The Bald Prince and His Tall Knight Make Perfect Travel Companions This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl are talking about the new GOT spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. And Wonderman Episode 1. All this and… some Brandon Sanderson news. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 Sanderson: 8:45 Wonderman: 19:00 Dunk & Egg: 35:07 Brandon Sanderson's Literary Fantasy Universe ‘Cosmere' Picked Up by Apple TV (Exclusive) https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/brandon-sandersons-mistborn-stormlight-archive-movie-tv-1236487271/ Wonderman (Disney+) Episode 1 – “Matinee” (Premiere) Episode 1 introduces us to Simon Williams (played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a struggling actor and stuntman whose career is in a tailspin. After being fired from a TV role and dumped by his girlfriend, Simon is at a crossroads. When he runs into Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), a fellow actor with an eccentric reputation, he learns Slattery is auditioning for a remake of the classic superhero film Wonder Man — a movie Simon loved as a kid and which inspired him to pursue acting in the first place. Simon pushes for a shot at the role, but his agent refuses. Undeterred, he somehow lands an audition alongside Slattery anyway. Slattery gives him advice that helps him make an impression. Meanwhile, Department of Damage Control agent P. Cleary secretly contacts Slattery with instructions to watch Simon closely because he might have actual superpowers, tying Simon's acting ambitions to real-world MCU stakes. This episode sets up two parallel arcs: Simon's Hollywood hustle and dream of stardom, and the hint that he may be more than just an actor, potentially linking him to actual superhero abilities and the broader Marvel universe. Tone-wise, Episode 1 blends industry satire, comedy, and superhero setup, spotlighting the absurdities of Hollywood while weaving in classic MCU connective tissue. Ratings: Out of 5 Here’s a Note For You… Get Out Darryl: 3.75/5 Brian: 3.8/5 A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (HBO Max) Episode 1 – “The Hedge Knight” This premiere introduces Dunk (Ser Duncan the Tall) and Egg (the boy who becomes his squire), setting up the tone and stakes for the series. It takes place about 100 years before Game of Thrones and focuses on a smaller-scale story full of character and humor rather than sweeping war and politics. Here's what happens: Dunk buries his mentor, Ser Arlan of Pennytree, and takes his sword, shield, and three horses as he heads toward the Ashford tourney, hoping to make his name and find work. At an inn, he meets a young bald boy who asks to be his squire. After initially refusing, Dunk ultimately accepts him and names the boy Egg. At Ashford, Dunk tries to enter the tournament but learns he needs someone reputable to vouch for him. He seeks out knights who knew Ser Arlan, but nobody will put their name on the line for a wandering hedge knight. Along the way we see the rough, earthy humor and grounded Westerosi world the show is leaning into (including some decidedly human moments missing from prior franchise entries). By the end, Dunk officially becomes Ser Duncan the Tall, and he and Egg share a moment under the stars, signaling the start of their journey together. Tone note: it's lighter and more character-focused than Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon, blending heartfelt moments with gritty, grounded humor. Episode 2 – “Hard Salt Beef” In the second episode, Dunk's quest to enter the Ashford tourney continues and the story expands slightly into the world's wider politics and personality. Key beats: Dunk spends much of the episode telling other knights about his mentor Ser Arlan, trying to get someone to vouch for him so he can compete, but keeps getting brushed off. Egg helps by pointing out the unfairness of Dunk needing permission when he's already a knight, showing how their dynamic is evolving. Members of House Targaryen arrive at the tourney — princes including Baelor, Maekar, and Aerion — and their presence adds weight to the event. Dunk overhears a conversation about missing Targaryen children and uses the moment (and a bit of boldness) to appeal directly to Prince Baelor to vouch for him. Baelor does remember Ser Arlan and, while not lavish in praise, quietly ensures Dunk's name is added to the tournament list. Dunk and Egg also start to settle more into the tourney rhythm — from watching performances to joining in games — as Dunk grapples with what legacy and honor really mean in this world. This episode deepens the relationship between Dunk and