Forget Resolutions: Choose a Theme to Thrive in 2025!

Yes!  You are in!  How are you doing with your New Year's resolutions?  1&Done?  More likel NoneDone  Per Greg, most people fail their resolutions by January 14th!  So you are not alone.  What works?  Lasting change?  Here you go...Yes, thank you again Marcus and the ThursDudes for that priceless nugget.  Listener, you are trying to do all these things yet do you have the Ultimate Power Source involved?  Do you know the verse Pro 19:21?Proverbs 19:21 says, "Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails". Pro 16:9 says, We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.Pro 16:3 says, Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.Doesn't mean you don't plan and go for it.  It does mean you best check your goals with God.  And also don't be surprised when your plans change.  Can you imagine how much better our anxiety levels would be if we could make peace with that.  Confession, I'm still working on this.Versed listeners, your goal for life is clear, to become more Christ like each day.  Can you imagine this world if we all did that?  No more wars, no more killing, no more terrorist strikes, no more mass shootings, etc.  Ok, odds are that you don't commit horrific acts.  Yet being more Christ like is loving God with all your heart, soul and mind.  This includes daily in the Word, praying, fasting and of course loving others.  Check Matt 22: 36-40.  Confession, I have room for improvement.  So do you.  How do I know that?  Check Rom 3:23.  If you think your poop doesn't stink, that is a serious problem right there.For those inspired, I am reading Practicing the Way by John Mark Comer right now.  Next you need a small/accountability group.  To learn more about Marcus, Greg, the Dudes, Alpha, Rooted, GCrossSurf, hit us up at the contact page at FriDudes.comNow go, Love God, ask him what you should be doing this year, read the Bible to get your answers, all of it, not just an isolated portion to justify something (that's where people go rogue and justify evil in their minds).  Next love others, that includes the ones not so lovable.  I love you, go...

Thank you Dr. Lorrits!  That is getting real and pursuing Truth.  How do you handle when things don't go your way?  Prayers not answered?  That is key part of the test of life and Faith.  If you would like to hear more of that play of the day, check out the Bryan Lorrits Podcast, that episode is entitled, "Jesus, Bread of Life...John 6", published on the 11th of March, 2024.What is blessed?  Perhaps you have everything perfect in your life right now.  How about that person who lost a child?  Or battling cancer?  Are they not blessed?  Before you answer that, for you that are versed in the Word, did the best go through the best or the worst?  Job, Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Joshua, Ruth, Joseph, David, Jesus, almost all his disciples.  They all went through brutal and unfairness. Show me a person going to church and treating God like a genie in a bottle and I'll say that's human.  Show me still going to church and praying and keeping the Faith despite hardship and unanswered prayers and I'll say that is a strong, true follower of Christ.  My wife has been battling cancer for years.  She could have stayed angry and asked why her.  She has only gotten closer to the Lord during her trials.  That is the test.  She inspires me. When tragedy strikes, there are those that will run from God...angry.  And there are those that get closer to God.  I can't blame the former.  For that is human.  You and I really don't know what we would do until we are in that situation.  You say no way.  And that reminds of someone, Peter.  Peter said no way.  Then he got tested and failed, 3x.  Check Matt 26.My wife has been tested many times.  And she has responded.  People that are closest to Lori yet maybe not the Lord, notice her Faith.  Her strength.  As for me, if you have listened long enough, you know my trials and tribulations.  Finances have been a wrestling match.  Once upon a time, money used to come easy.  Too easy.  Now, for about 15 years it has been a struggle.  Don't get me wrong.  There are others in worse situations.  I'm just trying to say vs. most of my peers, my path has been challenging.  Easy to pay bills when it flows strong. When it doesn't, ok Lord, what are you going to do in this struggle?  I look forward to Rom 8:28.  This is going to be solved one way or the other.  I'm still hoping to hit the jackpot and make it all right.  I keep working and digging for wells.  We'll see if Brother MikeC's words come true as he tells me to keep working/digging and I'll hit the wellspring.  If/when I do, I'll think I'll be more appreciative than the one that takes it for granted.  Perhaps that is part of the refinement.   What's your story?  Wrestling match?  Are you closer or further from God, let us know at FriDudes.comNow go, lift your struggles, know they are part of the test.  Know the best go through the worst.  Those going through the worst, loving God with all your heart, soul and mind is amazing.  For those going through better times, recognize the season and give thanks for what is worthy.  