Podcast by New Community Church
When Jesus leaves the Earth he encourages his disciples that it's good! Because now the Spirit can come and be with them - be with us. Living in step with the Spirit takes effort and an intentional way of living to choose God's way -- how do we do that? What does it look like to live a Spirit-Filled Life?
It's easy to let others shape our identity - many of us hold on to things others say about us and take that as truth. We have to shift our minds to see what Yahweh says about us - the real truth and build our identity from that foundation.
We are created in the image of God! And he created us with emotions! Many of us believe some emotions are bad and try to stay away from them, but our emotions themselves aren't bad! How do we manage our emotions and honor God through them?
This week's message is inspired by STAR WARS: Return of the Jedi! Inspired by. The message is still coming from scripture. Forgiveness is something that every one of us has to work through and we need Jesus with us to do this well. How can we forgive and what happens when we do?
We're taking inspiration from some of our favorite movies! This week we're looking at the movie UP -- it's just bringing to light a theme that we all relate to and we're looking at what the Bible has to say about that theme -- this week? Disappointment. What do we do when life doesn't go our way? How do we deal with it and what does God have to say about it?
No matter what season we're in, we can learn a lot from the experience of marriage. 2 people coming together to support, love, and build up one another -- there are lessons there for any of us in our relationships with others. Today Pastor Aaron & Sara along with Pastor Hannah & Adrian talk about lessons they've learned through marriage.
When we talk about relationships it's important to talk about singleness! It's a real part of life that everyone experiences for atleast some time. God has something to say about singleness and the benefits / joys / difficulties of life being single.
Many of us would say we know 1 thing as a constant in relationships: CONFLICT. And many of us would say we know 1 thing should be a constant: COMMUNICATION -- how do these fit in our relationships and what does the Bible say about it?
Everyone has relationships in some form and as we follow Jesus - he has a lot to say about how these relationships look and how to keep them healthy!
The Church is about Community! God is about Community! and at NCC, we want to lean into that and talk about it - encourage it - give opportunity to build community. Let's talk about Community.
Prayer is a huge part of our regular faith and life with Jesus. If we're doing this consistently and we're together a Praying Church, what would happen? What does it mean to be a "Praying Church"?
The Church - God's people - shouldn't be an exclusive group to just hang out together. God has called us to be on mission with him to find those disconnected from him and help them find their way back. The Church should be growing, should be influencing the community, should be multiplying! What does that look like and how do we do it?
What kind of church is NCC? What is the church supposed to be? We believe that God's church should be based on Scripture - not opinion or ideas or some person. God's word leads our lives together and personally.
2023 is a year of NEW for NCC. God has something great for us together and something great for each of us personally. How do we step into this NEW season well and ready for what God has?
Christmas is proof of how much God loves us. He gave everything just because he wants to be with you. It wasn't our sin that forced God to give up his son -- he sent Jesus to save us because he wanted to be close to us. He does want to be close to us and that life with him is a simple invitation waiting for us to accept.
Many of us read the Bible and think 'these people are amazing and so beyond who I could be'... but if we look closer, the people God uses are very ordinary and usually broken, super normal people. The Christmas Story proves this fact -- look at Mary and Joseph and the first people who the ANGELS tell about the birth of Jesus are Shepherds! God is looking for people just like you to partner with in the world.
Christmas is a foundational moment in history and to our faith. Jesus came to fulfill God's promise to us. God keeps his promises and Christmas proves that -- in this season, it's easy to get distracted and overwhelmed and God is promising PEACE to you and your family.
Throughout the Gospel, we read of Jesus loving those who are outcast, forgotten, even hated! He gives an incredible example of loving those who are hard to love -- we all know someone like that.
There's a story of a woman in the Bible who has a conversation with Jesus and he impacts her so deeply she can't help but go tell everyone in her town about him! What did he say? What can we learn from this story about what Yahweh wants to do with OUR story for the people around US?
There's a story in the Bible of a few friends who bring their paralytic friend to Jesus -- their faith prompts Jesus to forgive his sins and heal his body. What friends are we praying for, inviting to Jesus, standing in faith for?
WE MOVE FORWARD is a declaration at NCC - part of who we are
Describing God is an easy, and also difficult task. What does the Bible tell us about his character, about his nature? It's easy because there are such clear, important traits of his character and yet those very traits can be difficult to put into words. An important aspect of God's nature is his Immutability - how he does not change. What does that mean to us that God doesn't change? How does that help us understand him?
Describing God is an easy, and also difficult task. What does the Bible tell us about his character, about his nature? It's easy because there are such clear, important traits of his character and yet those very traits can be difficult to put into words. An important aspect of God's nature is his HOLINESS - how he is set apart. What does it mean to be holy and how does that help us understand who God is?
