Meet Captain Content & Kevin in the pit again this week for a hella good time! We're getting our aggressions out by revisiting the starting point of it all for Kevin. The thrash, crossover, speed metal movement of the 80s spawned his love of all things rock n' punk n' metal. This time around the circle pit, we are focusing on Crossover Thrash. A sub-genre defined as short bursts of hardcore punk with metal guitar riffing. This was perfect skateboarding music, which intertwined with the Sk8 subculture in the 80s and 90s. Hope ya have a slammin' good time with this one! What is it that we do here at InObscuria? We exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. In this episode we explore all things mosh-worthy! This is real metal, people. All hail the speed and delightful absurdity of Crossover Thrash! Our hope is that we turn you on to something new. Songs this week include: Corrosion Of Conformity – “Positive Outlook” from Animosity(1985) Crumbsuckers – “Charge” from Beast On My Back (1988) Chained Saint – “Dark Side Of The Cross” from Blindside (2024) The Accüsed – “Grinning Like An Undertaker” from Grinning Like An Undertaker (1990) Cro-Mags – “Life Of My Own” from The Age Of Quarrel (1986) No Warning – “Unreality” from Torture Culture (2017) Beowülf – “Get The Grind” from Lost My Head… But I'm Back On The Right Track (1988) Prong – “Forgery” from Force Fed (1988) M.O.D. – “Dead Men / Most / Captain Crunch” from U.S.A. Chad and Alex are back for another Breakin' It Down, and this one's got range. Alex just got back from Cancun for a destination wedding, an all-inclusive, way too much drinking, and a hydrotherapy routine that may or may not have been medically necessary. Chad's got the sauna fired up at home, and they swap recovery war stories. They dive into Moms on the run, almost three decades, $10 million back into Northern Nevada, one salaried employee, and a Sunday stroll on Mother's Day through the Damonte Ranch wetlands. Chad and Alex are fired up about it and it's a cause worth hearing about! Somewhere in the middle, they get into Reno. From the homeless problem, the city permits, the politics, to GNR, Alice in Chains, The Band, Van Halen, Motley Crue, and a band name quiz. It's one of those episodes where you look up and an hour has gone by. We hope you enjoy! This episode is presented by Bedslide, Leer toppers, Oakley Sunglasses, GATR coolers, TKO Vitality, ZLine Appliances, Jack Link's Protien snacks, Napa Valley Olive Oil, and The Provider Culinary
This week, Sean and Todd welcome back one of the show's most beloved guests — Tracy from Voices by Tracy. A bilingual voice actor based out of Montreal, Tracy holds the record for most appearances on SeanGeek and FastFret, and this episode proves exactly why. What starts as a trip down memory lane quickly becomes one of the most wide-ranging, heartfelt, and laugh-out-loud episodes the show has ever produced. We dive deep into the music that shaped a generation — Chilliwack, Headpins, Rush, Cinderella, Winger, Slaughter, Alice in Chains, Tesla, Triumph, and more — but this episode is about much more than music. It's about the friendships, the memories, and the moments that music soundtracks. This week we cover:The cassette tapes that started it all — how a Chevette, a tape deck, and a trip to Moncton shaped Todd's musical DNATracy's legendary street encounter with Kip Winger and Paul Taylor — and what happened when she opened her mouthThe night Beavis and Butt-Head killed Winger's career overnight — from sold-out shows to empty rooms in 48 hoursThe resurgence of hair metal — Monsters of Rock Cruise, Sebastian Bach and Slaughter coming to Winnipeg June 17thTim Kelly of Slaughter — a tribute to the guitarist lost too soonAlice in Chains covering Rush's Tears — and why Jerry Cantrell remains the most talked-about guitarist of the grunge eraWhale and Wasp from Jar of Flies — the instrumental that gets Sean every single timeThe seven year cellular theory — and what it has to do with relationships, reinvention, and finding yourselfTracy's story of rebuilding from the ground up during the pandemic — the three pillars that saved herSean's story of living in his car for two weeks after losing his marriage and job in the same week — and why he never told anyoneTodd's transformation — and why the smile says everythingThe Patreon tiers — Certified Geek ($5), True Geek ($10), Supreme Geek ($20), and yes, the legendary $75 Metal Shoppe song suggestion tierTracy does a live movie trailer voice for SeanGeek and FastFret — and absolutely nails itPass or Go: Cinderella's Once Around the Ride — Tracy says go. Moon Valjean is back from Vegas and somehow managed to visit casinos without gambling, which honestly sounds medically impossible. Instead, he spent his trip hunting down incredible local food, debating the meaning of rice pilaf, and discovering that Vegas off-strip dining prices now require a small business loan. The gang breaks down the bizarre sociology of weekday Vegas flights, why old people apparently own the city