1 John 1:7-9. "But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ, His son, cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness! The Holy Spirit Filled Life Week 6A Promise for All!
"Jesus is up front with us that there is a cost to following him," writes Craig Keener. "From God's side, the gift of him in him is free—or rather, already paid for by what Christ suffered for us. But we live in a world that challenges our faith, so from the world's side our faith is bound to cost us hardships. Yet God empowers us by his Spirit to maintain our witness for Christ in this world no matter what." In this episode of the podcast, I talk to Keener about how Pentecostal Christians should think about suffering. I'm George P. Wood, executive editor of Influence magazine and your host. Craig Keener is F.M. and Ada Thompson Professor of Biblical Studies at Asbury Theological Seminary, an ordained Assemblies of God minister, and author of Suffering: Its Meaning for the Spirit-Filled Life, published by Baker Academic. 2025-12-07 The Spirit Filled Lifeby Pastor Chris BergScripture Reference: Ephesians 5:15-2015 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, 16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil. 17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; 20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;

Pastor Colt spoke this past Sunday that we are in the midst of an awakening in our nation. Those who were sleeping are waking up! Colt spoke on the importance of the Spirit-filled life as described in Ephesians 5:1-20. He reminded us that a Spirit-filled life looks like the life that Jesus lived, and as we imitate Jesus we walk in the light and expose the darkness. Walking in the will of God happens when we are anchored in the Word of God. The same Spirit who fills us is the one who breathed these words, and He still speaks through them. When we open Scripture, we are not just reading, we are being shaped. This is how we stay awake in the midst of evil days, discern His will, and allow the light of Christ to shine through us and witness to those entrapped in the darkness. What does true gentleness look like — not as weakness, but as strength under control? In this week's Cultivate series message, Pastor Tim Ghali, Interim Teaching & Discipleship Pastor, unpacks the story of Jesus and the Samaritan Woman (John 4:1–26) to show how God's Spirit cultivates gentleness in us — especially in a world that rewards power, pride, and harshness. Jesus' gentle engagement with the woman at the well shows us how gentleness restores dignity, opens doors to transformation, and reflects the heart of God to those around us. Key Themes: Gentleness as a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23) How Jesus models strength through compassion Restoring others through Spirit-led humility Living gently in a harsh and hurried world
What a day! Listen to the podcast intro for the full story. I revisit our first episode from August 2019 to show how this podcast began and how God has kept me steadfast despite cultural shifts. My original assessments about major cities and their ongoing turmoil still hold true. I changed the byline from "equilibrium" to "peace" to clearly reflect the spiritual goal of equipping you to stand firm in a chaotic world. I'm also launching "Coffee Fueled Wisdom," a new channel to foster community online and through local gatherings, starting in Nashville and potentially expanding globally if God wills it.

In Session 5 of The Abundant Spirit-Filled Life, Marian Jordan Ellis unpacks sanctification—the Holy Spirit's ongoing work to make us more like Jesus. From Matthew 5 (“You are the light of the world”) to Galatians 5 (the fruit of the Spirit), Marian shows how God's Spirit empowers everyday obedience—patience with a long fuse, kindness in action, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness (strength under control), and Spirit-led self-control.You'll learn how:The Spirit restores us to our original purpose—to reflect God's glory (Gen 1; Matt 5:14–16).We are made perfect in Christ and being made holy (Hebrews 10:14).Abiding in Scripture is the Spirit's primary tool for transformation (John 17:17; Romans 12:2).“Beholding” Jesus leads to “becoming” like Him (2 Corinthians 3:17–18).If you're weary of striving, this message will help you trade self-effort for Spirit-empowered living—so your life shines for God's glory.