Egg, introduces more of Westeros's nobility (in a relatively casual, grounded way), and frames Dunk's struggles not just to fight but to matter. Quick Character & World Context Dunk and Egg are adapted from the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas by George R.R. Martin. The series is intentionally smaller in scale, focusing on relationships and the everyday lives of knights and squires rather than epic political wars or dragons. Don't forget to grab your free scripture journal at PrayingChristianWomen.com/journal today! Is prayer meant to be a monologue where we ask for things, or a genuine two-way conversation where God talks back? This week, Jennifer Slattery, host of the Faith Over Fear podcast, joins Jaime for an inspiring discussion on how to hear God's voice through the practice of interactive journaling. In this episode, Jennifer unpacks the practical steps of this relational tool, explaining how to move from an intellectualized faith to an emotional connection with the Father. She discusses the importance of releasing expectations and trusting God to speak on His terms—whether through Scripture, nature, or even, as her daughter experiences it, through calculus. Jennifer also shares her moving personal testimony of overcoming the shame of homelessness in her youth. She details a specific moment where she expected God’s condemnation but instead received a persistent, healing message of grace that aligned perfectly with Scripture. You’ll walk away with a fresh perspective on how to attune your ears to God's frequency, practical tips to start your own journaling habit, and the reassurance that God wants to connect with you just as much as you want to connect with Him. SEASON 2 - EPISODE 177 - James Slattery - Colourist In this extended episode of the Team Deakins Podcast, we speak with colourist James Slattery (THE LOST BUS, EMPIRE OF LIGHT, 1917). How does someone become a colourist? What do they really do? What is a CDL? DI? QC? DIT? P3? HDR? James, with whom we've worked with several times, graciously explains what all these acronyms (and more) mean, how a colourist generally goes about their work nowadays on any given project, and what he's able to do to help filmmakers solve problems and help realize their visions in the final stages of post-production. James has experience timing dailies and also applying the finishing grade, and he helps us explain the different responsibilities and expectations of each process. James later helps us provide an overview of the different types of deliverables for a film, and he shares some common mistakes young colorists today should avoid. Though the role of a colourist is technically and creatively demanding, James, throughout our conversation, stresses the importance of being able to work with others as a member of the team. - This episode is sponsored by Aputure

In this episode of The Broker Link, Gillan Boyer and Josh Slattery unpack the proposed CMS 2027 rule and what it could mean for agents, consumers, and the future of the insurance industry. The discussion highlights a clear shift toward deregulation, with several proposed changes aimed at reducing administrative burden while increasing flexibility for both agents and consumers. Key topics include updates to Special Enrollment Period (SEP) rules, allowing plan changes when providers leave a network, and the removal of the 12-hour delay between educational and marketing events. Gillan and Josh also break down proposals to shorten record retention requirements for call recordings, simplify TPMO disclaimers, and eliminate certain low-value compliance requirements. The conversation explores how these changes could give agents more time to focus on what evidence shows matters most — educating and serving clients. Additionally, the episode covers proposed updates to the Stars program and discusses the long-term impact of making IRA changes permanent, particularly regarding Part D cost structures. Overall, the proposed 2027 rule signals a meaningful shift in CMS's approach — one that industry professionals are cautiously optimistic about as it moves toward a more practical, agent-friendly regulatory environment. James Gilliland and Peter Maxwell Slattery have both established retreat centers that have become world renowned popular hubs for UFO sightings, extraterrestrial contacts and angelic interactions they and others have experienced. The many UFO sightings and contacts have been documented in thousands of videos and photographs taken at their respective retreats located in Mt Adams, Washington, USA and Carlyle near Albury Wodonga, Victoria, Australia. In this Exopolitics Today interview with