3 octobre 1990.

Notes on the ASPE meeting this weekend in Boston. The American Society of Podiatric Executives (ASPE) is a professional association made up of the executive directors and senior staff of state and regional podiatric medical associations across the United States. It serves as the “association of associations” for podiatry—essentially the network of the people who run the state and regional DPM organizations. Key Roles and Purposeupport & Collaboration: ASPE provides a forum for state society executives to share best practices, exchange ideas, and coordinate on issues affecting podiatric medicine nationwide. •Education & Training: It organizes meetings, workshops, and resources to help these executives strengthen their own associations—everything from member services to legislative advocacy. •Policy & Advocacy Alignment: ASPE often works in concert with the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) to ensure consistency in policy, legislative priorities, and messaging across states.

Send us a textTomorrow, September 16th, 2025, Anchorage will celebrate 50 years as a unified municipality. In honor of that anniversary I am re-releasing an episode from last year with Charter Commissioner, Jane Angvik. This episode is almost exclusively about the charter commission. I have another episode with Jane about her life; here's that link. I have also interviewed the other two living members of the Anchorage Charter Commission: Joe Josephson and Lisa Parker – you can find links to their episodes here: Joe Josephson Lisa Parker.Happy 50th birthday to the municipality of Anchorage!Anchorage Charter Commission member Jane Angvik ran for the Anchorage Charter Commission not too long after she had moved to Anchorage in 1973. What she had learned during her time working for the Greater Anchorage Borough Planning Department was that the City of Anchorage and the Borough of Anchorage hated each other – they couldn't stop suing each other, and the State of Alaska had grown weary of the drama. The ridiculous conflict even resulted in the loss of life. This is Jane Angvik's recollections of her time serving on the Charter Commission.

Ep. 221 - The Power of Unification with Mark and Christine Jewell: How One Couple Restructured Their Finances, Business & Marriage for Greater Impact

