Diversity Is Not a Qualifier For Division

Have you ever looked down on someone because they were different than you? Have you ever prejudged someone before you really got to know them? Have you ever thought that you were better than someone because of your status in life? Or maybe you looked down on someone because they came from the wrong side of the tracks or from the wrong neighborhood. Or maybe you decided to not engage and talk with someone because their perspective and worldview in life was drastically different than yours.Today, we live in a time where the church has become divided. We’ve allowed our preferences and our rationalizations to supercede what the Word of God says as it pertains to how we are to treat others. Over time, we’ve allowed secular ideologies and cultural world views to contaminate our thoughts – allowing human logic to reign above divine inspiration and truth.

Our scripture for today is going to be Exodus 7. In my study, I have found that God wants to speak to us about three important things. These three things are the foundation of living a Christ-filled life and a Christ-guided life. These three things are what allows you to develop a closer walk and relationship with God as men. The three things are:For you to know who God is personallyFor others to know who God is through youFor you to know that God has a purpose for your life and wants to accomplish great things through you by His grace, His will, your obedience and your faithWe are going to look at the life of Moses and learn why obedience is so important to live a life in which God can use. Obedience and trust is the foundation for everything as a believer in Jesus Christ.

    Anxiety and Peace

What I want to talk to you today is about reconciliation, anxiety and peace, spiritual warfare and our posture towards God.Even as believers in the body of Jesus Christ, there will be conflict, disagreements, different perspectives and ideations that we will not understand, different interpretations on certain issues. We will not always agree on everything just because we are Christians. There are various dynamics that often cause us to look at life, people and situations that cause us to respond and act a certain way based on our nature and nurture experiences and worldview. Christians like you and I are just like the Christians in the early church. We are imperfect human beings. But that doesn’t mean we have the right or authority to continue to live in a spirit of individualism and in an environment of separation and disunity.Paul implores us to resolve our issues by giving our issues to Jesus Christ which comes by prayer and allowing God’s spirit to move in our lives. Jesus Christ desires reconciliation in our life. We must remember that one of the chief aims of Jesus Christ coming to earth was to die for us and be resurrected so that we can be reconciled with Him and the Father.

God Initiates - A Personal Story of Experiencing God

Today, I want to share with you what the Lord has put on my heart as it relates to the last 13 verses of Matthew 4. Today, I want to talk to you about:The Timing of GodThe Kingdom of HeavenHow God InitiatesDiscipleship/FollowshipTeaching, Preaching and HealingAs I continue to read the Word of God and ask God for knowledge, understanding and wisdom as it pertains to His ways and His working power, it is becoming more apparent to me that God has a time and place for everything and that his thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways are higher than our ways. It is increasingly more apparent to me that God has a time and place for everything. A season for everything. Ecclesiastes talks about this, but the first thing that jumped out to me in Matthew chapter 4:12 is where it says “Now when Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, He departed to Galilee”… and in verse 17 it says … “From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”What I love about these verses is that Jesus knew when it was His time to make himself known to the community of Galilee. He knew that he was entering a new season of His life. He knew that now was the time to release His call and walk into the purpose of why He came to earth and make His name known. In this teaching I took the opportunity to share my personal story about how God initiated with me. God moved greatly this evening and I hope you will be blessed.

Unexpectedly, he clearly heard the Holy Spirit say, "One day, you will be a pastor."Flash forward several decades and Erik is humbled and blessed to be an Administrative Pastor at Wildwood Calvary Chapel in Yucaipa, CA, where he regularly teaches, counsels, and writes. Erik is driven by a passion to see people develop a profound love for the Bible, an abiding relationship with Jesus Christ, and to walk in victory through the power of the Holy Spirit! He earned his undergraduate degree from Cal State Fullerton in Political Science and has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Redlands.Erik is an avid reader and writer, which has led him to author and co-author numerous books, including his most recent, Don't Worry About A Thing, a biblical study on overcoming worry and anxiety, which is available on his website and Amazon. He also loves to travel, which has led him to 28 states and 13 countries where he's had the opportunity to speak about God's Word and to share His love with others. The best part though is that Erik gets to share life and ministry with his lovely wife, Juanita, and their two children: Skylar and Maksim.
