This Week: As the right wing war on higher education continues a climate of “fear and hopelessness” sets in among the ranks of college faculty across the former confederate states in particular. One in four scholars in the south report applying to a job in another state, primarily states in the north and west where the restrictions on research, attacks on academic freedom, and repression of marginalized groups is at least not being exacerbated at the state level. Also, we do a round up of fascist shenanigans, including two good stories for a change. A federal judge orders the reinstatement of $500M in research funding to UCLA, noting the Trump administration's actions are likely “arbitrary and capricious.” New laws in CA require federal immigration officials to have a judicial warrant or court order to enter schools and hospitals, and have made it illegal for law enforcement to wear masks. Lastly, Trump cuts $24M in funding to NYC, Chicago, and Fairfax Co schools as punishment for policies that allow students to use bathrooms that align with their gender identity, further weaponizing Title IX and the civil rights infrastructure of the USDOE. Chat GPT is feeding itself information from the web to provide answers to search queries. Lots of information on the web is inaccurate and at times blatantly false. When a query comes back with bad info and the user uses that info in a article or blog post, it keeps feeding the engine of Chat GPT with inaccurate information. So Chat GPT is getting dumber. For now you need to be careful and vet what Chat GPT is giving you. It will take time for it to decipher good info from bad info.

Click here to try it out!Jennifer Lawrence goes full-send comedy in No Hard Feelings, playing Maddie — a broke Montauk local hired by uptight parents to “de-awkward” their 19-year-old son before college. The setup's spicy, the execution's funnier than it has any right to be, and yes, we talk about that beach fight. What we dig intoJ-Law in chaos mode: fearless physical comedy, tight timing, and why this role works because it's her.Awkward vs. raunchy: does the film land its sweet/icky tightrope walk?Age-gap discourse without the sermon: how the script dodges creepiness and pivots to loneliness, class, and late adolescence.Set-pieces that actually bang: the piano “Maneater” scene, the “prom do-over,” the Buick-from-hell, and the naked beach mayhem.Montauk & money: gentrification, property taxes, and the gig-economy grind baked into the jokes.Verdict: better than its schlocky premise suggests — and a reminder Lawrence is funny on purpose. This week's Top 5: BREAKSWe stretch “breaks” until it snaps:Title breaks: Point Break, obviously.Bone/ballistic breaks: Chan, Cruise, Wick… and the arm-wrestle in The Fly.Wind breaks: Blazing Saddles, Swiss Army Man, Dumb & Dumber (bring your nose pegs).Fourth-wall breaks: Ferris Bueller, Deadpool, Wayne's World.Breakfasts & breakdowns: from Groundhog Day to Uncle Buck pancakes and the cinematic “dad's late for work” trope.Breakdancing: Breakin' and the all-timer subtitle, Electric Boogaloo.Prison breaks: Shawshank, Escape from Alcatraz, The Great Escape. The chaotic quiz (because of course)A rapid-fire “Breakdown” quiz that swerves mid-question — Kurt Russell lore, movies with bridges, snacks on road trips, and one wildly specific license-plate memory test. It almost doesn't work. That's the point.Listener shout-outsFeedback on our Top 5 Copies episode (clones, doubles, and Single White Female trauma) plus a few deep-cut recs from the Bad Dads community. On the Saturday August 30, 2025 edition of The Richard Crouse Show we meet Lauren Holly. You know her from television shows like “Picket Fences,” “NCIS” and “Motive,” among many others. On the big screen you’ve seen her as Mary Swanson, the wealthy but troubled heiress, in the comedy “Dumb and Dumber,” as trophy wife Cindy Rooney opposite Dennis Quaid in “Any Given Sunday,” and many others in a career that spans forty years, and includes comedies like “The Adventures of Ford Fairlane” and “What Women Want,” action movies like “Crank: High Voltage” and dramas like “Chicago Hope.” She joins me today to talk about “Loathe Thy Neighbor,” a new project very near and dear to her heart. The film, which begins in theatres on August 29, follows Will Larkfield, played by Brennan Clost, a young man forced to relocate to his late father’s farm as part of an unexpected inheritance. What begins as a simple missing package soon spirals into a battle of wills with Lauren Holly’s character, the neighbor from hell, Wanda Bellerose, reminding us that sometimes the smallest problems cause the biggest messes. Then, guest James Webb tells his an incredible story. Hailing from Australia, he’s a competitive eater, ranked fourth in the world. He has shattered records, by devouring 59.5 donuts in one sitting and taking on the biggest names in the sport. After overcoming a near-paralyzing illness, James has risen to become the "Champion of the Southern Hemisphere," with his sights set on dethroning the legendary Joey Chestnut at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Today we’re talking about competitive eating as a sport, how he prepares and the documentary “James Can Eat,” his story of resilience, obsession, and jaw-dropping feats will leave you hungry for more!

Ever been outmaneuvered by an 8-year-old? When one dad tried to surprise his daughter with a new bike for her birthday, he never expected her calculated response: "I already have a bike, and bikes are very expensive. Maybe I could just get a phone." What followed was a masterclass in child negotiation that left him with bags of Stitch merchandise and a daughter who still managed to get her coveted Build-A-Bear from grandma the next day.The dads dive deep into the financial fears that accompany parenthood—a conversation rarely had openly but universally experienced. From starting businesses while raising newborns to unexpected job losses coinciding with pregnancy announcements, they share raw stories about making ends meet when it feels impossible. Their collective wisdom? You'll never feel financially "ready" for kids, but you'll find ways to make it work. Whether it's developing simple saving habits, having honest conversations with your partner about money values, or adjusting expectations about what your family truly needs versus wants.Between negotiating with car salesmen (who the guys describe as "mostly douches, sorry not sorry") and navigating the complex world of family budgeting, the conversation turns to what truly matters. One father shares a powerful moment when his son wished they were rich, only to quickly change his mind after learning more money would mean seeing his parents less. Meanwhile, another dad finds unexpected joy in introducing his children to classic comedies like Dumb and Dumber and Ace Ventura, creating moments of connection that transcend any financial concerns. Because at the end of the day, your presence matters more than presents. Subscribe now to join these honest conversations about the messy, beautiful reality of modern fatherhood.

