 2013.