Dr. Michael Salla, James and Peter describe the significance of 3I/Atlas in terms of it being a mirror for humanity's unresolved fears and hopes in establishing extraterrestrial contact. They emphasize the importance of achieving self-mastery before making contact to ensure one is only interacting with truly benevolent and enlightened beings rather than deceivers. James and Peter also respond to questions about covert government forces tracking and interfering with extraterrestrial contactees, and how they have communicated with high level officials within the covert government trying to understand what is happening at their respective retreat centers. Peter described experiences he has had with individuals associated with the “Collins Group” who believe all extraterrestrials are demonic deceivers, and he has attempted to educate them about benevolent extraterrestrial civilizations.   This week, we print big or go home. Bad at Sports cast their eyes to New York from the safe confines of the Chicago Architectural Biennial booth at EXPO 2025 to talk with the legendary Two Palms studio in the guise of Alex Slattery. If you've ever stood slack-jawed in front of a monoprint the size of a small car or a woodblock cut so large it needed its own logistics plan, chances are Two Palms was behind it. Since the 1990s, David Lasry and company have been redefining what printmaking can be—working with artists like Carroll Dunham, Elizabeth Peyton, Mel Bochner, Cecily Brown, Terry Winters, Chris Ofili, Dana Schutz, Richard Prince, Chuck Close, Jeff Koons, and yes, even channeling the ghost of Andy Warhol. From delicate gestures to total madness with ink and paper, the studio's collaborations are as unpredictable as they are radical. We talk risk, scale, failure, and discovery—the alchemy of artist–printer collaborations that make Two Palms a force in contemporary art. Along the way we wander through stories of impossible woodblocks, ink disasters turned into triumphs, and why printmaking might just be the most punk medium of them all. So pour a glass, sharpen your barens, and get ready to nerd out about the future of prints.   Two Palms https://www.twopalms.us/ @twopalmsnyc   Name-Drop  Carroll Dunham — https://www.presenhuber.com/artists/carroll-dunham#tab:slideshow Elizabeth Peyton — https://www.davidzwirner.com/artists/elizabeth-peyton Mel Bochner — http://www.melbochner.net/ Cecily Brown — https://gagosian.com/artists/cecily-brown/ Terry Winters —https://www.terrywinters.org/ Chris Ofili — https://www.davidzwirner.com/artists/chris-ofili/survey Dana Schutz — https://www.davidzwirner.com/artists/dana-schutz Richard Prince — http://www.richardprince.com/ Chuck Close — https://www.pacegallery.com/artists/chuck-close/ Jeff Koons — https://www.jeffkoons.com/ Two Palms — https://www.twopalms.us/ Marilyn Minter — https://www.twopalms.us/featured-works/marilyn-minter Stanley Whitney — https://www.twopalms.us/featured-works/stanley-whitney Ana Benaroya — https://www.twopalms.us/featured-works/ana-benaroya David Paul Lasry — https://www.nga.gov/artists/21067-david-paul-lasry Alex Slattery — https://www.instagram.com/alexslattery/ EXPO CHICAGO - https://www.expochicago.com/ Chicago Architectural Biennial 6 - https://chicagoarchitecturebiennial.org/ Institutions that love these prints: Whitney Museum of American Art — https://whitney.org/ MoMA — https://www.moma.org/ The Met — https://www.metmuseum.org/

Host Kate unpacks the details, implications, and what these shifts mean for advertisers, creators, and platforms heading into 2025. 5 Key Highlights: TikTok's U.S. operations are set to spin into a new company with majority American ownership (80%), including Oracle, Andreessen Horowitz, and Silver Lake, while ByteDance retains 20%. A new TikTok U.S. app is reportedly in testing, requiring users to migrate accounts, raising concerns about logins, content transfers, and algorithm performance. Rembrandt acquired Spaceback, adding scale with 3,000+ advertisers and expanding its AI-driven creative offerings to blend product placements with organic content. The merger reflects broader industry trends: AI-driven “intelligent creative,” creative functions shifting into buying platforms, and the blending of context with content. Index Exchange and Grace Note launched the first integration enabling show-level targeting and reporting in CTV, addressing long-standing transparency challenges for advertisers. IMI Launches 2025 National Leadership Conference to Help Irish Leaders Drive Growth and Lead Change