Love others.  Matt 22: 36-40.  Everything else you are trying to do or pray about hangs on those two.  I love you. Yes!  You are in!  You busy?!  Odds are that you are.  Here you go, your play of the day...Mic drop!  Thank you Dr. Lorrits!  Back in the Play of the Day.  After an amazing run of interviews, and more of those on the way, thank you for all your positive feedback.  More of those interviews and case studies are on the horizon.  You can hear more of that message on the Bryan Lorrits podcast.  That message is entitled, "The Discipleship Ride - 2 Timothy 2" published on the 19th of February 2024.Several key things jumped out at me.  FriDudes is in the discipling business.  Yes, we are still in the Hope and Encouragement business.  Yes, we get real and pursue Truth.  We also have a crazy goal of 1 million disciples.  Sure, we have a ways to go yet we are multiplying.  Jesus started with a small group.  How about you?  I'm with Dr. Lorrrits' father.  I've been part of mega churches for over 20 years.  My greatest growth has come from small groups.  I still attend larger churches.  I also will attend smaller churches.  I average once per week in a bigger church.  Yet, I average 3-4 times per week in small groups.  Dr. Lorrits says 8 peeps.  Awesome!  Yet I have also had some of my best experiences with groups of 2-3.  A cool promise with small groups of 2-3.  Matt 18:20.  Check it.  A pastor that has spoken to an arena of 80,000+ plus and he says give me 8 hungry dudes at 5:30AM!  The FriDudes and other early morning Dudes will get that one.  Why so early?!  Because it is really hard for you to be so 'busy' that early.  The only excuse most of you can give is you want to sleep in more.  Trust me, we run groups at lunch time, later in the afternoon and evenings.  Early mornings are very hard for most to find an excuse for why not to go.Relationships.  Very hard to build relationships in a large group with one speaker.  Very hard to really get to know someone.  8 people, easier.  2-3 much, much easier.  Why do this at all?  Let me go back to some of my favorite rhetorical questions.  Do we need more love or hate in this world?  More hope or hopelessness?  The Bible, the Owner's Manual for Life is full of Hope and Love.  It says love is the greatest of all.  Can you imagine if everyone practiced that?  That is why we create disciples.  Well, that and it is exactly what Jesus told us to do.  If you truly love Jesus, you will want to be discipled and make disciples.  Check Matt 28: 19-20Back to the song of the day, Lauren Daigle, this song raises my mood, I hope it does for you too, if you dig, add it, buy it, here is a little taste...

Yes!  You are in!  This play of the day is unique.  We don't always go to the preachers.  Here is an intriguing conversation between an atheist and a believer, here you go...Very intriguing!  Thank you Adam Carolla, the controversial atheist...well perhaps agnostic that isn't afraid to have Christians, Jews, Muslims, others on his program.  You may not agree with him.  Yet you can't accuse him of censoring.  In fact, ironically, it has been the censoring and control of the left that has pushed him toward believing or at least envying believers and faith in a God.Next, kudos to Neil McDonough.  You may need to web search to recognize him.  When you see him, you'll probably say, oh yeah, that guy.  Now, I definitely want to check out this movie called The Shift...and I will.  Props to you Neil for speaking up.  Most of Hollywood wants to cancel you...yet that has Rom 8:28, created a new opportunity.  Studios like Angel and the Robertsons are pumping out great movies and content.  This year alone I saw Jesus Revolution and The Stand...amazingly well done and brought tears to my eyes.  If you would like to hear more of that Neil McDonough interview, check out the Adam Carolla podcast, "Rob Schneider, Intimacy Coordinators and Movie Accents" published on the 13 of December 2023.  And yes, Neil is on that one, roughly about the last hour of that podcast.So some of you are asking, why do you listen to an atheist/agnostic?  Let alone promoting?  Call me a hopeless romantic, I believe in people.  Yes, they are flawed.   Adam is flawed just like Pastor Rick Warren or the Pope or ____________.  We are all flawed Rom 3:23.  We all need Jesus, Rom 8:1.  Rom 10: 9-10.  That's a fact Jack!Okay versed ones, when you read the Bible.  Who is out of line?  Who rises up?  I tell you all the time.  Think of the least likely in your group.  That could be your Paul or Mary Magdalene.  I truly believe Adam could be a Paul (Saul to Paul).  It's interesting to see him shift to Agnostic.  What does Jesus say about a mustard seed fo faith?  Check Matt 17: 20-21As for that clip, that is Matt 5:16.  Neil is shining Light big time and Adam is letting him.  As for the environment, avid listener knows my comments.  God created this earth.  If you believe in God, we best take care of this earth.  No debate.  Yet keep God our God.  Jesus Christ as our saviour.  The Holy Spirit as our guide.  I hear and see what Adam is saying.  Many make movements their religion.  Ending on a prayer note...

