Investigative journalist Liz Farrell and producer David Moses examine a disturbing new chapter in the ongoing saga surrounding “Pastor” JP Miller and the Horry County Police Department. What began as a protest seeking Justice for Mica has spiraled into a maze of legal complaints, retaliatory tactics, and baffling law-enforcement decisions—and now the arrest of protester Sandra Caron for writing on a $50 sign JP allegedly created to antagonize her. (29:00) Then we're diving into attorney Jonny McCoy's powerful press conference on behalf of former HCPD employees Mikayla Moscov and Kelsey Manemeit, who allege retaliation and misconduct inside the department. Shocker… today we're talking about Good Ole Boy systems protecting powerful men while punishing those who speak out. So much to cover, so let's dive in!
Star Trek. The final frontier. These are the podcasts of three enthusiastic nerds. In Star Trek: The Original Series “Court Martial,” Kirk goes on trial for murder — or at least whatever Starfleet thinks counts as “due process.” The courtroom is confusing, the evidence flimsy, and the computer doing cross-examination is drunk on power. Jim, A.Ron, and Talitha deliberate on the plastic outfits, the questionable framing plot, and the galaxy's least convincing lawyer. Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell expose a shocking case of alleged retaliation at Horry County Police Department. When CIT Investigator Kelsey Manemeit filed a sexual harassment complaint against Deputy County Administrator Randy Webster—whose name adorns a $24 million building—she expected justice. Instead, she and county PIO Mikayla Moskov were accused of participating in a allegedly fabricated "sex scandal" and forced to resign. Attorney Jonny McCoy shares how HCPD Chief Kris Leonhardt allegedly weaponized an internal affairs investigation to punish women who reported misconduct, while Webster quietly retired with his reputation intact. Today we examine disturbing text messages, questionable timelines, and a pattern of alleged corruption in the same department that failed Mica Francis Miller and Scott Spivey. Did transparency claims mask retaliation, and why did this case represent a reckoning for Horry County's Good Ole Boy network? Tune into Jonny McCoy's Facebook to watch his press conference at THURSDAY November 13 at 2 pm

On this episode of Star Trek Universe, Effie and I learn that sometimes it's best to let Sargons be bygones - especially when you meet douche bags with big ball energy who like to call ya “son”! Hide your Muldaurs and hide your Spocks, maman! They're snatchin' everybody out here!As we continue our rewatch/first-watch of The Original Series, we find ourselves face-to-face with LIGHTS IN BALLS... or rather, the now-non-corporeal entities who used to be humans millennia ago, desperate to make it back into human bodies -- but becoming human comes with weaknesses, maman! Sargon, this sounds familiar... We're talking Star Trek 2x22, “Return to Tomorrow”
Star Trek. The final frontier. These are the podcasts of three enthusiastic nerds. Meet Captain John Christopher: a man out of time and definitely out of his depth. Star Trek: The Original Series “Tomorrow Is Yesterday” sends the Enterprise hurtling into the 20th century, where Kirk fights like it's “Arena” round two and the science hasn't quite termed black holes yet. Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell have a Spidey sense and it's telling them that karma is coming for Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, pastor John-Paul Miller.(3:33) JP, who is currently facing two lawsuits accusing him of sexually assaulting two teen girls at his father's Christian school, has been under investigation by the FBI for quite some time. In fact, it was just over a year ago that the FBI sent a cavalry to raid his house. After asking his congregation at Mercy Church to pray and fast for him in a “life or death” situation this past weekend, it seems something has this churchy business bro scared. Could it be handcuffs? Also on the show North Myrtle Beach businessman (16:54) Weldon Boyd files a bizarre and laugh-worthy lawsuit against Mark “Zero Dark” Tinsley aka Tiger Tinsley, claiming that Mark's “self-aggrandizement” and desire to be “famous” is preventing Weldon from getting a fair trial. Is Weldon anticipating criminal charges? Plus a rundown on the history of Horry County Police Department's shady beginnings. So much to cover, so let's dive in!