The Irish Management Institute (IMI) today announced the launch of the 2025 National Leadership Conference (NLC), taking place on Thursday, October 2nd at IMI's Sandyford campus, which will bring together Ireland's top business leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities of leading organisations in an era of heightened volatility and disruption. This year's NLC will focus on helping leaders move from insight to impact, develop key capabilities to navigate uncertainty, and position their organisations for long-term success. Former Editor-in-chief of the Economist, Bill Emmott, is to address the 2025 Irish Management Institute (IMI) National Leadership Conference on the critical role of leadership in driving transformation in an era of heightened volatility and disruption. As the AI transformation accelerates, speakers will offer insights on how decision makers can successfully harness the power of the technology in their business; developing an organisational culture of innovation that embraces change; and cultivating and leading high-performance teams. Keynote speakers at the event include Dómhnal Slattery, former CEO of Avolon, and Enda O'Coineen, Group CEO of the Business Post Group. Other speakers at the conference include Jennifer Melia, CEO of Enterprise Ireland, Alice Mansergh, CEO at Tourism Ireland, Joe Heneghan, CEO at Revolut Europe, and Emma Redmond, General Counsel & Head of OpenAI Ireland. Commenting on the event launch, Shane O'Sullivan, CEO of the IMI, said: "Irish business leaders are navigating a highly complex environment, shaped by global volatility, a tightening domestic economy, and the accelerating pace of technological change. In this climate, it's all too easy to become consumed by immediate pressures and lose sight of the bigger picture. But long-term success depends on leaders keeping their focus on future growth, building the capabilities to adapt, and seizing opportunities even in uncertain times. "At IMI, we see that many leaders already have the insights - the real challenge lies in turning those insights into tangible impact. The National Leadership Conference is an important forum bringing together Ireland's leadership community that can help to forge the capabilities for current and future success. IMI research shows that while most leaders are aware of the key challenges facing their organisation, many are finding it difficult to identify and put in place the capabilities and strategies to overcome these obstacles and drive growth. "With an impressive line-up of national and international industry leaders, this year's conference will give Ireland's decision makers the tools to sharpen their capabilities, navigate uncertainty with confidence, and unlock future growth." What does it really mean to surrender your sexuality to Jesus? In this powerful conversation, Dr. Carol talks with clinical psychologist, author, and co-founder of Authentic Intimacy Dr. Juli Slattery, about the deeper layers of Christian sexual discipleship. Too often, the church focuses only on behavior, but true transformation goes far beyond rule-keeping. It's about identity, intimacy, and bringing the most vulnerable parts of ourselves into relationship with God for Him to heal and transform. Dr. Slattery unpacks the difference between sex and intimacy, and why our deepest sexual struggles are often rooted in wounds, lies, or unmet longings. Whether you're facing shame from the past, stuck in patterns of sinful behavior, or wrestling with disconnection in your relationships, this episode offers hope, and a path forward. Surrendering your sexuality to Jesus isn't just about saying “no” to sin; it's about saying “yes” to a whole, healed, and intimate life with Him. Think bootleg Canadian pharmacies, early Google Ads, and cracked versions of Adobe software. One of his first official clients was a skincare brand called Spa Technologies, which he charged $300 a month to handle “all the web stuff”—from email and SEO to advertising and site updates. He even landed a local government gig in New York early (back when procurement was a little less formal). It wasn't glamorous, but it was enough to plant the seed for what would eventually become his agency. Eventually, Collin took the boutique route. He leaned into complex client problems and bespoke solutions, found his zone of genius, and grew from there. Hiring Red Flags During the Sales Process One of the most expensive lessons agency owners learn, and one Collin has relearned, is ignoring red flags during the sales process. It's amazing how anyone can forget to trust their gut when they need the money, but Collin has learned this lesson by now. From clients with unreasonable expectations who ghost meetings to those who show up late or treat your time like it's optional, he has learned