Yes!  You are in!  Bryan's back!  You feeling the heat of life and this broken planet?  You about ready to lose your mind up in here, up in here?  Here's a solution for you.  A prescription written by Dr. Lorrits...here you go!Wow!  Thank you Dr. Lorrits.  I'm very grateful for you and your words of wisdom.  BTW, if you would like to hear the rest of that message, check out, "Patience, Pearls and Crockpots", published on September 17, 2023 via the Bryan Lorrits Podcast.  Patience.  Argh.  I should have been more patient.  My biggest holes dug were from not being patient.  Avid listeners know.  If you are a newer listener, go back to the summer of 2020 and all my dirt is there.  Well, the financial dirt and holes dug.If you are human (tongue in cheek) you have dug your holes somewhere.  You are wrestling with something.  If you think you are perfect, this is not your podcast.  Rom 3:23 is a recurring theme.  Being real and confessing and repenting of our flaws and pursuing Truth for better days.  You may not be physically in prison.  Many of you are in some kind of figurative prison:  anxiety, depression, addiction, adultery, porn, anger, resentment, money (too much or not enough), too much?!  Not possible, You sure about that.  Jesus says himself that it is harder for a rich man to get in heaven, it's like a camel going through the eye of a needle.  Check Matt 19:24.  Blessed are the poor for the kingdom of heaven will be theirs..Check Matt 5:3.  Yes, too much money and/or comfort can be a blocking wall.  Think about it.  How truly happy are people in Hollywood?  How many marriages stay in tact?  How many die of alcohol or drug abuse trying to fill in those holes?  Ok, back to task...Some of you are so fed up, so sick and tired that you want to end it.  Don't Jump.  There is a purpose for your pain.  If you are not in pain, then you know someone that is.  Please share with and encourage them.  You are here for a reason.  You have a purpose.  Your pain has a purpose.  I'm not excusing what someone terrible did to you.  I am saying don't let that terrible define you.  God works ALL things for good for those that seek him.  Check Rom 8:28.Never underestimate your words of encouragement.  An article caught my eyes not too long ago from NPR.  Yes NPR.  Whether you like them or not, the article is great.  It is called Don't Jump and you can find that link in this podcast description or on our blog at FriDudes.com, entitled Heat.https://www.npr.org/2023/09/14/1198800011/a-comment-shouted-from-a-stranger-in-a-passing-car-saved-her-lifeAs a capper on this one, I'm going to read from James 5: 7-11, here you go...James 5: 7-11. 7 Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord's coming. Yes!  You are in.  Do you have faith?  Did you have faith that the Covid vaccine would work?  How about if your favorite sports team will win?  Ok, not a sports person, how about the love of your life and will that person remain faithful to you?  You do put faith into things and people.  Now for your play of the day...here you go...Faith, we all use it.  Even an atheist puts faith into that there is nothing.  Some of you just aren't sure.  For those that think you are sure, you are still riding on Faith. Some of you heard my video game analogy, seems like a perfect time for it.  You and your atheist friend are in a video game.  In fact, you both know you are in a video game.  The atheist says, we just go here.  There was an explosion and now we are in a video game.  The believer says, that doesn't make sense.  I believe/putting in faith that there is a designer behind this video game.  Somebody wrote the code.  Built the scenes with artistry so striking and beautiful that even atheists admire it and want to spend time amongst the beauty.  The hardened atheist replies, yeah but I can't see any code and I don't see any designer.  The believer says well ok, good point, I don't see a designer, I'll give you that.  However, science says there is a code.  Math defines and solves a lot.  On top of that, we learned that your body and mine and every living creature has a code.  They call it DNA.  30 billion+ lines of code that define every aspect of you and me.  It can even tell us who truly are our parents and where we have been and where are ancestors come from.  So we do have a code.   Atheist replies and says ok, we have a code but it magically appeared from an explosion.  Which do you believe?  Which side are you putting your faith into?For the believer, okay you believe in God...a designer.    Jewish, Muslims and Christians most believe in the Torah and the prophecies found there..  All put faith into a God/designer.  Christians believe in/put faith into Jesus as the messiah promised in the Torah and beyond.  People debate if Jesus existed.  Yet hardly anybody debates if Julius Caesar existed.  Yet there are a ton of historical documents on both of them.  Our world calendar is based on Jesus.  To put it quite simply, Jesus was either a iiar a lunatic or Lord.  You get to choose.  You will put your faith into one of those three.  One can't be a great teacher and say one is God and isn't.  So if you are a believer in Jesus, kudos to you.  You are 2,000+ years later.  And you are living those words in the 'Play of the Day'.  How are you at sharing your Faith?  Odds are you have room for improvement.  Me too!  Oh, if you would like to hear more of that Play of the Day.  Check out Daily Hope, Expecting the Best, Part 1, published on the first of September, 2023Now go, continue in Faith and show your Heavenly Father your love.  Love God with all your heart and soul.  Next love others...especially the more challenging ones.  Everything you are trying else you are trying to do hangs on those two...Check Matt 22: 26-40.  I love you, thanks for listening and when worthy, thanks for sharing and encouraging someone else.  If you are listening to this because of someone else, just know they love you...

