We talk all about Jeremy's upbringing in Burbank, CA, and how he went from Nirvana and Michael Jackson to Sepultura and Earth Crisis... From facing adversity growing up due to his unique speaking voice & his early bands, to finding the courage to sing for Touché Amoré, breaking down their entire discography, including their now 10 year old landmark "Stage Four", grieving to the masses via the albums lyrics, working with Ross Robinson, and much more. This is one of our most requested and anticipated guests of all time, by you and by us, and it lead to a conversation where I learned a lot about someone I've known for over 20 years.
This week on Into The Necrosphere, Hellenic black metal legend The Magus joins me to discuss his new album Daemonosophia and his pivotal role in shaping the Greek black metal movement as a founding force behind Necromantia. We revisit the roots of the Hellenic scene, his creative brotherhood with Baron Blood, the occult philosophy driving his work, his devotion to medieval fencing, and his unfiltered perspective on modern society and the state of the underground. In Unsanctioned Filth, one-man black metal entity Death Ritual earns his stripes among the unsigned elite, while Matt Priso (SIK, Spells Ov Torment, Conspiracy X) joins the Weekly News Rant to pass judgement on new releases from Aversio Humanitatis, Sepultura, Monstrosity, Cruel Force and more. We answer questions from the Legion — and award a fully merited Swirly of the Week to those who think a 35-year-old horror film should come with a sensitivity warning. Track-By-Track Album Battle Sepultura Beneath The Remains Vs. Arise
This week we conclude Jarvis' three-part interview of Cirith Ungol founder / drummer Robert Garven going back through the mists of time to the early days of that legendary band. Rob explains how vocalist Tim Baker came into the fold and talks about the previous singer, Neil Beattie. He goes on to tell the remarkable story of how the Frost and Fire debut album came to be. It was a completely DIY affair, from financing to recording to artwork to pressing to distribution, which was unheard of in those days. Rob also explains how he obtained the legal right to use the Cirith Ungol name from the Lord of the Rings books. It's a fascinating dive into a bygone era, at the very dawn of heavy metal in America. Everything Christmas from Where the Gearheads Are (with a little Judiasm and Islam thrown in), we've got a fun Xmas Day analysis of what's up in OUR world. Why is it important to focus on being the giver? How can you put all the phones away - if but for a day? How do you overcome the challenge of shopping for a geek (shooters, gamers, gardeners, stereophiles and makers worldwide need apply)? Why is "Sleigh Ride" the best Christmas song (even if it's 70º and sunny)? Can a Xmas turkey (chili) satisfy all comers? Is untraditional (or is it non?) Xmas music suitable for old peopled? Why are old school, classical decorations always better? ...Same for presents - how are over-the-shoulder throwback gifts always going to hit better than shiny new stuff? There's also family movies, lost-and-found Xmas tunes, essential fireplaces, the Yule log, helping out the oldsters with their decorations (the effort matters), and lighting for a barbed-wire wreath. More/merrier: Christmas music from Brian Setzer, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Burl Ives, Boston Pops, Sepultura, Mannheim Steamroller, Louie Armstrong, Holst, Louie Primo, Guns 'N Roses, Steve Bennett, Dean Martin, with a little bit of James Bond on top.

No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims”. - “Kings of Metal” hedder årets album fra Manowar. Send in your music story!A metal icon noticed them first, but the story gets louder from there. We're sitting with Chained Saint—teens with vintage swagger and modern force—unpacking how a Halford nod, a garage education, and a ruthless love of riffs turned into songs that hit like a live amp.We get into the DNA of their sound: Sepultura's gravity, Pantera's bite, and that Rush sheen hiding in the chorusy leads. Ethan breaks down a no-frills rig built around a JCM 800, Tube Screamer punch, and an EVH Phase 90 for lift, while Sebastian explains the SansAmp-to-Darkglass path that makes “Animosity” cut through in E♭. Cameron talks snare tuning and Grohl-level energy, proving you don't need a warehouse of gear to land a stadium-ready crack. It's a masterclass in tone discipline: choose the right tools, then play like you mean it.Beyond the gear, we talk songwriting and structure—why they refuse to pick between hooks and bridges, and how “1000 Tons” captured the band's pivot under real pressure. There's tour grit too: that DC haul up a second-floor stage, the shock on new faces when four young players launch old-soul heaviness, and the joy of making music parents and kids can share without irony. Dream collabs with Drain and Power Trip make perfect sense once you hear how they define the next era in one word: power. If you miss riffs that move a room and lyrics pulled from lived moments, you'll want this in your queue. The Mysterious Whore Of Sepulveda Blvd. Someone “upgraded” the California DMV, and it worked out about as well as you'd expect. One of my biggest Hollywood crushes semi-flirted with me. (Maybe. Kind of.) More like LAME-ian Echols. In one of the worst sell outs/hypocrisies in the history of this podcast, I went to see One Battle After Another, and give my thoughts about it. The new AFI stuff is making its way out there, and people are embracing the weirdness. In one of, and possibly THE most metal nostalgic nights of my life, I went to see Sepultura-ish do Chaos AD, with Fear Factory and Prong also on the lineup. (Unfortunately….in Orange County.)

Existuje Slovensko? Může za všechno Fiala nebo Kalousek? Kam hipstři kladou vajíčka? Ví Dan Vávra všechno a je prasátko Pepa Antikrist? To všechno se dozvíte v dnešní vypečené epizodě.

In this episode of the Endless Metal podcast, Markisan conducts a solo interview with Jason Roberts, the man behind the expansive doomgaze project Breaths. This is a companion piece to Jason's previous appearance on Markisan's main gig on the Metalheads Podcast. On episode 152, the metalheads go deep into Jason's musical development and the origin story of Breaths as well as a discussion about last year's stunning self-titled album. Here, Markisan and Jason talk about Breaths latest record, “Death Can Wait.” In the first half of this episode, they go deep into the writing and recording process of the album—a truly stunning work that finds Breaths spunding darker and heavier but still retaining the melodic atmospheric, indeed, oxygenated “breathy” beauty of last year's release. As huge fans of nineties music, Markisan and Jason wax about this formative decade in their lives. Presenting a fitting top 10 count down of their all-time favorite records of the 1990s, they come to a deeper appreciation of the bands they grew up loving—metal, pop, hardcore, or otherwise. So kick back and blast a classic 90s records by Tool, Hum, The Gathering, Earth Crisis, Sepultura, etc. and crack open a classic 90s brew (released in ‘89), Full Sail Amber ale!

“It's like the Sam Kinison meets Bobcat Goldthwait of dogs…” Bridging the gap between the thrash metal of the late 80's and early 90's and the tidal wave of groove metal that made landfall in the metal community during the early 90's (courtesy of Pantera), MACHINE HEAD came screaming out of the gate on August 9th, 1994, with their blisteringly crushing debut, BURN MY EYES. Filled with brutally heavy riffs that occasionally blur the lines between thrash, groove, and even death metal, BURN MY EYES marked the continuing expansion of the next “next” wave of thrash and groove metal. Discover the not-so-subtle ways that “Rod Roddy and Johnny Olson” have impacted this podcast, find out why “speaking in cursive” is not always helpful, and remember that not everybody gets to be “Charlie Chaplin”, even though you're already more than “halfway there” whenever you “solemnly swear”. Realize that “Phil Dremel and Robb Frynn” go back a few years, prepare to experience “SepulPanThrera”, and behold the impact that “writing with 7's” can have on riffs when you JOIN US for the MACHINE HEAD debut that helped further the evolution of thrash and groove with BURN MY EYES.
