While discussing business ideas, their Italian friend [Davide] asked if he could have a shot of Limoncello -- and all of them came to the realisation that there was no proper Limoncello brand in India. Lo & behold, an idea formed in their minds. Why not bring this traditional Italian drink to India? And that's what they're doing with Mikiamo. In this episode of 21st Century Water, Mahesh Lunani speaks with Will Pickering, CEO of Pittsburgh Water, about the transformative changes he has overseen in Pittsburgh's water infrastructure. Pickering shares his unconventional journey into utility leadership, tracing his career from public policy roles in Washington, D.C., to heading a water utility that was in dire need of reform when he joined.Pickering discusses the challenges Pittsburgh Water faced, including outdated infrastructure, lead service line contamination, and public distrust exacerbated by national crises like Flint, Michigan. Since joining in 2016, Pickering has prioritized rebuilding customer trust and modernizing the utility through strategic investments. Notably, Pittsburgh Water has replaced more than half of its lead service lines at no cost to customers, aided by federal grants and low-interest loans. This proactive approach has established the utility as a national model for lead mitigation.Pickering also highlights the utility's shift from a reactive "fix-it-when-it-breaks" model to a proactive philosophy that emphasizes long-term planning, public engagement, and affordability. A rebranding effort, launched recently, aims to unify the utility's identity and signal a break from its troubled past, while reinforcing a "one water" approach across drinking water, sewer, and stormwater services. In addressing broader challenges like climate change and infrastructure resilience, Pickering stresses the importance of preparing for unpredictable risks, from extreme weather to cybersecurity threats. Under his leadership, Pittsburgh Water is leveraging data-driven tools like asset management systems and predictive analytics to prioritize investments and extend the life of critical assets.Looking ahead, Pickering identifies affordability, regulatory compliance (particularly around emerging contaminants like PFAS and microplastics), and customer engagement as key focus areas. He envisions a utility that continues to innovate and serve as a national leader in water management, emphasizing that building a resilient, customer-focused organization is a legacy he hopes will endure long after his tenure. The episode concludes with a reflection on the importance of adaptable, forward-thinking leadership in the water sector, as Pickering's commitment to both community and operational excellence shines through.Pittsburgh Water Website: https://www.pgh2o.com/ Aquasight Website: https://aquasight.io/

"A Vision for the Future" (11-10-2024) - Rev. Carla Aday
In this episode, we chat with Mark Travers, CEO of Brazilian Nickel, a junior mining company who are planning to start nickel production in the future from the world's first stand-alone nickel laterite heap leaching operation at its Piauí Nickel Project in Brazil. Mark has over 20 years in the mining industry with Inco Limited and Vale and held progressively senior roles in legal, institutional relations, communications and sustainability. Taking the helm at Brazilian Nickel 18 month ago, Mark takes us through his journey, how Brazil is developing as a mining jurisdiction, and how Brazilian Nickel are navigating the regulatory landscape in Brazil, plus an overview of the Nickel market globally. KEY TAKEAWAYS Brazilian Nickel is pioneering the use of heap leaching technology for nickel laterites, aiming to establish a more economical and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional high-pressure acid leaching methods. The flagship Piauí Nickel Project in Brazil is expected to produce approximately 26,000 to 27,000 tons of nickel per year with a mine life exceeding 30 years. The project is nearing construction readiness, with a completed feasibility study and necessary permits in place. Nickel prioritises sustainability, boasting low carbon intensity and no tailings facilities. The company has received Nickelmark accreditation for responsible production, emphasizing its commitment to environmental and social responsibility. The nickel market faces challenges due to current economic conditions, particularly in China and Indonesia. However, there is a growing need for diversified supply chains and low-carbon nickel, positioning Brazilian Nickel to capitalise on future demand as the electric