Send us a textAreo Hotah watches as the skull of the Mountain is presented to Prince Doran Martell. Finally peace between Dorne and the Iron Throne, predicted no one, ever. Mackelly and Simon roll out the barbed wire and start digging the trenches.Chapter Review:In the Old Palace of Sunspear, Areo Hotah watches as Maester Caleotte delivers an ebony chest to Prince Doran Martell. Inside is the skull of Gregor Clegane, which Obara Sand places on a marble pedestal. Doran declares that “the Mountain rides no more.” Ser Balon Swann, there on behalf of Queen Cersei, is made uneasy by the spicy food, the politics, and Princess Arianne's careful attention.Cersei's letter requests that Myrcella visit King's Landing, with Trystane to accompany her and Doran to take Oberyn's seat on the small council. Doran suggests they travel by ship, and Balon's reluctance to travel by sea does not go unnoticed. After the feast, Doran gathers Obara, Nymeria, Tyene, Arianne, Ellaria, and Hotah in his solar. Ellaria breaks at the Sand Snakes' refusal to accept the end of the blood feud with the Lannisters, rejecting the endless cycle of vengeance. When she leaves, the Sand Snakes demand war, but Doran forces them to swear obedience before revealing that Cersei's invitation is a trap meant to kill Trystane on the road. Instead of violating guest right by killing Swann, Doran assigns each Sand Snake a role: Obara will lead Swann to hunt Darkstar, Nymeria will escort Myrcella to court and take the small council seat, and Tyene will infiltrate the Sept of Baelor. Arianne will remain in Sunspear as his heir. As plans move forward, Dorne prepares to strike back its own way.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Areo Hotah - Captain in Prince Doran Martell's service.Prince Doran Martell - Infirmed ruler of Dorne.Princess Arianne Martell - Princess of Dorne. The Drive with Paul Swann – September 26, 2025 On today's episode of The Drive with Paul Swann, we preview Marshall's upcoming road matchup against Louisiana as the Thundering Herd prepare for a pivotal Saturday showdown. Swann breaks down what's at stake, key matchups to watch, and the implications for the Sun Belt standings.Plus, with the NFL weekend ahead, Paul shares his thoughts on why he's pulling for the Cincinnati Bengals—even when former Marshall football players are suiting up for the opposition.Listener calls and social media reactions round out the show, as fans weigh in on Herd football, NFL loyalties, and more.
They were the defending champs… and they were just getting started. After a draft in 1974 that would eventually produce 5 Hall of Famers… names like Lambert, Swann, Stallworth, Shell and Webster… the Steelers were ready to repeat as champions… and while the 2nd year players began to come into their own in '75, the team was led by Quarterback Terry Bradshaw, who 5 years after being the #1 overall pick out of Louisiana Tech, was finally ready to claim the role as QB1 without having to look over his shoulder. And on the defensive side of things… the Steel Curtain was ready to wreak havoc on the opposing quarterbacks throughout the NFL. LC Greenwood, Ernie Holmes, Dwight White and the man on the cover of the September 22, 1975 issue of Sports Illustrated, Mean Joe Greene were laying the foundation for a Steelers dynasty… 4 Super Bowl wins in 6 years! The NFL's first two-time Defensive Player of the Year winner, Joe Greene was everything you wanted in a leader… tough, driven, disciplined, and in this case, yes, a little mean. His years in Pittsburgh would end with a gold jacket in Canton and a legacy that is second to none in the Steel City, or anywhere for that matter. Alex Kozora is someone who appreciates Mean Joe and the Steelers and has been covering the team for over a decade as one of the hosts on The Terrible Podcast, a Steelers podcast for Pittsburgh Steelers fans where he and Dave Bryan discuss the goings on of one of the most successful franchises in the NFL. But that wasn't always the case. Prior to Chuck Noll's and Mean Joe's arrival in 1969, the Steelers had been to one playoff game in their 37 years in the NFL. But in 1972, that all changed… David Orochena is a writer for www.steelersdepot.com and contributor to The Terrible Podcast and he tells us that the “Immaculate Reception” was much more than just the Steelers winning their first ever playoff game. It was a defining moment for the sports structure of Pittsburgh. A week after Franco Harris caught the ball out of midair off a deflection, Roberto Clemente was tragically killed in a plane crash helping bring aid to an earthquake-ravaged Nicaragua. The death of a man who symbolized Pittsburgh and the Pirates completely devastated the city and according to Orochena, it