Content Warning:In this episode we mention a horrible death due to fire, compassionate end of life issues (medically assisted suicide), child death, this one's got a lot so trigger warning for those who need it. We think you'll really benefit from the things these people have to say. Sometimes we get a little scientific. We enjoy trying to come up with possible explanations for some of the things that the clients experience. But this by no means indicates that we do not believe the clients or are invalidating their experiences. We do believe. This episode was recorded on April 7, 2025, and released on May 1, 2025. this release date is Steve DiSchiavi's Birthday!Chapter Markers00:00:00 Intro Before Intro00:00:11 Intro Theme00:00:37 Hello!00:01:20 Content Warning & Housekeeping00:02:46 Overview00:04:34 Segment One – The Set Up00:32:16 Segment Two – Diggin' Tru[ad break]00:54:05 Segment Three – The Reveal00:01:07 False wrap up and…01:09:03 Special surprise discovery!01:13:46 Outro/Disclaimer Episode links:The Dead Files Official Podcast: https://pod.link/1642377102This episode:https://shows.acast.com/the-dead-files/episodes/64ee1a8945b5ac0011669aed SourcesTrainwreck:Train Wreck Kills John T Ray… https://raycityhistory.wordpress.com/2010/12/22/railroad-horror-1888-train-wreck-kills-john-t-ray-and-30-odd-others/Blackshear Bridge Failure: https://www.structuremag.org/article/blackshear-bridge-failure/Taylors:Pearl Taylor, sometimes spelled Pearle: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/52981324/pearle-taylorGeorge Taylor: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/52981110/george_washington-taylorCarol's Letter: https://paranormalphotos.tripod.com/id63.html (you're going to want to look at this one using an ad-blocking browser) Disclaimer:This podcast is in no way affiliated with Warner Brothers, HBOMax, the Travel Channel, Painless TV, or the TV show The Dead Files or any of its cast or crew. Do you make up words and then stick to them when challenged? We sure do! This week we are discussing The Dead Files “A Widow's Revenge” (Season 8 Episode 4) which aired May 27, 2017. This week we relearn what it feels like to really like one of the people in the episode, then find out they might not be so great. This time, it's not the clients (we really liked them) but one of the ghosts! Uncle Bob seemed so cool until we found out he's a little pervy. And he hates those curtains. We talked about how to get your potassium, some ideas for making versatile chicken dishes, and asked the question, can ghosts be narcissistic? So, grab your Thesaurasus, and join us where… The Activity Continues. Content Warning: In this episode we mention Child death in history (likely SIDS), and really horrible treatment of enslaved people. Also, we swear, so don't listen with your kids in the car unless you're cool with that. From the hockey rink to the entrepreneurial arena, Jack McNamara's journey is anything but ordinary. In this episode, Tyler Jorgenson sits down with the former pro athlete turned beverage brand founder to unpack the wild ride that led to Tru — a performance-focused beverage company determined to disrupt a space ruled by giants. Jack shares how growing up in a sports-obsessed family, building with Legos, and training in Europe inspired him to rethink what athletes put in their bodies — and how that passion led to a full-blown beverage startup. But it's not all peach rings and prebiotics. Jack opens up about the curveballs that come with building a brand from scratch in one of the most competitive markets imaginable. From living in a gym with no windows to getting kicked out of his first retail placement (and eventually being welcomed back!), Jack proves that resilience, honesty, and a little bit of delusion might just be the ultimate recipe for success. And yeah — he'd really love to team up with Taylor Swift (who wouldn't?).Whether you're dreaming of building your own billion-dollar beverage brand or just trying to figure out your next big move, this episode is packed with powerful lessons in grit, growth, and thinking one step ahead. Tune in for a rollercoaster of real talk on funding, relationships, gut health, and why solving problems keeps Jack pumped every single day. Key TakeawaysDelusional confidence can be a superpower: Jack credits his naivety and relentless belief in True's success as a key factor in pushing through challenges most people wouldn't dare take on.Relationships are everything: Whether it's a retailer giving a second chance or investors stepping up in tough times, Jack's honest and intentional relationship-building has paid off big time. You don't need to reinvent