Power Couples by Design

In this powerful and transparent episode, we're joined by leadership coaches Mark and Christine Jewell, a dynamic couple leading the Momentum Company and Warriors of the Heart. What started as a business-focused meetup evolved into a candid conversation about marriage, money, calling, and the cost of doing life in parallel instead of in partnership. They share the raw truth of how merging their businesses and finances wasn't easy—but it was the key to unlocking a whole new level of peace, purpose, and profit in their home and company. Christine and Mark get vulnerable about their journey from individual success to shared purpose. They reveal how a word from God—“supernatural unification”—set them on a course that exposed hidden money habits, relational misalignment, and the danger of running side-by-side without real connection. By aligning their financial systems and embracing their God-given roles in life and business, they not only paid off nearly $300K in debt in 18 months, but also experienced explosive growth and deeper family unity. You'll walk away from this conversation with practical frameworks, spiritual encouragement, and renewed hope that you can build a life and business that thrives—together. Money is a heart issue: Transparency, tithing, and structure helped them overcome shame and conflict, leading to financial breakthrough and joy in giving. Roles create freedom: Letting go of control and trusting each other's God-given strengths allowed them to operate in their genius without competition or burnout. Christine Bio: Christine Jewell is an author, keynote speaker, and faith based executive coach with  over 25 years of experience in the fields of Health + Peak Performance, Entrepreneurship + Human Behaviour . She is also the host of the Breaking Chains Podcast. As the Founder of Warriors Of The Heart, she specializes in guiding highly successful CEO's and Impact driven leaders to break out of the superficial “life” they've built, redefine success and step into a whole new playing field grounded in eternal, life giving principles. Christine bridges the gap between the heart, fueled by faith & logic, fueled by practicality -  to help people receive more than they could ever imagine and claim the rich life they were created for. As a mother of 6, ages 9-23, through a blended family, a wife, high level athlete, multiple business owner and entrepreneur since her 20's, she is intimately familiar with the overwhelm and burnout that can come when building a ‘dream' life, as well as what's possible on the other side. Through years of trials, burning things down and rebuilding from the ashes of her past, she has ditched the rules of this world, following the calling on her heart to cultivate a life of total alignment - where there is more than enough time for her most meaningful work, extraordinary relationships, a legacy of impact - and plenty of rest! Her vision is to create a community of Kingdom Minded Men and Women who are rising together as powerful co-creators rather than competitors - and are redefining the way we lead at work, in relationships, and every arena of life! The Italians, still salty over their last war with Austria, join on Prussia's side, with the goal of seizing Venice once and for all. The Austro-Prussian War, also known as the Seven Weeks' War, will determine which power – Austria or Prussia – will control the destiny of Germany. Meanwhile, Italian nationalists have their eyes set on more than Venice. A year and a half ago, North Korea made waves when it announced that it was abandoning the goal of inter-Korean reunification. Now, South Koreans are getting ready to head to the ballot box to elect a new president, with their pick set to shape Seoul's policy toward a neighbor that now views the South as a “hostile, enemy state.” On this week's episode, Dr. Tomasz Wierzbowski and Dr. J.R. Kim join the podcast to debate whether Seoul should formally abandon the national goal of unification with North Korea. They discuss the evolving generational and political attitudes toward unification, whether the Ministry of Unification should be overhauled or scrapped and the ethics of maintaining peaceful coexistence with an authoritarian neighbor. Episode hosted by Mark Divine: Today, Commander Divine speaks with Tony Nader, MD, PhD, global expert in the science of consciousness and human development and head of the Transcendental Meditation organizations globally. In the episode, Tony shares the science of consciousness and the relationship between mind and body, consciousness and physiology, and the possibility to develop full human potential. Key Takeaways: Transcendental Meditation as an inner and outer practice. The reality is many Westerners think of meditation as an internal-only practice and therefore avoid it at all costs. Transcendental Meditation (TM), which Dr. Nader champions in the West, is instead both an internal and external practice, used to create more harmony in our real world lives. The survey says… meditate! Tony shares how TM has created research-backed results in both physical and mental realms. For instance, TM practitioners experience increased mental clarity, peace, and happiness, as well as less physiological stress, better healing and ability to concentrate - even (get this) better behavior! Ultimate reality and… rock consciousness? Tony details how TM allows practitioners to experience ultimate reality, which is the experience of all consciousness, everything, as one. Oh, and that includes rocks, which also hold consciousness, albeit of lower values than us humans. Less than 1% to heal the world. Studies have shown, including an experiment done in Washington, D.C., that when less than 1% of a population come together and practice Transcendental Meditation, there are cosmic shifts in the overall population behaviorally and mentally. Less car crashes, less violence, crime, and so on. TM is quite literally changing the world, by bringing us into harmony with the all-encompassing oneness of everything. If you have ever felt disconnected with your spouse- particularly in the area of communication- this episode is especially for you.  Steven and his wife, Tracy, walked through more than two decades of disconnection. Twenty-five years is a long time to feel lost in your marriage. To feel like no matter what you try, you just can't find your way back to each other. They loved God. They were raising six children together. They wanted their marriage to thrive. But somehow, they kept missing each other. Their communication felt off, and it wasn't just about words—it was about how every part of their life as a couple felt misaligned. Marriage Problems After 25 Years: Feeling Stuck and Disconnected Steven and Tracy did what many couples in their situation try to do. They sought help. They met with counselors and pastors. They heard wise advice. But for some reason, it just didn't seem to stick in their day-to-day lives. They felt like they were doing all the right things, yet their relationship still felt strained. The alignment they hoped for—spiritually, emotionally, practically—kept slipping through their fingers. It's hard to describe how wearying that becomes over time. You start to wonder if it will ever change, or if you're destined to just live alongside each other, rather than truly enjoy the beauty of partnership that marriage is meant to be. Signs of Hope: When One Spouse Begins to Change What began to open things up wasn't what Steven expected. He started to notice a softness in Tracy. A new warmth in her communication. She seemed more open, more willing to engage in conversations in a way that felt safe and inviting. And that tenderness in her sparked something in him. He realized, deep in his heart, that he wanted to experience that same kind of shift. He didn't want to keep circling the same frustrations. He wanted his heart to change too—not just so things would feel better, but because he longed to love her well. There's something so beautiful about that. Sometimes, it's the gentle transformation in one spouse that awakens the hope in the other. And that's exactly what happened for Steven. How Focusing on Personal Growth Can Transform Your Marriage What truly began to move the needle for Steven was recognizing where his focus had been all along. For many years, like so many of us, he had been looking at his wife's responses, her choices, her attitude. But when he started to reflect more deeply, he realized the bigger breakthrough would come from within himself. That shift—from focusing outward to focusing inward—was a game changer. Instead of waiting for Tracy to change, he opened his heart to the changes God wanted to do in him. He began to see how his own patterns of thought and communication were shaping their dynamic. And as he leaned into that growth, the atmosphere of their marriage began to change. Learning to Communicate Better in Marriage Steven described it as learning to dance. For years, he and Tracy were moving to different rhythms. Even when they had good intentions, they kept stepping on each other's toes. When you don't know the steps, no matter how much you love the other person, the dance feels clumsy. Missteps are frustrating and discouraging. But as Steven grew in understanding and grace, he began to move in rhythm with his wife. He learned how to lead with humility and gentleness. And as he did, Tracy responded. She became more willing to follow his lead—not because she was forced to, but because it felt safe and loving to do so. Their dance transformed from awkward steps to something fluid, connected, and beautiful. Why Humility Is Key to a Stronger Marriage What I find so deeply inspiring about Steven's journey is the way he embraced humility. He didn't cling to pride. He didn't stay stuck in frustration, demanding that his wife change first. Instead, he knelt before God—both literally and figuratively—and opened his heart to being transformed himself. That posture of surrender made space for God to work powerfully in his life and marriage. And it's a reminder for all of us: no matter how broken things feel, when we choose humility and invite God into our hearts and homes, He begins to weave a story of redemption that's more beautiful than we could have imagined. What a Healthy Marriage Looks Like After Healing Today, Steven and Tracy still face challenges, but what's different now is how they handle them. What used to take days, weeks, or even months to resolve now takes minutes—sometimes even seconds. They've learned to recognize when they're drifting out of alignment and come back quickly to unity and connection. Their marriage isn't just surviving anymore. It's thriving. There's joy. There's intimacy. There's a deep excitement about what God is continuing to do in their relationship. It's a miracle of grace, truly. There Is Hope for Your Marriage, Too Friend, if you find yourself where Steven once was—tired, discouraged, wondering if things will ever change—I want you to hear this clearly: there is a way forward. Take courage. Let hope rise in your heart. Open yourself to the possibility that the story isn't over—and that the next chapter could be more beautiful than you've imagined.   With love,   Belah & Team   PS - Want to know more about the current health of your marriage? My wife has become more affectionate and has initiated intimacy more! We can now discuss physical intimacy and not argue. She has told me many times how she likes the changes she sees in me…Other people around us, even strangers, have noticed something different about us.”
