Listeners of Rachel Watches Star Trek that love the show mention: rachel and chris, chris and rachel, watches star trek, never seen star,The Rachel Watches Star Trek podcast is a refreshing and entertaining addition to the world of Star Trek podcasts. With its unique perspective from a woman's point of view, this show offers fresh insights and beautiful connections to the original series that may have been overlooked by other podcasts dominated by male voices. Hosts Rachel and Chris do an excellent job of recognizing inconsistencies in the show without turning their discussions into a podcast of complaints. Instead, they provide humorous and enjoyable conversations that keep listeners engaged.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is Rachel's genuine enthusiasm and interest in Star Trek The Original Series. As someone who had not watched the show in over 40 years, her fresh and honest takes on each episode make for compelling listening. Her excitement and curiosity shine through, making even the most familiar episodes feel new again. Paired with Chris' familiarity with the series as a long-time fan, their combination provides a balanced and captivating dynamic that keeps listeners hooked.
The production qualities of this podcast are top-notch, with excellent sound quality and structure. The episodes are well-paced and perfectly timed, ensuring an enjoyable listening experience without any dull moments. The conversations between Rachel and Chris are sharp, funny, and informative, making it a delight for both die-hard Star Trek fans and newcomers alike. Additionally, the podcast offers bonus content for Patreon subscribers, creating a sense of community among listeners.
While there are many positive aspects to this podcast, one potential downside is the discussion around Burnham's role in Capt Georgiou's death in Star Trek Discovery. Some listeners may find frustration with how Rachel and Chris seem to dismiss Georgiou's agency and responsibility in favor of blaming Burnham entirely. This attitude ignores Georgiou's decision-making during those crucial moments leading to her death and oversimplifies the complexity of Burnham's actions. However, this criticism does not overshadow the overall enjoyment provided by the podcast.
In conclusion, The Rachel Watches Star Trek podcast is a must-listen for all Star Trek fans. The combination of Rachel's fresh perspective and Chris' familiarity with the series creates a captivating and entertaining experience. With excellent production qualities, sharp conversations, and a perfect episode length, this podcast stands out among others in the genre. While there may be minor disagreements with certain discussions, the overall charm and enjoyment provided by Rachel and Chris make it well worth a listen.

Even my 98-year-old mum knew what that means.Peter Larsen - An author I follow has a son with autism who communicates almost entirely via song lyrics and dialogue from TV. He can make his needs known, but only because his parents have spent his entire life learning the context of the quotes. So there are people out there who communicate like this, but it doesn't work very well for a society where people might assign different meanings to the same phrase.Jake Wilson - It's impossible for us to infer the complexity of their language, just as it is for someone reading the Chinese/Japanese 'alphabet' to infer the meaning of the character for sun/light/masculinity/etc by looking at the brush strokes and figuring out what they depict. And impossible, without education, to know that placing it next to the character that represents the concept of harmonious natural balance creates a name that sounds nothing like the characters individually.
