But before you panic-buy a giant teddy bear or a heart-shaped box of chocolates, let's take a moment to appreciate the unsung heroes of this romantic holiday: florists. Have you ever wondered how florists prepare for the surge of orders and the details behind crafting those stunning arrangements that capture the essence of love? Well Nichole Campbell, owner of Petal Pusher Floral Studio and Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Florists Association president, says they actually began prepping all the way back in December. She shares more about how she gears up for the valentines day rush and other trends throughout the year. While roses remain a favorite, other flowers are also in high demand during this romantic season. Tulips, in particular, have gained popularity, especially in regions where winter seems endless. "We make thousands of deliveries and go through thousands of stems of flowers on Valentine's Day alone," says Campbell. Freely, God gave His Son Jesus for everyone proceeding out of the human race. Freely, the blood of Christ was poured out as a libation for the remission of the sin of mankind and freely, we have been given access to divinity. It is this access into this realm of living that has made our lives shatterproof. Since we are determined to continue to walk in the fullness of God's love, our lives will remain failure-proof.  In Christ Jesus, all things consist. This means that everything is held together by the power of God's unfailing love. When our lives are healed together in God's love, we are kept safe from shattering under the pressure that comes from doing life with other people. The love of God holds our lives together, ensuring that we do not disintegrate or degenerate.  We are delighted to welcome you to the concluding episode of the True Love in Bloom Series titled SHATTERPROOF.

It is bloom time! When it is bloom time, people should bloom. Sadly, too many times, many people are waiting for their own idea of what true love is before they bloom. Your life does not begin when someone is added to you. Rather, your life begins with the revelation of the love of God for you. It is therefore amazing how people put their lives on hold, withholding themselves from experiencing bloom until a significant other comes. The married ones also cease to intentionally receive the love and affection of the Father, because their focus has shifted to the one they have fallen in love with.  Here is a statement of truth - no one can love you like Jesus, except of course they have received the Love of Jesus for themselves. This is a fact. If you struggle with it, it is because you are not aware of how loving Jesus is. No one should take the place of Jesus in your heart. No one. We think people should be going deeper in the love of God for them so that they're able to give the love they have received.  How is life going to mirror what true love is if your heart does not resonate with the love that God has for you? True love is only in bloom when it has mirrored and effectively received the love that God has revealed in Christ Jesus. You cannot love outside Love Himself!  Experience joy and bliss as we present to you the love of God which must be received, to be given.

Simple and straightforward, that is how the Father's love is to us. Easy to use and easy to understand, that is how God has demonstrated His unfailing love toward us. True love is uncomplicated. Any element that introduces mysteriousness to love is not from the Father.  The only thing that makes love to become complicated is the human will that has refused to be subject to God's grace. When the will of man stands strong against the Father's heart, then you'd begin to see all sorts of complications. Think about it. How straightforward is life in heaven? Your guess is as good as mine- pretty straightforward, right? Do you know why? Bet you do. In heaven, the human will does not contend with God's design.  In this episode, we desire to teach and train our hearts to align our human will to the Father's design, submitting to Him and allowing Him to reign over our hearts. If we all choose to love the way God does, there will be no complications.

Susie has had some ups and downs.  Losing everything to a wildfire, that's a down.  Becoming a movie star is an up.  You see what I mean.  Two days ago she added another movie, Love In Bloom, to her portfolio.  It's on Great American Family, which is fitting because we ourselves are a great American family.  Depending on who you ask, of course.  Others might use different words. And speaking of families, Heather is one of the people spearheading a study called 10,000 families, which aims to collect information from - fittingly - 10,000 Minnesota families to try and determine if any lifestyle or environmental differences between the two might give us more insight into the way they impact health.  Medical science still has a long way to go.  Most doctors denied the link between cigarettes and lung cancer as late as the 70s.  So make sure to participate in the study and maybe you can prevent your children from doing some harmful thing that you did back when we didn't know it was harmful.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The resurrection means that love is in bloom in the new creation of Jesus.  Love is volitional -gracious, self-giving, restorative actions toward others.  When we encounter God's love regularly, it moves us to worship and on the basis of worship into love toward others.  This love not only gives us a deeper knowledge of God, but makes an invisible God tangible to an onlooking world.

