Kiko Loureiro is a Brazilian Grammy award winning heavy metal guitarist, best known as a member of the bands Angra and Megadeth. His new solo album "Theory Of Mind" is a tour de force of strong melodies, incendiary guitar playing, and great arrangements!  Alongside his band Angra, he has released eight studio albums, received two gold records, and is considered one of the most important Brazilian musicians of all time. His solo career started with the album "No Gravity". His second album was "Universo Inverso", recorded in only three days, featuring some of the best jazz musicians in Latin America. Three years later, Kiko released, "Fullblast" , a heavy and progressive piece. In 2008 he also presented his fusion project: Neural Code, in which the band explores rock and jazz, fueled with Brazilian rhythms. "Sounds of Innocence", his fourth solo album, was released in 2012, combining metal, jazz and Brazilian rhythms. Jesse Starcher, Robert Cooper, Mik Wanamaker and Mark Radulich present their MSlipknot 25th Anniversary Self Titled 2024 Album Review as part of the MHOD Jukebox!Slipknot is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, former vocalist Anders Colsefni and bassist Paul Gray. After several lineup changes in its early years, the band settled on nine members for more than a decade: Crahan, Gray, Joey Jordison, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root. Slipknot is well known for its attention-grabbing image, aggressive style of music, and energetic and chaotic live shows.The band rapidly rose to fame following the release of their eponymous debut album in 1999. The 2001 follow-up album, Iowa, although darker in tone, made the band more popular. In a pre-MP3 and CD era, vinyl full-albums abounded in Christian bookstores and at local record stores. It's 1986, and today's guest, Michael Sweet, and his band Stryper ("by His stripes, you are healed.." Isaiah 53:5) just released their album To Hell With the Devil. It's about to sell millions in both Christian and secular markets, with its songs all over the radio, and music videos on MTV. Host, Joey Svendsen was in the 4th grade, but found that Stryper album at Family Christian Bookstore and it turned his life upside-down, resulting in music exploration being a full-blown hobby.Stryper was no different than the other "metal band greats," like Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and Poison. From impeccable songwriting to catchy melodies and shredding guitars, Stryper was on top of their game. The things that separated them from the rest was their motivation to spread the gospel of Jesus and their song lyrics that matched that passion.Joey talks to Michael Sweet about the early days of Stryper, the hair and make-up culture of the 80s metal scene, and why Michael had to walk away to get healthy and prioritize God and family.