Monday through Wednesday, and how airplane emotions hit differently when you're watching a devastating movie at 30,000 feet while trying not to cry next to strangers. The crew get into a full-blown debate about airport etiquette, “Jetway Jesus,” and whether families with babies should board planes first or last. There's also discussion about the horrifying reality of airplane emergency cards, weird travel behavior, and one absolutely insane story involving a man getting onto an airport runway and being sucked into a plane engine. So yeah… maybe don't snack during that segment. The crew also dives into one of the greatest weird-news stories of the year: a guy throwing a rock at an endangered Hawaiian monk seal and immediately discovering that Hawaii does NOT play around. Enter: The Ambassador of Aloha — the unidentified local hero who allegedly beat the guy's ass so thoroughly that the entire community united to protect his identity like he's Batman in flip-flops. Federal charges, local pride, seal justice… this segment has everything.Elsewhere in the episode, the gang discusses Missouri turtle season, roadside turtle rescue etiquette, and why taking home a box turtle is apparently both illegal and a terrible life choice. Lern reveals her strange turtle friendship history, Rafe discusses leprosy armadillos, and somehow Sylvester Stallone's pet turtles from Rocky become part of the conversation because this show has fully abandoned traditional structure. Then comes the flip-flop war.A viral TikTok sparks one of the most passionate debates in recent Rizz Show history after a woman begs men to stop wearing flip-flops entirely. And because the Internet refuses to let humanity evolve peacefully, the crew also uncovers terrifying trends like “ball maxing” and “pheromone maxing” — including teenage boys intentionally refusing to shower in hopes their natural musk will attract women. Spoiler alert: it mostly attracts concern, bacterial buildup, and intervention from family members armed with buckets of water.Chelcie Lynn joins the gang in studio ahead of her sold-out Pageant show, and somehow within minutes the conversation turns into stories about cruise ship scandals, public indecency rumors, and tiny Gene Simmons impersonators allegedly becoming legends of the sea. Honestly? That sentence still undersells how weird this episode gets.Meanwhile, the Crap on Celebrities segment absolutely refuses to behave. The crew covers musicians getting hit with flying objects during concerts, stolen Beyoncé music, celebrity confessions that should've stayed private forever, and Sharon Osbourne allegedly prioritizing dogs over humans during a house fire. Normal morning show stuff. Then things somehow get emotional when Rizz tells the tragic story of Gary the fish — including a homemade strawberry-container coffin, a backyard funeral attempt, and one very unfortunate gust of wind. RIP Gary. You deserved better than becoming airborne.Chelsea Lynn stopped by before her sold-out Loose Lips tour show and immediately exposed the glamorous reality of touring comedy life: nobody's paying $500 for venue water bottles. The gang gets into dressing room riders, expensive catering, why comedians are apparently hauling their own snacks to venues, and how Moon would absolutely exploit tour rider loopholes strictly for fresh tube socks. Which honestly? Respect. Then the show completely derails into one of the greatest games we've ever played on the show: “Nickelback, Creed, or Alice In Chains.” Sounds easy until somebody starts reading lyrics without the music and suddenly every song sounds like a divorced stepdad screaming into a Monster Energy drink at 2AM.Also: if “Look at this photograph” activated sleeper-agent memories in your brain, we sincerely apologize.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.Mom Is Told Her Son Is ‘Pheromone Maxxing' After He Refused To Shower For 10 DaysThe Doctor Shortage Is Getting Worse. Today's comedy podcast starts exactly where all responsible adult conversations should: debating whether Mini Kiss is legally required to cause problems everywhere they go. Chelcie Lynn joins the gang in studio ahead of her sold-out Pageant show, and somehow within minutes the conversation turns into stories about cruise ship scandals, public indecency rumors, and tiny Gene Simmons impersonators allegedly becoming legends of the sea. Honestly? That sentence still undersells how weird this episode gets. The show also dives into the painful realization that streaming services have officially become cable TV again. Netflix is raising prices, stuffing ads everywhere, and somehow convincing all of us to keep paying anyway because we're emotionally dependent on documentaries about serial killers and reality dating disasters. The gang debates which streaming apps are worth keeping, why HBO Max somehow survives every budget cut, and why Temptation Island might be one of the greatest trash television achievements of modern civilization. This daily comedy show continues doing the important cultural