the wheel — just make a better one: Instead of trying to be different in every way, Jack advises entrepreneurs to focus on one thing they can do better and make that their winning edge. To ietekmē dažādi faktori, tāpēc farmaceiti cenšas palīdzēt pacientam ievērot terapiju. Farmaceitu aptauja atklāj vairākus galvenos iemeslus, kāpēc pacienti neievēro ārstēšanās ieteikumus: finansiālu ierobežojumu dēļ 21,4% pacientu nevar atļauties visus nepieciešamos medikamentus; pāragri pārtrauc ārstēšanu – 23,5% pacientu pārstāj lietot zāles, jo jūtas labāk; bailes no blakusparādībām – 19,9% pacientu izvairās no zāļu lietošanas blakusparādību dēļ; nepietiekama izpratne par ārstēšanas nepieciešamību – 14,1% pacientu nesaprot terapijas mērķi; savukārt 10,3% pacientu regulāri aizmirst lietot medikamentus.
Tim & TRU start the episode by discussing the passing of Caleb Wilson. Our condolences to his family and friends. We follow with asking the question; can a living condition be considered "better" of you are not wanted in the area you live? Do you have to watch the way you talk to your friends and the language you can use with them? Those topics and more on this episode! Just because it's Tru, doesn't mean she's right. This week we're talking about Tru Confessions. Tune in as BenG and Kelsey discuss how annoying Tru is, the logistics of owning glass bowls in a house with a special needs kid, and why shoving a whole carrot down a garbage disposal is a bad idea.
President Donald Trump's speech last night kept us up late, running nearly two-hours outlining his plan to offset lower tax revenues with tariffs on other countries. Here's the latest CPG news happening right now on February 17th, 2025 including Tru Beverage Investment, Blackbird Acquisition, How Poppi's Super Bowl vending machine campaign spiraled out of controlAccording to Bevnet.Com, Functional drink Tru recently closed a $4.6 million funding round highlighted by further alignment with Polar Beverage who will now be handling manufacturing, distribution and warehousing for the brand.US-based vegan food brand Blackbird Foods has announced an acquisition by plant-based investor Ahimsa Companies.Blackbird Foods is well-known for its New York-style hand-tossed frozen pizzas, available US-wide at retailers such as Target, Sprouts, and Whole Foods. The brand also offers plant-based wings made from seitan, which can be found at The Fresh Market and Wegmans.Following the acquisition, Blackbird Foods plans to use Ahimsa's expertise to enhance its distribution and manufacturing capabilities.“We are eager to tap into Ahimsa's extensive knowledge to strengthen Blackbird's presence in the frozen aisle,” said Mike Pease, co-founder of Blackbird Foods. “With their support, we have ambitious plans for growth and exciting product innovations on the horizon.”This year, prebiotic soda brand Poppi ran its second consecutive Super Bowl ad featuring influencers like Jake Shane and Alix Earle. But it wasn't the creator campaign on the big screen that got people talking as much as the one online.Ahead of the game, Poppi sent enormous pink vending machines to 32 creators and “fans of the brand” in NFL team cities, as well as The Boot bar in New Orleans. Recipients began posting videos of the machines, and mayhem ensued: some consumers expressed anger at Poppi for sending free products to “rich people,” while others bemoaned the message it sent to fans of the brand and smaller creators. “When it gets too extravagant…it just feels very out of touch,” creator Isabella Lanter said in a TikTok video response to the campaign. All the while, fellow prebiotic soda brand Olipop, which did not run a Super Bowl ad, jumped on the opportunity to respond to comments, speculate on the cost of the vending machines, and even mail out Super Bowl-themed gifts. One comment from Olipop read, “For the record, those machines cost $25K each lol,” while a post on X said, “We don't have vending machines, but who wants a jersey!!”This week's CPG Vibes episode will cover two topics: Why CPG Brands Fail, and New Brands That Alex and Wade Love. When a government releases 300 pages of audits only minutes before a press conference, everyone knows they have something to hide. In Episode 6 we dive into the details, and tell you just how much of a failure the NDP's health care reforms have been with front-line staff.Part 1-“If the disease in our health-care system is a culture of dysfunction, then the symptom of that disease is fiscal mismanagement.”