We tend to forget about the Holy Spirit. It's helpful to understand the Holy Spirit in the context of the Trinity. To do so, often people reach for metaphors, but all metaphors fail at some point. As we work to understand God the Holy Spirit, it seems like the Spirit is a backseat member of the Trinity because Jesus gets so much attention. However, the Holy Spirit is a fully active member of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is fully God, though, at times, the forgotten God.

https://newsongpeople.com/messages/the-forgotten-godYou were never meant to live the Christian life alone—and you don't have to. God didn't just invite you into something beautiful; He gave you Himself to help you walk it out. In this message, discover who the Holy Spirit really is: not just a force or feeling, but a divine person sent to remind you what's true, help you see Jesus clearly, and empower you to live fully into the love you've been brought into.
What if the power you need to live with purpose is already at work within you? In this message from the Forgotten God series, Pastor Jarian Felton walks through 1 Corinthians 12 to show how the Holy Spirit equips ordinary people with unique gifts meant to make a real difference. This teaching invites us to move past comparison, doubt, and feeling stuck and instead discover how God has intentionally placed strength, ability, and calling inside each of us. Learn how your gifts are not just for personal growth, but for serving others, building community, and stepping confidently into a life that truly matters. (05/03/2026)
In week three of the Forgotten God series, Pastor Trey Hildebrant unpacks where real strength comes from when life feels like a constant fight. This message helps us see that many of our struggles are deeper than habits, stress, or circumstances and invites us to recognize the unseen influences shaping our thoughts, choices, and relationships. Drawing from Ephesians 6, Pastor Trey encourages us to stop fighting people and situations and instead learn how to stand firm with the strength God provides through the Holy Spirit. This sermon offers practical guidance on living with clear priorities, grounding our minds in truth, and relying on prayer as a source of real power so we can walk in freedom, peace, and confidence even in the middle of life's toughest battles. Can people really change at the core or are we stuck as we are? In this message from the Forgotten God series, Pastor Trey Hildebrant walks through the powerful story of the Apostle Paul to show how real, lasting change is possible when we stop relying on self-improvement and open our lives to God's Spirit at work within us. This teaching explores how transformation can happen both in defining moments and through steady, everyday growth as we surrender control, build healthy rhythms like prayer and scripture, and stay connected to community. Whether you feel stuck, distant, or hungry for something more, this message offers hope that new life, freedom, and purpose are not only possible but available right where you are. (04/19/2026)
This might not be word-for-word because I had to shorten it to meet the new character limit for this section. Some people like to read along while they listen, and I want to explain that it might not match up perfectly. He Is Series El Kanna — The Jealous God (God Who Pursues You) When You Feel Forgotten, God Is Still Pursuing You Exodus 34:14 “For you shall worship no other god, because the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.” Today, we are looking at the name El Kanna — The Jealous God. This might seem a bit harsh at first. We've all seen jealousy in people, and it usually isn't healthy. I was in a relationship with a very jealous person once, and it wasn't good. That's not the kind of jealousy we're talking about with God. We are imperfect, so when we feel jealous, it can come out as bitterness, control, or pettiness. But God's jealousy is different. God loves us so much that He cares when we turn away from Him. He cares when we stray from the path. Right before this verse, Exodus 34:12-13 warns not to make covenants with the people of the land because it will become a trap. God knew that following the ways of the world would pull them into things they didn't want to do. It's like when you make a new friend and they invite you to do something you don't really want to do, but you say yes anyway. I remember going to a horror movie with a new friend—I hate horror movies, but I went just to keep the peace. That's not a big deal, but what if it was something more serious? What if they invited you into something harmful, and little by little you got pulled in? We are called to live in the world, but not be of the world. We are meant to be examples of Christ. But sometimes we forget and begin to love the things of this world. We may think this doesn't apply to us because we don't have false gods like in the Old Testament. But today there are more idols than ever. We treat influencers, celebrities, athletes, and entertainment like they are everything. We give them our time, attention, and