was the Steelers that helped fill that void going forward. It's much more than just the X's & O's of professional football. It's a chat with two guys who know the ins and outs of a franchise that were the laughing stock of the NFL for decades… and turned it around in the mid 70's to become the envy of every organization in the league. Alex and David tell us about how Terry Bradshaw finally won the QB job for good in '75, how the Terrible Towel came to be and inspired a couple of guys years later to start a Terrible Podcast… and how one play changed the course of the Steelers franchise and how the Steel Curtain came to symbolize a team on it's way glory. They dominated and kicked tail and didn't care who got in their way… Was it nice? No… it was mean… Mean Joe Greene and the 1975 Steelers on the Past Our Prime podcast… Listen to both Past Our Prime and The Terrible Podcast wherever you get your podcasts and please leave a review and a 5-star rating if you desire. In this week's episode of the B2B Marketing Podcast, Kavita Singh spoke to Matt Hicks, Strategy Director, Lesniak Swann to describe the data trap that marketers often fall into when creating campaigns. In our podcast episode, Matt does validate the importance of data, but stresses that data alone can lead to dogma, and dogma doesn't make for effective marketing. The two also chat about everything from why strategists love data so much to the metrics that need to be measured beyond the standard KPIs. If that wasn't enough, Matt uses a metaphorical sandwich and the great magician Aleister Crowley to explain what a 'magick' moment in B2B marketing looks like. Curious what that means? Listen to find out all.
Today in the interrogation chair, it's Georgia Writer of the Year, Christopher Swann where we talk about the Georgia writing scene, how he credits his success to stubbornness and encouragement, how he's written an origin story for his Suzy Faulkner character for my anthology, and what scares him as a writer. Eliza Swann, also known as Emerald, is a writer, artist, alchemist and scholar based in New York. Swann's formative years cultivated a deep interest in the intertwined studies of mysticism and fine art, which remain central to their work as both artist and educator. Swann received a BA in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute (2004) and an MFA from Central St. Martins in London (2012). Additionally, Swann is an initiate in Gnostic and Hermetic orders, has studied Vedic cosmology with Dr. Vagsish Shastri, trained in mindfulness meditation at the Insight Meditation Society, and studied herbalism and gardening under the guidance of their witch aunt. These studies inform their expansive approach to esoteric and ecological practices.Swann teaches art and mysticism as a unified practice and, in 2014, founded Golden Dome, an artist-in-residence program rooted in queer intersectional mysticism. Since its inception, Golden Dome has expanded to offer nationwide exhibitions, residencies, publications, and educational programming. Swann is currently faculty at Pratt Institute, where they teach “The Alchemical Imagination”, a course they created to introduce alchemical concepts to contemporary creative practice. In 2025, Swann transitioned from directing Golden Dome to launch a new initiative: Emerald School, which explores alchemy as a living, transdisciplinary practice. As a visual artist, Swann has exhibited internationally, most recently at the University of California Santa Cruz and the Feminist Center for Creative Work in Los Angeles. They are the author of The Anatomy of the Aura, Green Mary, and The Alchemical Imagination, and have contributed to numerous publications. Their work has been supported by PEN America, the Foundation for Contemporary Art, the Author's League Fund, the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, the Pratt Faculty Development Fund, the Feminist Center for Creative Work, the Hemera Fellowship for Contemplative Practice, and the Wassaic Project.Today Eliza shares about their roots, literally, the gardens of their aunt and a return to them after living and traveling beyond. We talk about alchemy and how it folds many disciplines, prayer, devotion, poetry, intuition... into its being. Eliza recalls teachers both direct and indirect and what they're work surfaced. We discuss grief and how alchemy has supported them in navigating both the personal and the global. The Emerald School is the container for their work where they guide folks through the stages of alchemy including a freeing of self and specialty, to move into deeper collaboration with all. "The school becomes a crucible: a space where diverse elements converge, disciplinary boundaries blur, and new ways of knowing