Send us a textAs you all know, I'm always posting content — and lately, I've been sharing more about my journey back to Catholicism. Well, that journey brought a beautiful new friend into my life: Grace. She called me out of the blue, and of course, I called her right back! I truly believe God placed her in my life. She is loving, kind, supportive, and a real blessing. When the Pope passed away, I knew in my heart that I wanted to have a priest on my podcast. I reached out to several priests with no luck. So, I called Grace and asked, "Do you know any priests who might come on my podcast?" She said, "I'll reach out to Father Jeff Pomeisl — but no promises!"Well, Grace made the call... and Father Jeff reached out to me!
Applying the Actionable Truths 4: FaithWe take a look this week at the fourth actionable truth our research has shown us helps you move from trial to triumph: faith. To effectively move beyond a crucible, we need to have an anchor for our soul, a guiding light for our journey. Something that will keep us on track and in touch with who we really are. That is what we call faith at Beyond the Crucible. It may include different belief systems, such as Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism or Buddhism. It could be different philosophical or spiritual ways of thinking. But to withstand the storms of life and the crucibles we may encounter, we have to have an immovable north star that guides us to our life of significance — especially through the challenges we encounter along the way."The point," Warwick says, "is that we need to get in touch with what we believe at our very core."To explore Beyond the Crucible resources, including our free Trials-to-Triumphs Self-Assessment, visit beyondthecrucible.com.Enjoy the show? Belief or FaithWe can believe lots of things, but only faith gets you saved. You can believe God is Love, but it takes faith to please Him.There are many differences between belief and faith shown here.

What Does our Church Believe? We are part of New Frontiers which was started by Terry Virgo and was part of the growing Charismatic Movement in the UK during the 1970's and 1980's. The emphasis was on the word and the spirit and the gifts of the Spirit being manifest in meetings and daily life – New frontiers grew and now has nearly 2000 churches globally.Interview with Terry Virgo giving the history of New Frontiers from the beginnings to the present day and is worth a listen for everyone!Link to the Evangelical Alliance's Statement of Faith, which we agree with: What is our vision statement? We are a worshipping community who love Jesus and serve his mission. To build a church from which we will have multisite congregations. What is our purpose Statement? We exist to worship God and encounter his presence, committed to advancing his Kingdom through local Church communities, caught up in mission, here, and to the nations. So what do we Believe? We believe in The Bible as God's authoritative word to everyone. We believe in the Trinity – Father son and Holy SpiritWe believe in Salvation through Jesus aloneWe believe we are born to worship GodWe believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as distinct from salvationWe believe in Baptism in Water on confession of your faithWe believe in the gifts of the Spirit as vital in our Church life and recognise the five fold ministry of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers in the Church today. We believe in the Virgin birthWe believe in the Resurrection of Jesus ChristWe believe in the Priesthood of all believersWe believe in The Church as a local body of God's people to bring justice and mercy in the local area to help the poor and those in need.We believe in local and international mission. We believe that Jesus is coming again to create a new Heaven and New Earth. This list is not exhaustive by any means but gives a good idea of what we stand for! Trump's plan for the Deep State & Oprah's Former Spiritual Advisor convicted of mass rape: How fame destroys faithWe probably agree the Deep State needs to be completely dismantled. President Trump wants that as well--and, I think he wants revenge, which is God's alone--and DJT is correct to desire justice, for us to have the power to fire civil servants and for accountability. Yes, let's dismantle the alphabet agencies. But, what to do with the pieces? President Trump is talking about putting them under the control of the presidency. When we think of that, just imagine Gavin Newsome having them under his control because that is an example of how bad it could get. I will get into a series of ideas for how to bring them back under control, but not before we look at what happens to many people who get way too much power and fame. It's not a destour, I promise, when we look at Oprah's world in light of the conviction of her former spiritual adviser for mass rape and, it bizarrely appears, mass murder. What does God's Word say? Romans 12:19 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drinkMark 10:42-45 And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”1 Peter 5:3 Not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.John 13:12-15 When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.Episode 972 Links:Oprah Denies Jesus is the Only Way to Salvation & HeavenOprah's Spiritual Healer "John of God' Receives 99-Year Sentence for Trafficking OperationOprah's spiritual healer has been sentenced to 99 years in prison after being found guilty of raping and abusing over 600 women and young girls. HIghlights - Ears (Part 6, Episode 43) Persuasion Starts HerePeople don't care what we know until they know that we care.”To listen well is the first step in caring. Persuasion begins with listening well.Four scenarios:1. When someone is angry2. When you are trying to make a saleI discovered early on that people don't buy from me because they understand what I'm selling. They buy because they feel understood.' Jon benefits from his natural tendency to ask a lot of questions and to listen closely to the answers. (Susan Cain, Quiet)3. When someone has an opposing point of viewWhen we try to convince people to think again, our first instinct is usually to start talking. Yet the most effective way to help others open their minds is often to listen. (Adam Grant, Think Again)4. When you would like to share about your religious faithWe could do a far better job of patiently listening. And we should not talk until we canrepresent the skeptic's viewpoint with empathy so that a skeptic friend says, ‘Yes, that is my hang up; I couldn't have put it better myself.' Only then should we try to...recommend the Christian faith to them. (Tim Keller, “Why We Argue Best with our Mouths Shut,” Christianity Today. May 26, 2017)Evangelism is joining the Holy Spirit in a conversation he's already having with someone. (Kevin Palau)Tension drops when people feel heard. Ask questions and care about the answers. (Kevin Palau)I'm willing to bet the farm that in our postmodern society the most important evangelistic skill is listening. (Todd Hunter, the former CEO of Alpha USA)If you want to talk to somebody honestly, as a human being, ask him about his kids, find out what his dreams are – just to find out, for no other reason. Because as soon as you lay your hands on a conversation to steer it, it's not a conversation anymore; it's a pitch. And you're not a human being; you're a marketing rep. End Quote Listening well prepares the ground for persuasion. But persuasion should not be our primary reason for listening well. We listen well because we genuinely care about the other person. We listen well because people are important whether or not they buy from us, agree with our politics or theology or continue to be mad at us. People are important for their own sake, not as a means to an end. The primary reason for listening well is because we genuinely care about others.
