Considered the First Lady of Sacramento rap, Marvaless is one of the most respected lyricists from Northern California. Growing up in the Creek, she earned her reputation in Sac as a teenager and linked up with C-Bo and AWOL Records. Her debut album "Ghetto Blues" helped put Marvaless on the map and she's been dropping non-stop since then. She might be the ONLY artist to have songs with 2pac, Mac Dre, The Jacka, and Cougnut. Her album with Messy Marv is also a fan favorite. She remains active in the rap game while also supporting her daughter, Lil Marvaless.--For promo opportunities on the podcast, e-mail info@historyofthebay.com--History of the Bay Spotify Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3ZUM4rCv6xfNbvB4r8TVWU?si=9218659b5f4b43aaOnline Store: https://dregsone.myshopify.com Follow Dregs One:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1UNuCcJlRb8ImMc5haZHXF?si=poJT0BYUS-qCfpEzAX7mlAInstagram: https://instagram.com/dregs_oneTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@dregs_oneTwitter: https://twitter.com/dregs_oneFacebook: https://facebook.com/dregsone41500:00 Bay to Sac03:43 The first female rapper from Sac?09:21 Sacramento gang culture13:47 First raps17:13 C-Bo & AWOL22:20 Ghetto Blues30:53 Messy Marv33:57 Mac Dre35:27 2pac40:22 West Coast Mafia42:56 Jacka & Husalah46:15 Taking a break from music
Wynik pierwszej tury wyborów prezydenckich można odczytać jako czerwoną kartkę dla obozu rządzącego - uważa Jacek Żakowski. W TOK FM publicysta wezwał Donalda Tuska do dymisji.
To zaskakujący, nietypowy thriller z ekscentryczną bohaterką, którą w filmowej adaptacji zagrała Elisabeth Taylor.
A potem… pełen pakiet popkulturowych wrażeń!W segmentach growych przyglądamy się strategii Team Yankee, wracamy do piekielnych korzeni z Diablo 3, wrażenia z klimatycznego Atomfall i intrygującego Clair Obscure: Expedition 33, a także wspominamy GTA V, Müller Jacka i emocje z The Last of Us Part II.Wśród filmów i seriali omawiamy MoonRise, Dzień Zagłady, nowe informacje o Venomie 3 i Vaianie 2, wracamy do kontrowersyjnego MIB: International, dyskutujemy o animacji Devil May Cry, The Not Very Ground Tour, a także kultowych produkcjach takich jak Black Mirror, Severance czy Projekt UFO.Na koniec coś dla fanów książek – Ucieczka Eisensteina, czyli tom czwarty z serii Herezja Horusa, to punkt obowiązkowy dla każdego fana Warhammera 40k.
FOR ECONOMIC CO-OPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT, Health and Work (2024, OECD)ORGANISATION FOR ECONOMIC CO-OPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT, OECD Better Life Index: Portugal (2024, OECD)SALVAGIONI, Denise A. Lil Yee has established himself as one of the top rappers from San Francisco through his realistic portrayals of street life. His music is highlighted by unique melodies and raw expressions of pain and honesty. Yee's father is a well-known figure from Fillmoe, which paved the way for him to carry on his neighborhood's legacy along with his cousin Lil Pete. He came into the game as part of the Third World collective with Boo Banga, but has since forged his own path as a solo artist. As he gets farther along in his career, Yee is now focused on maturing as an artist and leaving the streets behind to give his full focus to the music.--For promo opportunities on the podcast, e-mail: info@historyofthebay.com--History of the Bay Spotify Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3ZUM4rCv6xfNbvB4r8TVWU?si=9218659b5f4b43aaOnline Store: https://dregsone.myshopify.com Follow Dregs One:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1UNuCcJlRb8ImMc5haZHXF?si=poJT0BYUS-qCfpEzAX7mlAInstagram: https://instagram.com/dregs_oneTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@dregs_oneTwitter: https://twitter.com/dregs_oneFacebook: https://facebook.com/dregsone41500:00 Intro01:35 Fillmoe07:00 Authentic street music12:23 Respect16:36 Third World20:11 Early success in music23:42 Learning how to be “a rapper”29:00 Street politics 34:09 Music business43:05 The Jacka