admiration. If we look at our lives honestly, we can begin to understand why God cares so deeply about where our attention and love go. If you look at your day, can you see why God might be jealous? If you look at who or what gets most of your time, can you understand it? God wants an intimate relationship with you. He sent His Son to die on the cross so He could be close to you. When you see it this way, His jealousy makes sense. But He is not jealous like we are. He is not controlling, petty, or trying to get even. He is not going to hurt us because we hurt Him. God is jealous because He loves us too much to lose us to sin. He is jealous because He wants more for us. I love the saying: God meets us where we are, but He loves us too much to leave us there. He knows how valuable you are. He believes you are worth fighting for. If God weren't jealous, that would be the real problem. That would mean He didn't care if we wandered away or headed toward destruction. We often want to believe we can do whatever we want and still end up in heaven because God loves us. But the Bible tells us clearly that we are called to love God with all our heart, mind, and soul. Are we doing that? Are we putting Him first? If not, it helps us understand why God calls us back. He is protective because He loves us. He doesn't ignore us while we go the wrong way. He doesn't just focus on those who are doing well. He wants all of His children with Him in heaven. Do you know what that means? It means God is actively pursuing you. He is chasing after you. He is fighting for you because you are worth fighting for—even if you don't believe that. God is not content to let you go down the wrong road. He is not content to watch you chase things that will only lead to emptiness. He is jealous in all the good ways—and we are so blessed that He is. Dear El Kanna, I ask that you bless each person listening. Thank you for loving us so deeply that you pursue us. Help us stay on the right path. Show us where we have gone astray and gently lead us back. We want to stay close to you. We love you, Lord, and ask this in Jesus's name, Amen. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. If something in you has been stirred lately—like you want more of God—that's not random. That's an invitation. And if you're ready to respond, I would love to walk with you in the mentoring group. You can join through the link in the show notes or at walkboldlywithjesus.com. Week One of our new sermon series Holy Spirit with Pastor Adam Starling.
What do we really believe about the Holy Spirit, and why does it matter for everyday life? In this message from the Forgotten God series, Pastor Trey Hildebrant walks through the core theology of the Holy Spirit and shows how God's presence is meant to shape our thinking, choices, and direction. Drawing from John 14 through 16 and Romans 8, this teaching helps clear away confusion and brings practical clarity to who the Holy Spirit is and how He works in the lives of believers. This message invites us to move beyond dry or distant faith and rediscover a living, active relationship with God that transforms how we live each day. (04/12/2026)

In this moving installment of the Rachel Prayed series, Bishop Omar Thibeaux teaches that even when believers feel forgotten in their waiting, God has never lost sight of them. Through Rachel's story, this message reveals that divine remembrance is really divine action in the right season. With tenderness, theology, and power, Bishop Omar reminds listeners that God's thoughts toward His people are precious, His love is unwavering, and nothing can separate us from His love in Christ Jesus.
When Jesus says they will do even greater things once He has left, how is that possible when all we have is the promise of the Holy Spirit. Do we underestimate the person, presence and power of the Holy Spirit in our lives? The Spirit has transforming power in the lives of believers, producing holiness and likeness to Jesus (Sanctification). It is the Holy Spirit who can pray and intercede for us (Intercession). The Holy Spirit is our teacher and guide who is sent by the Father (Teacher & Guide).

The Holy Spirit is the active expression of God on Earth. We are missing deep connection with God if we are not interacting with the Holy Spirit, forming a relationship with the Holy Spirit. He is the upgrade that we are offered, He is the one that is with us, guiding us, available to us now

We are desperate to try to figure how to live this life with God at the center and not me. Its our lifelong journey as Christians. Do we realize that the Holy Spirit is at work, that without it we can do nothing of significance. In our first Sunday in the series, I want to introduce the idea of the Holy Spirit as Jesus did in John 14. I want to reassure folks that its ok that they dont understand, but its not ok to fully set aside the Holy Spirit as unneeded or wanted in their lives. I want to help folks realize its not as far away as they feel, the Holy Spirit is not as complicated as we make it. And at the same time, its filled with wonder and mystery and unexplainable.

