    Ivy Insights

The New Feminist podcast is a powerful and necessary platform that addresses important issues surrounding women's experiences, particularly in relation to abuse and trauma. The episode "Married my abuser" featuring Leslie Morgan Steiner is a prime example of the show's ability to shed light on stories that are often silenced or overlooked. This episode resonated deeply with me, as it highlighted the courage of survivors and emphasized the importance of breaking through shame and silence.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is its ability to create a space for open and honest conversations. Jill, the host, does an excellent job in facilitating these discussions and allowing guests to share their stories without judgment or interruption. The inclusion of humor throughout the show adds a refreshing touch, providing moments of levity amidst heavy topics. Additionally, I'm excited about future episodes like the gender flip episode mentioned in the trailer which promises to offer unique perspectives on feminism.

While there are numerous positive aspects of this podcast, one potential drawback is that it may be triggering for some listeners who have experienced trauma or abuse first-hand. The rawness and honesty exemplified in the storytelling can evoke strong emotions, which can be difficult for those who are still healing from their own experiences. However, it is important to remember that creating awareness and fostering dialogue around these issues is crucial in order to initiate change.

In conclusion, The New Feminist podcast offers a much-needed platform for women's voices to be heard and empowers survivors by sharing their stories openly. It promotes understanding, empathy, and compassion while encouraging listeners to challenge social norms and work towards justice. By addressing topics that have been shrouded in shame and silence for far too long, this podcast paves the way for healing and growth not only for survivors but also for society as a whole. It is an essential listen for anyone who wants to contribute to making our world a safer place for everyone.

The film follows Rachel de Leon, an investigative journalist at The Center for Investigative Reporting, and her incredible work to uncover a disturbing pattern in the US: A surprising number of legal cases involving young women who report their rape to the police, get charged with false reporting, and instead of receiving help get thrown in jail. Victims/Suspect just premiered on Netflix and while incredibly triggering, it's riveting and a must watch!
