Syria's president says he is ready to support any "popular resistance" against Turkey's invasion. The Syrian government has agreed, after Russia mediation, to deploy in areas Kurdish-led forces control in northeastern Syria after U.S troops withdrew. Syria's troop deployment sets up a potential wider conflict between Turkey and Syrian government forces. But Russia is currently hosting negotiations with Turkey about arrangements along the border. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has won a second term in Canada's national elections, losing the majority but saying he's been given a clear mandate despite an increasingly divided Parliament and nation. Trudeau's Liberal Party took the most seats in Parliament, though it lost the overall popular vote to the Conservative Party. Former President Jimmy Carter is in the hospital after falling and fracturing his pelvis. This is the third time he's fallen in recent months. A Carter Center spokeswoman says the fracture is minor..and Cater, who is 95, is in good spirits.