2008 going into 2009, BOOM! If you want a history lesson, watch the 'Big Short' movie for a crucial history lesson. The entire United States financial infrastructure almost melted down. Prior to the collapse, I wasn't paying much attention. I was wondering how people earning far less than us were affording these big houses. Turns out the banks were handing out mortgages (mainly not qualified) like they were candy (insuring and selling them off to another who would insure them and then sell them off to another...repeat and repeat and repeat.. In my naivete, I was thinking the housing market was never going to go down. Prices kept going up...Little to my knowledge then, fueled by faulty mortgages. Me, being the financial genius (tongue in cheek), bought near the peak (my latest properties). Collapse. Wells Fargo, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Citi and the other big banks and investment firms, General Motors, AIG and many other 'Too Big to Fail' got their bail out. No bail out for this total fool.PAUSE, further film review, I went from sole provider with a very comfortable living to owning and borrowing for a lot of crap. After the Great Recession I went to about 50% of the cash flow to cover it. BTW, that includes Lori’s job! Worse yet, when times got tough, I neglected finances. Put my head in the sand. My ignorance/recklessness almost destroyed our marriage. In fact, I'm still not out of the woods yet. The rest of the story will be shared someday. For now, I had to make some painful changes. Lori 'chose' to stick with me for poorer. In this day and age, that is not easy. You may even say it is rare. Heck, even when you're the richest couple in the world (see the Bezos/Amazom.com) they divorced. When I have my A game, I give thanks for her everyday and ask here "What can I do for you today?". For those that know Lori, she is a beautiful woman. This was not her fault. She easily could have divorced me and found a much wealthier man that could give her that big house and new vehicle. Pause: film review, mark my words. If Lori and I didn't have Jesus Christ as our foundation, all those Sunday sermons and our blessed couples' small group, we would not be married today. Check Matt 7: 24-27. So for those versed and Deeper, you know the Bible (the Owner's Manual) says, if you are in debt, you are slave to the lender. Proverbs 22:7 (NIV), “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.” You don't feel like a slave when times are good and you can pay everything monthly and have surplus left. Try missing some payments, compound interest can be a bitch and you don't own jack sh#! Pause, film review. For those striving to save and give more, compound interest rates can be your best friend or your worst enemies. You ever notice which buildings are the tallest in your cities? Whose names are on the majority of the stadiums: Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Chase, etc. All fueled by the power of compound interest rates that drive your loans. As long as you pay your bills, they will lend you more. More money for them, less money for you. BTW, if you think this is some side tangent of hate for financial institutions, wrong. Some of you work for them. Just be wise. Understand they are in the business to make money. The more you borrow, compound interest rates can build you a 'Hell Scraper'. Gulp, I don't know. Get your pricing that includes your investment in facility, tooling and equipment Insurance companies make their money by not paying out. A body shop problem getting paid or their money worth for ADAS calibration Every make/model is different. Chevy vs Audi will require more time and different equipment. Charging the same for a Chevy vs an Audi will not make you any money. Insurance companies see no value in training, certifications. Too many want it done cheap and fast to get their client out of a rental. There is a safety factor here. You need to consider a moral factor to do the job right. You need to know where to get OE service information You must want to understand technology in order to do calibrations. You need to read and comprehend. It takes math and science to do a good calibrations Markets will not bear an ADAS Calibration shop on every corner You need to research how many ADAS Calibration shops in your market You will need to develop a business plan to you can see the return on investment over time Promoting your new calibration center will require door to door, flyers and even a campaign into the marketplace. Promote your new services to glass shops a great source of work.Just because the post-scan is good doesn’t mean the ADAS component of the vehicle is fully functional Consider if the vehicle is not drivable there will be a tow involved to bring it to your shop A big responsibility is to be sure the vehicle is functioning 100% within spec. It needs to behave properly when it leaves your shop. Moving forward David feels the OEs need to help us verify if the vehicle is fully functional after calibration. Full autonomous will require that. In addition to being an MLB player who won a ring with the Cubs in 2016, Matt was a standout "do it all" MVP football player for the 2009 NCAA FCS champion Villanova Wildcats. He made international headlines in 2016 when ESPN told the story of his bone marrow donation that saved the life of a young Ukrainian girl. He and his wife now run the "Szcz the Day" Matt Szczur Foundation, which increases awareness about bone marrow donation and much more. He's also an accomplished painter, selling his amazing prints for thousands of dollars to benefit a variety of charities. So basically, he's the kind of guy who inadvertently makes the rest of us feel like chumps. But he's so damn nice about it.