analysis nobody requested.Chelcie Lynn also shares stories from life on tour, including trailer break-ins, life inside the world's most chaotic road vehicle, and why her legendary blue Tammy shorts are basically under federal protection at this point. There's also discussion about fans recognizing her as Trash Tammy everywhere she goes, how the character started, and the surprisingly wild connection between Tammy and Charlize Theron's character in Monster. That's right — somehow this comedy podcast accidentally became film analysis for a few minutes.Meanwhile, the Crap on Celebrities segment absolutely refuses to behave. RIP Gary. You deserved better than becoming airborne.Of course, no episode would be complete without absolute nonsense, so the gang wraps things up with a game where Chelcie Lynn tries to identify whether song lyrics belong to Creed, Nickelback, or Alice In Chains. Shockingly difficult. Mildly concerning. Deeply important radio. If you love a comedy podcast packed with weird news, sarcastic humor, celebrity chaos, cruise ship disasters, funny stories, and total daily show nonsense, this episode delivers all of it with the subtlety of Mini Kiss on open water.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShowHear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

What happens when a Division 1 football player walks away from the “safe path” and bets on a guitar, a stairwell, and a dream nobody could guarantee would work?In this powerful episode of the Apogee Strong Podcast, host Matt Beaudreau sits down with emerging rock artist Davey Allen to talk about discipline, resilience, consistency, and what it really takes to pursue a purpose-driven life.Davey shares his incredible journey from competing as a Division 1 football player at the University of Rhode Island to becoming one of the fastest-rising independent rock artists online. He opens up about the mental exhaustion that came with football, the emptiness of working jobs he hated, and how music became the outlet that reignited his passion and competitive drive. The conversation dives deep into the mindset behind success, the discipline required to build something from nothing, and how Davey's viral stairwell performances—including his unforgettable covers of Alice in Chains songs—changed his life forever.Davey also shares the story behind his original single “Monster,” the realities of the modern music business, the importance of networking, and why he believes consistency beats talent alone. If you are chasing a dream, building a business, pursuing a creative career, or trying to find purpose after sports or burnout, this episode will challenge and inspire you.Key Takeaways:Discipline from sports can transfer directly into entrepreneurship and music.Consistency and repetition matter more than overnight success.Success requires loving the process, not just the outcome. You must keep showing up even when nobody is watching.Quotes:“Anything you do requires hard work and discipline.”“You've got to love what you're doing or you're not going to succeed.”“Consistency and discipline—that's showing up every day.”“You kind of have to be a little delusional to chase something big.”Conclusion:Davey Allen's journey is proof that success rarely starts with certainty. It starts with discipline, consistency, and the willingness to keep showing up before anyone notices. From grinding through Division 1 football to recording stairwell covers that eventually reached millions online, Davey's story highlights what can happen when passion meets relentless effort. This episode is more than a conversation about music. It is about resilience, betting on yourself, embracing uncertainty, and staying committed to growth even when the outcome is unclear. Whether you are pursuing a creative career, building a business, or searching for purpose after burnout, Davey's mindset and work ethic offer a powerful reminder that progress comes one step, one rep, and one opportunity at a time.If you enjoyed this episode, make sure to follow the podcast, leave a review, and share this conversation with someone who needs encouragement to keep chasing their goals.About Davey AllenMeet Davey Allen, an emerging rock artist from Rochester, New York, known for his gritty powerhouse vocals, electric live performances, and authentic passion for music. Anécdotas y buen rollo: Las influencias metaleras del teclista argentino Juan, cómo engañaron a Vir para cantar Release Me y el proceso creativo natural que se respira en su local de ensayo. If you love band drama, vocal‑cord longevity contests, or hearing grown men argue about who can still hit the high notes, this round is your backstage pass.