Ajahn Dhammasiha reflects on teachings of the Buddha in 'Cankī Sutta' (MN #95): What spiritual teachings are appealing to us, or what kind of opinions, views, theories we're attracted to, is not normally determined by the factual truthfulness of that teaching or view. Instead, it's usually one of the following five reasons:We simply have faithWe like it, it feels good, it's emotionally agreeable to usWe accept it on the basis of tradition/authorityWe accept it as it's reasonable, intellectually appealing, logicalWe accept it based on reflective contemplation and intuitionUnfortunately, either of the five can turn out right or wrong:Although we have faith, the teaching/view could still be false and unwholesome.Even if we have no faith, it could be true and beneficial.Same with the other four reasons. In order to figure out which teaching, or data, or scientific paper, or view, or information to trust, the Buddha recommends a different approach: We investigate the qualities of the person or institution who is the source of that teaching or data.If the person expounding the teaching manifests the defilements of greed, hatred and delusion, whatever theories, data and 'fact' coming from that person or institution is not reliable or trustworthy. On the other hand, the teachings or data coming from someone free from desire, aversion and delusion is highly trustworthy. Therefore, if we want to know what information, teaching or data to trust, we investigate the quality of the person or institution where it's coming from:If the person or institution is corrupt, even if famous, powerful, or with big titles and degrees, the teaching or data is likely corrupt as well.If the person or instituion is free from corruption, the teaching or data is likely trustworthy as well.www.dhammagiri.netwww.facebook.com/dhammagiri-forest-hermitagewww.youtube.com/channel/UCJINt0JJBfFm_x0FZcU9QJwwww.tinyletter.com/dhammagiri/archive

Those who claim to be devout must submit to the authority of Christ and bring forth fruit of repentance--a changed life (Matt 21:18-46)God provides strength to lead us beyond elementary teaching to maturity. It is impossible to rekindle faith in those who deliberately turn from Christ.Good works provide a clear proof of genuine Christianity. Good works do not save. They show an active faithWe must imitate the lives of those who believed God’s promises.God has promised His blessings to those who follow the hope He offers.APPLICATIONSDo not linger on elementary issues of the Christian life.Study them. Know them. Practice them. But move beyond them as well to grow closer to God who desires a deeper relationship with you.Resist all temptations to push Jesus back to a secondary place in your life.May He be the focus in every part of our lives and in every way. May all things about our lives be submitted to HimProvide an example of faithfulness for others to imitate. Not for glory or honor, but to exemplify Jesus and put our faith in actionEnter God’s very presence by claiming the hope we have in Jesus. For more information about this show, which includes additional notes and details, please visit the show page here or visit our home page at SeekingourGod.comMusicLife of Riley by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/3976-life-of-rileyLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

We can forget God's sovereign salvation:We forget we didn't deserve savingWe forget we were saved by GodWe forget the suffering required for our salvationWe forget to worship God for our salvationThat's a serious spiritual amnesia isn't it? But thankfully there's a cure that reverses the effects and etches God's sovereign salvation in our minds.Read Exodus 12:1-7 and 24-28 to see how God cures the Israelites amnesia, so that we can improve our spiritual memories too. As we do so, remember this Old Testament Passover is a picture prophecy of the New Testament Passover. As Paul puts it in 1 Corinthians 5:7, Christ our Passover was sacrificed for us.SALVATION IS BY GRACE ALONE (1-6)God initiates salvation (1-2)God designs salvation (3-5)God provides salvation (6) Salvation is by grace alone means salvation is by God alone. But what’s my part in this? What do I do?SALVATION IS BY FAITH ALONE (7-11A)Sprinkle blood by faithEat the lamb by faithBurn the lamb by faithPrepare to leave by faithWe’re not saved by doing but by depending. We’re not saved by trying but by trusting. So I’m to receive this salvation. Do I then do add my part?SALVATION IS BY CHRIST ALONE (11B-13)The Lord judges the bloodlessThe Lord passes over the blood-coveredWe’re not saved by our giving but by Christ’s forgiving. So, we don't have a part? What does that mean for us?SALVATION IS FOR THE GLORY OF GOD ALONE (14, 24-28)Remember God's salvationCelebrate God's salvationIs that not worth celebrating? We don’t produce our salvation for God, we praise God’s salvation of us.LIVING THE BIBLERemember that we tend to forget. We suffer from spiritual amnesia. We even forget God's sovereign salvation. We forget (1) We didn't deserve saving; (2) We were saved by God; (3) The suffering required for our salvation; (4) To worship God for our salvationSo, remember, salvation is (1) By grace alone; (2) By faith alone; (3) By Christ alone; (4) For the glory of God alone.Remember to celebrate God's sovereign salvation forever.Remember the Lord’s death until he come, or we’ll forget the Lord’s salvation has already come. This episode of Living the Bible lines up with Expedition 6: Day 4 in Exploring the Bible Together: A 52 Week Family Worship Plan and Exploring the Bible: A Bible Reading Plan for Kids. Branding Men Podcast with Anthony L. Fisher | Leadership | Identity | Manhood | Branding | Faith
