A disturbing new study published in The New York Times revealed that 2/3 of college age girls reported being extreme choked during sex, sometimes to the point of passing out. 40% of the girls said the first time it happened was as early as age 12 to 17. The porn industry's uncontrolled mass promotion of girls being abused has been our kids' sex-ed for years - and parents are still clueless about it.Fortunately US lawmakers are waking up, and age verification laws for porn are sweeping the country - 19 states have enacted them so far. Today we speak to Helen Taylor Vice President of Impact at Exodus Cry who is in the midst of the age verification fight. She has spoken to Congress, the UN and will bring us up to speed on the fight to stop selling porn to minors.

In this powerful and deeply important episode of the Human Intimacy Podcast, Dr. Kevin Skinner and MaryAnn Michaelis discuss the far-reaching influence of pornography on individuals, relationships, and society. The episode reveals shocking statistics about the average age of first exposure—11 years old—and explores the lasting psychological, emotional, and relational consequences for both children and adults. The conversation dives into critical issues, including the normalization of violence in mainstream pornography, the grooming of children, and the internalized shame that fuels secrecy and addiction.   The hosts also address societal challenges such as the inadequacy of filtering systems, the need for stronger legislative action like age-verification laws, and the responsibility of parents and communities to educate and protect children. Through compelling stories and clinical insights, they illustrate the profound impact of pornography on mental health, self-perception, and relationships.   The episode concludes with an inspiring message of hope and recovery. Dr. Skinner and MaryAnn emphasize the transformative power of healing, self-awareness, and relational connection. They encourage listeners to take personal and collective action to safeguard future generations and support those seeking recovery and true intimacy.   Resources Discussed:   1. Statistics on Pornography Exposure:    - Average age of exposure: 11 years old.      - 22% of minors exposed to pornography are under the age of 10.      - 58% of minors accessing pornography are under the age of 14.      - 63% of minors reported accidental exposure in the past week.   2. Healing and Recovery:      - Join group therapy or accountability programs for individuals struggling with pornography addiction.      - Seek professional help and focus on aligning actions with personal values for long-term recovery.      - Emphasize the importance of relational skills and authentic connection over artificial substitutes.   Next Steps for Listeners:  - Share this episode to spread awareness.   - Contact local representatives to support age-verification laws and advocate for digital safety.   - Learn more about the Human Intimacy Conference (March 14-15, 2025) at (http://humanintimacy.com).   - Explore additional healing and advocacy resources through NCOSE and Exodus Cry.   This episode challenges listeners to take action, protect children, and reclaim the ability to foster healthy, intimate relationships in a culture deeply affected by the harmful impacts of pornography.     Other resources provided:  A link to EC's campaign, Protect Children Not Porn that includes: A short animated video on the importance of AV Our documentary called Raised on Porn Our petition that almost has 100,000 signatures  Statistics on the harms of pornography on children A link to EC's state-by-state Age Verification Tracker A link to EC's stat page that includes stats on harms of pornography on children, the amount of pornography easily accessible to children, and the average ages of children that are viewing pornography. And our two-pager on why Age Verification is essential in protecting children.