History of the Bay Podcast Ep. 85: Mistah F.A.B. has been at the center of the Bay Area hip-hop scene since he splashed on the scene as the Crown Prince of Hyphy in the early 2000s. Growing up in North Oakland, FAB's parents were in the street life but pushed him towards a different route. This led him to developing his talent as a rapper, putting out his first album "Nig-Latin" through Straight Hits Entertainment with Jazzy Jim and Gary Archer. This eventually led to him catching the attention of Mac Dre, and FAB's debut album "Son of a Pimp" dropped on Thizz Entertainment. This conversation about FAB's early career is like a history of Bay Area rap in itself, touching on artists like Andre Nickatina, The Jacka, Souls of Mischief, Too Short, Messy Marv, and many more. -- For promo opportunities on the podcast, e-mail: info@historyofthebay.com -- History of the Bay Spotify Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3ZUM4rCv6xfNbvB4r8TVWU?si=9218659b5f4b43aa Online Store: https://dregsone.myshopify.com Follow Dregs One: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1UNuCcJlRb8ImMc5haZHXF?si=poJT0BYUS-qCfpEzAX7mlA Instagram: https://instagram.com/dregs_one TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@dregs_one Twitter: https://twitter.com/dregs_one Facebook: https://facebook.com/dregsone415 00:00 Introduction 05:13 Fab's parents in the street life 14:52 Choosing not to get in the streets 20:10 North Oakland history 24:00 Starting to rap 31:59 Gary Archer & D-Ray 34:09 “Nig Latin” album 38:53 Meeting Mac Dre 46:37 Andre Nickatina 49:40 “Super Sick Wid It” 56:39 “Son of a Pimp” album 58:58 Kanye West, Wake Up Show 1:02:48 “Backpack rap;” Souls of Mischief 1:10:20 The Freestyle King 1:16:12 Freestyle battles 1:21:25 The New Bay & the Hyphy Movement 1:26:54 Messy Marv 1:33:02 Hyphy era hits 1:36:27 Getting banned from KMEL 1:46:07 Ghost Ride It video 1:49:57 The Jacka 1:57:45 Community work --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/historyofthebay/support
Peter FitzSimons - Author "Remembering Albert Jacka" Our heroes can come from the most ordinary of places. As a shy young lad growing up in country Victoria, no one in the district had any idea the man Albert Jacka would become. Albert 'Bert' Jacka was 21 when Britain declared war on Germany in August 1914. A month and a half later, Bert enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) and the young private was assigned to 14 Battalion D company. By the time they shipped out to Egypt he'd been made a Lance-Corporal. On 26 April 1915, 14 Battalion landed at Gallipoli under the command of Brigadier-General Monash's 4th Infantry Brigade. And it was here, in the early hours of 20 May, that Lance-Corporal Albert Jacka proved he was 'the bravest of the brave'. The Turks were gaining ground with a full-scale frontal attack. As his comrades lay dead or dying around him, Jacka single-handedly held off the enemy onslaught. The Turks retreatedSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Ginkgo Village: Trauma and Transformation in Rural China (Anu Press, 2023) provides an original and powerfully intimate bottom-up perspective on China's recent tumultuous history. Drawing on ethnographic and life-history research, the book takes readers deep into a village in a mountainous region of central-eastern China known as Eyuwan. In the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, villagers in this region experienced terrible trauma and far-reaching socio‑economic and political change. In the civil war (1927–1949), they were slaughtered in fighting between Nationalist and Communist forces. During the Great Leap Forward (1958–1961), they suffered appalling famine. Since the 1990s, mass labor outmigration has lifted local villagers out of poverty and fueled major transformations in their circumstances and practices, social and family relationships, and values and aspirations. At the heart of this book are eight tales that recreate Ginkgo Village life and the interactions between villagers and the researchers who visit them. These tales use storytelling to engender an empathetic understanding of Ginkgo Villagers' often traumatic life experiences; to present concrete details about transformations in everyday village life in an engaging manner; and to explore the challenges and rewards of fieldwork research that attempts empathetic understanding across cultures. Tamara Jacka is an Emeritus Professor in the College of Asia and the Pacific, The Australian National University. A feminist social anthropologist, her main research interests are in gender, rural-to-urban migration and social change in contemporary China. She is the author of Rural Women in Urban China: Gender, Migration, and Social Change (2006), which won the Francis L.K. Hsu prize for best book in East Asian Anthropology. Yadong Li is a PhD student in anthropology at Tulane University. His research interests lie at the intersection of economic anthropology, medical anthropology, hope studies, and the anthropology of borders and frontiers. Then Samuel died; and all Israel assembled and mourned for him, and they buried him at his house in Ramah. And David set out and went down to the wilderness of Paran. Now there was a man in Maon whose business was