Hope Church - Never Alone. Never Forgotten_ God With Us - 12_14_25 by Hope Church Utah
Presented by Lauren Stibgen As Christians, we often consider ourselves servant leaders, but how was this phrase born into our business vocabulary as something to aspire to whether you are a follower of Jesus or not? And why do we consider servant leadership biblical at all? First, for those of you who missed the conversation about the roots of servant leadership in secular business, it all began in 1970 when Robert Greenleaf mused over an allegory about a servant who ended up being a leader of a great band of men. This story was not biblical, but it sparked the thought that those who serve with an others-first focus can become some of the greatest leaders; more than leaders who are bestowed with a title who desire power, authority, and self-focused gratification. The phrase servant leader is not specifically found in the Bible. How many times is the word leader even used in the Bible? Just a quick look in my Bible's concordance—you know the list of words in the back with references to verses—the word leader is not listed. Only, lead, leads and led. People who lead are listed. Rulers along with kings, but both rulers and kings would better describe appointed positions of authority. In the New Testament, the word diakonia—meaning servant or service—is the most used word to describe people in leadership. Not surprising the words servant, servants, serve, and service take up much more space in the concordance than any of the other “official” terms for the appointed offices. Perhaps this is why we are drawn to the term servant leader as followers of Jesus. It is deeply connected to the Word of God in describing those in the early church. In Romans 16:1 speaks of Phoebe, a servant and patron of the church. 1 Corinthians 3:5 exhorts, What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. We know each of these servants were in fact leaders of the early church. All early church leaders had one thing in common—submission and obedience to the will of God in their lives. They looked to their relationship with God in Jesus before even considering the work before them. In his book, Forgotten God, Francis Chan sums up our need for seeking and submission well in his introduction when he writes, “…as believers we can never be done with God. He is infinite and we are finite; there will always be more of his character to discover, more of his love to experience and more of his power to use for his purposes.”[1] More of his power—not my power—to lead. His power made perfect through me for his purposes. True servant leadership begins in submission to God through Christ Jesus. We see this throughout Scripture. We see the success of those who submit themselves to the Lord's will and the failure and despair of those who choose to lead by selfish ambition and pride. True servant leadership as a follower of Jesus Christ starts with a posture of submission. Is this on a leadership description for your next job—must be willing to submit. We can all say probably not. But are you willing to submit in order to become a better servant leader? God rarely uses the shiny, well-educated people to make the biggest impact for his kingdom. Remember, the disciples were mostly fishermen and a tax collector! So, if you are submitted, be prepared for God to use you as a servant leader right where you are! I have thought a lot about the Old Testament prophet Elijah. Submission to the will of God was most of his story, and God used him to glorify himself during a deeply sinful time filled with idol worship. Found in 1 Kings, God used Elijah to give word to Ahab of a drought in the land. During this time, the Lord sent Elijah away where ravens and a non-Israelite widow provided for him! We learn he stayed by a river for a while, and when it dried up, Elijah moved on. He was completely reliant on God and obedient to his call. Finally,
Are you living spirit aware or spirit forgotten? On Walking Worthy, Julie Busteed and Lauren Stibgen talk about the book The Forgotten God by Francis Chan, the unity of the trinity, and how the Holy Spirit moves in our lives. They also discuss: The presence of the Holy Spirit in creation. The role of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Why the church sometimes stays away from the Holy Spirit. What Colossians 1:29 says about the power of the Holy Spirit. Why we need to abide and how to be obedient to calls. The notion of will for our life and identity at work. The transformation from the caterpillar to the butterfly.
The Holy Spirt is sometimes referred to as the Forgotten God. We think we know how to relate to the Father and to Jesus the Savior/Son. But what do you do with the Holy Spirit? Paul tells us to be filled with the Spirit? Great. What does that mean and how does it happen? It all sounds a bit mystical and even weird. Yet it is by being filled with the Spirit that we most closely experience the presence of the Father and the Son. Join us as we explore all of this—along with the difference the Spirit can make in your life.