to put a limit. Today, he waits five minutes—max—for a prospect to join a call. If they don't show, he's out. Because if someone doesn't respect your time on the sales call, they're definitely not going to respect your process, boundaries, or team later on. The biggest red flag for Collin is clients who offload all responsibility. If they're promising to be your “best client ever” or insisting they'll deliver everything you need “right away,” it's worth digging deeper. Of course, clients who are too involved can also be a problem. However, the agency can't be more invested than they are in their own success. To prevent this, establish a pricing structure where at least 50% of the project is paid upfront, with clear dates for the remaining payments.. This can help irresponsible clients get moving on what they're supposed to deliver, although Jason shares a story about a client who paid 100% upfront (before kickoff!) but delayed the project by not providing what was promised. That's why process and payment timelines matter. If you don't control scope and expectations from day one, you'll pay for it in time, profit, and sanity. When One Bad Hire Derails Everything Collin's been on both ends of the hiring spectrum—over-prioritizing skill and under-prioritizing culture fit… then swinging the other way and hiring people he liked without checking if they actually had the skills. Spoiler: Neither approach worked. On top of that, he's been guilty of stubbornly keeping people too long, thinking he could “fix” them. However, he's now confident that owners can usually know on Day 1 if they made the wrong hire. Week 1 if you're generous. People usually start with their best foot forward, so if that's shaky, it's a red flag. The real game-changer was learning to trust his gut early and cut things off quickly—for everyone's sake. Hiring Friends? Set Very Clear Expectations Should you hire friends or family? Most agency owners will say no—and Collin would've agreed… until one friend hire actually worked out. There were many factors that contributed to this, including expectations, where the agency is at, and the person's character. The first time he hired his best friend, it was a disaster. The second time, it was a former mentee who had already sold his own agency, knew the ropes, and was a perfect culture fit. They were open, direct, and mutually respectful—and it worked. The lesson? If you do go down the friend/family road, set clear expectations, give both parties an exit ramp, and value the friendship above the business if things go sideways. The Secret to Real Growth: Do Less of What You Hate According to Collin, delegation and self-awareness are the great drivers of his agency's success. He focused on hiring people to do the things he was either bad at or dreaded doing—even if he was good at them, because chances are someone else loves the stuff you hate doing. That mindset shift allowed Collin to get laser-focused on what he does best—sales, marketing, and solving complex “math problems” for e-commerce clients. Now he wakes up looking forward to work instead of dreading it. When a Big Client Bails, Your Margins Matter More Than Ever Recently, Collin's agency lost its biggest client temporarily due to the pressures of the new tariffs. Instead of panic, his response was grounded and strategic. He's built his agency to survive losses like this and encourages agency owners to do the same, by thinking about pricing, hiring, and not sabotaging your own sales engine. Thanks to this mindset, the agency had healthy profit margins baked in. If losing one client sends you into a tailspin, you're probably not charging enough. You need to build your business in a way that you can survive losses without cutting down. That's not just about pricing—it's about operating with margin as a mindset. One of the biggest mistakes agency owners make is hitting pause on sales because things feel good. Collin's advice is to always be selling. And if capacity is tight, don't pause—raise your prices. Pro tip: Implement a sliding scale strategy. Every few clients, bump your pricing and track retention. You might find that you're working less for more. Want to Grow Fast? Hire Ahead of the Demand Let's talk about one of the hardest lessons agency owners learn: hiring too late. Collin admitted he brought on clients he couldn't serve well—and paid the price in churn and stress. This year, he's trying a different strategy by hiring ahead of the demand. And not just anyone—hire senior people. Yes, it's a luxury. But it's also how you buy back your time and protect your client relationships. Junior hires sound good on paper—cheap, trainable, full of