vehicle market expands. BEST MOMENTS "We want to be part of that building out and diversification of the supply chain for electric vehicle batteries being built outside of China." "The Piauí Nickel Project is based in Piauí State in the northeast of Brazil... it will produce on average about 26,000 to 27,000 tons of nickel per annum." "Sustainability is at our core... If we're going to say that this is the product to build a supply chain for electric vehicle batteries, then you need to have those credentials." "We need to diversify supply chains to build upon the Indonesian supply... and you're going to need good nickel with strong ESG credentials, low carbon nickel." The United Nations Summit in New York City showed the world what the future framework of global governance would look like, and it leads towards the eventual enslavement of humanity by unelected globalists. Internationalists from around the world met to secure their control over the population through policy instead of bullets. The “Pact for the Future” includes the Global Digital Compact as well as the Declaration on Future Generations. These policies will allow the UN to take control of disaster response globally and declare pandemics whenever they see fit, offering them unique power that will undoubtedly be abused. The discussion highlights the importance of quality assurance in maintaining the credibility of the HERS rating system, particularly as RESNET® scales its operations and engages more stakeholders. Ryan and Scott discuss how federal tax credits, builder incentives, and new technologies drive interest in HERS® ratings, particularly among large national production builders. They also touch on the potential for growth in the existing homes market, especially among companies that manage large portfolios of older properties. The conversation concludes with a call to action for HERS® raters to build capacity in anticipation of the growing demand for energy, water, and carbon ratings and energy codes services and a reminder of the importance of attending the upcoming RESNET® conference to stay informed and connected in the industry. In part 2 of this discussion, Ivor Cummins highlights the significant influence of the Rockefeller family and their collaboration with figures like Henry Kissinger in shaping a new world order. Cummins emphasizes that the Rockefeller Brothers, wielding immense financial power, sought to create a global structure affecting all aspects of life. This effort was characterized by the establishment of influential organizations like the Trilateral Commission and the United Nations, aimed at fostering a totalitarian world order. Cummins argues that this represents fascism and corporatocracy, where corporate power merges with government influence, as evidenced by entities like the World Economic Forum (WEF). Funded by major corporations such as Microsoft, IBM, and Goldman Sachs, the WEF exemplifies the unification of corporate and state power, echoing Mussolini's definition of fascism. This corporatocracy manipulates global narratives, using crises like pandemics and climate change to enforce control and push their agenda, reflecting a profound corporatist influence over global governance. https://thefatemperor.com/ #RockefellerInfluence #NewWorldOrder #TrilateralCommission #UnitedNations #Fascism #Corporatocracy #WEF #CorporatePower #GlobalGovernance #PandemicControl #ClimateChangeAgenda #CorporateState #GlobalElite #PowerAndInfluence https://webinarkit.com/webinar/registration/6668a76c3b56579b5df1f85d Key Takeaways: Jason's editorial 1:29 A glimpse of San Francisco's housing shortage Ivor Cummins interview part 2 2:42 The Rockefeller Studies project and fascism 8:22 Turning any nation into a nation of pigs 10:21 Creating Global "challenges" and its funding partners 14:45 Bill Gates and the influence of the rich and powerful 20:33 Negative and positive stories Follow Jason on TWITTER, INSTAGRAM & LINKEDIN Twitter.com/JasonHartmanROI Instagram.com/jasonhartman1/ Linkedin.com/in/jasonhartmaninvestor/ Call our Investment Counselors at: 1-800-HARTMAN (US) or visit: https://www.jasonhartman.com/ Free Class: Easily get up to $250,000 in funding for real estate, business or anything else: http://JasonHartman.com/Fund CYA Protect Your Assets, Save Taxes & Estate Planning: http://JasonHartman.com/Protect Get wholesale real estate deals for investment or build a great business – Free Course: https://www.jasonhartman.com/deals Special Offer from Ron LeGrand: https://JasonHartman.com/Ron Free Mini-Book on Pandemic Investing: https://www.PandemicInvesting.com