~~~~~~~Disclosure: I don't really have a house elf. Ann Wilson, the powerhouse voice behind the band Heart, is widely regarded as one of rock's greatest female vocalists. Born in 1950 in San Diego and raised in a military family that moved frequently, Ann found stability in music early on. Alongside her younger sister Nancy Wilson, she was inspired by seeing The Beatles perform in '66—a moment both sisters later described as life-changing. Ann began performing in local Seattle bands in the late '60s, developing a commanding vocal style rooted in rock, folk and blues. Nancy joined her a few years later, bringing a distinctive acoustic guitar style that perfectly complemented Ann's voice. Together, they formed the core of Heart, one of the first major rock bands fronted by women in a male-dominated industry. Their breakthrough came with the '75 album Dreamboat Annie, featuring hits like “Magic Man” and “Crazy on You,” both co-written by the sisters. The band's mix of hard rock and acoustic textures set them apart, and Ann's soaring vocals became their signature. Through the late '70s, songs like “Barracuda” showcased a tougher, more aggressive edge. The '80s brought a reinvention. After industry pressures and lineup changes, Heart adopted a more polished, radio-friendly sound, leading to massive hits such as “These Dreams” and “Alone.” Though some critics debated the shift, it brought the band renewed commercial success and global recognition. At the centre of Heart's story, however, has always been the relationship between Ann and Nancy—a bond that has been both creatively powerful and, at times, deeply strained. In their early years, the sisters were inseparable collaborators, writing and performing together with a near-telepathic musical connection. Ann has described Nancy as her “soulmate” in music, noting that they “finish each other's sentences musically.” But like many long-term creative partnerships—especially between siblings—their relationship has gone through periods of tension. Differences in artistic direction became more pronounced over time. A major rupture came in 2016 following a family incident involving Ann's husband and Nancy's children, which led to a temporary estrangement and effectively split the band into separate camps for a period. Even so, the sisters have repeatedly found their way back to each other, reconciling both personally and professionally. Their relationship has been described as elastic—capable of stretching under pressure but rarely breaking completely. Heart's longevity is remarkable. The band has sold more than 35 million records and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. Over the decades, Ann has also pursued solo work, including her 2018 album Immortal, and collaborations with artists like Alice in Chains. In more recent years, Ann has continued to evolve creatively. She relocated to Nashville, where she has embraced new musical influences and continued writing and recording. Despite health challenges—including surgery for cancer in 2024—she returned to performing, demonstrating the same resilience that has defined her entire career. Today, Ann Wilson remains an active and vital force in music. Heart has resumed touring, including major runs in 2024–2026, celebrating more than five decades of music. Ann continues to perform both with the band and in solo projects, while also collaborating with younger artists, ensuring her influence carries into new generations. Perhaps the most compelling aspect of Ann Wilson's story is not just her extraordinary voice, but the enduring, complicated bond with her sister Nancy. Through success, conflict, separation and reunion, their relationship has remained the emotional and creative engine of Heart. And as Ann herself has reflected, no matter the challenges, the connection between them has always been strong enough to bring them back together—on stage, where it matters most.
You Opened for Metallica. You Got MTV Airplay. So Why Does Nobody Know Your Name? The strange disappearance of Metal Church and The DarkThe Dark earned its place on the turntable the way all our episodes do: through community vote. It pulled 47% of combined Patreon and Substack poll votes, beating out Fastway, early Pantera, and Metallica to claim this week's dig. If you have an album you think deserves a closer listen, suggest it here and let the community decide. You toured with Metallica. You got MTV airplay. You peaked at #92 on the Billboard 200. So how does an album just disappear?Metal Church released The Dark in October 1986, opened for Metallica on tour, and landed Watch the Children Pray in MTV rotation. They had every ingredient for a breakthrough. And yet, most people who love 80s metal have never heard a note of this record. This week Jason, Tim, and Chip work through all eight tracks, argue about whether the second half holds up, and make the case for David Wayne as one of the most underrated vocalists in the genre. They also dig into the band's origins in the Bay Area thrash scene, their move to the Pacific Northwest, Terry Date's early engineering work, and the real (and fictional) connections to Metallica.Highlights: what makes Ton of Bricks the perfect opener (23:00), the Queensrÿche-ish shading in Watch the Children Pray (19:44), the Lars Ulrich rumor and how Vanderhoof debunked it (33:14), and the honest case that the second half sags (35:16).

