While getting creative with formations he kept the staple of the Wing-T, the Buck Sweep. He also talks about how the geographic location of Twin Valley has helped Coach Olsen see a variety of styles of football.
Coach Gerry Yonchiuk of Central York High School joins the show. In 2020 Coach Yonchiuk's team made it all the way to the PIAA Class 6A final. His team utilizes the Air Raid, an offense still new to high school football in PA, but it has made a bit of a surge in the NFL and at the college level. He talks, in detail, about the Air Raid.
Coach Joe Buehler from Lebanon Valley College is on the show today to talk about a popular football play. He talks about the advantages to zone blocking in the run game and goes into specific detail of what they teach at LVC on their Oline and in the offensive backfield with the play.
Jim Monos was the Head Coach at Lebanon Valley College for 23 seasons. He had a lot of experience getting players and coaches organized for practices. He gets into how his practices were organized and also talks about how he chose coaches for his staff and some techniques he used when dealing with disgruntled players and parents.
Todd Rombach is an official with the Capital Area Football Official Association. He is on the show to give an important prospective on our game. Todd talks about how officials are trained, the differences in rules at different levels of the game, things officials look at throughout the course of a game, and he talks about interactions between coaches and officials.
Coach Rob Flowers from Daniel Boone High School is on the show. He talks about certain fixtures of his program that build bonds between coaches and players. He also talks about Daniel Boone's year long schedule and what they are doing during in-season practices.
Milton Hershey's Jeff Boger is on the show to talk about how he organizes his players and coaches to operate a high school program using a two-platoon system where players only play on one side of the ball. We also get into the unique challenges a coach at Milton Hershey faces and a recent upgrade made to a facility at Milton Hershey School.
Chris Grube from Kennard-Dale High School is on the show. Coach Grube takes us through what he and his staff do to prepare for an opponent during the season. He talks about the importance of watching an end zone camera and also gets into staff dynamics.
Dallastown Head Coach Levi Murphy joins the show. Coach Murphy was just hired this past winter. His final season as a collegiate player was during the fall of 2019 and by the spring of 2020, Coach got his first teaching job. Coach Murphy talks about what he's doing to get his program up and running. Coach Murphy recounts (as a player) his side of the story when his coach announced his retirement.
Lower Dauphin Offensive Coordinator Andy English talks about how he is able to throw a plethora of formations at defenses without confusing his own players. He gets into training QBs and other ways to teach players the game of football.
Jason Warner is the Head Coach at New Oxford High School. He talks about how he turned around a program at a school where football had never really been a consistent winner. He also talks about how he had to wait until the third time through the interview process at the same school to get offered the Head Coaching job. At the end Coach Warner talks about some important things that New Oxford does during a week of preparation.
Eric Foust, Head Coach at Shippensburg High School is on the show. He talks about how he used the weight room as a way to get his program off and running when he first got hired in 2000. He still uses his weight room as a way to maintain the success that's become the norm at Shippensburg.
Susquehanna Twp.'s Joe Headen drops a whole lot of knowledge in this episode. We talk about the different ways he's trying to develop a rapport with this players by making sure they know they are cared for by the entire coaching staff. Glen McNamee is the Head Coach at Central Dauphin High School. He's on the show to talk about his philosophy regarding culture. Coach breaks his program down into three categories, then breaks those categories down into three sub categories. We dig deep into each one of those segments.
Coach Al Moyer of Conrad Weiser High School joins the show. Coach Moyer goes over a meeting he has with his coaching staff at the end of every season where the staff goes at Coach Moyer while giving him criticism and feedback about how the program can improve. Coach also goes into detail on how he forms his leadership counsel and what being a member of that counsel entails.
Ben Thompson is the Head Coach at J. P. McCaskey High School in Lancaster. He talks about some challenges he deals with while coaching in a city school district. He goes over things he's doing to get guys to come out and STAY out for the football team. He also talks about his very unique teaching job in the district.
Lance Deane is the Head Football Coach at CD East. He joins the show for this episode and talks about how he got things up and running for the Panthers. He talks on a few things including a coach/player mentorship program that he utilizes to help instill a high self-esteem in his players. He also talks about the same high standards and expectations he sets for his players, no matter where they are on the depth chart.
Coach Bradley Zell from Boiling Springs is on the show. Coach Zell was an assistant under the late, great Tim Rimpfel at Cumberland Valley for many years before turning around a Boiling Springs program in desperate need of an overhaul. The Bubblers ended the regular season 9-1 in 2021 and made a run to the District 3 Class 3A Final.
Coach Rob Wildasin from Cedar Crest joins the show. Coach Wildasin gives some insight into the steps he took to bring Cedar Crest out of the basement of the ultra-competitive L-L Section One. He also goes over a drill that the Falcons do defensively in which the entire team can participate.
Chris Pavone, Head Football Coach at Palmyra High School, has recently been hired to lead the program after a long stint as the Special Teams Coordinator. Coach Pavone talks about how they install their special teams during the preseason and also how they practice the kicking game during the season.
Mark Evans joins the show. Coach Evans has been the Head Football Coach at Manheim Twp. High School for the past 10 seasons. His 2017 team won the L-L Section I Title and the District Three 6A Championship. Coach Evans and I talk about a few things putting a damper on our game in recent times such as the officiating crisis and dwindling participation in a lot of areas.