potential. But they require time and energy you may not have. As Collin explains, the real value of a senior hire is autonomy because they can own it from day one. ”At the end of the day, if you don't build margin into your agency, one bad month can wipe you out.” Do You Want to Transform Your Agency from a Liability to an Asset? If you're a wife who loves God and loves your husband, but you're wondering… Why don't I want sex? Why does my husband want it more than I do? Am I broken for not desiring intimacy? …you're in the right place. We want to remind you that you are not broken. You're not alone. And God isn't disappointed in you. In this conversation, we sit down with the incredible Dr. Juli Slattery—clinical psychologist, author of 14 books, and founder of Authentic Intimacy—to talk about real struggles Christian wives face around intimacy, low desire, and how to walk toward healing with God's help. What Causes Low Sex Drive in Christian Wives? This is one of the most common issues I hear from women: "My husband wants it more. I feel bad. I don't know why I don't want it. Help." Dr. Slattery shares that many wives don't have a lower drive—just a different kind. Men typically have what's called an initiating drive, while women often have a responsive drive. That means she doesn't feel desire until after closeness begins. That's normal! But sometimes, low desire is more complex. Some deeper causes may include: Past sexual trauma (even from within marriage) Body image issues and insecurity Pain during sex or hormonal changes (like menopause) A lack of emotional safety or unresolved conflict Shame from upbringing or purity culture Misunderstandings about what sex is really for Often, it's not one thing—it's several. That's why this isn't a quick fix. It's a journey of healing and understanding. And most importantly—it's not your fault. What Does God Say About Sex in Marriage? We often assume a great sex life just means "compatibility." But as Juli beautifully shared: "Great sex isn't about compatibility. It's about growing in unselfish love." And that's biblical. God designed marriage and sexual intimacy to reflect His covenant love: faithful, intimate, sacrificial, and joy-filled. When we chase after that picture—His heart for sex—it brings healing, safety, and even delight. Here are the 4 pillars of covenant sex that Juli teaches: Faithfulness – Can your spouse trust you emotionally and physically? Intimate Fellowship – Are you open with each other in heart and spirit? Sacrificial Love – Are you serving each other instead of demanding? Passionate Celebration – Is sex a space for joy and rejoicing? "I Want to Want Sex… But I Don't." What Should I Do? If that's your heart cry, there's hope. Juli and I walked through several gentle, practical steps to help you move forward: 1. Pray—Every Day Invite God into this part of your life. Juli prayed for months before even telling her husband. God cares. He will meet you here. 2. Start with What You Do Want Maybe you don't want intercourse—but you'd like to cuddle. Or feel safe naked. Or be able to enjoy touch again. That's a great start. 3. Change the Inner Narrative Rather than thinking, "I have to," begin gently rehearsing, "I want to enjoy closeness. I want to connect with the man I love." 4. Use Physical Support Tools like organic lubricants, non-intercourse intimacy, or vibrators (with agreement) can be helpful. Give yourself permission to explore. 5. Communicate with Your Husband If he's safe, loving, and kind—invite him into this healing journey with you. Let him support your heart, not just seek pleasure. But Isn't It Selfish to Focus So Much on Sex? That's a valid concern—especially for Christians. But here's what Juli shared that really struck me: "God designed sex to bless both husband and wife. This isn't just about serving him—it's about your healing, too." Sex is not just physical. It's emotional. Spiritual. It touches the most tender parts of our story. If you're avoiding it completely, it might be time to gently ask: What wounds need healing? What lies am I believing? This is not about becoming a sex expert—it's about becoming whole. A Christian Wife's Invitation to Intimacy Whether you've been married 3 years or 30, God's not done with this part of your journey. Even if sex has been painful, shame-filled, or complicated… He can redeem it. Even if you feel distant, numb, or uninterested… He can awaken new joy. You're not "less than." You're not "too late." You're not "too much." You're beloved. And intimacy can become a gift again. Resources to Help You Begin If today's blog stirred something in you, we'd like to encourage you to take one step forward.