The song “Numb” has the lyrics, “I wanna get numb, and forget where I'm from”. This is a feeling that almost every one has felt at some point in that life to distract us from the pain we are facing. This is a hard place to be - to the point it can feel like there is no way out. In the Bible, Jesus meets a woman at a well and is able to bring a new meaning to her life and help her begin healing from that pain. Can Jesus do that for us? How can we experience that in our lives?
I just called to say I love you shares this idea to call someone up just because you love them - with no agenda. Love is a tricky thing. It's not just a feeling, but it's a decision - and to love like Jesus is difficult to do. The Bible calls us to love even people who hurt us! How do we do that? How do we show love like Jesus?
Have you ever had a relationship or friendship that you had to walk away from to where they became someone you used to know? When we begin following Jesus, our old self becomes someone that we used to know because Christ has shown us a new way to live.
At NCC we invest in the next generation and we believe that it is important to know your role in raising up our future leaders. Our students and kids are capable and already have God given gifts and talents. In the Bible we see God moving through young people time and time again with the older generation championing them.
There's a very important part of our faith that most of us don't really like talking about - but this is part of the hope we have in Jesus! That when he comes back to this earth, he will judge those living and dead and bring justice once and for all.
A foundational belief in the Christian faith is gathering together - Gathering together as the Body of Christ edifies and builds one another up, and is not limited to how these gatherings can be done - The early church operated much differently compared to how the modern church does in America, but both are still necessary we're discussing why that is today
Another foundational belief in our Christian faith - as followers of Jesus - is our belief in the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God given to us to be with us and help us. Jesus has not left us alone - this is a key part of our faith.
Our Christian faith is defined by a few core beliefs - one of which being the Supremacy of Christ. That there is ONE TRUE GOD and that is Yahweh. There are many implications of this belief and we're talking about all of it today.
There are a few foundational beliefs of the Christian faith and all of those beliefs come from one core truth that Scripture is the ultimate authority - God's active voice in our lives. What does that mean for us and how do we know that's true?
Sabbath is a gift from God to rest and enjoy life - to help us keep from the mindset of producing and moving all the time. It's a difficult practice, but a life-giving one!
Father's Day! Today we'll hear from a few Dads at NCC - some fun stories, wise advice, and Godly insight.
Everyone has preferences and biases for food, but it is wrong to have preferences against groups of people. Jonah shows his preference against the Ninevites in Jonah CH 3 & 4, but then is able to see Yahweh's character displayed to have compassion for the Ninevites even though they had done wrong.
Everyone of us has moments where we end up having to say "I was wrong, you were right... I'm sorry." Jonah finds himself in a moment like this and prays to God in Jonah CH 2. Repentance is an important part of our relationship with God and an important part for any one of us.
Listening and Obeying God by New Community Church
This week is all about what NCC is all about. Being a disciple of Jesus means more than just agreeing with some of his teachings. What's the cost? How do we grow to be more like him? Pastor AC shares about spiritual growth and discipleship at NCC
God has given NCC a vision to make 1000 disciples across 3 NCC campuses by 2025. If we are going to make it to a whole new future, we can't keep doing what we've been doing. This new frontier will require us to be obedient as God leads each of us. What is he calling you to? Let's listen and pray as He leads each of our families together.
Everyone of us experiences struggles and difficulties in life - and many of us live like we're alone in all of that! This Mother's Day we have a panel of women talking about Motherhood, the joys and struggles, and the impact of real community!
Many of us believe the lie that our life is about US - focusing on "me" can be distracting from what God's leading me to do sometimes. How do we live following the model of Jesus rather than just doing whatever feels good?
Many of us believe - whether we know it or not - that we're just not good enough for Jesus to love us. We disqualify ourselves from his love when we don't get a say in whether God loves us at all! We've never earned God's love and there's nothing we can do to lose it.
Easter morning is when we celebrate the RESURRECTION of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Before Jesus came, we were lost. And many of us are still living like we're lost today. That's why we talk about the good news of Jesus and celebrate this Sunday.
on Good Friday, we remember the moment that Jesus was betrayed, sentenced to die, and crucified on the cross. The pain and suffering Jesus went through made a way for us to be with God and have new life -- his crushing was our redemption.
It's Palm Sunday and we want to ask the question 'how are you welcoming Jesus?' The people cried Hosanna when Jesus rode into the city - calling on him to save them! There were many interpretations of this phrase and each one challenges us to welcome Jesus the right way - as our personal king and our savior.
Following Jesus takes us beyond our comfort zone -- we were put in our neighborhood, workplace, home for a reason. As followers of Jesus, we were always meant to CHANGE THE WORLD - bring transformation and the things of Jesus to people around us.
