Moving is one of the top 3 most stressful events in life with only death of a loved one and divorce being higher. On average a military family moves every 2-3 years which means within 20 years of service that is anywhere between 6-10 times and according to dosomething.org it is 10x more than civilian families. So, how can we connect with our spouses during this stressful time every 2-3 years?
Unique weddings are no uncommon in the military community, but this is one unlike I have ever heard Mandy and her husband got married WHILE he was deployed!
The Dependable Dependa was created by Sarah, as a way to encourage spouses that it is okay to be “just” a milso. Somewhere along the way the honor of being a military spouse who allows the military t0 pack up their lives every 2-3 years, who rebuilds a home for their family & keeps the ball rolling while their spouse is away, has been negatively tainted. No longer are spouses respected and applauded for the hard work they put forth, but they are oftentimes called names, discouraged and put down because they choose to follow their soldier wherever they go. This podcast is for those of you who love (or WANT to love) being a military spouse. It is a place to learn about the rules, traditions and common practices that this lifestyle requires. It is a place where you are encouraged to do things like make connections at every post, use the discounts that are available and get your POA's in order before they are needed. We should not spend the time we have a military spouse merely surviving but thriving on this once in a lifetime adventure.