Today, we're joined by Benji Nolot, the founder and CEO of Exodus Cry, an organization dedicated to ending human trafficking. We start off with a discussion on the fact that pornography is upstream from trafficking and that if people want to justify consuming porn, they also have to sign off on the atrocities that happen to make porn. Today's guest is Gene McConnell founder of Authentic Relationships International. Gene has an incredible story to share about God's redeeming power. Sexually assaulted as a child, exposed to pornography at an early age, rejected by his church in his original attempts to heal, and ultimately acting out with buying sex and committing his own attempted act of sexual assault. But God transformed his heart in one simple act of love by a brother in Christ. Today, Gene has 40 years of experience in developing education about pornography's role in the exploitation of men, women and children in our society. He also recently shared his journey in the Exodus Cry documentary Buying Her. Brittni discusses how her own abuse and neglect as a child played a huge role in her decision to enter porn at 18 years old. After a few years, she found herself addicted to drugs and involved with a pimp. Brittni desperately wanted to escape but was unable to see a way out after a life in the industry. We examine our culture's current sexual framework and the lessons we teach about sex, especially within the Christian sphere, and how these can sometimes do more harm than good within the context of marriage and relationships. She and Benjamin discuss the fact that much of the Evangelical and secular conversations surrounding sex frame it as a male need that women must tend to. Sheila has been writing and speaking about marriage and family since 2003, and specifically about sex since 2010. After almost ten years of trying to help people fix common problems with sex in marriage, she started to wonder: what if the problem isn't a lack of good advice, but rather an abundance of bad advice? In 2014, Uldouz was part of the infamous iCloud hack that leaked intimate images and videos of 100 celebrity women. The video and images in question had been sent by her ex-boyfriend in an iMessage in an attempt to bribe her. Uldouz was unaware her ex had this content as it was made without her consent. After the leak, her video was posted on several porn sites, including Pornhub. She made countless attempts to have the video removed, but after each successful attempt, it would be uploaded again, sometimes just hours later. Now Uldouz advocates on behalf of women, men, and children who have been the victim of non-consensual image-based sexual exploitation. She is among a group of survivors who offered input on the PROTECT Act, a bill that would require websites that host sexually explicit material to verify the consent of anyone appearing in uploaded content, and to delete content that has been uploaded without consent. Don and AIM's work were featured prominently in Exodus Cry's award-winning film, Nefarious: Merchant of Souls, which reached millions of viewers worldwide, and this led to exponential growth of AIM's anti-trafficking work. Cambodia has become notorious as thousands of tourists, often from the US, flock to the country to buy children for sex. Don was on a mission trip to Cambodia when he learned about girls being sold in the storefronts and this marked the beginning of his life-long fight against child trafficking. As they became immersed in the Cambodian community, Don and his wife Bridget began to receive intel on some of the trafficking rings. Yet, each time intel was passed to the police, the traffickers were tipped off and they escaped. After meeting with a government official in Cambodia, AIM received approval to create a SWAT team to assist in arresting traffickers and rescuing women and children. In brave vulnerability, Cristina describes the realities of sex trafficking in the U.S., the impact of pornography creation and consumption, and the long road to healing and justice for people who are trafficked into this industry. Cristina reveals the tactics used by traffickers to lure vulnerable women, including herself, into the sex trade, the psychological and verbal abuse she endured, and the impact it has had on her mental health and well-being.The GirlsDoPorn trafficking case was a high-profile legal battle that exposed the exploitative and abusive practices of the porn industry. In 2019, the owners and employees of the website GirlsDoPorn were indicted on charges of sex trafficking by force, fraud, and coercion. The company was one of Pornhub's biggest partner channels, with 680 million views, and Exodus Cry helped to bring global attention to this case through the Traffickinghub campaign. The creators of the website, which purported to be a legitimate adult entertainment site, actually coerced young women into performing sex acts on camera under false pretenses, and then posted the videos online without their consent. Both of the creators and owners of GirlsDoPorn have now been convicted of and jailed for sex trafficking and other heinous crimes. The case brought attention to the wider issue of exploitation and trafficking in the porn industry and highlighted the need for stronger protections for performers, as well as clearer regulations to prevent such abuses from occurring in the future.LINKS: Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7h6K1rUqBviPAcEXPWg4Sh Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-exodus-cry-podcast/id1171898654?uo=4 Watch our films: www.exoduscry.com/watch Give & fuel the fight: www.exoduscry.com/donate Get involved: www.exoduscry.com/getinvolved Website: www.exoduscry.com Podcast: www.exoduscry.com/podcast Articles: www.exoduscry.com/articles SOCIALS:YouTube: www.youtube.com/exoduscry Instagram: www.instagram.com/exoduscry TikTok: www.tiktok.com/exoduscry Twitter: www.twitter.com/exoduscry Facebook: www.facebook.com/exoduscry Exodus Cry is a leading global anti-trafficking nonprofit organization focused on ending widespread sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, exposing this injustice for millions worldwide, and helping its victims to rebuild their lives.