#70 - Writing For Passion, not Trends, with Melissa Foster

In episode 70, Christine Munroe interviews bestselling romance author Melissa Foster. Over 7 years of self-publishing, Melissa has tons of insightful advice to offer, including why authors should stick to their passion instead of chasing trends, and why she will always manage her own social media and all public-facing marketing efforts. Tune in to hear them discuss: Melissa published her first book in 2009. She's now released over 50 English-language titles, including 15 last year, and 13 in 2016 She started by approaching agents, and could paper her walls with rejection letters Her first published book was Megan's Way, and she sold over 100k copies of it over the first year Today she works with a literary agent for her work in translation. She submitted one book for traditional publishers recently, but decided to not make a deal because they couldn't offer more than she could accomplish on her own. “I'm pretty much indie to stay now unless something fabulous comes up” One major concern about using a traditional publisher is the high list price – she wants to keep her readers happy with a price they can afford. That's more important to her than getting a traditional publisher. They also can't keep up with her publishing schedule – the best publishers could offer is once every 4 months, which isn't enough for all of her series she has going right now She's a “chat-a-holic” on social media and does all of her social media herself EverAfter Romance is handling her paperback distribution for her into bookstores She works with a developmental and copy editor, then a group of 5 copyeditors, to make sure every book is clean before it hits the market Why and how she has incorporated LGBT romance into her Harborside Nights series. There's a lesbian couple and a gay couple – it never occurred to her to separate out a couple because of their sexual preference. Some authors warned her that she might alienate her core audience but that hasn't happened “I would encourage any author who feels passionate about a story not to hold back on writing it simply because other people think it's not a good idea…my thought going into this is that I trust my readers” Best advice for launching a new book: 1) Be everywhere. 2) Advertise outside of the typical avenues for your genre – look to the subthemes of your book and get a wider audience Think of branding in a broad way. For example, imagine your covers being identifiable by site on a shelf. Also, brand at a price bracket - don't start by putting all of your books at $.99; brand at the price where you want to end up What she wishes she would have done differently along the way – she handed off managing her social media to someone for a little while, but that did not go well. She gets significant value from connecting with them directly, herself She also doesn't advise trying to chase trends and figure out what made other people successful. Publishing changes so quickly that if you're writing for a trend, it may have shifted by the time your book is ready to publish. Also, often marketing efforts are happening behind the scenes, and you can't know from external research what went into making a book or author successful “Every authorship is different…. You have to figure out your readership and how you fit with them” It is absolutely essential to get your book edited – you are a representative of independently published authors and books. Don't rush to publish; if you can't afford a good editor, wait to publish until you can Your best marketing plan is always writing your next book Melissa Foster writes sexy and heartwarming contemporary romance, new adult romance and women's fiction with emotionally compelling characters that stay with you long after you turn the last page. Readers adore Melissa's fun, flirty, and sinfully sexy, award-winning big family romance collection, LOVE IN BLOOM featuring the Snow Sisters, Bradens, Remingtons, Ryders, Seaside Summer, Harborside Nights, and the Wild Boys After Dark. Melissa's emotional journeys are lovingly erotic, perfect beach reads, and always family oriented.

Welcome to Glenn Robison's Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can't *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and '30s. On this evening's show we're gonna roll ‘em, celebrate the birthday of Bing, introduce a new segment to the show, and listen to this past week in recording history. Enjoy the show! Here’s the complete playlist: Segment 1: PollyLast week I had the great pleasure of attending the theater organ concert at The Nethercutt Collection in Sylmar. The artist was Martin Ellis, and one of the songs he played at the concert at San Sylmar was his own arrangement for theater organ of a “finger buster” titled “Polly”. Given the parameters of the show, I can't play Martin's recording of “Polly”, but I do have a few other Polly’s to play. Polly – Percival Mackey When Polly Walks Through The Hollyhocks – Ben Bernie and His Hotel Roosevelt Orchestra / Scrappy Lambert & Billy Hillpot, v. Polly-Olly-O – Green Brothers Novelty Band Segment 2: Bing CrosbyMay 3 marked the birth in Tacoma, Washington in 1903 of Harry Lillis Crosby, better known as “Bing”, Ho-Hum – Gus Arnheim AHO / Bing Crosby & Loyce Whiteman, v. Love In Bloom – Irving Aarson ah Commanders Livin' In The Sunlight, Lovin' In The Moonlight – Paul Whiteman AHO / Bing Crosby Segment 3: RollingAt Ian Whitcomb's Monday evening salon one of the group brought a number of pieces of vintage sheet music to show, one of which was a song called “Roll ‘em, Girls”. Those unfamiliar with the song, guessed that it had to do with rolling cigarettes, until they read the lyrics – and now you get to find out what it's about (and a few other Rolling songs) Roll ‘em Girls – Billy Murray / Jack Shilkret AHO Roll Out Of Bed With A Smile – Eddie Stone, v. Roll Down The Line – Allen Brothers I Just Roll Along – Ben Bernie Segment 4: For No Particular ReasonThis evening, for no particular reason, is a set of rapidly rotating records about stairs. Climbing The Stairs – Jack Denny Orch / Scrappy Lambert, v. Sitting On The Stairs (Counting The Stars) – Charles W. Hamp Upstairs – Stuff Smith and His Onyx Club Boys Segment 5: This Week in Recording HistoryIt's here where we play rapidly rotating records celebrating birthdays, having been recorded this past week in years past.
