Today's guests are owner, P Moss, and builder, Bamboo Ben, of Frankie's Tiki Room in the Ninth Island, Las Vegas, NV. The cocktail of the episode is the Frankie's original, Tiki Bandit. The recipe is as follows: 3/4 oz Gold Jamaican Rum 3/4 oz Pineapple Rum 1/2 oz blue curaçao 1/2 oz or great 1/2 oz passion fruit syrup 2 oz pineapple juice 1/2 oz white grapefruit juice 2 oz ginger ale Pineapple and cherries for garnish To make the Tiki Bandit, build over ice in a 17-ounce snifter, then pour into a cocktail shaker. Without shaking, re-pour into snifter. Serve garnished with pineapple and cherries. Jim is someone I'd been interested in doing an episode with for a long time and seemed like the logical choice once we began to plan our visit to the Mai Kai. It was a blast talking to him for an episode of the podcast and it's a very informative episode if you're interested in the Mai Kai and its cocktails. If there's a drink on their menu that you enjoy, then I guarantee you'll find a tribute recipe for it on The Atomic Grog. Our drink for this episode is going to be Jim's tribute to Mai Kai classic, the Mutiny. Tribute to The Mai-Kai's Mutiny By The Atomic Grog (version 2.5, updated August 2018) * 1 1/2 ounces fresh-squeezed orange juice * 2 ounces fresh-squeezed lime juice * 1 1/2 ounces fresh grapefruit juice * 1/2 ounce rich honey mix * 3/4 ounce passion fruit syrup * 1 ounce chilled Colombian coffee * 2 ounces light Puerto Rican or Virgin Islands rum * 2 ounces dark Jamaican rum * 3/4 ounce Mariano's Mix #7 * 2 dashes Angostura bitters * 4 drops Pernod Blend with up to 1 1/2 cups of crushed ice in a top-down mixer for around 5 seconds, or until frothy.