Benjamin Nolot spent the last 16 years of his life investigating and documenting the global sex trade, trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation, and the sexually destructive behavior that pervades our culture. In each of these, he discovered pornography to be a common thread. Raised on Porn is a carefully reasoned and thoroughly documented look at how porn has infiltrated modern life, why it matters, and how we can respond. The book goes much deeper than how porn affects those who are addicted. It unpacks how porn has poisoned the way we as humans relate to one another, and how that has been embedded into the fabric of our culture.Based on interviews with porn producers, directors, performers, neuroscientists, and mental health professionals, Raised on Porn lays out the porn problem in concrete detail while also offering practical solutions for those who are struggling with porn, and those who have a loved one who is struggling.Grab a copy of Raised on Porn here: https://www.amazon.com/Raised-Porn-Affecting-Lives-about/dp/B0BYLSK5Y5/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1RIPPVOWD8IGU&keywords=raised+on+porn+book&qid=1681236401&sprefix=raised+on+porn+book%2Caps%2C153&sr=8-2 LINKS: Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/m6Zd97bWoDo Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7h6K1rUqBviPAcEXPWg4Sh Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-exodus-cry-podcast/id1171898654?uo=4 Watch our films: www.exoduscry.com/watch Give & fuel the fight: www.exoduscry.com/donate Get involved: www.exoduscry.com/getinvolved Website: www.exoduscry.com Podcast: www.exoduscry.com/podcast Articles: www.exoduscry.com/articles SOCIALS:Youtube: www.youtube.com/exoduscry Instagram: www.instagram.com/exoduscry TikTok: www.tiktok.com/exoduscry Twitter: www.twitter.com/exoduscry Facebook: www.facebook.com/exoduscry Exodus Cry is a leading global anti-trafficking nonprofit organization focused on ending widespread sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, exposing this injustice for millions worldwide, and helping its victims to rebuild their lives.

In part 2 of this 3-part podcast, Benjamin Nolot and Helen Taylor discuss Exodus Cry's new porn industry exposé miniseries, Beyond Fantasy, specifically talking about the "teen" genre of porn featured in the first episode of the series, "Barely Legal." In "Barely Legal" porn industry insiders reveal how producers cast aside ethical boundaries to create content which promotes the fantasy of sex with children. Among porn's most popular categories is the teen genre, which often depicts underage girls. Amid pigtails, playgrounds, and teddy bears, grown men act out sexual fantasies with performers who are at least 18 in real life, but who are made to look and act like children. In the episode, Helen and Benji talk about the urgent need for people to take action around this disturbing genre of pornography. In part 1 of this 3-part podcast, hear from Benjamin Nolot and Helen Taylor as they unpack Exodus Cry's new porn industry exposé miniseries, Beyond Fantasy. The porn industry creates endless images and videos that are consumed by billions worldwide, yet surprisingly little is known about how this culture-shaping content is made — or at what cost. Beyond Fantasy is a documentary miniseries that takes viewers straight into the belly of the beast and brings them face to face with some of the biggest porn producers and performers as they describe, in their own words, an industry that profits from ethical violation, coercion, and abuse. In the episode, Helen asks Benjamin, the series' director and producer, how and why the films were made, the personal cost of creating them, and why it has been dubbed Exodus Cry's most intense film project ever. Benjamin Nolot and Helen Taylor give the inside scoop about the trials and successes of the global #Traffickinghub campaign that held Pornhub and its executives accountable for distributing and profiting from criminal image-based sexual abuse, including videos of rape, child abuse, and sex trafficking. In early 2020, after one of Exodus Cry's directors published "Time to Shut Pornhub Down" in the Washington Examiner, a grassroots movement exploded, demanding the "world's biggest porn site" be shut down and held accountable. The petition amassed over two million signers from 192 countries, Exodus Cry's animated video on it went viral with 34 million views, and, after the New York Times featured the story on their front page, Pornhub was faced with an atomic PR situation. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and other major brands cut ties with Pornhub, the site deleted 80% of their content—about 10 million videos—overnight, and they were hit with lawsuits from victims totaling over $1 billion. Pornhub's CEO and COO have recently stepped down and the brand has been kicked off Roku, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