- Manitoba Health Minister Uzoma Asagwara on Wednesday. If anyone's an expert on dysfunction and fiscal mismanagement, it's the Manitoba NDP.You'll hear a few of the unmentioned costs rung up by Shared Health, who the NDP expects you to trust to turn that ship around, and a budget preparation model proposed by the auditors that for some reason isn't good enough for Winnipeg councillors.21.05- Part 2-"After years of losing nurses in Manitoba, we've … started to turn the corner."- Premier Wab Kinew on Friday. That's exceptionally wishful thinking. You'll hear why around that corner, is a cliff. And the NDP has 481 new passengers- em, newly hired nurses - being driven off it.As reported in The Black Rod, a survey of nurses by the union revealed that only 1% of members agreed the Kinew/Asagwara "listening tours" scored an A for responding to what they heard needs fixing. The survey results also show a startling number of nurses"reconsider(ed) how long you anticipate remaining in your nursing career".From workload to workplace violence, the results add up to a solid F - despite the earnest pro-NDP stance of union management.Nurses on the front lines aren't willing to suffer in silence. An MNU Instagram post in January hints that the problem is with the double-dribbling point guard Kinew expects to lead the team."Manitobans need transparency. Manitobans need action." Can Kinew convince Manitobans they need Asagwara? He may have to convince himself first.See also-https://winnipegsun.com/opinion/gold-no-wonder-nurses-quit-really-sick-go-to-the-er-at-your-own-risk******In the Winnipeg Sun on Sunday- my discussion about the proposed drug user site in Point Douglas with a federal official revealed the feds had a little problem with NDP Addictions Minister Bernadette Smith and CBC. And, a day care parent has a problem with a gap in the Health Canada guidelines for public consultations that Smith and the proponents of the site might be taking advantage of.******The Season Six funding campaign has received our first contribution, even before we kicked it off!Your support, whether it's for $100, more, or less, all counts towards ensuring this platform can continue to deliver the analysis, information and interviews you need to know- with no Tru-dough!Our Donate page on ActionLine.ca lists our Top Podcasts of 2024; interviews with political leaders, public figures and crime victims; and reports on City Hall and the Legislature. Today's episode gets into the need to increase Detroit's transit funding, and what advocates at Transportation Riders United (TRU) say is the path toward a better transit system in the city. Our guest is Joel Batterman of TRU. Key Takeaways: Discussing the DDOT Reimagined Plan: The city of Detroit released a plan in 2024 that would double the amount of bus service in the city, but it seems there isn't the funding for it. Frequent Transit: Advocates say that transit is considered “frequent” when a bus comes every 15 minutes, and that this is not always the case in Detroit's current system. Impacts of Inadequate Transit: Hear how a lack of reliable public transportation effects residents and limits economic mobility The Role of Funding: Discuss how Detroit invests less in transit compared to other similar metro regions, and hear more about a campaign to double the city's investment. What TRU says is needed: They'd like to see $150 million added to the current Detroit Department of Transportation budget. Send us a textToday, We do a deep dive of the RHOP Grand Dame, Karen Huger DUI arrest, the tea she dropped was good she was Thomas Jefferson's concubine? You have to hear it for yourself. Also I am sent tea, she is getting a divorce. This makes me think of Peter Thomas from RHOA and RHOP final punishment. I share how horrific it is. I give you some Miami tea, I have only spoken about in bonus audios here. I talk about the Hilton Christmas and Kim Richard's trust issues with the family and why rehab has been such a struggle. Then we discuss the behind the scenes gossip Alexis Bellino spilled about RHOC S17 ending with a real fight with Tamra and Heather. Funny Tamra came out saying she was responsible for why the show has the highest ratings in 5 years surrounding it. We discuss the Anderson Brother's Twins of wealth sex trafficking and rape case. I just called them before they were arrested! I wish we could have Mauricio's take on them. Kourtney Kardashian doesn't seem to be that good of a stepmom to Alabama since she slept with Bad Bhabie's loser boyfriend while he just had a baby and she has cancer. I kind of feel a Kardashian pattern with men continuing here. I start from the beginning of this feud and tie it to Dr Phil, which might explain why Kim Richard's didn't want to go to the rehab he wanted to send her too (prev segment). Also, the