At its core, the job is described as a writer/producer hybrid. But it encompasses so much more than just that.Jeff joins us to talk about Running The Show: Television From the Inside, and he shares his unique perspective on what it takes to make it in the TV industry (spoiler: talent will take you only so far!) Coming to his author role with decades of television experience from broadcast to basic cable to the realm of Bezos (whom he refers to as “the Stalin of Streaming”), Jeff's enthusiasm for mentoring and educating compliment his acumen as an accomplished show runner on Killing Eve, Army Wives, Designated Survivor, Picket Fences, and Northern Exposure. They also serve him well as the writer of a wise, funny, instructive and inside view of his field of expertise.Jeff brings us incredible insight and wisdom on the specific set of skills and personality traits required to succeed at showrunning and leadership in general. We hear his Six Rules, The Twelve P's, His One career-making line (which he wrote for an episode of Remington Steele) and much more. Plus, he's got stories from the many shows he's worked on, including Remington Steele, NYPD Blue and Alias and he's bringing the intel on the differences between American and British Productions as learned via Killing Eve. Check out the video of this interview here! “If a movie was made about your life, who would play the lead role?”  This classic conversation-starter question was actually answered for Toby Dorr! For Toby, the face of the lead role was Catherine Bell when she played Toby in the Lifetime movie Jailbreak Lovers. Since Jailbreak Lovers was created from public news stories and without consultation from Toby, the cast was not allowed to speak with Toby during the filming and production. Join Toby and Catherine as they talk about what it felt like for Toby to have someone showcase the story of the biggest turning point in her life in a movie… and not have any control over what was said. See the time stamps below for other topics covered in today's interview!  Catherine Bell is an actress and a model and has starred in multiple films and TV shows including The Good Witch, JAG, Army Wives, Bruce Almighty, and Lifetime's Jailbreak Lovers (Toby's story). In addition to Catherine's screen career, she is also the co-founder of EVR Beauty and a supervisor with Criminon, "an international, non-profit organization dedicated to criminal rehabilitation and reform." Actress Melissa Ponzio joins The Art of Kindness with Robert Peterpaul to discuss the act of kindness that helped her book Teen Wolf, returning for Teen Wolf: The Movie, being inspired by Sigourney Weaver and much more. Melissa Ponzio spent most of her childhood clowning it up at school and impersonating her beloved family. Then late one night, the New York native City saw Sigourney Weaver in “Alien” and knew right then and there what she wanted to be…an alien! But they said she couldn't really be an alien, so on to the next best thing: acting! Over the years, Melissa's onscreen presence has captivated audiences across so many projects… seriously I could sit here naming them for the entire show: She's notably had recurring roles in the hit NBC series, “Chicago Fire,” AMC's “The Walking Dead,” HULU's “The Girl From Plainville,” BET+'s “First Wives Club,” Cinemax's “Banshee” and Lifetime's “Army Wives,” as well as a never-ending list of guest star roles. On the film front, she's been seen playing opposite Octavia Spencer and Melissa McCarthy in Thunder Force on Netflix, Hilary Swank in HBO's original film Mary and Martha and their historical drama “Warm Springs,” with Kenneth Branagh and Cynthia Nixon, and - throwback - in the comedy, “Life As We Know It,” with Josh Duhamel and Katherine Heigl. Of course, Melissa is now back on screen in the Paramount+ “Teen Wolf: The Movie” revival, reprising her beloved role as ‘Melissa McCall,' the hard-working and devoted single mother to ‘Scott' (played by Tyler Posey). She previously starred in the MTV “Teen Wolf” series for six seasons. Got kindness tips or stories? Stephanie welcomes Megan B. Brown, founder and executive director of MilSpo Co (Military Spouse Coalition), a non-profit organization dedicated to sharing Christ with the military communities worldwide. Megan shares her own story, her heart, and passion for building the Kingdom of God in original, powerful ways. This conversation will stretch, inspire, and challenge you! Megan says, "MilSpo Co. is a place where people can meet Jesus,  engage in life-giving community, and everyone is welcome. We believe in creating a space where people can have authentic encounters with Christ, discover their gifts and use them for God's glory." MilSpo Co. began with a commitment to see military spouses gain  access points to the gospel through getting connected, building a faith community, and to develop the skill of walking out their faith as they moved from place to place. Nearly a decade ago, a handful of military spouses began gathering around the Word of God in a military housing neighborhood. Their goal was simple: to know God and learn how to make Him known. The result was immense. These women were learning how to create friendships, building relationships inside of their local church, and starting to see how God would use their lifestyles to serve Him as missionaries. MilSpo Co.'s Founder, Megan Brown, began leading small and intimate Bible studies from her living room. What began with six women at Keesler AFB on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi has now become a ground movement. Women all over the globe are now meeting in homes, serving inside of the church, and using their gifts for the glory of God.  The next step in mission for MilSpo Co. is to continue to raise up leaders in the military spouse space. By raising up indigenous leaders in the military spouse community who are directly connected to the local church, women in this space can lead others into meaningful connections, biblical community in the family of God, and facilitate their discipleship toward the task of fulfilling the Great Commission.  ABOUT MILSPOCO Megan is a seasoned military spouse, mother of four, and military missionary. Graduating from Moody Bible Institute with a Bachelor's of Science in Ministry Leadership with a focus in Ministry to Women, she is passionate about leading women to pursue fulfilling The Great Commission.  MilSpo Co. exists to intentionally disciple the U.S. Armed Forces through recruiting, raising up, and releasing an army of military spouses as paid and prepared vocational missionaries. These women are sent in partnership with the local church, collaborate with civilian communities for evangelism, and are ready to serve God at operational military installations worldwide.   Find Megan at http://milspoco.com/ DISCOVER THE GOSPEL SPICE MINISTRIES The Gospel Spice Podcast is part of a larger range of tools given to you by Gospel Spice Ministries.