in Carmel; and the man was very rich, and he had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats. And it came about while he was shearing his sheep in Carmel (now the man's name was Nabal, and his wife's name was Abigail. And the woman was intelligent and beautiful in appearance, but the man was harsh and evil in his dealings, and he was a Calebite), that David heard in the wilderness that Nabal was shearing his sheep. So David sent ten young men; and David said to the young men, “Go up to Carmel and visit Nabal, and greet him in my name; and this is what you shall say: ‘Have a long life, peace to you, and peace to your house, and peace to all that you have! Now then, I have heard that you have shearers. Now, your shepherds have been with us; we have not harmed them, nor has anything of theirs gone missing all the days they were in Carmel. Ask your young men and they will tell you. Therefore let my young men find favor in your eyes, for we have come on a festive day. Please give whatever you find at hand to your servants and to your son David.'”When David's young men came, they spoke to Nabal in accordance with all these words in David's name; then they waited. But Nabal answered David's servants and said, “Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants today who are each breaking away from his master. Shall I then take my bread and my water and my meat that I have slaughtered for my shearers, and give it to men whose origin I do not know?” So David's young men made their way back and returned; and they came and informed him in accordance with all these words. Then David said to his men, “Each of you strap on his sword.” So each man strapped on his sword. And David also strapped on his sword, and about four hundred men went up behind David, while two hundred stayed with the baggage. Now one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, saying, “Behold, David sent messengers from the wilderness to greet our master, and he spoke to them in anger. Yet the men were very good to us, and we were not harmed, nor did anything go missing as long as we went with them, while we were in the fields. They were a wall to us both by night and by day, all the time we were with them tending the sheep. Now then, be aware and consider what you should do, because harm is plotted against our master and against all his household; and he is such a worthless man that no one can speak to him.”Then Abigail hurried and took two hundred loaves of bread and two jugs of wine, and five sheep already prepared and five measures of roasted grain, and a hundred cakes of raisins and two hundred cakes of figs, and she loaded them on donkeys. Then she said to her young men, “Go on ahead of me; behold, I am coming after you.” But she did not tell her husband Nabal. And it happened as she was riding on her donkey and coming down by the hidden part of the mountain, that behold, David and his men were coming down toward her; so she met them. Now David had said, “It is certainly for nothing that I have guarded everything that this man has in the wilderness, so that nothing has gone missing of all that belonged to him! For he has returned me evil for good. May God do so to the enemies of David, and more so, if by morning I leave alive as much as one male of any who belong to him.”When Abigail saw David, she hurried and dismounted from her donkey, and fell on her face in front of David and bowed herself to the ground. She fell at his feet and said, “On me alone, my lord, be the blame. And please let your slave speak to you, and listen to the words of your slave. Please do not let my lord pay attention to this worthless man, Nabal, for as his name is, so is he. Nabal is his name, and stupidity is with him; but I your slave did not see the young men of my lord whom you sent.“Now then, my lord, as the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, since the Lord has restrained you from shedding blood, and from avenging yourself by your own hand, now then, may your enemies and those who seek evil against my lord, be like Nabal. And now let this gift which your servant has brought to my lord be given to the young men who accompany my lord. Please forgive the offense of your slave; for the Lord will certainly make for my lord an enduring house, because my lord is fighting the battles of the Lord, and evil will not be found in you all your days. Should anyone rise up to pursue you and to seek your life, then the life of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of the living with the Lord your God; but the lives of your enemies He will sling out as from the hollow of a sling. And when