The trio discusses powerful takeaways around attunement, buoyancy, and clarity, along with practical frameworks for improving conversations, pitches, and influence in and out of the clinic. Plus, hear how Jungle Cruise, Dumb and Dumber, and AI tools like ChatGPT all tie in to the modern sales mindset.

Comedies nowadays in 2025 don't have a theatrical opening, they mostly go straight to streaming, but in the 90s, they were a main event! There was a huge comedy boom mid-90s, and Dumb and Dumber was a spectacle! A spectacle Alain never saw until now! Hopefully someday soon, especially with the popularity of The Naked Gun (2025), comedies will debut in theatres once more! Enjoy! Send us a textThe digital revolution continues to transform healthcare, and midwifery is no exception. As we launch Season 12 of The Engaged Midwife Podcast (approaching an incredible 100,000 downloads!), Missi and Cara dive into the fascinating world of artificial intelligence and its applications for midwifery students and clinicians. From study techniques to clinical decision-making, AI offers powerful tools that can streamline workflows and enhance learning—but only when used thoughtfully. We explore how tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini can help synthesize information, create customized study materials, and even assist with complex statistical analysis. However, we also examine the research suggesting that handwriting notes creates stronger neural connections than using AI-generated summaries, raising important questions about how technology shapes learning. For practicing midwives, AI has already become embedded in electronic health records and is increasingly available for generating differential diagnoses, patient education materials, and time management solutions. Yet all these applications come with important ethical considerations around data privacy, academic integrity, and environmental impact.Throughout our conversation, we emphasize the importance of critical thinking and transparency. AI works best when it augments human expertise rather than replacing it—the midwife's clinical judgment remains irreplaceable, even as technology evolves to support it. As Cara puts it, "Work smarter, not harder," but always maintain your professional knowledge and skill.#MidwiferyInnovation #AIinMidwifery #TechInBirth #SmartMidwifery #DigitalMidwife #MidwiferyEducation #WorkSmarterNotHarder @chatgpt @claudeai @microsoftcopilot @googlegemini

Jim Carrey's $10 Million Lesson Cal has an epiphany as he's giving one of his storytelling workshops. He's able to tie the thought to the moment in 1985 when a down and out actor named Jim Carrey wrote a check to himself for $10 million to be cashed 10 years later when he became a film star. The $10 million did come to Carrey ten years later with the release of the hit Dumb and Dumber. Cal wonders how to visualize the most out of yourself even when you don't believe you're talented in a particular area. The answer applies to everyone and you might want to use it. If you're not napping from 1:30pm-4:00pm daily, then its curtains I'm afraid. This week's episode has wonderful internet reviews for protein obsessed-people and their microwaveable pork rinds, holding lightning with Disney's Hercules (1997), honey stinger energy waffles (to offset a goo dependency), the implication of piss in Dumb and Dumber (1994), and a nasty bag of onions ordered off of Amazon. Catherine Austin Fitts, former assistant secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President George H.W. Bush, recently commented on how the US Government is responsible for $21-Trillion in “unauthorized spending” between 1998 and 2015 alone. This was documented by Mark Skidmore of Michigan State University in 2017. Catherine believes much of it went into “underground base and city infrastructure and transportation systems” that have already been built. A Washington Post article in 2010 documented the Hidden World of a massively complex national security and intelligence network infrastructure built across the country in the wake of 911. But that's only part of it, and only encompasses the decade between 2001 and 2010 - not to mention the $2.3-Trillion announced missing one day before 911 and the justification to build this infrastructure. It doesn't include the half a century of public and private construction projects for military command centers like NORAD at Cheyenne Mountain or VIP bunkers under Greenbrier Resort. Some of this is for military control, others for continuity of government, and still others for laboratories perhaps akin to the Hive, or simply for nuclear material storage. In fact NASA just found a decommissioned facility in Greenland that was home to Camp Century and Project Iceworm. All of this spending coupled with authorized military spending adds up to over half of the country's national debt. Many of these bunkers, command centers, facilities, etc., have price tags that in order to add up to the unauthorized trillions must be beyond vast, they must be numerous beyond what we can conceive. And these facilities are worldwide, likely under the ocean as much as they are buried into mountains. The wealthy are also building their own bunkers toady, some of which are luxury facilities. Then there are facilities built right under our feet and meant for flood preparations, like the G-Cans in Tokyo. There are also reports of odd booms and explosions hear around the world for several decades. Some is probably atmospheric, part is geological, and others are possible a result of these projects. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Ralph and Lauren take a bold look at a rising issue in modern marketing teams: is AI making your team dumber? Drawing from real-world agency experience, Lauren shares a transparent case study from her own business where AI tools like ChatGPT and Jasper created an illusion of productivity but resulted in lackluster, surface-level insights. The discussion tackles how over-reliance on AI can quietly erode critical thinking, replacing strategic interpretation with generic output that “feels” complete but misses true business impact. You'll learn why being “human in the loop” matters, how to train your team to use AI as a collaborator—not a crutch—and why tools should ask better questions instead of just giving faster answers.
