Willie Hen is a San Francisco rapper who is highly respected for his lyricism and authenticity, even without a solo album. Growing up in the Fillmore, he started off as a member of a group called Do Or Die before becoming affiliated with San Quinn and Messy Marv and forming their collective The Network. After a song with producer Tone Capone caught the attention of hip-hop legend Scarface, they became a group along with Young Malice called The Product. One of Willie's verses ended up becoming The Source magazine's Hip-Hop Quotable of the month. Although he continues to put out mixtapes, features, and collaborations, he also transitioned to acting with a role in the film "The Last Black Man In San Francisco."--For promo opportunities on the podcast, e-mail: info@historyofthebay.com--History of the Bay Spotify Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3ZUM4rCv6xfNbvB4r8TVWU?si=9218659b5f4b43aaOnline Store: https://dregsone.myshopify.com Follow Dregs One:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1UNuCcJlRb8ImMc5haZHXF?si=poJT0BYUS-qCfpEzAX7mlAInstagram: https://instagram.com/dregs_oneTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@dregs_oneTwitter: https://twitter.com/dregs_oneFacebook: https://facebook.com/dregsone41500:00 Intro02:40 Fillmoe history12:42 Street life17:05 FIllmoe's rap legacy23:47 Early groups28:46 The Network w/ Messy Marv & San Quinn37:43 Done Deal Ent.40:36 The Izm50:07 The Product with Scarface1:04:13 Mac Dre1:10:17 The Last Black Man in San Francisco1:14:34 Solo album?
History of the Bay Podcast Ep. 62: Growing up in Berkeley, One Drop Scott has been a musician his entire life. His journey into the arts starts with his father, blaxploitation actor Thalmus Rasulala. Once he picked up his first instruments, Scott began playing with legends like Sheila E and Confunkshun. He got into hip-hop early, forming a group called the Surf MC's with fellow Berkeley producer Tone Capone. Scott soon began producing for some of Northern California's most legendary rappers like Mac Dre, C-Bo & The Jacka. After being viciously attacked in 2003, he survived a one-month coma due to his desire to continue making music. To this day Scott continues to produce for rappers, play in bands, and tour the world. -- Sponsored by Stem Social https://stemsocial.io https://instagram.com/stem.social Also sponsored by Lost Soul Courier Collective - call or text (415) 275-1922 for free Narcan delivery in San Francisco https://lostsoulcouriercollective.org For more info contact @traceyh415 -- For promo opportunities on the podcast, e-mail: historyofthebaypodcast@gmail.com -- Produced by DEO @deo415, videography by @mvp_kingced --- History of the Bay Spotify Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3ZUM4rCv6xfNbvB4r8TVWU?si=9218659b5f4b43aa Online Store: https://dregsone.myshopify.com Follow Dregs One: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1UNuCcJlRb8ImMc5haZHXF?si=poJT0BYUS-qCfpEzAX7mlA Instagram: https://instagram.com/dregs_one TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@dregs_one Twitter: https://twitter.com/dregs_one Facebook: https://facebook.com/dregsone415 --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/historyofthebay/support

Special Features are back with another isolation episode in quick fire fashion! In this episode, we discuss and take a look at the film documentary - Memory: The Origins Of Alien. The documentary, released in 2019, explores the origins of Ridley Scott's Alien and his works on the Alien franchise. The documentary includes original story notes, rejected designs and storyboards, exclusive behind the scenes footage and screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's original 29 page script of Memory, which was the starting point for the Alien film script. The documentary takes us on the path in the lead up and the making of the Alien film and explores the talents of screenwriter Dan O'Bannon, Film Director Ridley Scott and Visionary Artist H.R Giger, and their once in a lifetime collaboration that made Alien one of the best science fiction horror films and franchises of all time. Lookout for H.P Lovecraft, Francis Bacon, the Greek Furies and producer Walter Hill, the film's producer that decided to pass on directing Alien, in favour of the film Southern Comfort, which a solid film, but is no Alien. So sit back, relax and enjoy the episode, brought to be Stan who are streaming the doco at the moment, and let's not forget JB HI FI as well......just kidding!