Welcome to this week's episode of Trve. Cvlt. Pop! We hope you enjoy it. We're pretty sure you will, as this week Steve nad Gaz are joined by Pop, Collaborate & Listen's Dave Fensome to celebrate 30 year's since Alice in Chains recorded their now legendary MTV Unplugged session. From the troubles the band faced getting their shit together in the mid-90's; drug issues, the lack of touring, their fractured relationship with the press and each other, you'd have thought it almost impossible that Alice in Chains would be able to rework some of their finest ever material into the acoustic format. But on the 10th of April 1996 at the Majestic Theatre in Brooklyn, they did exactly that. Little did we know it would mark the end of the classic line up of the band, and a swansong from frontman Layne Stayley, and go on to be spoken about as once of the greatest ever live music broadcasts in history. We go through the entire story, from the troubles getting it made to the tragic aftermath, and give our take, track by track, of the entire performance. There's also chat about new music from Thundercat, Of the Trees, Slayyyter, The Scratch and The Math Rock Clangers... I mean Angine de Poitrine and live reports on President and Ignite.
Jason and Paul celebrate 300 epiosdes by welcoming back King Ultramega and Metal Allegiance founder Mark Menghi and Alice In Chains frontman William DuVall to the show. They discuss their collaborations across both KU and MA with the tracks "Rusty Cage" and "Black Horizon" respectively. Then the guys talk about collaborating, egos, seeking vulnerability and truth in the music making process and the inspirational organism that is the live music experience. It's a hell of a conversation. This week I wanted to stick with movies that came out with soundtracks that felt current when the films were released. Not older songs brought in to set a mood, and not a random collection pulled together afterward, but albums that felt tied to the moment the studio was trying to sell.Fast Times at Ridgemont High, from 1982, is a good example. The soundtrack album came out that July, and Jackson Browne's “Somebody's Baby” reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, so the movie clearly had a connection to what people were hearing at the time. There was also some push and pull behind the scenes. Amy Heckerling later said some of the music choices reflected producer pressure as much as her own sense of the characters, which only makes the film feel more like a real snapshot of the early 1980s.Purple Rain, from 1984, is an even stronger case, because the movie and soundtrack are almost impossible to separate. The album came out on June 25, 1984. “When Doves Cry” was released in May, and “Let's Go Crazy” followed in July, so the film reached theaters with Prince already dominating the culture around it. I also like that “When Doves Cry” came out of a specific request from director Albert Magnoli. It was not just a Prince song sitting around waiting to be used. It was part of the movie as it was taking shape.Less Than Zero, works a little differently. People do not usually talk about its soundtrack with the same reverence, but it was still very plugged into late 1987. The Bangles recorded “Hazy Shade of Winter” for the film, and it went to number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, which gave the soundtrack real chart power. The rest of the album also feels very rooted in its time, with Rick Rubin producing and artists like LL Cool J and Public Enemy sharing space with a sharper, louder Simon and Garfunkel cover. It really feels like a late 1987 attempt to pull different parts of current music into one package. Then there is Singles, from 1992, which may be the best example here of a soundtrack capturing a scene while it was still happening. The album came out on June 30, 1992, a few months before the movie opened, and it included Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains, along with Paul Westerberg, who also worked on the score. Cameron Crowe later called it more of an anti soundtrack, basically a souvenir of that scene instead of a tidy album built to sum up the movie. That feels right to me. It was not trying to seem current. It actually was current. Even the gap between the album release and the film helped give it that feeling. So that is the set this week. Four movies, four different kinds of soundtrack success, and four reminders that music can tie a film to its moment just as much as clothes, locations, or dialogue can. One caught the early 1980s world of radio and mall record stores. One became a hit album right alongside the movie. One used a major single to help define its identity. One caught a local