It was a pleasure to welcome Dave Slattery of instrumental Tech Metal band Ropemaker to the show. Dave, a multi-instrumentalist enrolled the talents of former Ilenkus drummer Rory Guyett for an instrumental album that's laden with huge slabs of riffs and unpredictable arrangements. 'Interwoven' is Ropemakers debut LP and certainly caused a stir in the Irish Metal Scene, myself and Danielle have a brilliant chat with Dave & Rory about song composition, life as a solo artist and an in depth look at how Ropemaker came into fruition. Dave is yet another great addition to the incredible solo artists out there in our Irish Metal Scene. Check out his Bandcamp page in the link below and support it if you like what you heard on the show. Once again please 'SUBSCRIBE' to The Metal Cell Podcast if you want to hear more interviews like this. Thanks Richie. Occasionally, Radical Research dares to tackle the big questions: what is time, and can we have a piece of it? Can a psychic saw perform brain surgery? Can a metal album have a samba track and several bars of Miami bass hip-grind? On episode 91, a look into the works of Florida's seminal tech titans, Atheist, we take on these and other pressing matters. Pull up a chair and strap on your trustiest pair of headphones: it's pizza time. Note I: We meant to bring it up in the conversation, but simply overlooked this fascinating, Atheist-related trivia: Atheist's Kelly Shaefer auditioned for Velvet Revolver, the band formed by members of Guns ‘N Roses. You can check out some Blabbermouth reporting on this event here: https://blabbermouth.net/news/atheist-frontman-talks-about-his-velvet-revolver-audition https://blabbermouth.net/news/velvet-revolver-2002-kelly-shaefer-vocalist-audition-tape-posted-online Note II: Hunter misspoke, and Jeff mis-agreed with him: Kelly Shaefer didn't stop playing guitar due to tinnitus, of course. He stopped due to carpel tunnel syndrome. This podcast is conceived and conducted by Jeff Wagner and Hunter Ginn. Though we consume music in a variety of ways, we give particular privilege to the immersive, full-album listening experience. Likewise, we believe that tangible music formats help provide the richest, most rewarding immersions and that music, artwork, and song titles cooperate to produce a singular effect on the listener. Great music is worth more than we ever pay for it.
The LGBT+ heavy metal podcast fondly recalls that time Rammstein's guitarists kissed on stage in Russia, and explains that, coming from that band, and given the location they did it in, this gesture meant more to the hosts than when some other bands have done similar things. And yes, of course they use it as an excuse to talk about the band's infamous phallic foam cannons. The latest classic metal song to be outed as mega gay is 'Roots Bloody Roots', as the Sepultura anthem is this week's Camp Classic. And there are a surprisingly large list of reasons for it.Plus this week's entries for the Hate Crew Gaybar jukebox are Aphelion, the new album from Matt's less-than-secret obsession Leprous, and Differences In Language And Lifestyle, the debut album from Croatian genre-ignorers Moon Unit. And yes, Mr Rushton had to be tied down while the first one of those was discussed. For his and everyone else's safety.

On episode 34 of The Rock N' Roll & Coffee Show we chat with vocalist Jason McMaster. Jason is probably best known for his work in the late 80's rock band Dangerous Toys and Tech Metal pioneers Watchtower. We discuss both of those bands as well as many of his other rock and metal projects and some information about new Dangerous Toys material. Jason had a lot of stories to tell and it was great speaking with him. Thanks for listening and enjoy! Germany’s Atrocity have been plying their execrable goth-metal wares since 1994’s precipitously tragic Blut, but the band’s first two albums, 1990’s Hallucinations and 1992’s Todessehnsucht (aka Longing for Death), occupy space in the top tier of death metal’s golden age. Wild, technical, psychotic, and destructive,...

A Skeptic’s Universe is what happens when student becomes master. Spiral Architect’s school years were spent in obscurity, honing their craft, learning their lessons, keeping their noses to the grindstone. In 1998 they began work on their master’s thesis, and in early 2000, upon publication,...
Can you sense them? The ghosts? Quiet yourself for a moment. They hang in the air and whisper in our ears. They taunt us with memories of a golden age. Listen closely and you can hear the spectral voice: “1993.” They mock the sterility and...