The Horse That Would Not LeaveThe Solar Horse That Wouldn't Let Me GoSome ideas arrive like strangers. Others show up like old friends you had forgotten, standing at the edge of memory, waiting. The Solar Horse came to me like that. I was reading along, tracing through the histories and mythologies of the Levant, when I found a reference to horses dedicated to the sun in ancient Judah. That was it. No explanation. No story. Just a brief note that they were there and then, later, they were gone. The more I searched, the thinner the record became, until there was almost nothing at all. And yet I couldn't let it go. Recognition hit me first, and obsession followed. It felt like remembering one of my childhood companions, one of those “imaginary” friends who was never entirely imaginary. The truth is: we don't know much. We have a few scattered pieces. The book of Kings tells us that Josiah tore down the stables near the temple where horses and chariots were kept for the sun. Archaeologists have uncovered small figurines of horses with sun disks pressed between their ears. A cult stand from Tanakh shows layers of sacred imagery, possibly Asherah at the base, guardians in the middle, and at the very top, a horse carrying the sun on its back. That's all. We can guess. We can imagine. But we can't reconstruct what was actually done, what prayers were said, or how those who made those offerings understood them. The fragments end exactly where the mystery begins.Still, that was enough. I wasn't frustrated by the gaps. I was fascinated. Awe and wonder rose up, along with a strange sense of homecoming. This was not just curiosity. It felt like invitation. The Solar Horse began showing up in my dreams. It walked with me in meditation. It carried vitality like sunlight into places that had felt dim and tired. Companion. Messenger. That is how I came to know it.Horses at the GatePart of what makes this image so striking is its place in the story of the temple. Picture yourself approaching Jerusalem's great sanctuary in the days before Josiah's reforms. Before you ever reached the outer courtyard, you would pass the stables. Horses and chariots stood there, dedicated to the sun. For many people, depending on their gender and social standing, that courtyard might have been as far as they could go. The stables themselves marked a threshold: animals and vehicles made holy, waiting at the edge of divine space.Josiah's purge is how we know this devotion existed at all. His campaign to centralize power into one temple, one priesthood, one story required tearing down the rest. The stables were destroyed. The horses were led away. The practice was erased from official memory. The king who claimed divine sanction for his rule rewrote the faith to fit his vision of empire. And the irony is that his rashness also led to Judah's downfall. His defeat on the battlefield opened the door to the exile. I admit I have little patience for Josiah. The texts celebrate him, but the story behind the story is harder to ignore. Propaganda always is. It is easier to blame exile on sin than to admit a king picked the wrong fight. But tucked inside that propaganda is a memory of the horses. Fragments and OfferingsThose votive figurines tell us something important: people loved this image. They shaped clay horses with sun-disks between their ears and left them at shrines. They carried them as offerings. They prayed through them. We may never know exactly what they asked for, but the practice was common enough that archaeologists find these figures again and again. That persistence says something. Symbols that matter endure. We see echoes elsewhere too. Across the region, sun gods were imagined as riders or charioteers. Shamash drove his team across the heavens. In other traditions, the sun itself mounted a horse. Mythology is not a single stream but a braided river, carrying many currents. The Solar Horse was one of them, important enough to leave marks in both text and artifact, even if its full story was never written down. That is where my research stalled. I could compare, speculate, draw parallels, but no complete account survives. And still, the image pressed in. Sometimes all scholarship can do is show the edges of the mystery. Beyond that, something else takes over.Dreams and VisitationsThe Solar Horse did not remain in my study notes. It came with me into sleep. It showed up in dreams. It walked through my inner grove in meditation. I began to feel its presence not as a historical curiosity but as a living archetype. Not a relic of the past, but a companion and a messenger in the present. It bore vitality. It carried messages. It insisted on relationship. This is where honesty matters. I cannot claim to be reconstructing an ancient devotion. I am not. What I have is an image, a handful of fragments, and a series of encounters that belong to the realm of unverified personal gnosis. Dreams. Meditations. Symbols that keep knocking until you answer. What I can do is name the difference. This is not history. This is mysticism. And still, it is real.Parallels and ResonancesOther traditions helped me make sense of the experience. In Tibetan and Mongolian practice, the Wind Horse carries the wish-fulfilling jewel, galloping across the sky. If you've ever seen a set of prayer flags, you've likely seen it printed there. In druid teaching, Nwyfre is the name given to the bright current of life-force that runs through everything. Scripture itself says of God:“He makes the clouds his chariot. He walks on the wings of the wind.”