breaking code silences scandal with Paris Hilton. Andy Cohen's weird RHONJ press response and some things I have heard. Mauricio's model won't stay; he isn't rich enough. In this episode of The TRU Leader Podcast, hosts Michelle and Tracy explore the concept of Thriving, Resilient, and Unstoppable (TRU) leadership, emphasizing the importance of resilient leaders for the success of organizations, communities, and families. They stress the need for leaders to reassess ingrained norms and limiting beliefs, which often lead to burnout, highlighting how the misconception that hard work alone guarantees success can be detrimental. Drawing on Maslow's hierarchy of needs, the discussion reveals that many leaders operate at basic survival levels, struggling to meet their own needs in a complex environment. Emotional connections and relationships are underscored as essential for leadership success, with self-actualization being the ultimate goal for TRU leaders. The episode delves into key strategies for leadership development, focusing on balancing professional achievements with personal fulfillment. Mentorship is framed around managing four core polarities: work-life balance, self-care, rest, and maintaining relationships. To help leaders achieve their goals, the podcast introduces a dynamic balance plan that includes setting boundaries, calendar blocking, and prioritization. Finally, the concept of “being it first” encourages leaders to embody resilience and leadership qualities before taking action, helping them overcome fears and limiting beliefs to thrive both professionally and personally. In this History of Prints (HoP) episode, Tru and I finish talking about the life and work of William Hogarth, the father of Western sequential art. We look at and pick apart three series: Industry and Idleness, The Four Stages of Cruelty, and Humours of an Election. Timely, no? Hogarth continues to point out society's faults and baser instincts. He never stopped trying to teach the masses about comportment and judgment. Episode image: William Hogarth (British, 1697–1764). Gin Lane, 1751. Etching and engraving. Sheet: 15 1/16 x 12 1/2 in. In this History of Western Prints (HoP) episode, Tru and I begin to explore the life and work of William Hogarth, the first British artist featured on Platemark's HoP series. Hogarth, renowned as the father of Western sequential art, is discussed through detailed analyses of three of his best known series: A Harlot's Progress, A Rake's Progress, and Marriage A-la-Mode. The episode delves into 18th-century London's morality, capturing the societal and artistic context of Hogarth's work. Highlights include discussions on the intricacies of Hogarth's prints, his depiction of social issues, the impact of his work on English law (copyright laws finally established!), and his mixed successes in various art forms. This first of two episodes on Hogarth sets the stage for part two when we look at his images around elections in Enlightenment England. On the afternoon of July 11, 2022, at about 1400 hrs, two Hamilton County Ohio Sheriff's Detectives observed an escapee from the River City Correctional Facility in Cincinnati, in the parking lot of the Baymont Inn hotel. Although they were unable to make a positive identification before the suspect entered the hotel, they contacted the Mason Police Department for support. A Mason officer learned that the female observed in the parking lot with the suspect (whom she had just met) was registered to room 310. These two detectives as well as several additional Mason police officers knocked on the door of the room and were immediately met with screaming, yelling, profanity and threats of violence made by the suspect. Mason Police immediately requested assistance from the Warren County Tactical Response Unit (WCTRU). The suspect then barricaded himself inside keeping the woman as a hostage and threatening to kill her if officers came through the door. Several times the suspect was seen at the window and officers could see a knife in his hand. WCTRU used a negotiator throughout the night to talk to the suspect but at approximately 0230 hrs as negotiations broke down, the team forced entry into room 310 and observed the suspect holding a knife to the hostage's throat. A single TRU team member fired one round into the suspect's face, ending the standoff and recovering the hostage. In keeping with our standard policy, we will not be using the suspect's name or identifying him in any way. It is our hope that he will be erased by the sands of time. We will, of course, be using the officers' names because they are heroes and need to be remembered.
