If you have a brewery, you need a tap room, says Ritchie Bosworth, Head Brewer and CEO of Coventry’s Twisted Barrel brewery. “For us, it’s the main source of our revenue. If you’re going to be a brewer, no matter how small or big your set-up is, you need a tap room,” says Ritchie Bosworth....

They manage to hit their stride to discuss Lucy's recent beer adventures and Ben's bender of a Stag weekend. Then after several own goals and both pre-recording beers and the first podcast beer they get to the games, Celeste and Agent A. They also discuss the recent news coming from Beavertown. Ben starts with the Cloudwater 'IPL Cashmere' and Lucy the Twisted Barrel 'Detroit Sour City'. Ben once again has a beer from Poppels Bryggeri, the WIPA whilst Lucy drinks Patrons 11.01 'Made In The Dark' from Northern Monk and Lord Whitney (Houston).

Back in 2014 Ritchie Bosworth and Chris Cooper set up the UK’s first ‘pico brewery’ using a tiny 60 litre kit, brewing in Chris’s garage in Tile Hill, Coventry. Demand soon outstripped supply and they set up in FarGo village, an artistically repurposed industrial space in Coventry City Centre, designed exclusively for creative, independent businesses. Here they set up a brand new brewery and tap house which was such a success that in 2017 they moved yet again to a larger unit within FarGo village to a space that can hold 300 people and furnished with 23 keg lines and 2 cask beers. We headed over to the tap room, grabbed a beer and fired some questions at Ritchie… www.twistedbarrel.co.uk www.fargovillage.co.uk

In our 46th podcast, we sit down with Steph from MASH to talk about the use of isinglass and veganism in the beer industry. After a twitter poll we did asking 'Should all beer bottles & cans specify if they are vegan or not?' we got a big response so decided to delve a little deeper into the subject. Asking why beer isnt labeled if its vegan or non-vegan? Should isinglass still be used and why it is? and more. Steph talks us through the process of isinglass and why it is used, as well as offering an insight into its pros and cons. She also tells us about the different ethics of veganism and how that can effect the way it is marketed. We discuss if bar staff should know what is in the beer they are serving and if breweries should label kegs and cask if they are fined or not. Big thanks to Steph for helping us with this and bringing a lot of knowledge to the discussion. Her company MASH specialises in craft beer & small-scale producer Marketing & Ops.