Splinter Cell: Deathwatch might be the most unexpected comeback in gaming history: an animated Netflix series based on a franchise that's been dormant for a decade. MonteCristo and DoA dive deep into Ubisoft's strange revival of Sam Fisher, the stealth-action legend who's now older, grizzled, and apparently stuck in an anime-style John Wick universe created by Derek Kolstad. In this episode, the hosts debate whether Deathwatch is a solid espionage thriller or just a messy prelude to Ubisoft's upcoming Splinter Cell remake. They discuss the show's surprising violence, chaotic hacking scenes, and the questionable logic of “chaos algorithms,” plus the performances of Liev Schreiber as Sam Fisher and the legacy of Michael Ironside's voice. Star Trek. The final frontier. These are the podcasts of three enthusiastic nerds. In “Arena,” Star Trek: The Original Series delivers one of its most iconic moments: Captain Kirk squaring off against the Gorn. The fight is equal parts legendary and unintentionally hilarious. Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell peel back the latest layers of South Carolina's two-tier justice system — where accountability seems to stop at the badge... After a viral video showed fired Beaufort County Deputy Billy Squires holding teenagers at gunpoint in a Hilton Head neighborhood, it took an entire month — and mounting public outrage — before SLED finally charged him and his neighbor. Mandy, Liz, and producer David dissect the weak charges, the troubling omissions in the affidavits, and what this case reveals about how law enforcement protects its own. Then, the team pivots to another jaw-dropping courtroom saga (19:33): JP Miller's latest failed appeal. Liz unpacks the judge's scathing 10-page ruling, JP's manipulative “Faith First Academy” contracts, and the continued fallout surrounding Mica Francis' death. And finally, we're examining a little known financial arrangement for lawyer legislators to pay private attorneys HUGE sums of public tax money for what seems to us like little to no good reason... On this episode of Star Trek Universe, Effie and Dave beam down to Sigma Iotia II — the planet that found a book about Chicago mobsters and decided to run with it! From fedoras to tommy guns, the Iotians built an entire society modeled after 1920s gangland culture, maman. Now the warring “bosses” want the Federation to supply them with heaters for their escalating turf war. It's one of the funniest and most iconic episodes of The Original Series, blending sci-fi satire with pulpy gangster style. Dave likes to think of it as “A Private Little Cosplay” — but you'll know it better as Star Trek 2x20, “A Piece of the Action.”

It's wedding season! Anika and Liz are looking at some of Star Trek's key wedding episodes, beginning with the one that launched season 2 of The Original Series and rewrote a lot of people's brain chemistry: "Amok Time". And in typical "Antimatter Pod does it Antimatter Pod's way" fashion, we're gonna talk about ... how great it is for the Spock/Chapel ship. Why we're doing a wedding series: we love weddings, and we love how they can be used as a characterisation and worldbuilding tool Vulcans secretly live for the drama It does not do to dwell on the science and evolution behind pon farr and we should not have tried Liz is very concerned for the wellbeing of asexual Vulcans There's a lot of orientalism in our first glimpse of Vulcans and their culture, and modern Trek hasn't really walked that back We don't appreciate William Shatner enough (William Shatner did not pay us to say this) It's actually quite possible that McCoy and Chapel have never spoken outside of work Strange New Worlds has destroyed this episode and also Spock as a character Vulcans: we are an advanced and sophisticated culture Also Vulcans: please do not ask about the child marriages Kirk's infatuation with T'Pau is very important to us
This week, as the guys look towards Halloween, Andrew and Ted sit down to discuss the Netflix original thriller series "Wayward", starring Mae Martin, Toni Collette, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Sydney Topliffe. Deputy Alex Dempsey (Martin) and their wife move to the sleepy little town of Tall Pines, Vermont to raise their yet born child. Little did Deputy Dempsey know that the town is not only home to a reform school for wayward high school age children but the reform school itself is wayward as it's academics are geared to brain washing the children. If that wasn't enough, the towns people, majority former students themselves, are protecting the school from outside inquiries ... such as deputy Dempsey who is bend on exposing the school after finding out about what it is doing.
