The Life of Joseph: The Betrayal - Josh Wilson by Storyline Church
Even though Joseph had forgiven his brothers years prior, they continued to live in fear after Jacob's death. We too, need to be reminded of the forgiveness we possess in Christ, despite the feelings of shame and condemnation that assault our hearts at times. Joseph's response to his brother's ill-founded fear teaches us invaluable spiritual truths like: leaving justice in God's hands, trusting the providence of God's goodness over man's malice, and leaving a legacy of hope for future generations. A life well lived for the glory of God is the “good life” we all seek!

What does it look like to forgive and seek reconciliation in the Kingdom of God? In these chapters, we see Joseph finally revealing his identity to his brothers. Would he respond from his woundedness in anger and exact justice? Joseph teaches us what it looks like when we forgive as forgiven people. Forgiveness allows reconciliation to flow into restoration. And ultimately, this picture points us to the cross – where ultimate forgiveness flowed into ultimate restoration.
Then he said: “I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.” Taught at Agape Bible Church on August 4, 2024. [43 minutes]

We end the Dreamer series on the life of Joseph today. In this message, we spend the majority of our time in vv. 15-21 and verse 20 in particular. There we dive into the topic of God's sovereignty and man's responsibility and consider how the evil act of Joseph's brothers was at the same time a good act of God. https://midtownchurch.com/
So the men took that present and Benjamin, and they took double money in their hand, and arose and went down to Egypt; and they stood before Joseph. Taught at Agape Bible Church on July 21, 2024. [44 minutes]
The story of Joseph is all about God turning what seems bad into good. After great suffering, Joseph was raised up, taken out of prison, and given power. As the famine spreads across the known world, an unlikely reunion with the very brothers who sold him into slavery brings Joseph to tears. Instead of seeking revenge, he shows them grace, and puts them on a path of reconciliation while hiding his identity from them. We see the truth that nobody can thwart the plan of God. We bask in the truth that freedom begins where our hiding ends. And that what the enemy means for our harm, God means it for our good! Genesis 42
We are coming down the backstretch in our Dreamer series on the life of Joseph. Over the last couple of chapters, however, we've actually spent most of our time with his old and dying father Jacob. And what he's been up to is a lot of blessings. Two Sundays ago he blessed Pharaoh and last Sunday he blessed his two half-Egyptian grandsons Ephraim and Manasseh. His blessing work continues today with his twelve sons. https://midtownchurch.com/
This week we are blessed with another sermon from Pastor Mark as he continues his series through the life of Joseph. Today, we are introduced to the need and process of inner healing; Many of us need or seek emotional healing, but how have we tried (or not tried) to heal? In this talk, Pastor Mark introduces key principles of emotional healing and uses the story of Joseph to demonstrate the realistic way healing can manifest in our lives as Christians.

After over a decade of slavery + prison, God pulls Joseph out of the pit & places him in the palace. After interpreting Pharaoh's dreams, Joseph is elevated to the 2nd most powerful man on planet earth. Through this story we can draw almost innumerable applications like: God has a design in delay. We can't microwave what God intends to crock-pot in our lives. Suffering is a test, but so is success. When things are going well…do we praise God, prepare for harder times ahead, walk in boldness, and step into purpose? Or do we put our lives in cruise-control and forget God? Read: Genesis 41
Hebrews 11:21 says: "By faith Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, bowing in worship over the head of his staff." This expression of faith began at the end of chapter 47 but is fully shown in chapter 48. In this message, we take time to look at the blessing of Jacob on Joseph's two sons and end by highlighting three attributes of God revealed in this chapter. https://midtownchurch.com/

This week's passage is a study of contrasts, three specifically: the contrast between Jacob and Pharaoh, Israel and Egypt, and land and the promised land. In this we discover a handful of elements true then that are true for the church today. https://midtownchurch.com/
Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. Life is war. Our spiritual life is a battle, and we have a real, unseen enemy force working overtime to destroy our lives, the people we love, and everything that matters to us. What if so many of us fall to temptation over and over again, because we haven't mapped out a plan to fight ahead of time? What does the story of Joseph and the teachings of Jesus and His disciples tell us about preparing for and winning the battle we're engaged in?
Joseph said to [the butler and baker], “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell [your dreams] to me, please.” Taught at Agape Bible Church on June 16, 2024. [42 minutes]
Joseph, now a slave in Egypt, finds success because God is with him. Potiphar elevates him to chief of staff and gives him dominion over his land and possessions. Right as things seem to be taking a positive turn for Joseph, Potiphar's wife tries to seduce him, and Joseph refuses to betray his boss or his God. Consequently, he is falsely accused and imprisoned. And yet, even in the dungeon of life, God's presence is with Joseph, and favor follows him. This chapter in Joseph's story has much to teach us about vocation, temptation, and frustration. Through it all, if we have God's presence, our souls can feast in the penthouse or dungeons of life.
So it was, when his master heard the words which his wife spoke to him, saying, “Your servant did to me after this manner,” that his anger was aroused. Then Joseph's master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were confined. Taught at Agape Bible Church on June 9, 2024. [42 minutes]
