Jimi Hendrix-Electric Ladyland (Reprise in the US) U.S. Release Date: October 1968 Electric Ladyland was the third and final studio album by the Jimi Hendrix Experience and the most ambitious statement of Hendrix's career. A sprawling double album produced solely by Hendrix, it showcased his growing artistic independence and his willingness to push beyond the boundaries of rock music. Blending blues, psychedelia, jazz, funk, soul, and studio experimentation, the album featured classics such as “Crosstown Traffic,” “All Along the Watchtower,” and “Voodoo Child (Slight Return),” while longer works like “1983… (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)” demonstrated his fearless creativity. Though some critics initially found the record overly expansive, its reputation has only grown with time. Electric Ladyland reached No. 1 in the United States and remains one of the defining albums of the rock era. More than a guitar showcase, it expanded the possibilities of the recording studio and cemented Hendrix as one of popular music's greatest innovators.

It is time to start Justice League Unlimited season 2. This season we are covering 2 eps at a time. Tonight it is "The Cat and The Canary" and "The Ties That Bind." Black Canary is on mission taking down bad guys, but her back-up, Wildcat is not there to help.  She finds out he is bored on the Watchtower and with training heroes.  He wants action. He has become addicted to the fight and the fame of cage fighting super villains. Canary enlists Green Arrow to help track Wildcat down and get him out. They begin their flirtatious dance that will lead to them being a couple. But the road is rocky.  Canary and Arrow find the fight den, but Canary must agree to fight Wildcat and win to get him to leave.  GA knocks her out and fights Wildcat. Wildcat seemingly kills Green Arrow. But it was a trick. Wildcat is snapped out of it and they take down the arena. In the second story Mister Miracle and Big Barta are working on a escape routine to make money. Granny Goodness steps in and takes their mentor Oberon to Apokolips. The husband-and-wife duo know they are not enough to bring Granny down. She wants to use them to win control of the planet from Vundabar.  They ask for help from the League but get shut down my Manhunter. Flash agrees to help the.  The 3 must navigate The Pitt, Granny's chamber of horrors for producing her warriors.  They free Kalibak and with Manhunter's help free Oberon. This echoes the UK's failed Rwanda scheme, and Trump's existing deals with South Sudan, Eswatini, the Democratic Republic of Congo and more. It also unlocks expansive budgets for surveillance, detention and deportation. This money is likely to end up enriching the same corporations underpinning ICE raids in the US, and notorious migrant containment camps such as Australia's Nauru. Traffickers and smugglers often make headlines for profiteering off the refugee crisis, but the corporate industry that has grown up around it goes largely invisible in our news. These companies are paid billions of taxpayer dollars - not to tackle the roots causes of displacement, but to keep it away from wealthy countries' shores. But is what they're doing even working? How much public money is being directed away from essential services to feed the deportation machine? And what about the human cost? In this episode, Mathilda and Helena are joined by Sudanese refugee Mahamat Daoud, a survivor of EU-funded Libyan detention and the 2022 massacre at the Melilla-Nador border between Morocco and Spain. He describes what 'migrant deterrence' looks like up-close, and why it didn't work on him. Read transcriptLook, at some point you have to respect the audacity of putting the entire Justice League on a Game Boy Advance cartridge. Not one hero. Not two heroes doing a buddy-cop thing. The whole league. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the works. All crammed onto a handheld that also had to share shelf space with Hamtaro games. That's ambition. That's vision. That might also be a cry for help, but we're not here to judge. Justice League Chronicles was Ubisoft's love letter to the animated series, which means it had genuinely great source material to pull from and a screen roughly the size of a Post-it note to work with. The Justice League animated series was the kind of show that made you sit down and watch it with your kids because it was actually that good, and somehow that energy had to survive the trip to a device that ran on two AA batteries. Here to help make sense of it all is Doug Adamson from The Monitor Tapes, a man whose podcast is literally named after the thing the Justice League uses to watch for trouble. Which means he was cosmically destined to appear on this episode whether he wanted to or not. In this episode, we meet Genesis, a 31-year-old former Jehovah's Witness who shares her journey from a high-control upbringing to finding authentic peace. Born into the organization after her grandmother was recruited during a time of extreme grief in 1960s Cuba, Genesis describes a childhood dominated by "fear and anxiety" regarding the impending apocalypse. She details the devastating impact of the organization's shunning policy, which saw her 16-year-old brother cast out and his parents told to "pretend he died," leaving Genesis as the "replacement child" under intensified surveillance and bizarre modesty rules involving everything from sandals to jean shorts in swimming pools. Genesis also opens up about her early marriage to a "JW dream man"—a relationship born more out of a desire for escape than true compatibility—and the subsequent institutional betrayal she faced when he cheated. From being pressured by elders to "forgive and forget" his infidelity to the "miraculous" relief she felt upon walking away during the COVID-19 pandemic, her story is a masterclass in reclaiming agency. Today, she deconstructs the toxic narrative that success outside the cult is merely a "blessing from Satan," proving instead that true happiness comes from the hard work of self-care and autonomy. In this episode, we sit down with Sara, a 40-year-old third-generation former Jehovah's Witness who shares a raw and revealing look at the cost of high-control religious living. Sara describes an upbringing defined by the heavy influence of her grandfather, a prominent elder who provided a sense of "structure" and "safety" until his death when Sara was a young teenager. Following his passing, Sara witnessed her family's transition from "hero" status to "villains" in the eyes of the congregation after an uncle was jailed for child abuse, exposing the fickle nature of the "brotherhood" and the organization's priority of appearance over the well-being of its members. So you've been hacked… Now what?!