Our scripture for today is going to be Exodus 7. In my study, I have found that God wants to speak to us about three important things. These three things are the foundation of living a Christ-filled life and a Christ-guided life. These three things are what allows you to develop a closer walk and relationship with God as men. The three things are:For you to know who God is personallyFor others to know who God is through youFor you to know that God has a purpose for your life and wants to accomplish great things through you by His grace, His will, your obedience and your faithWe are going to look at the life of Moses and learn why obedience is so important to live a life in which God can use. Obedience and trust is the foundation for everything as a believer in Jesus Christ.

We are all scared of evangelism. Few people seem to enjoy sharing their faith, even though Jesus tells us it's a priority for his disciples to do so. So how can we overcome our fear? What does it look like to share our faith? How can we avoid the cliches and manipulation that the word sometimes brings with it? In this sermon, Fr. Stephen shares how faith-sharing really boils down to being a good neighbour and loving as Jesus does. The specifics of our faith can start shining through only when we have shown genuine love for those we live with and next to.Scripture reference: Luke 10:1-20Preached by Rev. Five years later, she stumbled upon her entrepreneurship career when she co-founded Chicago’s first online digital magazine for women, aka “Cheeky Chicago”. During her 7 years at “Cheeky Chicago”, she gained valuable practical experience she now calls her “real-life MBA”.“Some people don’t believe in the “fake it ‘till you make it” philosophy, but I do. I really do because I did it. I’m a case study on what it can look like.” - Jessica ZweigAs time went by, “Cheeky Chicago” was steadily rising and reaching 100 000 readers and partnering up with hundreds of national brands. But she was feeling out of alignment for a long time. The relationship with her business partner had become very strenuous. She finally decided to leave the company and start a new life, one where she could just simply be. “I have this little tattoo on my wrist, says “Simply Be”, that I’ve gotten years before… as a reminder to always be OK with where I am because I am where I’m supposed to be.” - Jessica ZweigShe now spends her life helping experts architect their success through personal brand development, relying on her digital marketing expertise and guided by the principles of authenticity and living your truth! In This Episode We Canvas:Living Your TruthWe go over what it truly means to be authentic in life and in business and what are the essential ways of unlocking your magnificence through living in alignment with your truth.Searching for Support and Investing In YourselfJessica goes into detail about her personal hardships of living a life out of alignment and not feeling fulfilled. We talk about the intricacies of building an audience around your personal brand and how authenticity plays an important role in surrounding yourself with the people you need.“You cannot be for everyone, don’t even try… The more you do you, the more you’re going to attract your right tribe and that’s all you need.” - Jessica Zweig How to Brand YourselfWe’re also blessed with a mini-masterclass in personal branding as Jessica shares basic introductory steps to setting up a personal brand that fits you best. “Branding is an exercise in clarity. You can’t talk about 25 things a month. I say you have to pick 4… because it’s enough that gives you depth, but it’s small enough that gives you that concise clarity.” - Jessica ZweigJessica's Message of Inspired EvolutionThis is a wonderful conversation about how important it is for everyone to be able to be authentic and live their truth. Jessica is the perfect example of what we are capable if we only had the courage to take the leap and open ourselves up to the world.“Your truth is your magic. Two different ends of the spectrum. Two different people coming to Jesus. One publicly, one privately. They had two things in common: 1. A need for Jesus 2. Coming to Jesus in FaithWe all have needs, and we to come to Jesus in Faith. But what about when God doesn't give us what we want when we ask in faith....we look at that too.