Welcome back to the Captain's Quadrant, where warp speed opinions meet photon torpedo-level takes! Today, Jason Roy Gaston and VHS Jase beam into the Kelvin timeline to dissect the third installment of the rebooted Star Trek franchise: Star Trek Beyond. If you enjoy the show please consider becoming a Patreon! Returning VHS JaseStar Trek Beyond boldly goes where Into Darkness stumbled. With Justin Lin at the helm and Simon Pegg co-writing, this entry trades convoluted villain reveals for classic Trek vibes: exploration, camaraderie, and a dash of philosophical musing. The Enterprise crew is stranded, the stakes are personal, and the villain Krall (Idris Elba) brings a gritty menace that feels earned.Chris Pine channels a more seasoned Kirk, balancing swagger with introspection.Zachary Quinto's Spock is emotionally layered, especially in scenes with Karl Urban's McCoy—who absolutely steals the show.Sofia Boutella's Jaylah is a breakout star, giving the franchise a fresh, fierce energy.Jason Roy Gaston notes: “This is the most ‘Star Trek' of the Kelvin movies—it's not trying to be Star Wars, it's trying to be Starfleet.”VHS Jase adds: “Jaylah is the MVP. She's got the attitude of a rogue and the heart of a Federation officer.”Lin's action chops shine in kinetic sequences, but it's the quieter moments—like Kirk's reflection on his father's legacy—that give this film warp core depth. The visuals are stunning, the score (with a killer Beastie Boys callback) pumps adrenaline, and the pacing never drags.Absolutely. Beyond feels like a love letter to The Original Series while still pushing the Kelvin timeline forward. It's not perfect—Krall's backstory could use more polish—but it's a thrilling, heartfelt ride.
This week on Trek Watch, John dives into the latest developments from the Star Trek universe. We start with a breakdown and review of Star Trek: Khan — Ceti Alpha V Episode 6, analyzing how the story continues to chart Khan's descent from visionary leader to vengeful exile. We look at the writing, performances, and how the series ties into both The Original Series and Wrath of Khan.Next, dissecting the brand-new Starfleet Academy trailer, exploring what it reveals about tone, setting, and cast. From the post-Burn timeline to the training-day dynamics, we discuss how this series could expand the modern Trek landscape while reconnecting to the franchise's roots in mentorship and idealism. Finally, we break down the NYCC 2025 teaser clip from Strange New Worlds Season 4, which teases character arcs, new worlds, and a tonal shift that could set up the series' boldest season yet. Expect speculation, continuity talk, and a few of our trademark Trek deep cuts along the way.

Star Trek. The final frontier. These are the podcasts of three enthusiastic nerds. In Star Trek: The Original Series “Balance of Terror,” Kirk faces a tense standoff with the Romulans while the Enterprise crew wrestles with Cold War paranoia and a little too much suspicion of Spock. Sure, the Romulan Commander looks remarkably like Spock's dad — but that's showbiz, Mister. Jim is back at the helm, and A.Ron and Talitha are at their stations, ready to follow their captain into the Neutral Zone. Beam your feedback to startrek@baldmove.com. This week Andrew and Ted sit down to discuss what they thought of the first two episodes (out of 8) of the new Netflix original series "Black Rabbit", starring Jude Law and Jason Bateman. This drama / suspense follows two brothers (Law & Bateman) as they struggle with their personal lives as well as each other. While both struggling, personally, Bateman's character seems to be in deeper as he is trying to escape his past with some shady characters while Law's character is struggling chasing a dream. Their lives intertwine as their bonds as brothers, now that both parents have passed, hold onto what semblance of family remains as one (Law's character) is now dragged into the mess of the other (Bateman's character).
Star Trek. The final frontier. These are the podcasts of three enthusiastic nerds. “To be, or not to be Kodos?” That's the question in Star Trek: The Original Series “The Conscience of the King.” A.Ron and Talitha dig into the episode's Shakespearean homage, the ghosts of Kirk's past, and the deadliest substance known to man: Tetralubisol! “Terrarium” While investigating a peculiar area of uncharted space—a region legendary for strange phenomena—the Enterprise finds it impossible to get proper reading from probes due to highly volatile gravimetric waves. Ortegas flies the shuttle Archimedes into the turmoil to gather data firsthand. But when a wormhole suddenly opens up and sends the shuttle tumbling into a moon orbiting a gas giant, Ortegas must fight to survive. She has to find shelter, food, and water, but there's one obstacle she wasn't counting on: the Gorn. With the clock ticking before the moon passes through the planet's thermosphere, the two enemies find common ground.