the Lord does for my lord in accordance with all the good that He has spoken concerning you, and appoints you ruler over Israel, this will not become an obstacle to you, or a troubled heart to my lord, both by having shed blood without cause and by my lord's having avenged himself. When the Lord deals well with my lord, then remember your slave.”Then David said to Abigail, “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me, and blessed be your discernment, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from bloodshed and from avenging myself by my own hand. Nevertheless, as the Lord God of Israel lives, who has restrained me from harming you, if you had not come quickly to meet me, there certainly would not have been left to Nabal until the morning light as much as one male.” So David accepted from her hand what she had brought him, and said to her, “Go up to your house in peace. See, I have listened to you and granted your request.”Then Abigail came to Nabal, and behold, he was having a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal's heart was cheerful within him, for he was very drunk; so she did not tell him anything at all until the morning light. But in the morning, when the wine had gone out of Nabal, his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him so that he became like a stone. About ten days later, the Lord struck Nabal and he died. When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Blessed be the Lord, who has pleaded the cause of the shame inflicted on me by the hand of Nabal, and has kept back His servant from evil. The Lord has also returned the evildoing of Nabal on his own head.” Then David sent a proposal to Abigail, to take her as his wife. When the servants of David came to Abigail at Carmel, they spoke to her, saying, “David has sent us to you to take you to him as his wife.” And she got up and bowed with her face to the ground, and said, “Behold, your slave is a servant to wash the feet of my lord's servants.” Then Abigail got up quickly, and rode on a donkey, with her five female attendants who accompanied her; and she followed the messengers of David and became his wife.David had also taken Ahinoam of Jezreel, and they both became his wives. But Saul had given his daughter Michal, David's wife, to Palti the son of Laish, who was from Gallim.Visit us on all our social media platforms:https://linktr.ee/sovereignkingchurchListen on the go on your favorite podcast service:Apple - https://tinyurl.com/uxw3awb6Spotify - https://tinyurl.com/3afr2amzCCLI Copyright License 21770970 Size A - Streaming License # 21770963 Size A
Yung LB, Joeski and Rozay are three of the founders of Runtz, one of the most popular cannabis brands in history. Their story starts before legalization, when powerful strains like purple, kush, and champagne were still exotic and hard to find. They met through their mutual passions for music and cannabis culture and started touring as the Cookie Boyz, mentored by artists like Berner and The Jacka. Once they met the growers who created the strain that would become Runtz, they innovated new ways to promote, market, and brand a strain that had never been done before. Years later, Runtz is still a premier cannabis strain and has opened up multiple opportunities for entrepreneurship. -- Sponsored by Stem Social https://stemsocial.io https://instagram.com/stem.social Also sponsored by Lost Soul Courier Collective - call or text (415) 275-1922 for free Narcan delivery in San Francisco https://lostsoulcouriercollective.org For more info contact @traceyh415 -- For promo opportunities on the podcast, e-mail: historyofthebaypodcast@gmail.com -- Produced by DEO @deo415, videography by @mvp_kingced -- Hat by So Fresh Clothing: https://sofreshclothing.com Hoodie by Rebel 8: https://rebel8.com --- History of the Bay Spotify Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3ZUM4rCv6xfNbvB4r8TVWU?si=9218659b5f4b43aa Online Store: https://dregsone.myshopify.com Follow Dregs One: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1UNuCcJlRb8ImMc5haZHXF?si=poJT0BYUS-qCfpEzAX7mlA Instagram: https://instagram.com/dregs_one TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@dregs_one Twitter: https://twitter.com/dregs_one Facebook: https://facebook.com/dregsone415 00:00 Introduction 04:00 Early strains in the Bay 13:11 Becoming entrepreneurs 28:14 Learning from Berner 33:07 GMO strains 35:41 Legalization 42:57 Creating the Runtz brand 54:25 Early success 01:01:07 Cookies lawsuit 01:07:16 How to build a successful brand 01:11:12 Current projects --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/historyofthebay/support