Jesus can easily be relegated in our minds to specific areas of our lives or in popular art. We see depictions of him in paintings, music, and films. But, Jesus is more real and more present to us than any artistic representation can reproduce. This blogcast explores “Jesus Alive: Encountering the Truth of Christ" from the Ad Infinitum blog, written by Brady Baylis and read by Jonathan Harrison.I think there is something special about a cover—about taking a song, a painting, or a movie and recreating it within the modern frame of mind. Aretha Franklin's bold and unapologetic “Respect” is a perfect example, as she interprets the song as a Black woman in the 1960's. As is Jimi Hendrix's “All Along the Watchtower,” in which he narrates the song with hauntingly beautiful guitar riffs. In visual art, Andy Warhol recreates the portrait of Mao Zedong with a messy array of bright colors—an unusual depiction of the dictator. Finally, modern movies, headlined by the Cohen Brothers' True Grit, give life to old characters and stories, recreating them for new audiences.However, even the Beatles, the most covered band of all time, cannot compete with the millions of interpretations of Jesus Christ. Thousands of artists have painted Christ crucified or the Madonna and Child. Everyone from Van Gogh, Basquiat, or da Vinci have painted Jesus Christ, each in their own manner. It can be mind-numbing to try to flip through them all, viewing each painting, alien to the others, and, oftentimes, to us. There are always two questions to ask when discussing art: “What is this artist trying to say?” and “What do we think he or she is trying to say?”These questions matter much more when investigating faith. In a special way, how artists of all disciplines—including sculptors, writers, or directors—interpret Jesus will affect us. Every Catholic, no doubt, thinks of Jesus through some piece of art or another, but Jesus is more than just a collection of paints, words, or images. Jesus is alive. It is tempting to trap Him in a Caravaggio, an El Greco, or even in the Passion of the Christ—to prevent Him from challenging us. Jesus as represented in art cannot call us out in our sins; He cannot tell us the hard truths we need to wrestle with. Even further, we should not trap Jesus in the Church or solely in the Mass. Yes, we are oftentimes challenged in specific ways during the Mass, especially when a priest gives a difficult homily. It can be easy, however, to selectively hear the priest, interpreting him and hearing only what we want to hear. We often want a sanitized Jesus, one that affirms us and makes us feel good. But while Jesus resides in the tabernacle and comes to meet us in every celebration of the Eucharist, He cannot be left there. Jesus wants to encounter us personally in order for us to help others encounter Him.Jesus always challenged His disciples to worship, act, and believe in accordance with truth. Jesus was not “sanitized” or acting in the “proper way” when He overturned the tables of the money changers; He was not “sanitized” when He described the narrow way; and He surely was not clean and tidy when He died on the Cross. Jesus defied our expectations. He was filled with passion for God's truth. While He is Beauty itself, Jesus often made His listeners look away as they were unable to embrace the unsavory truth that can be hard to swallow.I enjoy going to Washington's National Gallery of Art or New York's MET, but next time I see Christ there, I will be reminded that He is not trapped in the golden walls of the frame. Jesus is alive, living in the Eucharist and in others. While it is beautiful to witness Jesus in the arts, we must remember that Christ lives in the audience, the museum goers. Biblical Christianity is not a religion built by councils, popes, prophets, publishing houses, temple ordinances, or denominational machinery. Biblical Christianity is the blood-bought faith once delivered unto the saints, anchored in the preserved words of God, centered on the Lord Jesus Christ, and sealed by the gospel of the grace of God. It begins with man as a lost, hell-bound sinner and ends with the only Saviour who can redeem him: Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, crucified, buried, risen again, and coming back. Everything else is either Bible truth or religious counterfeit. Today we compare biblical Christianty with the top 3 religious organizations to see how they stack up. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6 (KJB)What separates Biblical Christianity from every man-made system is that it does not ask the sinner to climb a ladder of works, sacraments, ordinances, priestcraft, church membership, or organizational obedience. It points him to a finished cross, an empty tomb, a risen Saviour, and an open Bible. The Roman system adds tradition and sacramental control; Mormonism adds another gospel and another authority; the Watchtower gives you another Jesus altogether. But the Bible gives you Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone — “the way, the truth, and the life” — and no man cometh unto the Father, but by him.
