What an amazing interview with Rory Boyle as our finalist in the Outstanding Leadership Awards! About Rory.... I love being an entrepreneur. One of my favourite quotes...................A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence through whatever he is doing, and leaves others to determine whether he is working or playing. To himself, he always appears to be doing both. From the lounge room of my brother Nick Boyle's modest home in Essendon we have scaled to be one of Australia's leading suppliers of corporate culture and thank you's. Delivering a gift every 20 seconds during our peak periods has become the norm and we will continue to strive to be Australia'a number one place to work. Our group of companies are at an exciting stage of growth and I am proud to lead Hampers with Bite, Snacks with Bite and Promotions Warehouse. Sonia McDonald CEO & Founder of LeadershipHQ and author of her recent book Leadership Attitude shares her insights on Leadership. Leadership is an attitude and discover how to rock as a leader.
We have a really important mission I want to share. We can’t do it alone. Our purpose is to create a world of leaders who make a difference to our world. We lead our world. Thing is, we can’t build a world of leaders without your help. We need you. We need you to help us make a difference. Many of us have made leadership bigger than us, greater than we believe is possible or about role or title. Leadership is about Mindset, Attitude and Behaviour. Let’s build a world where we spot, provoke and empower those around us to be leaders. As Marianne Williamson once said “It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.” Leadership is about being and creating the Light. We need us all to have the courage to spot, provoke and empower. Who is with me? Contact us at info@leadershiphq.com.au
Courageous Conversations – Why aren’t we saying what we need or want? Communication is the key to resolving any and all conflicts, concerns, or even just to clarify things. It’s the foundation that fosters great relationships, whether it is an intimate relationship with the love of your life, or a stranger on the train. If you suck at communication, you’ve got a big problem. Conversation is what connects us, and in the workplace, it is what binds a team, and moves it towards the best outcome for all involved, in the most productive way possible. So why is it we’re not saying what it is we need or want? If you are looking at building amazing communication skills contact the Team at LHQ at www.leadershiphq.com.au
Leadership is Scary. No this isn't a Stephen King type article on Leadership...no scary music or creeping up on you when you least expect it - now there is a movie idea! Scary? Thing it doesn’t have to be… “Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.” ― John Wayne I see, work, hear and feel leadership everyday. I don’t even think we know we are leaders or leading. But we are.
Recently I was reading an article in the Australian Financial Review on Leadership for those at the Top. It truly resonated with me. Why; just because you are at the top does not mean you are a leader or you are impervious to help. Time after time, I meet with leaders and organisations and they constantly complain about the level of skills, awareness and capability of their leaders and leadership. Basically they suck. How many times have you worked with a manager and they just suck as a leader. They are just so bad that you wish you could scream – YOU SUCK! Most of us don't leave organisations, but managers.
There is a little bit of a misconception in the corporate world that those who appear more confident can handle just about anything. Let me share something with you, 2015 was a tough (and awesome) year, and it seems like it was rather challenging for a number of us. I had my knocks, challenges, let downs, failures and - at times it was hard to get back up. But I always took something away from it, had huge leanings, changed the frame and sometimes I just let it go. High self-esteem does not necessarily lead to resilience. The opposite, however, is true; resilience builds your self-esteem.
Sonia McDonald CEO & Founder of LeadershipHQ talks about Leadership is an Attitude! Be inspired, motivated and energised to be the leader you want to be today - and remember we all can be leaders! Attitude, not aptitude determines altitude…Zig Ziglar
Sonia McDonald CEO & Founder of LeadershipHQ talks about Courage. Lead with Courage. Leadership is about Courage. "Your time is limited; so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition." Steve Jobs If you would love to be more Courageous or would love to share your story of courage as a leader, contact me at info@leadershiphq.com.au or www.leadershiphq.com.au