scene before it had even settled into history. Those are the kinds of rentals I always like talking about, movies that bring back not just the film, but the moment when it first showed up.Thanks for reading Video Store Podcast! Welcome back to When Words Fail, Music Speaks, the podcast where we harness the healing power of music to battle depression, trauma, and the everyday battles we all face. I'm your host, James Cox—a lover of music who knows firsthand how a riff can become a lifeline. In today's episode we sit down with Sean Martin, the powerhouse vocalist and guitarist behind the hard‑rock outfit The Quarantine. Sean's journey weaves together grunge grit, military grit, and raw, unapologetic honesty. From his days in the airborne infantry and covert training in Alaska and Thailand to the darker corridors of PTSD and a “temporary psychotic breakdown” that landed him in a VA inpatient program, Sean shows us how music can become both therapy and rebellion.Together we explore:Art as Therapy – how Sean turned a scathing rap‑rock track, “Nemesis,” into a cathartic outlet for trauma. The Weight of OPSEC – why soldiers often stay silent, and how breaking that silence unlocks healing.Band Identity – the meaning behind “The Quarantine” and its stance against societal other‑ization.Discipline Meets Creativity – what military rigor taught Sean about practice, improvisation, and pushing beyond the sheet music.Grunge Roots & Influences – his first connection to Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and how those sounds still echo in his writing.Lightning‑Round Favorites – from Soundgarden and Pantera to Incubus, Deftones, and even Michael Jackson, revealing the eclectic soundtrack that fuels his soul.If you've ever felt the sting of isolation, the roar of anxiety, or the need for a musical spark to pull you back from the edge, this conversation is for you. Grab your headphones, take a breath, and let Sean's story remind you that, no matter how loud the world gets, there's always a chord that can bring us back to center.Stay tuned—because when words fail, music speaks.

“If I hadn't have known that was Anthrax, I would have guessed it was Alice In Chains…” The early 90's was a strange time for metal, most notably due to the change in the musical landscape with the emergence of the Seattle scene and Alice In Chains becoming one of the key crossover bands to bridge the transition from thrash to the next wave of darker, grungier sounding heavy metal. “Every time you do that, I have a less chance of getting laid…” While ANTHRAX began the 90's with a much darker and angrier sound on Persistence of Time, the darkness and heaviness of their sound would become further amplified with the departure of Joey Belladonna and the addition of JOHN BUSH (formerly of Armored Saint) on vocals, resulting in a new era of Anthrax: BUSHTHRAX! With more grit and heft in the vocals than before, the JOHN BUSH ERA of ANTHRAX is definitely a different flavor than the band's output throughout the 80's with Joey Belladonna, and with the changing of the guard in the early 90's due to the growing popularity of the Seattle sound, the time was right for a slight alteration to the thrashier sounds of 80's era ThrashThrax, resulting in the darker, more aggressive BUSHTHRAX era that would follow for the next decade or so. “Alright, well it's not like we've never done that for you before…” Always remember that “springtime LSD is the best time for LSD” and that “it's not as fun for me when I push away”. Realize that “girls with Doc Martens are kinda cute (except for when they wear ‘patrouli')” and imagine what it'd be like “if we bled out of our dicks for a week” when you JOIN US for some 90's era ANTHRAX featuring JOHN BUSH, aka BUSHTHRAX!!! Though they were one of the first so-called “grunge” bands to sign to a major label, Alice in Chains were something of an outlier in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s Seattle scene. They didn't fall directly into the punk camp, or the hair metal camp, and even the true metalheads thought they weren't hardcore enough. This became painfully evident when the band opened a tour for Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax, and were hazed, spat on, and booed. Alice's lead singer, Layne Staley, could take the criticism. He had a prankster's spirit, not to mention a rock ‘n roll attitude that paired well with his killer rock ‘n roll voice. But newfound fame was overwhelming, as was the destructive addiction to heroin Layne developed to deal with it all. Soon Layne Staley found himself lost in a jungle of his own making, not unlike the jungle that he sang so convincingly about in one of Alice in Chains' most endearing songs.