can take shape."We talk about their upcoming 9 week online course, "The Alchemical Imagination," Sept. 14-Nov. 16, and their upcoming offering as a part of the O+ Festival, "The Star Inside: Alchemy and the Power of Plants" and why mugwort became a part of the conversation.Today's show was engineered by Ian Seda from Radiokingston.org.Our show music is from Shana Falana!Feel free to email me, say hello: she@iwantwhatshehas.org** Please: SUBSCRIBE to the pod and leave a REVIEW wherever you are listening, it helps other users FIND IThttp://iwantwhatshehas.org/podcastITUNES | SPOTIFYITUNES: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/i-want-what-she-has/id1451648361?mt=2SPOTIFY:https://open.spotify.com/show/77pmJwS2q9vTywz7Uhiyff?si=G2eYCjLjT3KltgdfA6XXCAFollow:INSTAGRAM * https://www.instagram.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast/FACEBOOK * https://www.facebook.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast
In this episode of The Infinite Spark of Being Podcast, we explore the true story of Ingo Swann, the man whose mind helped launch the CIA's psychic research into remote viewing. On this week's episode we're tackling a topic we've been meaning to discuss for a long time: Despite being pervasive in both performance and medical spaces, SMART goals are no actually an evidence based way to change health and fitness behaviors. They may even, in some cases, be harmful. Our guest, Dr. Christian Swann, is a Professor of Psychology at Southern Cross University in Australia where he leads the Physical Activity, Sport and Exercise Research (PASER) group.Christian's background is in sport and exercise psychology, and his expertise is in goal setting. His research focuses on how to set goals to increase and maintain physical activity, and he is particularly interested in how different goal setting approaches make us feel while we pursue them — as well as how they influence our mental health. As part of an international team of researchers he published "The (over)use of SMART goals for physical activity promotion: A narrative review and critique." This article aimed to answer a few key questions:Is the SMART framework based on theory? Is it consistent with existing evidence? Does it consider what type of goal is set? Is it applied consistently? Is it being used as originally intended? Does it carry any risks?Once you learn the history of SMART goals, some of the answers become a lot less surprising...
Tonight, we'll read another excerpt from French writer Marcel Proust's monumental “In Search of Lost Time” which is seven volumes long, and first published in 1913. “In Search of Lost Time” follows the narrator's recollections and experiences in the late 19th-century and early 20th-century high-society France, while reflecting on the loss of time and lack of meaning in the world. This series does not necessarily need to be followed in order. Rather than being plot driven, it is more of a meditation on memories, consciousness and ambiance. The first episode aired on May 9th, 2022, and is titled “Overture.” The second episode, “The Magic Lantern” aired on July 11, 2022. The third episode, “M. Swann” aired on September 12, 2022.A madeleine de Proust is an expression used to describe smells, tastes, sounds or any sensations reminding you of your childhood or simply bringing back emotional memories from a long time ago. — read by 'V' — Sign up for Snoozecast+ to get expanded, ad-free access by going to snoozecast.com/plus! Tonight, we'll read “M. Swann” the next part in our series from French writer Marcel Proust's monumental “In Search of Lost Time” which is seven volumes long, and first published in 1913. “In Search of Lost Time” follows the narrator's recollections and experiences in the late 19th-century and early 20th-century high-society France. This series does not necessarily need to be followed in order—as it drifts more like memory itself, circling themes and impressions rather than following a linear story. In this episode, we meet Charles Swann, a family acquaintance whose name and presence loom large in the narrator's early life. Though Swann appears casual and charming, his social status, romantic entanglements, and eventual tragedies become central threads in the broader tapestry of the novel. — read by 'V' — Sign up for Snoozecast+ to get expanded, ad-free access by going to snoozecast.com/plus! On Friday the 7th of February 1936, 32-year-old Carmen Swann booked a twin room for one night in Clarendon Court at 33 Maida Vale, West London. Staying in Room 4 of Flat 20 on the third floor, she and her 8-year-old daughter unpacked their cases, popped on their nightdresses, ordered a pot of tea and got into bed beside the reassuring warmth of the fire.
