PUBLIC VERSION. Singer/songwriter Jason McMaster (DANGEROUS TOYS, IGNITOR, WATCHTOWER, BROKEN TEETH) joins Adam and Arwen in the ArieScope Studio to share his hard rocking career journey. From forming his first band at 17… to the 40 years he's now spent playing in WATCHTOWER… to why religion is afraid of rock n roll… to what the true meaning is behind the slogan “keep Austin weird”… to the joys and success that can come from not having an agenda… to how quickly DANGEROUS TOYS found success and the very famous musician who warned “that may not be a good thing”… to why the name of the band was only supposed to be temporary… to what it was like making the jump from playing in clubs to playing in big arenas and having videos in regular rotation on MTV and radio… to why he never fell victim to the typical rock star party antics… to his extraordinarily positive attitude about being content just playing rock n roll… to his unique style of singing and his work teaching music to kids through School Of Rock… to his philosophy that true fans never grow out of the things they're fans of… Jason's message of “be who you are, love what you love, and do what makes you happy” is one that will lift up everyone in THE MOVIE CRYPT audience. Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for a listener struggling with depression, Adam and Jason nerd out over their music collectibles, and Jason reveals how his early correspondence with James Hetfield wound up being included in METALLICA's incredibly comprehensive “Kill ‘Em All” and “Ride the Lightning” box sets! NOTE: This extended length episode also includes Jason's appearance during YORKIETHON 5 from December 2020! (Patreon only.)

This week we're joined by Jason McMaster to discuss the making of the 1989 self-titled debut from Dangerous Toys! As per usua with our Albums Unleashed episodes, we dig into many facets of this album as well as the circumstances around it. In this long-form discussion, Jason gives us the origin story of Dangerous Toys including how changes with his serious gig with progressive thrash band Watchtower would lead to him to moonlight with cover bands. One of these cover bands would turn into Dangerous Toys. The story behind how, basically, a party gig would turn into a major label band is pretty incredible. The chain of events, circumstances, and connections that would lead the band to being signed will surprise you. Additionally, Jason discusses the making of several songs on the album including 'Scared,' 'Sportin' a Woody,' 'Feels Like a Hammer,' 'Queen of the Nile' and more as well as what the studio environment was like with legendary producer Max Norman. Other interesting topics covered include the backstory of Bill Z. Bub, the band's mascot, hanging out on the Sunset Strip during the area's heyday, album photography done with Mark Weiss, a special promo jack-in-the-box item story that's crazy in and of itself and much more! If you love Dangerous Toys, this episode is a MUST-LISTEN! We thank Jason McMaster for being such a great guest with so many great stories! Be sure to check out Jason and co-host "Metal" Dave Glessner on the Talk Louder podcast as well! It's a great show! Billy WhiteAs a member of Watchtower (along with our own Jason McMaster), guitarist Billy White helped pave the way for progressive, thrash-metal music. After making his mark on the now-classic 1985 “Energetic Disassembly” album, he left Watchtower and resurfaced as a member of Don Dokken's solo supergroup in time to record and release the 1990 album, “Up From the Ashes.” He later formed the blues-influenced Billy White Trio before ultimately devoting his life to more spiritual pursuits. He joins us to discuss Watchtower's kitchen-sink approach, how Warren DeMartini played a role in his Dokken gig and how silence can be the most beautiful sound of all.Created and Produced by Jared Tuten

Happy New Years Metalheads! Tonight we share a fun story of how a veteran Metal Singer saved the day for two of this falls most anticipated Tours. It Started With THIS: German/American heavy metal legends ACCEPT have recruited Jason McMaster (DANGEROUS TOYS, WATCHTOWER) to sing for the band as ACCEPT‘s longtime frontman Mark Tornillo, who is unable to make the gig because he is recovering from a “virus infection”. And Ended with THIS : "Unfortunately, luck has dealt me a gnarly knuckleball," ARMORED SAINT Vocalist John Bush wrote in his post. "I came down with an illness and even though it hasn't made me feel bad, it still has infiltrated my nasal and chest area and planted itself. "Luckily, longtime friend and Armored Saint fan Jason McMaster (Dangerous Toys/ Broken Teeth) is coming to the rescue again. He's already helped Accept earlier this year on tour and now he's stepping into the batter's box for me. I am extremely grateful, and I know he'll kill it! We were there in CLEVELAND with John Bush and ARMORED SAINT and in PENNSYLVANIA when Jason Took over for Bush. Welcome to Episode 12! In this week's “Coffee with consultants” feature, we're going off-brand a bit and interviewing a registrar in our featured specialty. Nonetheless, this week's episode features a specialty that so many of you have requested that I simply could not wait! And so, I'm very pleased to introduce this week's episode, which is all about the path to specialising in paediatric surgery. Dr Jason Mcmaster is currently a registrar in paediatric surgery at the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital in South Africa. After completing internship and community service, Dr Mcmaster held a medical officer post in the paediatric burns unit at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, where he discovered his calling and passion. It was a great privilege to interview Dr McMaster for this podcast, and I'm sure you'll find the interview extremely interesting. Whether you've had any exposure to paediatric surgery or not, it should please you to know that the training available in South Africa in paediatric surgery is excellent and compares favourably with high-income countries, who often send their surgeons to South Africa to further their skills. Listening to Dr Mcmaster, it was encouraging and motivating to learn just how highly esteemed the South African clinical setting is. We would do well to appreciate the opportunities we get as junior doctors and medical students, even amongst the challenges. Success seemed imminent, but never happened. Then tragedy struck. Guitarist Kyle Ellison walks us through subsequent (and cathartic) stints with the Butthole Surfers, Meat Puppets, Roky Erickson, Ministry and his recent collaboration with actress Renee Zellweger. He also tells us how he and his brother, Sims, landed in a Madonna video and that time our own Jason McMaster shared a mic with Axl Rose. Created and Produced by Jared Tuten

Do you like being scared? We certainly do, and that's why Wet Tee Shirt Podcast is kicking off October with four weeks of Halloween, beginning with the Dangerous Toys classic, "Scared". Candace the Clown has some pretty specific criteria when it comes to music she's up for playing this month, so the songs all have to have something about them that works in a Halloween playlist! Thankfully, Dangerous Toys make playing this game easy...once we get past our spooky news segment, we start off with Jason McMaster's former project, Watchtower, and a song from their only record with him, "Asylum"! Then we make our way into the band that we all know him for, and after watching the "Scared" video, we also catch "Bones in the Gutter" from the same debut album, "Demon Bell" from their contribution to the Wes Craven's "Shocker" soundtrack, we go to 1994's "Pissed" and let things get a little "Strange" before we finish our tour of the Toys' catalog with a listen to "Monster Man" from 1995's "The R*tist 4*merly Known as Dangerous Toys" record. This episode is full of carnival sounds, costumes, finding ways to keep talking about "No More Tears", and spooky ooky things! We even finish you off with Fastway's "Trick-or-Treat". It's time to clown around! Take mommy's lace and the whiskey off the top shelf, rent yourself some spiders, snakes, and rats, and don't forget to allow your hair to dry without a dedicated part! Happy Halloween, first week of October style! Watch video of our discussion, as well as the video clips and pictures we reference on the show along with us, on Patreon!
