When men get sick with a cold or the flu, do they actually suffer more than women — or just complain louder? Some fascinating research suggests there may be real biological differences in immune response between the sexes, which could explain the infamous “man cold.” I break down what scientists have discovered and what it really means. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29229663/ Picky eating feels normal today — separate meals for kids at the dinner table is often the norm. But it wasn't always this way. For most of history, children ate what adults ate or they didn't eat at all. Helen Zoe Veit, award-winning historian, associate professor at Michigan State University, and author of Picky: How American Children Became the Fussiest Eaters in History (https://amzn.to/3OolXKY) explains how and why picky eating became so common, the serious problems it creates — and why it doesn't have to be that way. Will artificial intelligence make us intellectually lazy — or is it about to unleash a new wave of human potential? Zack Kass, one of OpenAI's first 100 employees and author of The Next Renaissance: AI and the Expansion of Human Potential (https://amzn.to/3MoYM2I) argues that tools like ChatGPT are only scratching the surface. He explains why AI may not replace human thinking but amplify it — if we use it wisely. People form powerful judgments about you within seconds of seeing your online profile photo. In this message, Justin explores the high-stakes narrative of Acts 21, where the Apostle Paul's message of freedom in Christ is dangerously twisted by religious traditionalists. Drawing a parallel to the classic "one in a million" misunderstanding from Dumb and Dumber, Justin highlights how rumors and "gospel math" can turn grace into a perceived cultural betrayal. He challenges listeners to examine their own beliefs, emphasizing that salvation is found in Jesus plus nothing else.Subscribe to AfterWords on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.Download a copy of the Exodus JournalVisit us online: rivchurch.comFollow us on InstagramSend us feedback: podcast@rivchurch.comSubscribe to AfterWords on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.Visit us online: rivchurch.comFollow us on InstagramSend us feedback: podcast@rivchurch.com

Generation Z is not all that smart – now that’s not what Todd Starnes says – but that is what the experts say. The generation born between 1997 and 2010 is the very first generation that did worse in school than the generation before them. Dr. Jared Horvath is a top neurologist and he recently testified before Congress regarding standardized academic tests. He says Gen-Z underperformed on basically every cognitive measure from basic attention, literacy and general IQ. The doctor says one of the reasons is because kids are spending too much time in front of screens – and not enough time actually learning. Dr. Horath says he’s not anti-tech, rather he’s pro-rigor. He wants schools to put away the laptops and give the kids actual books – make them use a pen and a piece of paper again. I’m not so sure about the doctor’s take on Generation Z- but it sure would be nice if they would return phone calls – and answer text messages on the same day they were sent. A former public relations executive has launched a blistering attack on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, calling them “problematic in different ways” and describing both as “delusional,” according to a NewsNation report. The unnamed source claimed Meghan avoided eye contact with staff and said Harry lacked basic life skills, alleging, “He is dumber than you could ever imagine.” A spokesperson for the Sussexes flatly denied the claims. The criticism comes as Meghan's As Ever brand faces online mockery over a bookmark product that critics say doesn't grip properly, while RadarOnline reports tensions over a possible UK return later this year. The outlet claims Meghan has presented detailed conditions for the visit — including security demands and accommodation requirements — raising concerns about whether reconciliation efforts could backfire. She is also facing online backlash over claims she “borrowed” the phrase “As Ever,” previously used by King Charles in personal correspondence. Meanwhile, renewed controversy surrounding her estranged father has reportedly prompted pressure on Netflix to help “control the narrative.”Adding to the mix, Prince Harry has been spotted surfing at a private wave pool, with one commentator quipping that “anyone can get barreled if they're rich.” Palace Intrigue is your daily royal family podcast, diving deep into the modern-day drama, power struggles, and scandals shaping the future of the monarchy."Crown and Controversy: Norway" is covering the trial of Marius Borg Høiby as the Norwegian Royal Family is faced with multiple scandals of their own.Check out "Palace Intrigue Presents: King WIlliam" here.

In RELEVANT Buzz, the crew recaps the Super Bowl — including the incredible story of Seahawks coach Mike McDonald, who followed God's calling to leave the corporate world to take an unpaid internship in coaching. On this episode of That Tech Pod, we talk with Logan Lawler, Senior Director at Dell Technologies, about what it takes to make AI actually work in the real world. Logan shares his 16-year journey at Dell and why his focus today is less on hype and more on practical infrastructure choices that enable AI at scale. We break down Edge AI versus Cloud AI with clear, concrete examples, including how GPU-accelerated desktops, workstations, and hybrid cloud setups can turn “that's impossible” AI problems into manageable ones. Logan also highlights why storage, not compute, is often the biggest bottleneck, and the common mistakes organizations make when data can't keep up with GPUs. The conversation gets into energy and sustainability, from the environmental cost of massive data centers to what it means when nuclear power and AI collide. We also explore the human side of AI: whether instant answers are making us lazier, why struggle is still essential for learning, and how that idea shows up in parenting, education, and work. We close with real-world edge AI success stories, a few cautionary tales, and some lighter moments, making this a grounded discussion on AI, infrastructure, and the tradeoffs we rarely talk about.Logan Lawler works at Dell Technologies, where he leads strategy for Dell Pro Precision AI Solutions. Over his 16-year career at Dell, he's worked across sales, marketing, and e-commerce, and now helps enterprises and creative studios leverage high-performance AI workstations and hybrid cloud infrastructure. A frequent speaker and media guest, Logan explains how GPU-accelerated PCs and storage solutions are transforming industries from film and animation to healthcare research. Logan was raised in Missouri and is a graduate of the University of Missouri. He now lives in Texas with his family.
Today, we are discussing the villains we create in our D&D settings. Especially making them intelligent. We are talking about how to make them intelligent and howintelligent to actually make them in the end? Is there something too intelligent? We think so, your villains aren't all-knowing like you, the DM, and sometimes we catch ourselves realizing that we are using meta-knowledge or making them smarter than they actually should be. So here are some reasons why your villains deserve to be dumber.Check here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://bsky.app/profile/doubledm.bsky.socialhttps://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. The Green Elephant in the Room: Solutions To Restoring the Health of People and the Living Planett
SHOW-NOTESFor the first time in recorded history, human intelligence is declining. IQ scores that rose steadily for a century have reversed course across the developed world. Pattern recognition, abstract reasoning, and problem-solving abilities are dropping fastest among young adults. This isn't about genetics - it's about environment. We've built a world that no longer demands we think hard, and our brains are responding accordingly. The timing couldn't be worse. Climate change requires exactly the cognitive abilities we're losing - understanding complex systems, thinking abstractly, planning long-term, and making difficult trade-offs. Meanwhile, rising temperatures, air pollution, and elevated CO2 levels are themselves damaging our brains, creating a vicious cycle. We need to be smarter to solve the climate crisis, but the crisis is making us dumber. The boys drink and review Mad Elf, a strong holiday ale, then discuss the idea that college kids are getting dumber. Is that true? We've gone from a time when high schools taught Greek and Latin to a time when colleges teach remedial math. Comedians love to poke fun at the stupidity of our college students with "man on the street" interviews, where college kids can't identify the country to the north. What's happened? For one thing, reading has decline precipitously. For another, many colleges have abandoned entrance requirements. But there's a lot more. * Is it a good thing, as a matter of policy, to have a more educated population? * Is college the right place for everybody? * What's the federal role? There's no question there are uneducated, unprepared, stupid kids in college. But does that mean they're all dumber?
