We had the privilege of sitting down with Valerie Linn, Executive Director of Magnolia Speech School. Magnolia Speech School's mission is to create a community for language and hearing challenged children and their families where they are empowered, socially, emotionally, and intellectually to reach their full potential through listening and spoken language. The school was established in 1956 right here in Jackson, Mississippi by Elizabeth Matthews, the mother of a deaf child. Her goal was to start a school to train children like her own to be apart of a listening and speaking world. Since then, Magnolia Speech School has placed an emphasis on technology and and has been recognized as one of our country's pioneer programs in coupling sensory integration and classroom instruction. In addition to the school, children and families can utilize the clinic for testing and treatment. We are so thankful for Magnolia Speech School and their commitment to our community!

We are back with another episode with Jennifer Emerson of Emerson Catering Group! Jennifer Emerson is a native of Brandon, Mississippi. She has a Bachelors of Arts in English from Belhaven College and attended graduate school at Mississippi College. Throughout high school and college, Jennifer earned extra money by waiting tables at some of Jackson's finest restaurants.  The restaurant business is in her blood. For forty-five years, her favorite aunt and uncle owned the Belmont Café, a beloved downtown eatery across from the Governor's Mansion. As a child, she was endlessly entertained by their quirky stories about politicians and patrons. After a three year hiatus in Chattanooga managing The Southside Grill, Jennifer returned to her roots in Jackson. She eventually landed a job as Private Dining Coordinator for Schimmel's Fine Dining where she met Derek.They heard from a friend that Walker's Drive-In was quietly up for sale and the rest is history; they've since opened two other restaurants in greater Jackson—Local 463 and CAET Seafood, as well as taking over ownership of Parlor Market in downtown Jackson and the Capitol Club in Capitol Towers, also in downtown Jackson. Welcome back to another episode of Get Inspired Y'all! We sat down with the incredible Jordan Dottley, owner and founder of West of Fifty Five! Jordan's love for clothes goes as far back as she can remember, from her mom taking her on shopping trips for new school clothes to ogling the designer window displays.  Style is so innate and personal and establishing your own is such a gratifying feeling for Jordan. The older she becomes and more confident she grows the more her style becomes completely her own. Jordan loves what she does and her customers! Jordan moved to New York right out of college with dreams of working in fashion PR or being a stylist, but she soon realized that her heart belongs in the South - at home with family. Owning a store is something that Jordan always wanted to do but was scared of taking a leap.  With the support and encouragement of her amazing parents, she finally took that leap and started West of Fifty Five. We are back with another episode and joined by the inspirational and super talented Christie Farese! Nature's color and light- that is what Christie strives to capture in her paintings. Kristen Ley knew at an early age what creating art and beautiful things meant. She grew up loving hands-on projects and anything that involved paint. After completing her high school AP art class , Kristen went on to Mississippi State University where she did not even hesitate when choosing a major. After graduation in 2007, Kristen opened up Cultigraphic Creative with a fellow MSU classmate. Both of them had a passion for art and design which translated nicely into design work for their long list of clients. In 2011, curiosity for the best of Kristen and she purchased a 1925 10x15 Chandler + Price from Lexington, KY and hauled it all the way back to Mississippi on a tiny trailer. With the press acquired she decided to open up Thimblepress. The name was derived from her childhood, now continued on the her adulthood, collection of thimbles from her travels. Every time she traveled to a new state she got a thimble to mark her visit. Kristen hopes to make Thimblepress a reflection of her life, love for her family, and her favorite places in the world; one of them being Mississippi. Get Inspired Y'all!