(Psalm 104:3, WEB)These resonances do not mean the Solar Horse is secretly the Wind Horse, or that the psalmist was sneaking in a horse reference. They mean that certain images rise again and again when people try to describe vitality, balance, and the presence of the Holy. They emerge not from theft but from convergence. The cosmos calls, and we answer in the languages we know. For me, the Solar Horse braided those threads together. My lunar practices taught me to listen. My earth-rooted practices taught me to stay. Through this image I learned something I had always lacked: how to move with solar energy, how to let vitality flow outward without burning myself or others. That is what the Horse began to teach me.Balance and the EquinoxThe more I sat with this image, the more I felt its call to balance. In many myths the sun's horse carried messages between realms, bearing souls from the land of the living to the land of the dead, and back again. That threshold role matters. As the Autumnal Equinox approaches, equal day and equal night, I cannot help but see the Horse holding the sun steady in its stride, refusing to collapse light into darkness or darkness into light. Balance is not compromise. It is courage: the willingness to walk with both radiance and shadow without making either an enemy. That is what the Solar Horse began to embody for me. A living archetype that refuses the binaries empire prefers: all light or all dark, all power or all surrender, all purity or all exile. Instead it moves between, carrying vitality where it is needed, guiding us to walk steady where extremes would tear us apart.Invocation and ReflectionThis is not about reviving a forgotten Judahite cult. It is about listening when a symbol knocks, when dreams return, when an image refuses to let you go. For me, that image has become prayer:Great Horse of the Sun, bearer of bright life, carry to us the strength we need for the work ahead. Lend courage to our words and compassion to our deeds. Bear our prayers across the wind to those who need them most. Return with the truths we avoid and the hope we have forgotten. Teach us to ride in balance, equal day and equal night, so the world may be healed by our passing.Recognition is not superstition. Sometimes it is grace returning in a form our lives can finally bear. I do not know who first pressed a sun-disk between a horse's ears and called it holy. I only know that when the image came, I felt at home, as if something old had found me again. When such a visitor arrives, do not rush to explain it away. Turn toward it. Test it. Walk with it for a season. Let it teach you courage. Let it show you balance. That is enough to begin. Thanks for reading! Main Point. The God we forget is also the God who faithfully delivers us. Driving Question. What happens when God is forgotten? (3 lessons from this text): Drifting from Truth – (vv. 6–10). Devotion to Counterfeits – (vv. 11–15). Delivered by God – (vv. 16–19). 1. Drifting from Truth (6–10) "All it takes is one generation to forget the gospel, and we are always one generation away from losing it". D.A. Carson Apply: Love God and prioritize Christ and the Gospel. Be diligent to teach your children the goodness and glory of God. 2. Devotion to Counterfeits (11–15) What do you trust in and treasure more than God? 3. Delivered by God (16–19) Interpretive key for the book of Judges: Idolatry Judgment and bondage to a foreign enemy Cries out to the Lord Salvation: through a Judge (12 judges in the book) Judge dies, people return to idolatry God's evaluation (20–3:6) Application. Sometimes God doesn't remove trials immediately, because they reveal what we really love. Takeaways. Pluralism is a great evil in God's sight. God disciplines his people who compromise. Build your family on the word of God and the One who saves.
A popular book on the Holy Spirit is titled The Forgotten God. In the modern era, so much time and dialogue is rightly spent on the Father and the Son that the Holy Spirit is oftentimes mistakenly rendered a confusing afterthought. I hope you will join us as we search God's Word for the truth about the Holy Spirit's role in Everyday Evangelism!

In certain churches, the Holy Spirit is talked about as something you experience during worship, when the music crescendos and you get a surge of emotions. Or, when we're praying about a decision and we feel a warmth in our chest, we think that that's the Holy Spirit telling us which way to go.
In some churches, you'll hear a lot of talk about God the Father and Jesus Christ, but the Holy Spirit seems to sort of get pushed to the side. In other churches, people focus so much on trying to hear from the Holy Spirit, that they'll interpret anything and everything as a sign from him. So which side is more biblical? What role is the Holy Spirit supposed to play in our churches and in our lives? Pastor J.D. unpacks those questions as he continues our new series called, Rushing Wind.
When most people try to picture God the Father, they think of him sitting on a throne in heaven. And when we try to picture Jesus, we imagine a bearded carpenter, maybe holding a lamb. But the Holy Spirit can be a little bit harder to relate with! In our series called, "Rushing Wind," Pastor J.D. gets in-depth with what the Bible tells us about the Holy Spirit: who he is, what he does, and how he's working in our world today.
Americans are prone to get caught up in the game of left vs. right and Blue team vs. Red team. Unfortunately, Satan uses this game to sidetrack us from the real battle: good vs. evil. Whittaker Chambers said that there are only two choices: God or man. When we believe man is the solution to our problems, we deny the power of God. When we are fearful, we become desperate, and desperation creates the conditions for us to accept solutions that sound good, but ultimately lead to destruction. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/curtisbowers00/support
